    Handy little rifle
I have been fascinated by the concept of the AR-7 Survival Rifle. I decided to buy one and have not regretted the purchase. The gun is simple to assemble, well engineered and pretty darn accurate. Cleaning is quick and e...asy too. I decided extra magazines would be nice, so I ordered two originals from Henry and a neat carry accessory bag. Buy original mags and don't buy cheap ones as you will not be pleased with their performance. An excellent product worth every penny plus great customer service from Academy. more

    Good back packing
Good backpacking rifle for a day or two hike! Packs all into the butstock of the rifle, and it floats. Always carry extra mag's, and ammo and a flare. It's not a bear stopper but if needed critter hunting or sn...ake shot ammo. more

    Nice little package
Sights are easy to see and adjustable for windage. Out of the box it took a couple taps and it was dead center on the target. The accuracy was on par with the 10/22 or Model 60. Now it does give a warning that the gun is... not for heavy plinking. It is compact and light enough that it fits in a backpack and will also float. The outer coating on the gun is teflon making it very resistant to corrosion. more

    Just as Advertised
I have always been skeptical about the sales pitch. I never believe anything I am told unless I verify it online with reviews and videos. I had heard about impeccable accuracy right out of the box. I did not believe it u...ntil I took it to the range. All I had to do was make a slight adjustment to the muzzle sight to get it center of the target at 20 yards. Elevation was a little off for the first 50 rounds while I got used to the sights. After 50 it was dead on. I cannot believe that I found a gun that delivered on all of its promises with aim. The muzzle sight is about 2mm thick so don't expect pinpoint accuracy. But I will have no trouble dropping varmints at a distance. The recoil is nonexistent. On to reliability, I had left the box of ammo I bought at home and ended up purchasing the house rounds. They are commonly cheaper rounds. In 100 rounds I only had one failure. Pulled the charging bolt and were back in business. I spit 8 rounds down range in less than 3 seconds, all on target. Assembly is quick. Gun breaks down into the stock, receiver, barrel, 2 magazines, all fit in the stock and is small enough to fit in a standard backpack with room to spare. It's light as a feather and practically impossible to get tired on. Cleaning is also easy. It only took 3 patches to clean the barrel the light dirty that I like to shoot. Probably 5 patches with clean as a whistle. Make no mistake though, this gun is NOT a weekly shooter for the range for me. It will be staying in my safe until I go camping or if I have to bug out. I'll pull it out every few weeks for plinking and target shooting at the range to stay sharp. If you want it to be a weekly shooter for you, I see no issue. It was reliable, light, and accurate, and at $209, a bargain. Little known fact. This gun's grandpa from the Armalite Co. was a movie star. The original civilian AR-7 was featured in the 1963 007 film "From Russia with Love." That movie is very accurate on how compact and easy to pack away this gun is. Long review, I know. Bottom line, I am proud to add this gun to my collection. I am confident I will be able to hunt while camping with it. I am beyond impressed with it. As a survival tool, its as vital to me as paracord and my knife. Don't second guess purchasing this gun. I highly advise you to buy one. more

    Great little rifle!!!
Got this rifle for our emergency bug-out bag because it can dissemble so easy and then within itself. This makes it very easy to store in the bag and its lightweight is a huge plus. Assembly is fast and easy. You can fee...l a little more of the kick because of the hollow stock once its empty, but its only a .22 so its not a big deal at all. I really love this gun and have never regretted getting it. The built in sights are also very accurate for shooting. more

Reliable When Kept Lubricated and Clean
I purchased this firearm a few years back at Academy in San Angelo, Texas for much more than the price drop price of $209.00 IF you could even find one. This is a reliable weapons platform if you keep it lubricated and c...lean. I have fired all sorts of .22LR and never had an issue. If you purchase an authentic extra magazine, you can keep all 3 stored and loaded in the butt plate with one in the magazine well. If you have any issues, contact Henry Firearms and they will make it right. Customer service is second to none! For $209.00 you can not go wrong for a truck gun or hiking security rifle.

For $209.00 you can not go wrong for a truck gun or hiking security rifle. more
