  1. Almost the perfect CCW if only it had a better trigger pull and break Review by Edward

I have had 2 of these and put 500rds in both units.

The feed ramp is nicely polished. No failures to feed, and but there were a couple of failures to fire. The striker dented the primers but it just didn't go off. So I'd say it wasn't the guns fault on that one and attribute that to bad ammo. Reliability was great as there were no malfunctions like stove pipping or broken parts.

Both of these guns were the blued finish model that would show signs of rust in the slide serrations after use. I would quickly oil these and rub them out till they come off.

Being made of polymer and being so slim, it is the perfect size for CCW. Very small chance of printing under your shirt unless you get that careless. It is so light, I can't even feel it on me.

My only gripe is with the trigger. Its very scratchy and grainy, and the pull is horrendous. I can't even believe what I read about it when they say the trigger breaks at 5-7lbs and its so smooth and crisp?? The units I had would break at 10lbs or more. The triggers were so stiff I couldn't make any decent shot groups.

My take on it is: Its the perfect CCW pistol and I would be confident in carrying it. However I would not shoot in a situation that required precision and accuracy over 4yards. Being in an actual gun fight myself I can say most would occur in ranges of point blank to 2 yards, so I am confident this gun can win the day!

7 + 1 rounds of 9mm JHP sure beats the 5 rounds in a snubby revolver any day of the week. Consider the 7 more rounds in the extra mag, and that ought to be enough to get you out of most situations.

Last thoughts, if you can find a way around that trigger pull I'd say buy one! :-)

  2. PT709 Slim Review by Chris

Great firearm for CCW as it is small but has a little more kick than similarly sized pistols that are only .38 (its offered in 9mm and .40). It is a little pickey on what ammo I put through it and tends to discriminate against winchester ammo. Other then that it works great and I would recommend it. (Posted on 1/22/11)

Pros: Accurate, Simple Design, Easy to maintain, Easy to shoot well, Lightweight, Easy to Use, Easy to conceal
