Unsung value, excellent personal defense weapon Review by Rob
Price Value Quality These guns served LE and Military for almost a century, still in use today by many Police and civilians around the world.
Pros: Shoots everything I feed, Accurate, Simple Design, Easy to maintain, Easy to shoot well, Nice Recoil, Ergonomical, Fits very nicely in my hand, Reliable, Easy to Use
While outshined by the latest in higher capacity auto pistols, this gun will protect you just as well if you're willing to put in a little work learning DA revolver shooting and speedloads.
Ammunition in .38sp can be had from extremely mild wadcutter loads to 9mm+P level performance- with heavier bullets in addition.
I have several K frame .38sp S&W revolvers, including two model 10's and the stainless equivilent mod 64.
Despite my love of Glock, 1911 and BHP pistols, I wouldn't hesitate to rely on a Mod 10 for protection. They are reliable, very accurate and natural pointing combat handguns with a well deserved reputation for getting the job done. (Posted on 12/28/12)

SW Model 10, a value in any time Review by David Esch
Quality Price Value My Smith and Wesson Model 10-8 4" heavy barreled revolver has been perfectly reliable with all ammunition, factory or handloaded, and delivers extremely tight groups at any range. Modern ammunition keep this old warhorse viable as a defense gun today, and I wouldn't feel, no have I felt under armed while carrying it openly or concealed. It is a perfect starter for many shooters, and a good size for a home defense sidearm. The new ones are very pricey, recommend looking for a good used model. (Posted on 2/26/12)

Reliable classic but obsolete. Review by rick edenberg
Quality Price Value This revolver was once the standard by which all others were judged. It has served for a century as a world wide weapon of choice for those who need reliability. (It even was Herrman Goering's personal weapon for some reason.) But in the 21st Century what is it's role? It's not fun to shoot or useful as a target shooter because of the fixed sights. This weapon is too large as a carry gun, too weak as a service weapon even for a mall cop, and too expensive as a home defence choice. Much better revolvers are now available for less cost. Pros: Simple Design, Reliable, Easy to Use
Cons: Expensive, Pricey
