    Very please
Bought this pistol about 2 weeks ago and I've fired about 150 rounds through it. This is the first pistol I've owned & fired in 20+ years, no formal training but I grew up with firearms. The pistol is easy ...to handle and fire. Shooting at a range; 15 yards with a regular sheet of 8.5X11 paper as a target I maintained an 80% hit rate on the target. The recoil is present but light. The Beretta was purchased for home defense and I am satisfied that it was the correct choice. more

    Failure to feed
I bought this 3 weeks ago. I was super excited so I went home, cleaned it, and went to the range. What a disappointment! Every other shot I took and the weapon wouldn’t go into battery. Showed it to the gunsmith th...ere and he fired it with the same results. Three weeks later and it’s sitting on the shelf awaiting inspection at Beretta. more

    Great Pistol
I bought this pistol from Academy factory fresh. The oil used from Beretta factory has a high viscosity. I took the pistol slide and barrel off and lightly brushed out the factory sharp edges with a brass brush. Put on a... oil with a lighter viscosity. The recommendation I really want to say is take apart clip get out the factory muck and clean and apply oil, really makes another BIG difference. The first time shooting about 100 rounds pistol was crisp with a heavy trigger pull in single action, double action not to bad and had a high recoil. I replaced original parts with Beretta original parts stainless guide rod, 1/4 inch shorter recoil spring, Elite hammer, and the part that made the BIGGEST difference Beretta D spring for the hammer. The second time out shot over 400 rounds smooth single action, light trigger pull on double action, Very Smooth Action, low recoil. The Accuracy was A+ Just like any other Pistol, Clean it, Oil it, Take Care of it and it will take Care of You. more

Reliable, accurate, great day to day features
If you want a pistol that is ultra reliable, will digest almost any ammunition and you can stake your life on this is it. Its heavy when fully loaded its not a pocket pistol. If you have small hands or short fingers you ...might not like the feel. I have large hands, perfect. A great feature is the coated finish. First shot DA pretty heavy trigger pull again its a hand size thing I like that feel. more

I see why this gun is so famous!
I purchased this gun a little over a month ago and mine came with laser guide rod installed which was about $100 more than the standard $575 original price and it was worth it! I went to academy to almost buy a 1911 ruge...r but when I saw the 92 I was like "I must hold this Boondock Saints gun!" and when I held it, it felt perfect. Simply perfect. I went back to the 1911 and held it, and it did not feel as amazing and as awesome as the 92 w/ laser rod. So I bought it with no second thoughts in my mind. I later took it to the gun range, loaded it, racked the slide (best sound I ever heard than the other guns I shot) shot the gun, got 1 inch groupings on torso and headshot w/ and w/o laser on. Carry as it sounds I actually use it for conceal carry since it's really not hard for me to hide because of my size. And in Texas open carry is legal so i can show it off with its new Wilson Combat grips! Simply an amazing and good looking gun! more

    All-time favorite 9mm
I have been shooting my grandfather's P226 for years now, but he has a strict "this gun doesn't leave my property" rule, which is completely valid, anyways, i needed a good accurate 9mm for sport shoo...ting and carry, I immediately went to academy the next weekend and bought a Beretta 92FS 9mm. I had shot a 92FS beforehand at a shooting range with my mother and I wasn't surprised of how accurate it was. It was my first time shooting a pistol of any type, and first time shooting anything other than a .22. Not to brag, but i was with people who have been shooting for years and i was still the best there. I made countless bullseyes and excellent grouping. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone as a first choice if you are looking for a 9mm!!! more

    Lives up to it's reputation
I've owned the Beretta 96 (40 S&W version of this one) for about 10 years. When I started looking for a full size 9mm, I kept comparing others to my Beretta. Why should I keep looking? I bought a 92FS, and it ha...s been just as flawless as the 96. I've got about 1500 rounds through my 92 with no failures - just a pleasure to shoot. (I've probably got 10,000 rounds through my 96 with ZERO failures). I love the looks of this thing. Leave it to the Italians to make a full size 9mm "sexy". more

    Awesome gun
I've had this gun for about a year, it still shoots as good as the day I bought it. No problems with it whatsoever, have put over 1000 rounds through it, it eats anything you feed it. My only complaint is I don'...;t like how beretta started putting it the plastic recoil rod but it was an easy $20.00 upgrade to get a steel one. I also put in the d spring to lower the pretty heavy double action pull and it shoots like a dream. I also love the fact that you can find pretty inexpensive magazines for it about anywhere you look. more

    Legendary
I own 8 Beretta handguns: 4 PX4 and 4 92. I buy full size Beretta handguns because they never miss a beat. Despite the insane demand for firearms, Berettas QC is outstanding. The 92 is a legend. Yes, it is friggin huge. ...It is however the softest shooting 9mm you can buy. It is end of the world reliable, easy to maintain, and unbelievably accurate. There is simply no going wrong with this gun. You can even carry it fairly easy, as I have done for extensive periods. I've even jogged and exercised with it. There are many good kydex holsters out there for this gun. The majority of the length goes inside the waste band. just a little of the handle prints. This is a perfect one size fits all gun despite its size and weight. The military uses it for a reason. more

    Excellent Quality "Antique" 9mm
This was my first firearm I bought over a year ago and now I own 5 different types of firearms. I've always loved the sleek design of this firearm ever since I saw it in the first Lethal Weapon, which was right arou...nd the time it debuted as one of the first double stack semi-auto 9mm! The gun is sort of an antique in this day and age so it does require a few more cleanings compared to a polymer gun. It's a bit on the heavy side being a heavy metal frame but it's reliable and accurate! I purchased the high quality Italian made version instead of choosing the US made military issued version. This is a great gun to have in your collection but might not be the best for a daily carry/range trip gun due to the regular cleaning and care it requires, but I've put over 1000 round through it with no problems and it loves oil! more

    A Good Range Pistol
The added weight of the metal frame. helps absorb the recoil which is great for teaching new shooters and or practicing rapid fire, but as stated earlier it also eliminates it as a viable carry option. Moreover it does p...rovide a lighter single action trigger pull then the other double action only options (Glock, XD(m), M&P), but cannot be compared to the smoothness of a single action trigger pull from a 1911 or a Sig Sauer P226. Finally, I cannot recommend this gun as a long term investment. While yes every reviewer has raved and given great compliments for this gun's performance right out of the box, I cannot agree with their comments from firing older or rental 92FS pistols. The gun can jam and does require cleaning and maintenance if you wish to preserve its performance and reliability. more

    Great 9mm Pistol!
After using the M9 throughout my military career thought I would pick up a 92FS. Great price and after taking the gun to the range was a very good shooter out of the box! 2" group at 7 yards and 2-4" at 15 yard...s. Shot several different types of ammo and it took all of them with no problems. I normally shoot better with a 1911 and since this pistol is new and not the worn out ones I shot in the military I was able to place more accurate shots. 15 round mags gives you plenty of shots. Recoil is minimal DA/SA 3 dot sights this pistol is a great value for a solid shooter. Only drawback is it is a bit on the heavy side and the grip is made for longer fingers/ big hands. Would highly recommend this pistol! more

    Best 9mm Handgun
I've owned this handgun for about a year now and try to go out shooting about once a week. After shooting dozens of different kinds of handguns by borrowing them from friends and family, I've come to the conclu...sion that this 9mm is by far the best in quality and reliability for the price and caliber. Beretta has always been a top quality manufacturer so it's no wonder that the US military would choose this handgun (slightly different version, M9, but essentially the exact same) for the sidearm of choice. The gun requires very little maintenance, but it's always good to clean a firearm regularly to assure they last indefinitely and oil the steel parts in the slide to assure no jamming. The only time I've had this gun jam is by using dirt cheap steel ammunition and hadn't cleaned it in months. I've shot the famed Glock quite a bit and although super reliable, I don't think they shoot very straight and feel cheap for the same price as this alloy gun. more

    My Favorite Full Size 9mm
I have only good things to say about this gun. Probably the most accurate 9mm pistol I have ever owned. It's a good home/range gun, but too bulky and heavy for concealed carry. I never experienced any problems back ...when I owned this pistol years ago. You can consistently hit a quarter at 25 yards regardless of what ammo you feed it. Gun is all metal, so you can expect a smooth, soft recoil and a nice hefty feel. The barrel is about 5" long so there is a nice, long sight radius. Worth every penny. If you are contemplating getting this or the Taurus PT92, then pick the gun with a safety you are more comfortable with. This gun's safety is on the slide, while the Taurus is frame mounted. They are of the same quality though. Taurus will save you some cash. Gun also fires +P+ ammo no problem. more

    Reliable & Smooth
I have the .40cal version of this gun (model 96FS), but it's the exact same design, just higher caliber. PROS: Solid design - the only plastic is the grip handle VERY easy to break down & clean Ambidextrous maga...zine release button Ambidextrous safety mechanism Sensitive, consistent trigger Since the gun is a little on the heavy side, firing the gun is very smooth and gives a low amount of recoil. CONS: A little on the heavy side (if your intent is to conceal/carry) A little on the bulky side (again, if your intent is to conceal/carry) Depending on which model you get, some do not come with mounts for red-dot/lights Depending on which model you get (9mm or .40cal), ammo can get pretty pricey. Is it worth the money? Definitely. I have shot over 100 rounds at one time and never had one jam; just mag after mag with impressive results and my wrist wasn't sore either! I am no precision target-shooter so I might not be the best to ask but I've not had any issues with accuracy. more

I have three of them, the oldest is 22 years old. I shot it regularly and carried it my last ten years as a police officer. It is a big, heavy, reliable and robust pistol for combat/protection. It is not for concealed ca...rry or plinking. Like all firearms, it should be kept clean if you plan on using it to defend yourself!. more

I also love the fact that you can find pretty inexpensive magazines for it about anywhere you look. more

    Old Reliable
I've owned this firearm for over 6 years. I have fired thousands of rounds and have not had a single mishap. Recoil is low. Weight is evenly distributed. Take down and cleaning is very easy. I had no problem finding... additional magazines. more

The military uses it for a reason. more

    Incredible gun
This has to be the most accurate gun I've used. All groupings are nice and tight. Couldn't ask for anything better. Has a great balance and solid feel to it. Comfortable to hold, very little recoil.

    Fantastic 9 mm
I purchased this pistol several years ago from Academy. Since then, I have fired roughly 1,500 rounds through it. Accuracy is excellent. Reliability is excellent. I have not had one problem with this pistol. I use both B...eretta and Pro Mag magazines - with no issues with either. This is my favorite pistol to shoot (I have four others). more

    A Good Pistol
After being in the Army and around the M9 I wanted what I could get at the time and this was it. Easy to use and maintain. Academy has the best price around on these in my area.

This is a great gun to have in your collection but might not be the best for a daily carry/range trip gun due to the regular cleaning and care it requires, but I've put over 1000 round through it with no problems and it loves oil!

I am no precision target-shooter so I might not be the best to ask but I've not had any issues with accuracy. more

Awsome handgun. Not a vehicle gun.
This gun is so fun to shoot. It fits my hand so well. I just love it. The only downside is actually what probably makes it so durable. It’s mostly steel. That means it conducts heat. Being from the south, we have h...ot summers. I’ve gotten off work most days during the summer, and put my hand around it in my vehicle. It’s so hot. I can’t hold it for more than 5 seconds without it starting to burn me. Dont get it if you’re looking for a vehicle gun if you are in warmer climates. Do get it if you want an awesome gun for fun or home defense!

The gun can jam and does require cleaning and maintenance if you wish to preserve its performance and reliability. more

    Failure to feed
I bought this 3 weeks ago. I was super excited so I went home, cleaned it, and went to the range. What a disappointment! Every other shot I took and the weapon wouldn’t go into battery. Showed it to the gunsmith th...ere and he fired it with the same results. Three weeks later and it’s sitting on the shelf awaiting inspection at Beretta. more
