How would you like to rate Glock 19 Gen 5?
As the owner of several Glocks it's hard for me to see a lot of the changes making an impactful difference from one Gen to the next. I do like the fact that they removed the finger groves. I do notice slightly less recoil on the Gen 5 19 from the Gen 4. I'm not a fan of the half moon cut out on the front of the grip. I understand why it's there but as I said owning several Glocks I've never needed it. The trigger is what you expect from Glock.... Mushy, grainy and about a mile of travel. I bought the one with regular sights with the white lining. If you've owned a Glock before you know that the trigger and sights are the first to go so there really isn't much of a surprise or disappointment there. However, it does continue to be one of the most reliable firearms out there and it was great to shoot. As far as the barrel, it's way more accurate than 98% of the shooters out there so unless you're a top tier competitive shooter you won't really notice the difference. This Gen 5 is just as accurate as the Gen 4 for me. I do like the crown they added to the barrel though. Unfortunately the major complaint I have is the new coating they put. It's more like a paint than a metal treatment. My Gen 4 is coming up in 8,900 rounds and has just as much wear as this Gen 5 after 400 rounds! I honestly believe this coating is garbage and a huge disappointment. Even the slide is showing unusual wear from holster use. Being a concealed carry gun I'm a little concerned about it and is the reason for the 3 stars. ...more
As expected! Carried a Glock 19 gen 3 off and on for years in OD green frame. This handgun is great for CCW of course. Ran a bit over 500rnds through it last Sat with zero issues. If even ate that shitty Winchester forged steel cased with no issues. Something my Sig P365 couldn't do. Pick one of these up before the left wing lunatics pull show their asses. ...more
Awesome service from Bud’s, which is honestly to be expected. This is my first Gen 5 Glock, and I like the updates. Glock didn’t reinvent the wheel with the newest generation, but they did make solid improvements while keeping it what makes a Glock great— simplicity and reliability. The 19 in gray looks great too, the only thing I’m going to upgrade is the sights, not a fan of stock Glock sights. Very concealable gun for a 15+1 9mm, provided you get a decent holster. If you’re interested in a concealable, high capacity compact pistol that you can trust your life to if it comes to it, look no further. ...more
The Glock has one of the most dangerous and idiotic take down systems in the world and unfortunately because of its marketing success every manufacture tried to come up with one similar but few made one that was safe to use or take apart. The Glock takedown requires you to pull the trigger before the slide can come off and the slide has to be forward. If you forget just one time to check the chamber you end up either shooting yourself or someone in the vicinity of the gun. Contrast this with say a Beretta 92 that requires you to lock the slide back which would then eject from the chamber a forgotten live round in the chamber. ...more
Easy purchase, and Bud's mailed it quickly to my local FFL. The G19 came with 3 mags, a plus, as I was thinking I would only receive 2. The end of the slide is beveled for easier holstering they say, but I like it for the look. The receiver is also beveled to match the receiver. I beleive that on earlier Gen 5 G19s that the receiver was not beveled, but that has been changed to this present configuration. I do like the trigger action better than my G19 Gen 4, not as much trigger travel. I really like the Flat Dark Earth color of the plastic receiver. It along with the black slide makes for a good looking pistol. I am looking forward to taking it to the range, and have no doubt it will be as dependable as my other Glock. ...more
