Firearm Description

The PF-9 is a semi-automatic, locked breech pistol, chambered for the 9mm Luger cartridge. It has been developed from our highly successful P-11 and P-3AT pistols with maximum concealability in mind. The PF-9 has a single stack magazine holding 7 rounds. It is the lightest and flattest 9 mm ever made. Firing mechanism is Double-Action Only with an automatic hammer block safety. The PF-9 will be available in blued, parkerized, and hard chrome finishes. Grips will be in black, grey, and olive drab. The PF-9 retains the best features from our P-11 and P-3AT pistols combined into the flattest and lightest single stack 9mm configuration ever made. The barrel, locking system, slide stop, assembly pin, front sight, recoil springs and guide rod are adapted from the P-11. The PF-9 is nearly identical to the P-11 in length and height and shares the same exterior controls. The shorter trigger system with integral hammer block and the extraction system are adapted from the P-3AT. Just like the P-11, the PF-9 will accept +P ammunition, however, not with continuous use.
The rear sight is a new design and is adjustable for windage with the supplied allen wrench as well as for elevation with the use of shims (not included). The included 7 round rectangular magazine is supplied with a finger extension base plate and numbered holes. The under barrel accessory rail shares the dimensions of the MIL-STD-1913 picatinny rail although there is only one locking notch in the forward position.

  1. You Get What You Pay For Review by Eric

Cons: After purchasing and firing this weapon, I was mostly disappointed. Some of the disappointment comes with the necessary evils of what Kel-Tec bills as the slimmest concealed carry 9 mm on the market. For example, because the weapon is so light and has such little mass, the muzzle flip when firing is tremendous. This makes it hard to keep your weapon on target for a follow on shot. Again, because the weapon is so small and and does not absorb much of the blast of firing the round, your hands must absorb this transferred energy - after firing 150 rounds, my trigger finger was numb. Also, the trigger is simply horrible. It is long and spongy, one of the worse trigger pulls I have experienced in a handgun. Out of the box, the weapon is rough and key features like employing the slide locking/release device is difficult due to stiffness, size of the weapon and inherent design. On most occasions, the slide did not lock open when the magazine was empty - it did only about 10% of the time. It was simply not fun to shoot.

Pro: You get exactly what you pay for with this handgun, it is a cheaply made, concealable 9 mm pistol. It is reliable and it is simple.

If you have a tight budget and require a concealable pistol that you most likely will never use in self-defense, I would recommend it. If you want a quality handgun that you would like to shoot often, look elsewhere. (Posted on 4/27/14)

Pros: Shoots everything I feed, Simple Design, Lightweight, Reliable, Easy to conceal

  2. Top Notch Conceal Carry Option Review by Joe All my reviews  (1)

I bought this gun as a primary summer time ccw gun. For that purpose it is an excellent choice. This gun is not a range gun, it is not overly pleasant to shoot. It is a thin, light weight, reliable ccw gun.

Pros: Its size and weight make it one of the most concealable major caliber guns on the market. Price is excellent. I got mine for $269 brand new. The double action trigger is smooth and breaks nicely. It is easy to stage so accuracy isn't an issue. Most importantly when you pull the trigger it goes bang, every time. I have not had a single malfunction of any kind. I took it straight from the box to the range and have done nothing to it yet.

Cons: Fit and finish aren't up to Glock and Sig standards. The edges are sharp and rough. The gaps between the slide and frame are noticable. The trigger reset is long. You basically have to let the trigger all the way out to have it reset. Also, the space between the trigger and the trigger guard is small so if you have chubby fingers it may be alittle uncomfortable. The trigger is plastic (not a big deal) and has a huge hook to it. If you are putting a ton of rounds through it in a given day it will rub your finger raw. And finally my biggest annoyance, it only comes with one mag! I freakin hate that!

Overall: Because of the price and the dimensions of the gun, plus it's reliability I would not hesitate for a second to recommend this gun to someone.

  3. Good not great Review by Joshua All my reviews  (8)

I had a chance to shoot one as of lately and my first impressions leave me on the fence. While it shoots ok and is inexpensive, the fit and finish is nothing to brag to your friends about. They do have a new coyote brown that seems to hide some of the rough edges but its cant hide that awful DAO trigger. I’m not a fan of DAO triggers in the first place and in this case it affected accuracy. Not to say the gun itself is inaccurate but it will take alot of practice or a good trigger job to bring those groups in. but it is inexpensive and it shot everything while I was at the range. So I’m on the fence with buying one. I would probly get one if they released a special addition one with more rounded edges and a smoother lighter trigger. kinda like SIG with their SAS versions.
