Firearm Description

New for 2008, the Thompson 1927A-1 Deluxe Pistol TA5:
10.5" Barrel, Lightweight, .45 ACP with 50 round drum.
After a long hiatus and great demand, the Thompson Pistol has returned to the market! The Thompson Deluxe Pistol TA5 is lightweight with a 10.5" barrel length and a walnut, horizontal foregrip. Included with the Thompson TA5 is one of the most famous accessories, the 50 round Drum magazine. The authentic Drum is entirely U.S. manufactured to the specifications that are as close as possible to the original. A 30 round stick, 10 round and 100 round Drum magazine are optional.

Since 1999, Kahr Arms has been proud to support the legacy of the Auto-Ordnance Corporation, the original maker of the famous Thompson submachine gun. To ensure the historical accuracy of the Auto-Ordnance design, Kahr researched the original engineering drawings. Hundreds of U.S. military microfiche and hand drawings of the Thompson models dating back to 1919 were examined.

The Thompson submachine gun is a historical firearm. Each model is the union of original design, quality materials and fine workmanship. An American Legacy preserved. Thompson was carried by the gangsters in the 20’s and trusted by the troops in WWII. The Thompson Deluxe Pistol TA5 is now available. Find out how it feels to carry a piece of history before legislature and politics put this design back on the shelf.

  1. Horrible to cock weapon. Review by Eric

My problems started when I went online to Karh to order a compensator for my 1927a1 pistol. No where on line does it say that the compensator has to be taken to a gun smith to have it installed. It also doesn't say that the hole for the retaining pin isn't drilled out. I thought I was getting a finished product. When I got it I immediately called customer service they told me that it would require a gun smith to install. I called them a second time to tell them I was interested in buying one and I asked if it was a direct bolt on or required a gun smith to install. Guess what they told me? A direct bolt on. I called them a third time to complain and got the run around. I was never refunded my money. If you plan on buying one start eating your wheaties cereal. It is very hard to cock. I would not recommend this gun or company to anyone. I paid over $1100 for the pistol and about $90 for the useless compensator. (Posted on 2/13/12)

Pros: Nice Recoil, Lightweight, Fits very nicely in my hand, Hi Cap Mags
    Cons: Expensive
