This 870 Express Trap shotgun has the proven engineering of extremely reliable non-binding twin action bars for smooth, nearly effortless operation. Featuring a precision machined ordinance steel receiver and a breech block that locks into the barrel extension for unparalleled strength it's one of the strongest pump action shotguns that money can buy. This 870 Express has been optimized to turn clays to dust with a 30" barrel that has a metal mid-bead paired with an ivory front bead to put you intuitively on target. It accepts standard RemChoke thread pattern choke tubes, and comes with a set of three chokes specially developed for the clay fields, including a 16 yard tube with a .028 constriction. Remington 870 Express Trap Features

The Remington 870 Express Trap is a pump-action shotgun specifically for trap, skeet and waterfowling on a budget.  This 870 is built with a 30 inch smoothbore barrel equipped with easily replaceable chokes and is topped with a vented rib and single front sight bead.  The stock includes a rubber buttpad to help absorb some of the recoil allowing you to compete in a trap and skeet competition all afternoon.

Remington 870 Express Trap Ballistics

Remington 870 Express Trap Capacity

The Remington 870 Express Trap has a 3 inch chamber and feeds from a fixed magazine tube that can hold up to 4 shells.  Rounds are loaded directly into the magazine tube through the laoding port in the receiver.
Measuring approximately 48 inches long with an unloaded weight of 8.2 pounds, the Remington 870 Express Trap is on par for mobility and handling as nearly every other pump action shotgun on the market.  If you’re okay with an action that isn’t smooth enough to slip out of your hands and you’re okay with a trigger that works perfectly fine but doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, this might be a good entry-level option for you.

Remington 870 Express Trap Ergonomics

Ergonomics
Though the controls are identical to every 870 variant and the stock and forend contours are very familiar, the biggest differences between the Express Trap and shorter models is the more front-heavy balance and a slight increase in weight.  If you get the models with the decorative checkering on the stock and forend, you’ll likely notice that the wood furniture is more slippery due to the high-gloss clear coat finish.

Remington 870 Express Trap Fit & Finish

The Remington 870 Express Trap, like all other express models, is built on a receiver cut from a single billet of steel as opposed to being forged from a proprietary alloy.  This surprisingly reduces the overall cost of the gun and even provides better longevity when considering the total round count.  The blue finish of the steel parts has been brought into question as of late, however if you use a synthetic oil, it shouldn’t rust.
