  • GSG 522 .22LR (HK MP5 Replica) Review
This ATI GSG 522 is a replica of the mp5. The GSG made this replica of the mp5 because the original HK mp5 is extremely expensive but this ATI GSG 522 is they look pretty close to their parent gun. It has a 16 inch barre...l, a barrel shroud or a mock suppressor and has rubber handguard. The accuracy of this rifle is enough especially for a 22 but still a good little rifle. more

What a fun gun to shoot! Once I started using CCI Mini Mags there has never been any issues. When at the range everyone wants to shoot it.

One low point is the newly “redesigned” GSG sights, which are a deviation from the original HK design. The circle-in-circle design of the original HK MP-5 / G-3 rifles is one of the most intuitive, easy-to-master designs in existence. In the photo above, you can see a comparison between a real HK MP5K front sight (in this case, with the tritium insert on the left) and a GSG front sight post (on the right). Both the HK design and the tried-and-true M-1 Garand type sights allow the shooter to frame the target in both the vertical and horizontal perspective, which is the key to their success. more

Man what can I say. This is just a cool gun to own. Extremely modifiable to turn it into a sick looking mp5 knock off. I{4c5e1c8db3423e76dd77cecf54dbfb9372ba7d2fd5e2d3151d077082656529fd}u2019ve put 1000 rounds through and jammed a couple times due to it needing to be cleaned. When you pull it out on the range you get everybody{4c5e1c8db3423e76dd77cecf54dbfb9372ba7d2fd5e2d3151d077082656529fd}u2019s attention it{4c5e1c8db3423e76dd77cecf54dbfb9372ba7d2fd5e2d3151d077082656529fd}u2019s really cool. My kids like it because I have the retractable stock. And when it{4c5e1c8db3423e76dd77cecf54dbfb9372ba7d2fd5e2d3151d077082656529fd}u2019s pushed all the way in it fits them perfect. And the red dot I installed makes it too easy to hit the target. Again this was a great buy and a cool gun to own. more

awesome firearm, wife loves it, happy wife, happy life. only thing of note worthy ammo choice is prevalent. fire arm does not like wax coated ammo, which a few 22 caliber manufacturer's may do to their ammo. other than t...hat the wife and kids love shooting this firearm. more

Gun does not fire more than half the time. It is striking the rim fire cartridge too lightly. The hammer leaves a mark most of the time but it's is not enough to fire the round. The gun jams very frequently. We returned once under warranty, waited six months got it back and it still has the same issues. Returning now for a refund. Good looking gun but does not work with any reliability. more

Gun is absolutely flawless. Exactly as I expected and wanted. I just got it today and I've put about 200 rounds through it and it has fed, fired and ejected every round I fed it. Including some pretty crappy low velocity... stuff. more

I have had this gun for 1 month now and I have shot 1000 rounds at my local range. The best ammo in my view is the Remington Bucket O Bullets 22 Golden Bullet hollow points, I have not had a misfire with this ammo. Ameri...can Eagle HV 40 grain, Federal Champion 40 grain and Aguila SuperExtra 40 grain...w/these, 1 out of every 22 shots seem to misfire. The gun is well built and looks awesome. I am really happy with this purchase and I will be buying a GSG 1911 very soon. more

First: Once again Bud's shined on service, notification and delivery. I made payment on Thurs and by Tues morning my weapon was at my FFL ready for pick up! Now: The weapon.GSG 522. 1st run of 22 rounds jammed twice. 2n...d run off jammed once. 3rd run smooth. 4th run 3 jams. 5th n 6th run like butter thru rapid fire! This gun wants to be fired fast. The slower I shoot the more likely it is to jam up. Not bad. May be the bulk ammo. Using a 40 grain SK out of a 500 round can. So difficult to find ammo round these parts I bought what was avail. I think with higher quality ammo this should run even smoother. The stock is comfortable in your hands. No recoil as it's a .22. Fixed sight not bad at all, did very well at 75 yards. I will be adding a 110 round drum mag and a red dot site to make this already fun weapon even funner! Can't beat the fun for the amazing price! more

Got this delivered to the ffl two days ago and picked it up yesterday. Upon taking everything out of the box and inspecting it all to make sure all was well, I was surprised at the weight of this firearm. It has a great ...feel and the lop is very short with the fixed stock that comes with the firearm. I haven't shot it yet but plan on doing that today!! Upon the initial inspection I found there was a bit of corrosion on the crown of the barrel. I took some 1000 grit to it and removed it cleaned and oiled everything up. Seems to function well even without shooting, but again, that comes tomorrow! more

Really fun rifle! My only advice is listen when people say this gun HATES cheap ammo. I tried the Remington bulk packs and it jammed or failed to eject every other shot. As soon as I loaded the CCI high velocity, it fire...d as smooth as butter. I only had 50 rounds on me, but not one jam in all 50 shots. more

Ordered this gun last Wednesday and it was here today, only 1 week later! With the madness that is going on in gun sales I thought that was pretty quick. The gun looks great, I picked it up at lunch and went and shot abo...ut 20 rounds out real quick before I headed back to work. Accurate and fun to shoot! I will be adding some accessories to it but straight outta the box it looks and works great! Thanks Bud's Guns! more

Thank you Buds for making the ordering process so EASY! Rifle came in about a week, and that was around Christmas, very happy with the tracking information provided by Buds. Now for the rifle. Right out of the box to the... range. Put over 400 rounds of 22cal LR 40 grain Federal bulk ammunition through it. Not a single issue. Sights were off to the left a little, but that was easily corrected. I will be adding a red dot to it soon. Mags are easy to load. Buy more, you will empty them in a few seconds. Talk about fun to shoot. My daughter and son could not put it down and were sad when we left the range. This rifle is something the whole family can and will enjoy. Cleaning is not the simplest task, but not as big a deal as people make it out to be. Plan on the first time about a solid hour to learn as you go. Once you have done it, it should go much faster. I read people complain about the quality of this and the quality of that with this rifle. You paid about $350 for it. If you want H&K quality spend $3000 to $5000 and get a real MP5. I saw nothing on this rifle that was a disappointment. What I see is a decent product at a fair price that is and will be a lot of fun to own and shoot for years to come. I would also like to thank Buds again for being such a great company. I have another rifle on the way and I am hoping to order other items as the check book recovers. more

Finally got the time to go to the range to fire this rifle. It is a very neat looking gun, and fires the cheapest 22LR rounds. Sub-sonic rounds don't do so well in this rifle, as it fails to load the next round into the ...chamber. The only drawback to this rifle, is the failure of machine screws that hold the internal assembly together. The carrier assembly has these sheet metal-like screws that hold the assembly together. has a machine-screw replacement set that will NOT replace the sheet-metal screws in this rifle. GSG did upgrade the screws in this "polymer lightweight" version with larger ones, but did not use machine screws! I hope the carrier assembly doesn't vibrate loose from firing of the rifle. You can purchase several HK brand spring-loaded push pins for this GSG rifle. This will enable you to take the stock, trigger group, forearm easily and quickly. There are several videos on youtube that show you how to take this rifle apart to clean, etc. more

I purchased this rifle a little over a month ago. Before purchasing I did not realize that the receiver on this version is plastic (polymer). There is a bit more expensive version with an aluminum receiver available. Thi...s rifle is strictly for fun shooting. It is a blast to shoot. I did foam fill the stock as it felt really cheap. I did over tighten the stock screw a bit and it split the plastic. I had to epoxy in a metal plate so it should be stronger now. I also modified the front sight by adding a Hi Viz rod. It's a sweet little shooter for $300. Accuracy is acceptable. Don't expect much in terms of quality and durability. It's just fun. more

Took about a week from order to delivery - that includes a weekend. Not bad, but I was looking forward to delivery, so seemed to take a lot longer. Excellent condition once I got it out of the box. Started modifications ...immediately. Have read many posts and agree the rail needs to go. I have an old airsoft, so swapped the stock and rear sight. Ordered and installed push pins (only permanent mod as this requires a minor amount of drilling). Made it to the range 2 weeks after delivery. Just shy of 500 rounds, 2 FTF, 1 FTE. FTF clearly ammunition, FTE was questionable, but quickly cleared and no more issues. Used CCI HV and Win SuperX ammunition. Accurate at 50 yards with modified rear sight. The downside starts with the instruction/owner manual. read it once, then toss it. Get the HK push pins, its worth not having to unscrew bolts every time you want to clean. Which leads to the real negative of this rifle, it is a pain to clean. As expected, 22LR is not the cleanest round, coupled with a lot of tiny crevices that are difficult to get into, cleaning takes some time. Im ordering a conversion kit that contains the original GSG5 for the front site - airsoft rifle didn't cut it for this part. The site included with the rifle is open , not a traditional closed one. It works, but not as easy to frame targets. All said and done, $308 for the rifle, $35 for upgrades, its an outstanding rifle that is a lot of fun for the money. Im looking at getting two more so my sons won't need to share ... more

I love this gun. First thing was Bud's shipping, it got to my FFL in 3 days. I have bought 7 guns from Buds and every time they have shipped quickly, without problem. I bought the ATI red dot mount and mounted a $40 red to it. Once sighted in the gun is freakishly accurate. I let a couple of friends shoot, one ordered the weapon the next day, and the other is saving up for it. The gun is all plastic, which usually bothers me, but I wanted to save a bucks on a plinker and this gun is so much fun that I don't care. To make a long story short if you are considering ordering this gun, DO IT, You won't regret it. more

As usual my purchase with buds was flawless I have purchased well over half a dozen guns wit no issues the GSG 522 Has been a lot of fun to shoot and cheep to purchase ammo for the 22 lr caliber I have had a couple of is...sues with feeding the lead tip of the bullet sometimes jams in the gun when cycling with cci ammo i usually don't have any problems if you are looking for a cheap ammo gun to shoot in an AR format you cannot beat the price or overall dependability also there are a lot of accessories available for the weapon as well. I may try using a hard tip bullet in place of the lead that is my only issue this should not have any bearing on you purchasing the GSG Also easy to tear down and clean more

Total Fun !!!!!!! The weapon is light wieght, and a blast to fire. Took gun to 50 yrd range and fired 100 rounds. With iron sights (and old eyes) I was able to keep the group pattern at about 4 inches. I think when i add... the tru glo red dot scope i will be more consitant. For the record the only reason I'm leaving out one star is due to buds taking FOREVER to ship. Ordered on the 15th, wasnt at my FFL till the 25th??? Gun is nice, its totally a toy. Fired about 200 rounds testing differen...t ammo. Federal/winchester/CCI/remington. Ate everything with I want to say 2-3 feed related issues, a few duds as usual with cheap bulk ammo. The real interesting thing is that it fed sub-sonic winchesters very well. CCI's mini-mags seem to be what the gun likes the most, as for accuracy its not bad. I dont target shoot with a $300 semi-auto so i'm not too worried. Fun little gun, bud's I have to say I was a little disapointed... more
