    Duaghter's new favorite
My 12 year old was ready to move up from her pink single shot first .22 so we purchased the Model 60SN. She put over 150 rounds through it the first day out of the box without a single problem. 1.5 inch groupings at 15 y...ards all day long. Synthetic stock meant easy wipe down of sweaty little hand prints in Texas summer heat and no dings or scratches. This will be the perfect platform to mount a scope on for the next shooting step up. I may have to buy one for my wife as well, she's trying to steal the kids. more

    Awesome .22
I've heard good things about these for years and my local store was selling the synthetic version with scope for $149 so I decided to take a chance. Was NOT disappointed. I have a Ruger 10/22 but I like this gun better. ...When I shouldered it at the store it pointed better and was so light weight I was in love. I've never been able to get the accuracy out of my Ruger that I wanted but this Model 60 was shooting clover leaves and hitting the same hole from the bench from the start. It just put a smile on my face immediately. Since then I've added a 2x7 scope and have done a good bit of hunting with it and it's been flawless. Before the first cleaning I was up to about 600 rounds of various standard and high velocity ammo from 5 different brands and not one issue. I'll take that with any gun but especially with a 22 which is an inherently dirty caliber. Mine is sighted in with CCI Minimags becuse that's what I hunt with but I plink with a mixture of everything out there and it cycles as fast as I can pull the trigger. I prefer this 22 for hunting because it actually holds 16 rounds in the tube. The Ruger either has 10 in the factory mag or 25 in the bigger mag which is not practical for hunting in thick woods with that thing sticking out the bottom. Ive had this gun wet while hunting in the drizzling rain twice and it functioned perfectly. Another huge plus was the fact that the synthetic version had sling mounts moulded in and the Ruger had none. Upon cleaning it took me about 2 minutes to break the gun down then run a borsesnake through the barrel. Blasted the bolt and trigger assembly with some dry lube and reassembled good as new. The whole thing took about 7 minutes. This is one of those rare occasions where there is simply nothing to complain about whatsoever. You've got more accessory options with the 10/22 but if you want a gun for hunting and plinking without getting too fancy this is THE 22. Could not be happier for the price I paid. more

    More Bang for the Buck!
I bought this during the holidays when it was on sale. Now after running many rounds through it and several hours at the range I really wish I bought two or three. Winchester Super-X 1420fps 40grn hp, Federal 1260fps 36g...rn hp and Aguila 1750fps 26 grn hp at 50 yards can empty the magazine and keep it all in a 4 inch circle with iron sights. Take your time and it drops to a 2 inch circle. Almost 60 I wear glasses on open sights that ain't bad. Firing as fast as I want with no muzzle climb makes follow up shots a snap. A great easy to operate, accurate tube feed that's not fussy about what ammo you use. I even ran some of the bulk Remington thru it with no problems and great repeat-ability I will say it is a youth model and I needed a 3 1/2 inch extension to give me the proper pull. Made from wood it matches the stocks contour and accepts the factory butt plate. I would recommend this to a friend. more

I owned one of these models with Squirrels etched into the wood handle about 30 years ago. I placed a high powered scope on it and there was nothing I couldn't hit with it! If I could see it, it was gone! Remember it has... a 19 inch barrel which gives .22 a full burn and full twist and a tad more. It can take punishment and come up for more! Rain, snow, dirt, sand and it still shot! It would eat any type of ammo standard to HV. Used to use only CCI stingers in them then otherwise I would have to resight my scope when shooting longer ranges with standard rounds. I am planning on buying one of these rifles this payday and you will be hearing me hollering as I tack drive my shots. I have had many different caliber rifles but this rifle was the funnest and most enjoyment came with this rifle. You willbe glad you bought it. more

This gun has been around for what seems like forever. It shoots just as you would expect it to. My dad bought this gun and we have both had the best time with it. It's just a flat out fun gun to plink with. If you're loo...king for a reliable and fun to shoot .22 autoloader, this is exactly what you're looking for. Fun Little Gun
This is a great, affordable gun!. I bring it to the range almost every time I go. I mounted a simple 4X Cabelas' brand scope on it and at 50 yards it's always hitting center of the target. Just keep some oil in your rang...e bag as after 200 rounds or so it gets a little dirty and needs a quick drop. more

    Best value 22LR semi-auto
Got the Marlin 60SN after some research, and am very satisfied with it. It is quite accurate with iron sights out to 50 yards (I need a scope to see any further) and the initial 200+ rounds of copper plated 40 grain ammo... cycled faultlessly, only some bulk lighter grain and non-plated bulk ammo stove piped, which I expected, but still had to try; so the cheaper ammo only gets used in bolt and lever rifles (and 22 revolvers) where they work just fine. Another big plus of the Marlin 60 is how simple it is to take down and clean. The superb Spee-D-loader makes fast reloading of the tubular magazine a snap. Recommended. more

    Fun and Accurate!
Purchased last week, had some range time today and run 300 rounds of CCI and Federal through...no stoppages, feeding was great, punched the paper where it was aimed. Only 2 negatives are the sights are tough to get a goo...d sight picture (swapped for fire-sights) and the trigger pull is pretty gritty (but adapted to that quickly). Stock is nice and the rifle is GREAT for the money spent...nice to get more than you paid for. more

    The 57 Chevy of 22's. A Classic
Where to start and where to finish ? This is a GREAT buy, whether it is on sale on not. It is a Marlin and has its 'micro-grooved' barrel. Accurate ? You bet. Well machined ? You bet.Nice furniture ? You bet.I bought the... 60 with the hardwood stock. It's finished in maple and looks and feels nice. Note that with the hardwood stock you don 't get the swivel studs for using a sling. With the synthetic stock you do being as they are "molded in".My PERSONAL preference is for wood stocks and everything I own has wood furniture. For folks choosing the synthetic stock option, enjoy your choice to be sure. That option stock does come with the molded checkering.IF you choose to buy a Marlin 60, I would HIGHLY recommend a product called the "Spee-D-Loader". Cabelas has it, item IK-222343. The 60 is tube fed, of course. Loading the tube by hand isn't impossible, if fact it isn't really hard. It's a little more time consuming than slapping in a magazine BUT with the Spee-D-Loader, it takes less than a minute to CASUALLY load 14 rounds and be ready for shooting again. The Spee-D-Loader safely holds 120 rounds and is quite conveniet to carry. Nutnfancy has a review on Youtube of the Marlin 60 (excellent review) that speaks of the Spee-D-Loader (two thumbs up).So if you're hesitating to by a Marlin 60 because it is tube fed, go ahead. Make your purchase. You will be WELL PLEASED.It make not look as "TactiCool" as some other models, but out in the woods, hunting, it says, "This guy knows his stuff". Enjoy and be safe. : ' ) more

    Model 60
I have 5 of these Model 60's. They have been made by different manufacturers....Glenfield, Savage, etc. and I really can't remember the last time a 'clean' one had any problem such as a jam or other problem. I have had F...TF but that was cheap ammo, not the gun. If you have a bunch of grandkids, buy a few of these, you won't be putting up with the hassle of clearing a jammed weapon when the kids are having fun.I have a couple of Remington's, semi and pump. They cost more and don't even compare in the reliability department. They are an excellent squirrel gun too. more

    Best 22LR on the market
The Marlin Model 60 is a outstnading 22 rifle. Accurate, dependable, high quality, and a great shooting rimfire. We have 2 in our family and I expect a few more of these fine 22lr's to be used by my family. Out of the bo...x and loaded up to and shot with no modifications or changes or upgrades. Fun Shooting
Shooting this rifle is so much fun, it makes me regret not owning a 22 rifle before now. A rock solid performer. Accurate, smooth firing, easy loading; though some might not like the tube magazine`. Fired an assortment o...f 22lr brands. All cycled and fired with no problems. Easy to disassemble for cleaning. All parts fit well, appears to be a well made product. I used a bore snake for barrel/bore cleaning as opposed to rod and patches, because of the way the rifle is made. Have shot at outdoor range and indoors. No scope yet, but one will definitely be coming! I purchased the SN, am pleased with the durability and ability to take rougher handling.Just fun shooting!! more

So good the wife took it from me
This was my second Marlin 22 I bought I wanted something with a wood stock and that could hold more than 10 rounds, and since I already had a 795 and loved it I figured this one would be a nice addition. This is a very s...imple rifle to operate all you have to do is drop the round in the tube, cycle the bolt, safety off aim and squeeze the trigger. it is very accurate, cycles without failure and I have never had a single jam or misfire even since I have been forced to use some really junk ammo lately because of the shortages. It is very easy to clean and since it is very similar to my 795 I wasn't apprehensive about tearing it down the first time. My wife had never shot a gun and when I was finally able to get her to come to the range I let her pick any of my .22's to shoot and she picked this one because it was "prettier than the black ones" her quote, she was able to tear the bullseye out after her second reload and before we finished she informed me that this was her gun and I would have to buy something else, now we buy these game targets like battleship or the dart board and she really makes me work for a win, she can outshoot our sons and even some of my friends. She has learned how to take it apart and clean it herself and this is someone with zero mechanical skills. It has a very smooth trigger pull, is very balanced, had mounts for a scope, my only gripe is it doesn't have sling swivels, but they are pretty easy to install. more

    Good Rifle
As a boy in the early 70's I saved up my lawn mowing money to buy my first gun. It was a Marlin model 60 sold under the Glenfield brand at the local Coast to Coast Hardware Store. Over the years I've bought, sold and tra...ded many firearms. Along the way I've owned three Ruger 1022's (with various barrels) which are of great design, fun to shoot and all that stuff but simply were not that accurate. After lots of research on semi auto .22 accuracy I went back to the Model 60. Paid $139 on sale at Bass Pro. Mounted an old Leupold 6X scope and consistently get 5 shot 1.5 inch groups at 50 yards with bulk Federal and Remington Golden Bullet ammo. That's about an inch better than any of the 1022's I've owned. For what its worth: I measure groups with a micrometer and count 5 out of 5! not 4 or 5 out of 10. In my humble opinion, the 60 beats the 1022 in the out of the box accuracy department but doesn't have the "cool / wow" factor of a Ruger. Buy what you want and enjoy. As for me, I'm going to teach accuracy over "cool / wow " to my grandsons. more

    Marlin model 60
This was the first rifle I ever had as a child. It was given to me for my eigth birthday by my grandfather. On Wednesday 1/14/15 i picked up a new one in the box to replace the first one I had that was lost in a fire. I w...ent up the mountain with my wife and proceded to load it up for the first time and fire it with the iron nsights. Out of the box it was on target and at twenty five yards shot under an inch.I put on a Simmons 3x9x40 .22 mag scope and in five rounds was on the bullseye at 100 yards with CCI Mini mag rounds. This little wonder was shooting under 3/4 inch five round groups from a bench all afternoon.Remington goldenboy hollow points were avering around 1 3/4 groups and Winchester Super X was around 1 1/2 inches. Surprising Aguila Super extra ammo shot more than one 1/2 inch group at 100 yards making it the most accurate ammo I tried. This little wonder is by far more accurate than I am and from a standing position I could easly shoot 2 1/2 inch groups at fifty yards and 3 3/4 groups at 100.This is by far more accurate than my Remington 597 and I will be buying another one for my wife as I could hardly get it out of her hands once she started shooting it.Let me rephrase that, I will be buying another one for myself as my wife told me Thank you for finding her the perfect .22What can I say it was cheaper than a new ring.Willard Walker more

this is an amazing 22. I think this is the best 22 someone could buy. I think this is better than a 10/22 and the accuracy is much better than a 10/22.

    great
First off , i researched a ton before my purchase . I compared to other guns, weighed pros and cons, i decided to buy it. So this gun is a classic!! Very smoothe, compact, light, and accurate. Some may say the ruger 10/2...2 is the better ,but with my deep studying , research and tests the marlin was better by far , way better accuracy, similar feeling though. A con to this gun is you cant get an extended mag because it is tube fed. but thats a classic feeling. love this gun!! magic meeks! more

    Bad Customer Service
I purchased a new Model 60 on the 26th of September along with a scope. I found that I could not mount the scope on the receiver inline with the barrel. I contacted Marlin and was instructed to ship the weapon the to Pad...ucah Kentucky repair facility which I did on 3 October. They confirmed the receiver was not manufactured properly and sent the weapon back to Marlin factory. Three phone calls and an email to both Marlin and Remington have been unsuccessful in getting a serviceable weapon back to me. It is now 19 November! more

    Why anything else!
I'm in my mid 50's. I spent most of my 20's shooting skeet, trap, bench rest, large-bore pistols, service rifle competition, and just plain plinking, I was a purist. Wisdom has taken over now. I wanted a new .22 that was a...ccurate that I didn't have to worry about banging around. The Marlin model 60 has always been a great firearm so that is what I decided to buy. I purchased the 60 SN so I didn't have to worry about scratching a wood stock and I saved some dollars. This is one of the best buys in firearms I have ever made. Balanced, accurate, And I mounted a Simmons 8 Point 4X12 scope on it with Butler Creek lens caps. Perfect gun for all of your fun needs. Don't buy a .22 scope, just buy an inexpensive center fire scope in one of the good but less expensive brands,i.e. Bushnell, Simmons, or such. Center fire scopes take take a little more abuse. See my review about scope rings(you might get a laugh). I bought the Redfield .22 rings.. more

    marlin model 60
This is an exceptional value for the price I paid. It is a flawless performer with not even one stovepipe or FTF in almost 500 rounds. The scope while fully unbranded (it is made in China but has no other markings), is b...right and stays zeroed. The only ding at all in an otherwise flawless gun is that the bolt release is somewhat sharp and requires a good bit of force to operate. I highly recommend. more

    Great Gun!
This was the first riffle I ever held when I was a small kid. Now that I moved out into the country where I want to be, I wanted to get a gun for plink/small animal control. I was back and forth between the 10/22 Ruger a...nd the Marlin, but I decided on the Marlin and I am very pleased with it. I have a pursuit 3x-9x scope on it and I have it sighted in at 50 yards. I used Remington ammo and I had a few jams, but I didn't have a problem with Federal or Winchester. It was a minor irritation, but that's the ammo's fault not the gun. I highly recommend this for anybody just looking to plink around or for a kids first gun. more

I remember as a kid plinking on my grandpas farm, this was the exact gun i first used except i had shot the wood version. I loved the gun so much i finally bought one of my own! It cycles well, no jamming, great capacity... and light weight i highly recommend it! Only draw back i can think of is neither version of this gun were in stock at the time so i had to pay in advance but the gun came the next day so i cant complain. Also .22LR ammo is impossible to find right now so be aware when purchasing a .22 at this point in time... more

I've had this rifle for a little over a year now and found it to be very reliable and comfortable to shoot. The full sized stock comes to the shoulder and cheek nicely and allows for quick target acquisition. Nice Little Gun
I received this rifle when I was 8 years old and have been using it for over 20 years. While it is not the most expensive or fanciest gun out there, it does what it is supposed to which is shoot straight. It works great ...as a varmint gun. The action works very well as long as it is cleaned and oiled regularly. The action is very easy to pull apart and reassemble. There are two downsides to this gun. First it is tube loaded, not mag loaded. For some people that may be an issue. The other is the sight is not that great. Luckily the sight can be replaced using just a screwdriver. Overall it is a good gun that will last forever as long you take good care of it. more

    Beautiful gun
Finally! Found one with the wood stock. Just beautiful and fun to shoot. This is my first .22 rifle. I'm glad I got this over the 10/22 because it feels better to me. My buddy shoots with a 10/22 and swears by it but, he...'s invested hundreds of dollars to modifying the Ruger and this one out shoots his Ruger right out of the box. No modifications done, just added a 3x9 scope and it's beautiful. Cheap to shoot, incredibly accurate and easy to operate and clean. My wife enjoys shooting it as well so hopefully, that will help her work her way up to a higher caliber rifle in time. more

    Nice little gun
Wanted to pick this rifle up at my local store but they didn't have it in stock. They found one and I ordered it on a Saturday, they had it there by Tuesday. I was pleasantly surprised by that! I immediately took it out ...and cleaned the bore chamber and the action a bit. Then I shot about 300-400 rounds through it. I shot some old Winchester wildcat lead nose: no issues. Remington bulk hi velocity hp's: no issues. Cci lead nose: one jam, federal bulk hp's: no issues at all... The rifle is very accurate but the rear sight does leave a bit to be desired. It wanted to shoot to the right and rear sight windage adjustment is non existent unless you want to bend the sight a bit... Still accurate as heck tho... I was knocking down clay pigeons set from 20-80 yards fairly easily. Needless to say I am very happy with this purchase, especially for $160. Can't beat it. Good job marlin... Can't wait to put a scope or holo on it! more

The Marlin 60 is a great rifle. It's accurate, reliable, and evokes memories of the past. I have had to ...send this rifle back to marlin (should take another month, fingers crossed) as it was shooting 6 inches left at 25 yards. I had 3 different shooters verify before I took it in.
