  1. The firing pin broke after 6 visits to the trap range Review by Teg

I use the my Stevens 512 for trap shooting. After only about 500 rounds in 5 1/2 months, the firing pin appears to be broken on the upper barrel and now neither barrel will fire. I am taking it back to Cabellas tomorrow. Hopefully I will receive a new replacement. A new gun should not break in only 6 months of use or 6 times at the trap range. I am not interested in waiting a long time for any repairs as another reviewer stated he had to wait 6 to 10 weeks for Bass Pro to get his firing pin replaced. Hopefully Cabelas has better customer service. (Posted on 6/23/14)

Pros: Shoots everything I feed, Accurate

I use it for Skeet, it has been reliable and consistent after 500+ 12 ga. rounds through it. Eats through factory and self loaded ammo; even those with worn out casings. 5 chokes enable me to shoot Trap as well. (Posted on 6/15/14)

Pros: Shoots everything I feed, Easy to maintain

This thing has less than 100 rounds through it an the firing pin broke and the safety is broke. Stevens screwed the pooch on this one. I hope they recall this junk. (Posted on 2/28/14)

Bought this gun as I felt the quality appeared better than most $1,000 guns. Shot one season of trap and in October both firing pins broke, second one three shells after the first. Savage replaced the gun with a new one, but it took two months to get it.

Have not been able to shoot the new gun yet. (Posted on 2/16/14)

Pros: Shoots everything I feed, Accurate, Easy to maintain, Easy to shoot well, Nice Recoil, Easy to Use

the only issue i have had is the first time i fired my 512 shotgun both barrells fired at the same time. that was very bad . the shotgun was less than a month old. took it to a gun smith for him to look at the 512, and said it too much grease from the factory. (Posted on 4/19/13)

  7. Good value gun! Review by Brian Watts

I have just purchased this gun, and only used it once at skeet, So its early days, this 20 bore shotgun has very little recoil and seems to function very well, The trigger pull might get better with usage, will a give it a trial, if it remains heavy, will get it lightened I have tried several different brands of ammo, all shot well, Will stick to Winchester, I like the look of this gun, si did most of the shooting squad. This gun is not a Boss, but what I paid for it, I think its excellent value for money,Time will tell (Posted on 2/24/13)

Pros: Shoots everything I feed, Simple Design, Easy to maintain, Nice Recoil, Lightweight, Reliable

beautiful gun, nice fit, finish , workmanship for a turkish gun but poor design for avid shooters. Savage has let these out to the public with an 8 to 10 pound triggers and absolutly no way to get them down to a more reasonable 4 pound for an avid shooter.I am very disappointed in this gun. Pros: Shoots everything I feed, Accurate, Fits very nicely in my hand
    Cons: Hard to clean, Weight
