Firearm Description

Both pistols have a snag-proof design that permits quick presentation to the target, a slide blade front sight for fast target acquisition, and a smooth, crisp trigger pull in double/single action.

The exclusive tip-up barrel allows the user to easily load a round directly into the chamber. It also assists in the safe clearing of the pistol by allowing a live round to be easily removed from the chamber and the bore quickly checked. Jamming and stovepiping problems are virtually eliminated by the open slide design shared by all small frame Berettas.

  1. Tomcat can be a good gun, but... Review by skyrazer77

Beretta is one of the world's oldest firearm manufacturers and has made a long line of marvelous pocket pistols, but often the Model 3032 Tomcat is considered a lemon. This is because there are numerous examples of the frame cracking. However, Beretta has redesigned the Tomcat with a new wider, stronger slide and more importantly put out ammunition guidance so as not to overpower the Tomcat's frame. Essentially, this means using only 32ACP ammunition that produces muzzle energy of less than 132 foot-pounds! When you use such ammo, the Tomcat shines for case after case of ammo use. This is not always easy, for eample Fiocchi (an Italian ammo company) makes three 32ACP loads, but only one meets the <132 foot-pound muzzle energy specs; two are too powerful for the Tomcat and use there of may crack the Tomcat frame. ALWAYS check the specs of the ammo before you buy or shoot in the Tomcat!

An initial break-in period of 200 rounds is recommended with a ramp and a quick chamber cleaning every 14-15 rounds during this period. This will help prevent FTEs during the break-in of the pistol. Also, remember blow-back pistols like the Tomcat require that you grip them tightly while running the pistol. A weak grip can lead to FTE, FTF, or stove-pipes.

Follow these guidelines and your Beretta Tomcat should perform as a quality firearm for a lifetime of reliable shooting. The tip-up barrel makes this a favorite CCW for seniors that may have difficulty cocking traditional pocket autos. (Posted on 5/21/17)

Gun frame cracked after just 40 to 50 rounds over the period of a month. Guess I better dump my 96-A1 while I can, as well as my CX-4. (Posted on 7/28/16)
