Gun Review: Bond Arms Backup
The rear of the Bonds Arms backup is constructed like a normal single action-only compact handgun. There’s a small grip and an external hammer with an over-sized spur to make it easier to cock in a hurry. The grip on this version is rubberized, which is definitely appreciated. Something interesting about the fire controls: there’s a safety. Normally the only safety on a single action only revolver is the fact that you don’t cock the hammer until you’re ready to shoot. The Bond Arms Backup sports a cross-bolt safety as well. The hammer will still fall with the safety engaged, but the firing pin (in theory) should not be struck. Pro tip: just keep the hammer de-cocked unless there’s trouble. Accuracy is also an issue. I wasn’t able to hit the target at our usual testing distance of 30 feet. So I perforated the target above at 15 feet. The top barrel was grouping higher than the bottom barrel, spreading in a different direction. The groups were even offset horizontally by a different ratio. In short, the barrels don’t seem to be all that well aligned. I wouldn’t trust the second round accuracy of this gun beyond bad breath distance. The heavy trigger combined with the tiny form factor makes it very difficult to make an accurate shot. Plus, each barrel has a different point of impact. ...more

Bond Arms Backup Review
The Bond Arms buckup is a classic style Derringer pistol with a pivoting breech on a solid metal frame giving you a two shot capability. Weighing in at 18.5 ounces with a overall length of 4.5 inches and sporting a 2.5 inch barrel. It's small but it also packs some punch, it comes in a 45 ACP or nine-millimeter and easily interchangeable between the two calibers. The pistol feels good in the hand with a sleek matte look and rubberized grips. ...more
Bond Arms Backup Derringer Review
Bond Arms builds an incredibly safe pistol with a cross bolt safety and it fires in single action mode, meaning that you have to cock the hammer manually every time you want to fire. Although we always recommend the use of a holster, this could safely be carried in an outer jacket pocket or even dropped into a bath robe pocket when there is an unexpected sound in the middle of the night and you do not have the time to roll out in full kit with an AR and a full sized handgun. The Bond Arms Backup has a three-inch barrel, a bead blasted stainless barrel and a black textured subdued frame with soft rubber grips. All the same modern materials and custom craftsmanship can now be had in a more modern looking or dare we say “tactical” package. ...more
Gun Review: Bond Arms Backup Derringer in .45 ACP & 9mm
The Backup got a two barrel pairs chambered in .45 ACP and 9mm, and lacked the shell ejectors used with rimmed cartridges. The notched chamber opening is a square cut into the barrel’s left side that encompasses about 0.31 inches of both chambers. Fingernails are able to slip through the notch and pry the empty cases out. The Backup differed some from other Bond Arms pistols. Gone is the highly polished stainless steel barrel and frame, which have been replaced by a bead-blasted, matte-finished, 2.5-inch, stainless barrel and a black crinkle-powder-coated frame (2.5-inch .40 barrels are also available). Both changes were made to enhance the Backup’s concealability. The hammer, trigger, triggerguard, cross-bolt safety and lock lever were all bead blasted, which, along with the barrel, make for an attractive contrast to the black crinkle-powder-coated frame. A polished rectangle on the frame contains the serial number. It’s reliable, chambered for .45 ACP or 9mm, accurate (for its class) and surprisingly easy into action. It’s also small enough to fit just about anywhere, and a good assortment of leather is available to holster it. So, yes, I believe the Backup qualifies as a backup pistol quite well. ...more
Bond Arms "Backup" 45 ACP Derringer Giveaway - Gunblast.com
The Bond Arms Backup is chambered for 45ACP, it's got a matte texture finish on the frame and non glare on the barrels. This i a 2 and half inch barrel, 18 ounces and also has a cross bolt safety. This gun is comfortable to shoot and to handle.
Fantastic quality as expected from Bond. The short barrel really lends itself well to easy pocket carry. Some people complain about the weight, but I don't think that should be a deterrent. Feels great in the hand, shoots easily, and is extraordinarily safe for a firearm of this nature. I trust my life with Bond Arms derringers. Easily ringing 8" steel at 25 yards!!! Don't listen to the "tacticool" guys out there, you won't be outgunned with one of these. Also Buds has the absolute BEST price. No doubt. The shipping was crazy fast! I ordered on a Sunday, it shipped on Monday and arrived at my FFL in VA on Tuesday. THAT'S INSANITY! I highly recommend Buds and I can't think of a single negative. ...more
Awesome looking handgun. All business in all the right places. Purchased additional 45 colt/410 barrel from Bond Arms half off. Booth sets of barrels have their limitations. Plan on spending time at the range to fully appreciated what this little gun can do. Shooting anything 410 - 3" magnum is a handful. Larger grips with some skateboardtape where needed should help to manage recoil to a degree. 45 colt loads are fun to shoot. This bad boy rock n rolls old school. ...more
After My First Trip To The Range, I Sold This Gun, I Couldnt Hit A Single Thing With The Sights, The Recoil On It Was Worse Than A .44 Magnum, I Purchased Bigger Grips thinking It Would Help, Well, It Didnt Much, Along With Making The Gun Almost Twice As Thick It Felt Like I Was Holding A Potato That Shot Cannonballs, I Certainly Would NOT Recommend This Gun, In This Particular Caliber, IF You Have Big Hands, I MIGHT Recommend This In 9mm Or .38 special, But Nothing More. ...more
