How would you like to rate DPMS Oracle?
No need to spend a lot of money for an AR-15. This is a fine shooting rifle. I put a red dot sight on it and put a lot of rounds through it with no problems at all. It was so much fun I lost track of how many we fired. It was all 55 grain ammo. DPMS has been making these for a long time and the design and manufacturing is excellent quality. I am very pleased with this purchase from Bud's and highly recommend this AR-15. ...more
Decent rifle! When I received this rifle it was bone dry. Not a problem though. I just took it apart, cleaned it and lubed it like I do all my rifles. Everything seemed in place and I had zero problems with fit and finish. Took it to the range, loaded it up and the first trigger pull sounded like someone dropped a very lite needle on the ground. Needless to say, it did not fire. At first my heart dropped and I figured I got a lemon. So, I unloaded it, took the bcg out, checked to see if there were any problems but couldn't find any. I put it all back together and dry fired it about 7-8 times before it started sounding like the fire pin was moving freely. My thoughts are that it just needed to work the lube in spots I might have missed. After that it worked flawlessly. No FTF or FTE. Sighted it in at 25 yrds then pushed it to 100. Shot a full box of cheap federal power shock that I got for $11 a box at Walmart. All shots were in a 5" to 6" group. Wasn't going for tight groups but I just wanted to see what I could do with quick follow-up shots. I'm sure it could get decent groups with better ammo and more concentration. Trigger is fine for my intended purpose. All-in-all I found it to be a great rifle for the price point. ...more
great basic rifle
I bought this rifle as a base to cutomize with accessories I liked . My rifle has cycled and functions flawlessly . I have replaced furniture with Mag pul added a red dot and a sling . The trigger is lighter Than my Windham but not as crisp . Mine is made in the Huntsville Alabama plant and is very serviceable ! I love it and have killed a nice 8 point buck with it already !!!! But it and rig it the way you want since you have saved money by buying it ! ...more
308 entry level best buy
Michael, these two rifles are virtually identical feature/function wise. This will basically boil down to personal choice. They are even steven in reviews and you tube video shooting. My personal choice would be the Del-ton. You should visit a local gun shop and handle both firsthand to see which you may prefer.
What scope rings to use?
Jason, I highly recommend a 1 piece mount for greatest stability and return to zero repeatability. My recommendation would be the Burris Quick Release Mount here : budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/72958/Burris+410344+Proper+Eye+Position+Ready+1+Quick+Release+Sty
