I recently shot clays with the silver hunter and it functioned wonderfully. This gun fit me perfectly and I would recommend it to anyone. (Posted on 10/17/10)

  2. Shells DO NOT consistently feed into chamber after shooting 3 inch 4 shot any make of shells Review by JD
    Quality

    Value

I bought this gun at a DU Banquet in 2009, and like the way it shouldered and pointed. 4th week into the Duck season a shell didn't chamber after taking a shot. Dangerously, others in the duck blind had to shoot over me to hit the wounded duck. Thought it was a fluke, but it happened again. Sent to a local gunsmith as per Browning's customer service suggestion. 6 weeks go by and no communication except on my part and they did not even touch the gun. Had another gunsmith look it over and he suggested trying another type of shell manufacturer. The same thing happened so many times again this year I felt I was shooting a single barrel. Called Browning's customer service department and at their suggestion, send it UPS. UPS STORES WON'T SEND GUNS AT ALL! Have to go to the main UPS center 20 miles away open between 9-1 and 4-6. No help. Call Browning and ask to be charged for a fed ex shipping label, " we can't do that!" Tells me to send it thru the US Postal System! Yeah, RIGHT!!!! This has been absolutely a pain in the A$$! Now on to a Beretta like the rest of the guys at the duck camp, tired of being laughed at with a Browning. too bad. When it shot. it shot well. 3. Love it Review by Tony

I have shot more rounds thru this gun than I could begin to count and I have shot the gun many many times (even to the point of extreme heat) and it hasn't failed yet. Normally shooting clays I like a shorter overall length (like my O/U) but with this gun I make an exception. I can shoot this gun all day. The gas operation helps reduce recoil which is a big plus (compared to my O/U's and pump's) when shooting multi-target birds. Breakdown and cleaning is quick and easy. This is one gun I plan to keep. Pros: Shoots everything I feed, Simple Design, Easy to maintain, Easy to shoot well, Nice Recoil, Ergonomical, Lightweight, Fits very nicely in my hand, Reliable, Easy to Use

  4. After sending it into Browning for repair, still has the same problem Review by JDD
    Quality

Ok, decided to give Browning the benefit of the doubt, sent the gun to Browning by FedEx, got the gun back a few weeks later with no information on what was done to the gun and a sheet on how to oil the gun? Really? Hunting with just about every kind of gun for 40 years and guns need oiling?? Geeeeee! I wish I would have thought of that!?!? So shooting the the gun at the skeet range and does fine with 2 3/4 inch shells but took it hunting again this weekend and this gun STILL won't load a 3 or 3 1/2 inch shell about 20 -25% of the time. I never know if I have a shell in the chamber or not. Shoot and then check the chamber. Shoot and check the chamber. Would have been better with my O/U at least I would know what was in the barrel at all times. I am calling their customer support and hope they will just swap it out, if not..the Beretta A400 Extreme looks awfully nice. (Posted on 11/28/11)

  5. Outstanding Shotgun Review by Edward

Sorry to read about JJDs problem. I assume Browning cleaned the recoil spring, but you might want to pull it and give it a clean. The Silver is a great shotgun. Extremely reliable, very soft and points well. I will keep mine for life. Easy to clean, has never failed to cycle and will shoot anything I put into it over 1 1/8 oz. including the walmart loads. Love mine and highly recommend it. (Posted on 11/30/11)

Hung up twice in the first box and hasn't missed a beat since; probably 1500 rounds without a hitch; smooth to the shoulder, swings extremely well and relatively inexpensive in today's gun market; the dura touch is a must (Posted on 1/17/12)

I have shot less than 100 rounds with it and the forearm is cracking on the right side. Has anyone else had this problem? Other than that the gun is a great weapon. (Posted on 9/3/12)

  10. Browning Sliver Hunter " Lightning Edition " 12 Guage 28 " Barrel Vent rib Review by Thomas Enlow Jr

    Quality

Well I bought this from Gander Mountain after a friend bought one for 849.00 out the door. Being a remington 1187/1100 man most of my 30 years. The light wieght design and beautiful finish was the attraction. After the research of the gas system I decided it was a solid purchase even if it was too pretty for deer hunting. Everytime I take it out for Rabbit hunting or a dry day Deer hunting I receive many compliments.. It shoots very well handles well and the recoil is on par with the heavier 1187 LC Premier... The Draw length is a tad longer than Remington by around a 1/4 which won't matter with a straight out foward then shoulder draw but for smaller shooters it could be a deal breaker... I'll continue to use my 1187 for serious hunting but the Beautiful Browning Silver is joy to hunt with. (Posted on 2/24/13)
