Dimensionally, it is similar to the .45 ACP Ammo, but it has a thicker wall and is loaded to create higher pressures. These changes offer an average of 300 feet per second improvement in the muzzle velocity over the .45 ACP Ammo. Because of the limitation presented by the .45 ACP Ammo, there was a strong need to replace this cartridge with something that delivers a better power and penetration with low recoil and precise accuracy.
