  • Review: Browning X-Bolt Hell’s Canyon Speed
“It’s a three-lever trigger system, so by using the mechanical advantage of a lever, we get a safe, full sear engagement and yet an extremely crisp trigger pull,” says Cummins of the X-Bolt HCS’s Feather Trigger ...system. Using leverage, the Feather Trigger amplifies the movement of the trigger into the secondary sear piece so your finger doesn’t have to move as much as the sear is engaged to fire the gun. This mechanically creates as little movement as necessary for trigger pull and, as “Christian” from Jacksonville, Florida, posts, the “trigger is crispier than Popeye’s chicken.” It’s adjusted at the factory for virtually zero take-up or creep, minimal overtravel and 3 1/2 pounds pull weight.Users can further screw-adjust the trigger pull to between 3 and 5 pounds by removing the bottom metal from the gun to access the adjustment screw. There is no need to remove the barreled action from the stock, but the adjustment screw is sealed at the factory and you’ll have to pick that off before making any adjustments. One of the unique visible features of the X-Bolt is the Bolt Unlock Button that works in conjunction with the two-position tang safety. Pressing it allows the bolt to be unlocked and opened with the safety in the “safe” position for unloading. This configuration eliminates the common three-position tang safety that many shooters either find confusing or simply ignore entirely. Though it takes a little range time to get accustomed to pressing the button to safely unload a live round, its location is where your thumb is anyhow when cycling the action, and pressing it quickly becomes intuitive. This rifle has a really comfortable and lively stock.Recoil is also really well managed on this rifle. Further helping to tame recoil is a muzzle brake with holes 360-degrees around. If you shoot from prone, know it’s going to kick up a lot of dust in addition to being really loud.Accuracy was really good, though the only thing “freakish” about it was the incredible consistency from one load to another. more

  • THE X-BOLT HELL’S CANYON SPEED RIFLE IS MADE FOR TOUGH CONDITIONS
The Cerakote Burnt Bronze finish on this X-Bolt’s barrel and action, combined with the A-TACS AU camo composite stock, not only provides an appealing, modern flare, but also outstanding weather resistance. Indeed, the ...state-of-the-art Cerakote finish is both weather- and corrosion-proof. Meanwhile, the textured gripping surfaces, Dura-Touch Armor Coating, palm swell and Inflex recoil pad collectively make for a rifle that feels great in the hands, no matter what weather conditions Mother Nature may generate.ther features worth noting include the three-lever trigger. Referred to as a “feather trigger,” it offers a clean, crisp pull with no take up or creep. Plus, it’s adjustable from three to five pounds, from its factory set weight of three and a half to four pounds. Then there’s the unlock button, situated on top of the bolt handle, which allows the rifle to be unloaded with the tang safety in the on position. Next is the bolt. With its three locking lugs constructed of solid steel bar stock, it provides exceptional strength. And with its 60-degree lift, the bolt not only makes for the fast cycling of rounds, it also ensures your hand clears the scope during cycling—no skinned knuckles here. Finally, the rifle’s removable rotary magazine is easy to load, and it feeds rounds from the center line for straighter chamber feeds. more

  • .300 Win Mag Hells Canyon Speed
This rifle is accurate out of the box and recommended it for hunters searching for a light rifle with high energy bullets and low recoil. The light 6.8 pound rifle made the 5-10 mile/day walks in rough terrain a breeze. ...The included muzzle brake works well and the recoil felt close to .243 winchester. As anticipated, the removable muzzle brake is loud. If you plan to hunt with muzzle brake, you'll definitely want to wear ear protection and make those hunting closely to you wear hearing protection. more

  • Hell’s Canyon Speed: Browning’s Hunt-Ready X-Bolt Rifle
This rifle is almost unnaturally lightweight yet sporting features adequate to tame the heaviest magnum calibers, the newest X-Bolt is a stunning combination of classic style and 21st century technology. For starters, th...e steel receiver has a gorgeous Burnt Bronze Cerakote finish that blends into the countryside while looking awesome. The action comes professionally glass bedded, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The barrel is floats freely for enhanced accuracy, and it’s also fluted to reduce weight without sacrificing any strength or rigidity. The barrel has a target crown while the muzzle is threaded and comes equipped with a well-ventilated muzzle brake for less felt recoil. The bolt has a 60-degree throw, and an adjustable Feather trigger comes standard. The action is built around a detachable, four-round rotary magazine, and the safety is easily accessible along the top tang. The composite stock, covered in A-TACS Arid/Urban camouflage, includes textured gripping surfaces and a palm swell along with a Dura-Touch armor coating and an Inflex recoil pad. Additionally, the geometry of the stock tends to distribute the line of recoil away from the shooter’s cheek. Sling swivel studs are built in. The final product weighs approximately 6.56 pounds and makes for a portable and delightfully accurate precision rifle. And while this rifle is available in a number of chamberings, my test sample came in .30-06 Springfield. more

  • Browning X-Bolt Hell's Canyon Speed
This particular model features a 22" barreled action that's been Cerakoted in Burnt Bronze and set in a composite stock finished with Dura-Touch A-TACS AU (Arid/Urban) camo which should blend in pretty well. The rifle co...mes with a fluted barrel and factory threaded with a radially ported brake, which will be nice for the range as well as a thread protector for hunting. This is particularly handy for traipsing through the brush so you don't accidentally knock the bolt open and eject a round and also so that you can unload the chamber without taking the rifle off safe. The rifle also features a 3 lug bolt with a 60 degree throw which is very fast and allows ample clearance of optics. Absolutely a great rifle for hunting. more

  • WEATHER BUSTER THE X-BOLT HELL’S CANYON SPEED RIFLE IS MADE FOR TOUGH CONDITIONS
THE X-BOLT HELL’S CANYON SPEED RIFLE is extremely beautiful rifle. The he action is individually bedded at the front and rear, ensuring the fluted barrel is free-floated for a consistent stock to barrel spacing along i...ts entire length. The rifle also has a muzzle break, which increases the barrel length and muzzle blast, while conversely offering a significant advantage in reducing recoil and muzzle jump. Other features worth noting include the three-lever trigger.
