Great Value for a Very Accurate Rifle
I have had this gun for over a year. Have taken deer, hog, and moose hunting. I have it matched with Hornady's SST 165 grain ammo. This combination has been great. Very accurate! I purchased the wood version with th...e Vortex scope combination, as I enjoy that classic look. This scope does the job. I have no plans of exchanging it out, as it suits my needs just fine. In fact, this purchase turned me on to Vortex products. Love the value and overall quality; especially their VIP lifetime warranty. Overall, this Mossberg rifle with its fluted barrel and bolt and other "special" features is a great value at this price point. Very accurate gun, especially when matched the Hornady ammo. Can't go wrong with this rifle at this price. If you been waffling whether to purchase this rifle, just do it. You won't be disappointed. more

    It was the best
I can honestly say it was one of the best buying experiences I’ve ever had. I wasn’t pushed but not ignored. I knew kinda about what I wanted but was given opportunities for options but not pushed to the maxi...mum upgrade or upsale. He explained everything about each and allowed me to make the choice. That isn’t how it is anymore. But it was for me that day. It was a drive for me to get there. But because of this experience. I will continue to drive there for all my needs from now on. Thanks for a well needed shopping experience. more

    Great deer rifle
I bought this for the price. I have hunted with it this season. I was worried about the scope. I have taken 3 deer with it, one at 200 yards. This is a great gun for the price.

    Mossberg 30-06
Bought this rifle last year. Put about 40 rounds through it, keep it clean and it works like a dream. Quality of Mossberg, always great.

Better by far than the axis
If u are looking for a rifle/scope combo deal this is it. I previously owned a savage axis scope combo. It was a good rifle for the money but the recoil was like a mule kick. This same caliber 30-06 has recoil in the mos...sberg patriot but you wouldn't believe the difference. I wondered if I was shooting the same caliber a time or two. Not to mention at this price its like buying a good scope (if its still the vortex scope) and getting a rifle free. more

    Very Impressed
I bought the Mossberg Patriot black synthetic 30 06 with scope. The scope didn't have a name, but I think it's a DeadRinger...very accurate. Unbelievable feel to this rifle and fun to shoot. It came with a 5 sh...ot mag and 1 in chamber, but don't ask Mossberg for a part number for an extra mag. They will insist it's a 4 shot mag. and by chance fits 5 rounds...not a problem for me, I still love it....Great investment...I call it my "Sniper Rifle"...........(I think Chris K would approve and say it earned it's name, The Patriot).. more

Great gun for Price! Very consistant groupings!
I bought this rifle as my first deer hunting rifle and it is great, especially for the price. I didn't do the combo because i wanted a better scope, but was able to get it all for under $500, rifle, scope, and case.... I Took it to the range and after it was bore sighted i was shooting tight groups and dialed it in quick. It was very consistant. In the fied I shot a Hog from 110 yards and dropped him. (Didn't get eyes on a deer last year) I'm Very happy with it. and everyone ask me about it when they see it becasue it has a lot of high end features like the fluted barrel and spiral bolt and adjustable trigger pull. more

    WOW.....Great Rifle and Price.
I bought this rifle in 30-06 on Dec 8th 2016 as a early Christmas gift to myself with my wife's permission...LOL. I have been using my in-laws Remington 7400 and it was like carrying a boat anchor. Did hundreds of r...esearch and field tested many rifles and this rifle is by far the best for the price, which you can't beat. Very accurate right out of the box, very light weight. It is so light, that it is nice to sit and wait in the ready position and my arm and hands do not go numb. Just a great rifle. Scope is not bad and was able to zero in at 100 yards in 3 rounds. Does not have a real hard kick. Able to hold it steady after every shot. I'm not that much into hunting so I never bought a rifle before. But my brother in law likes to hunt and he has asked me many times to go with him, so I decided to go and use his Remington. After that I decided on my own rifle and got the Mossberg 30-06 which it can't be beat. I highly recommend this rifle for any newbies and expert hunters. You won't regret it. Now I can't wait for my birthday in April so I can get the Vortex Crossfire scope to add to my rifle. more

    Blue Collar Tack Driver!!
I bought his rifle for my son at Christmas last year. I did a lot of asking and much research on the Internet. Moss erg kept coming up. After we opened it up on Christmas morning, we took it to the range and had it tack ...driving at 100 after about 6 shots. For a $300 dollar gun, it looks great, has a very good trigger, comes with a fluted barrel, and has a spiral bolt. We will probably upgrade the scope in a few seasons but, it's plenty good for now. Great job Mossberg!! more

    very good hunting rifle
I have one in 30-06 I mounted a Nikon Pro staff 3x9x40 scope on it and I'm shooting factory load 165grain remington core lokts and its hits 11/2 inch high on at 100 yards. I love my Mossberg ATR 100 30-06.

    Not Bad I'm suprised
I was looking for hunting rifle, one I could take into the woods and didn't concern myself if I scratch it or not. The rifle didn't have to be over the fire place and admired for it's beauty or so darn exp...ensive that's how you would treat the rifle. I wanted something around $400 I looked at several rifles Remington, Rugger, Savage, and Mossberg. All the reviews for the first three I mentioned was really good I liked all of them but they all had one or two things I didn't agree with. Remington 700 great rifle but only down fall no magazine resulting in hand loading and unloading. At hunting camp possibility of having to load quickly either animal will be right outside or traveling the dirt roads you will see one off to the side. By law you need to travel with an unloaded gun plaint both feet on ground load and shoot. Remington 770 to cheap didn't like that rifle at all to many people not satisfied. Rugger awesome rifle no scope would have pushed the budget once adding scope. Savage Axis great gun loved the safety but stock felt flimsy Axis II liked the accurtrigger but stock same as Axis. Mossberg patriot new rifle not a lot of reviews felt good to my shoulder stock was firm. It is a true floating barrel, fluted barrel, fluted bolt, came with cheap scope (but surprisingly works well) recessed crown and adjustable trigger. Well under my budget with extra money for sling, carrying case, and ammo. Shoots great took 9 shots to get within 1 MOA using a lead sled. Since it will be only used for hunting should last for a long time suggest if your a range hound go with Remington 700 they last a long time have been told you can put thousands of rounds down range with this rifle. more

    Loose Screws!
I bought this gun a few years back. When I took it out of the box, every single screw was loose on the gun, including the scope rings. I tightened everything up and went hunting that year. great rifle for the money
I bought this rifle without a shope in camo 2 years ago. Paired it with a BSA optics 4-16x40. It hasn't let me down. Shot a buck right at 500 yards with it. I would recommend this rifle to anyone. Also for new hunti...ng enthusiasts do not expect to buy this gun with a scope and go out and hit where you aim. Everyone shoots and sees different. The rifles may be bore sighted but this does not mean accurate at all. Bore sighting is only to get you in the general area. Fine tuning will need to be done for sure. These rifles are shipped and get shaken on the way even in the box and this will also cause your sights to be off. So you will need to sight it in for accuracy. This is with any rifle so no need to be discouraged and write a bad review based off of this. Also I would recommend buying loctite 222 purple thread locker for the scope mount screws. The screws will still be easy to take out but this keeps them from vibrating loose. Great on bows also. I hope this review helps the next guy. The rifle is amazing even being inexpensive. Very good quality and smooth bolt. No complaints what so ever. If I miss the target it is due to my own problems or bumping the scope off a little. Not the rifles fault. Would recommend to anyone. more

The rifle itself is great. The fluted bolt is for show as the flutes are shallow but so what? The bolt is a little gritty out of the box but a little Flitz and a Dremel shined it right up. The trigger is acceptable. If y...our comfortable stoning it, it makes it much nicer. Accuracy wise the rifle is at least as good as any in it's price class and better than most. The Scope is a fairly cheap one but what did you expect? Works ok but I bought a Nikon Prostaff and it is quite a good comb. At this price buy one, it will make you a great rifle for hunting. I will buy another without hesitation as bolt rifles are utilitarian to me. If it shoots at least modestly on target thats good enough for a hunting rifle for me as in 2 MOA. This one does that more

As soon as the gun arrived i took it out to shoot to see how far off the scope was and i must say i could have killed a deer the first time without even sighting it in. It wasn't far off at all. Hardly any recoil but boy... is it loud. Best rifle iv'e had yet. more

The bolt action is smooth and it fells solid. Rifle was easy to zero. Trigger is nice and it can be adjusted but there was no need to. The ordering on line was easy and my FFL dealer was on the per-approved list. I would... recommend this rifle to a friend.

I thought the gun came bore sighted, but I couldn't hit paper at 25 yards. I had to remove the bolt look through the barrel and then turn down the scope. Now that I was on paper I was able to tune in the gun. No that the... gun is sighted in I am able at 200 yards put four shots on a 1" bull's-eye . Watch out Elk. more
