    I Love This Gun
Can't go wrong with a good ol 10/22, awesome accuracy, nice, traditional and natural feel (I have the wood stock). This is my go to gun for small game hunting and with a 3-9x40 scope it's even better.

Love the Rifle Hate the Magiazines
Well. I. Purchased the 10-22 ka month or so ago and replaced the trigger with a lighter pull and polished it ago even get lighter. I got a fish scale with a hook on it and when I hook it on the trigger it takes 27 oz to ...break the trigger. I dont think i can get any better than that on trigger pull. more

    Incredible!
I've had this rifle for at least several months now and I am very pleased with this purchase. The front sights are very precise and ideal for long range targets. Have not used a scope yet but I'd imagine it would take an...y scope and a very far target at ease. more

    Ruger 10/22
A really nice rifle and value. Shoots great. I’m 66 years old and cannot focus on the sights, so I put a red dot on it and it shoots half inch groups at 25 yards all day.

    Ruger 10/22 .22LR
Finally after several years of shooting I picked up this .22LR.I'd give it a 5 star rating if the wood was finished a little better. There is a rough area near the barrel ring on my forward stock. It's not bad enough that... I'd want to return it, since I waited almost a month for the gun to come in. Maybe I'll sand it down and refinish it or maybe not. more

    Rifle for Grandson
This was on a big sale at Cabela’s so I bought one for my 10 y/o grandson. This was the Carbine version with a wood stock so I cut about an 1 1/2 off to better fit him. Debated putting a scope on it but decided to inst...all a red dot as eye relief is not critical. I wanted to get a magazine feed rather than a tube as it’s easier to deal with a jam. Every one on the Internet bleats about the trigger action but the one on this rifle isn’t all that bad. What I don’t like is the bolt release. Ruger says the don’t equip with an auto release due to safety considerations but thrashing about trying to get the bolt released is counter productive. I ‘m also not dead keen on the fact that the bolt won’t stay open on the last shot so I load a snap cap first thing into the magazine. So far, there’s nothing outside the 9 ring and I think he’ll be a safe, intelligent marksman. more

Great, well made semi automatic 22. Iron sights are a little plain for older eyes but the fold down rear is a nice feature. I added Ruger look through scope mounts and that was a perfect combination!!

    Good Old 10/22
I love the 10/22. This is not my first one. The particular one I bought had an alignment issue with the rear sights. I solved this problem by installing a BSA 3-9x40 scope. I also installed the bx-trigger. I plan on usin...g hypervelocity ammo like stingers so I also installed a bolt bumper. I now have a varrmit killing machine that is fun to use. I think the bx-trigger helps improve the target shooting capabilities with much less jerk in the trigger. All of this is possible because of all the off the shelf improvements you can find for the 10/22. The 10/22 also uses a wide array of 22 LR ammo There is an ammo line for any use you can come up with. more

    Good Gun
Ive only had the chance to take it out once but worked flawlessly no jams. My only complaint are the iron sights. The front sight is a gold bead that was hard to pick up in the sight window. Considering putting a tru-glo... beads on instead. Otherwise seems to be very reliable gun. more

Truly The Best .22 Rifle Sold Today
I got my first 10/22 in 1976 at age 11. Living in the country on a farm with ponds, a creek, and lots of timber gave me a game warden's list of animals to hunt and varmints to keep in check. I seriously doubt a 1ton truc...k could carry all the .22 long rifle ammo I've ran thru just that one rifle and spare the odd bad round from Federal, I've never had a misfire or errant discharge from that gun. Having grown to love my Ruger 10/22 I've collected every model produced by Ruger in the 10/22 line, and love shooting each one. But I still enjoy shooting my first....the original one my Dad gave for Christmas in 1976. If made to guess, I would have to say that rifle has digested well over 750,000 rounds. Yes, that's seven hundred fifty thousand rounds, and it still goes bang and hits dead on every time I pull the trigger. I've ran many thousands of rounds thru all my other 10/22's as well, and each one has proven just as reliable and accurate as my first one. For a young shooter just getting started or a old pro who loves to plink away at whatever, there truly is no better .22 caliber rifle to fill the role. Solid, accurate, versitile beyond belief with more mods available to personalize it than you can imagine, and built to fit a younger shooter, there is nothing that instills more pride than that screaming eagle logo on a new Ruger. They're easy to keep clean and maintain with easy to operate controls from the mag release, safety, bolt hold-open lock, and scope mounts with quick release and return-to-zero rings available, the 10/22's are perhaps the best gun period to teach young shooters responsibility to take care of something and to become a responsible gun owner and shooter. From the carbine to the full length manlicher stock rifles, there is a 10/22 to fit every sized shooter and introduce a young one to the shooting world, whether it be hunting or just cutting the centers out of paper targets. You just cannot go wrong with a Ruger 10/22! more

    A known quantity
Ruger 10/22s have been around for 50 years. They are good, solid, accurate rifles. Mine was the basic wood stock model. My only complaint is that they took shortcuts with the stock finish; it was not sanded completely. H...owever, it seems that these days, most people discard the stock anyway, and replace it with an after-market unit. more

    Ruger - Great Customer Support
I now own two Ruger 1022 rifles. I bought a 2nd rifle recently from Cabela's to customize and add a Nikon scope. The gun I bought had issues with taking the ammo from the magazine where the bullets would stick in the mag... by only releasing the bullet half way and this would cause a malfunction. I returned the gun and Mags to Cabela's to have them return back to Ruger about three weeks ago and Cabela's just called and said the manufacture Ruger replaced the rifle with a new one and to come pick it up, so I am giving Ruger (American Made) customer support an A+. I must also note that my other 1022 has never had issues in 20 years. more

    Quality Surprise
The reason for writing this review is to tell you to check the rear sight before taking delivery. I bought the rifle for my grandson about a month ago...he doesn't live nearby so I decided I should take it to the range a...nd test fire it to be sure everything worked ok. Surprise...it didn't. I'm not a great marksman, but I'm good...I have the ribbons from military. I was shooting freehand...but all my hits were a good 6 inches left of the bulls eye in a relatively tight group. The group was good...just fully left of the target. when I got home and started cleaning the rifle I noticed the rear sight was fully left in the dovetail slot. Later while cleaning the weapon further I grasped the sight and it popped right out of the slot. I slipped it back in and at best it had about a pound of drag in a very small section of the dovetail. I called Ruger...they want me to ship it back to them...but I need to wait nearly two weeks since they are closed for Fourth of July week. The gun did fire flawlessly while at the range...but finding the rear sight wasn't locked in makes me wonder about how good quality control might be on other parts of the weapon. I guess the reason for writing this is to tell others to check the rear sight when you buy the weapon...I was disappointed I didn't. more

    BEST ALL AROUND MADE
I was gifted with a Ruger 1022 rifle by my father in law for Christmas in 1982.. At the time we were living in the Magic Valley area just north of Twin Falls, Idaho. Starting in the fall of 1981 the jack rabbit populatio...ns exploded. The rabbits were destroying whole farms by eating all the crops. The Magic Valley farmers association offered free ammunition for anyone that wanted go rabbit hunting. My self and three buddies would go out on the dessert at night and spotlight jack rabbits from my jeep CJ. We all had Ruger 1022 rifles with 50ound clips. We would go thru at least two thousand rounds a night each, sometimes many more. Other than cleaning and maintaining the rifles, we had no problems with the Rugers ! more

    Best .22 ever made
I was given one of these as a kid. It was in storage for well over 20 years. I took it out did a thorough cleaning and took it shooting. I couldn't believe how good the condition was. I then went to Ruger's website and t...o my surprise, there is a ton of good accessories for this gun. I bought the tri mag clip at bass pro for this and its made it even more fun! It is very accurate, it has not once jammed on me and is easy to maintain, if I could give the 10/22 10 stars I would. Buy it and you'll love it!! more

I try ed 4 different types of ammo. only got a group 2 inches at 25 yards. not impressed. I shoot a MOA at 100 yards with my rem 700 .243 . so I can shoot a little. I was looking for a inch or less. but not with this gun... . I will contact RUGER. The gun feel nice. looks nice . and is easy to clean. I was hoping for more than just a plinker. but it shoots well and no jams. I do like this gun just wish that the group was closer. I will take off barrel clamp and see. will post later. 300 rounds so far. and will send photos. yes I use sand bags. more

Looks great, but it's picky about ammo.
Bought one several months ago. I was very excited to take it out shooting. Cleaned it up and headed out. What a disappointment! This rifle is super picky about the ammo you use, and even more so if using anything but the... standard 10 round clip. Do not plan on using a square nosed bullet with this gun...HATES them! Remington Yellow jackets in particular. When the gun does jam or miss feed it's more of a pain to clear than it ever should be, just because of the design of it. I've got a Mossberg plinkster and an old Marlin .22 that both eat up ammo like nobody's business. Once I found some ammo that it liked there was a huge improvement, but that first impression has stayed with me. Time will tell if I grow more fond of it, but you can get 2 of many other .22 rifles that work better for the same price. more

    Better than the typical 10/22
Although titled the same (Ruger 10/22 Carbine), this model has several additional nice features. It comes with factory installed Williams Fire Sights (much nicer than traditional sight), a 20" (vs. 18.5") barre...l which makes in handle nicely and less like a kid's gun, and a stock that does not have a barrel band. Mine is a 50th Anniversary model and has anniversary markings on the receiver and bolt but this is just aesthetics. For the reasons listed above, I think it's well worth getting this particular model instead of the traditional carbine that sells for the same price. Can't go wrong with a 10/22. Good for the money
For the money you can't find a better small game or target 22. This is also the most upgradable 22 on the market. You can keep it stock or change it to resemble an AR15 or anywhere in between. Do yourself a favor and buy... at least one of the 25 round mags to go with it as the stock 10 round goes too quick. I added a 3-9 x 32 scope to mine as well. more

The best 22 caliber value there is!!
I really wanted a AR style rifle that I could take to the range quite often and not go broke buying ammo ! I did a lot of research, viewing customer reviews and such on line and quickly discovered that Ruger would be my ...choice. Ruger does make a sweet 10/22 in a AR platform but is priced at over six hundred dollars, being a little more than I wished to spend. I decided on this carbine model and bought it and a ATI/RUGER AR-22 stock kit at the same time on sale. Its a sweet little setup and a great combined value. I can't wait for next week as I'm headed back to Cabelas to buy the the Bushnell AR optics 1 inch scope! Maria at Edmonton south side store is great to deal with! Couldn't be happier. more

    Plan on some tune ups.
Had to do upgrades. Volequartsen hammer, so the trigger wouldn't feel like I was pulling on a wrench, Volequartsen extractor so it wouldn't stovepipe, pistol grip stock because the bend in my wrist was weird, only three ...fingers on the checkered hand grip, and the length of pull was short, a scope because although I liked the iron sights (except for the fact that the front dovetail was loose and I had to superglue it) they were a blur because of my aging eyes, a problem the scope fixed, and trouble with the BX 25 mag, which left the rounds nose downward so they would not feed, but stayed stuck in the mag, if it was loaded more than 20 or so, but a sanded down .22 SPENT cartridge inserted as a bearing in the wheel the spring is wound around (a fix I found on the internet) helped, and I think with some breaking in the mag will work out OK, but when it runs, it's a fun rifle. It's easy to clean and runs OK dirty when it's tuned in. If you don't mind spending a little (or maybe a lot) extra...yeah, it can be part of the fun, but put more into it than I first planned. more

7 - 8 lbs trigger plug! Ruger are you joking! Barely any of the reviews bother to mention this obscene trigger pull. Of course there are lots of utube videos to fix or adjust this or you can spend some more money getting... a target trigger. Contrary to other reviews telling us that the Ruger is unreliable out of the box my own first hand experience contradicts this assertion. And I don't believe i got a "golden" rifle.Yes the Marlin may be cheaper... but what you see is what you get. There's virtually no aftermarket add ons or upgrades, whereas there's a whole rack of stuff available for the Ruger; however I'm not writing a review about who has the most aftermarket goodies.I bought my Ruger 10/22 primarily so I could take my boy to the range and help him with his Scouting marksman award. So off we went.Right out of the gun case the shots were off but I have to say that I was using a red dot scope which had just been put on the rail, so inaccuracy was not the fault of the rifle. Three, three shot groups later and I was plugging the center X every time. I particularly like the Ruger magazine. It works flawlessly. I have other 22's which have the same magazine type as the Marlin and I've experienced failure to chamber a round from time to time, and It seems this type of vertical magazine leads to being picky over ammo types. The Ruger does not have this problem.Am I happy I bought a Ruger over the Marlin? You bet I am and so much so I went out and bought a second one two days after purchasing the first. I have yet to be able to get to the range to try out the second rifle but I can tell you, if it turns out that it's not dialed in after three groups, I'll follow up on this post to let you know. Mind you I have a feeling that the follow up won't be necessary. And as a parting thought. I got my second rifle for the princely sum of $190 on sale. more

Save some money buy a Marlin
I have no doubt the 10/22 cult will all mark this as "not helpful" but I'm just trying to help people out. Contrary to the sales pitch of being known for it's "out of the box competition", there are a... great many semis that are much more accurate out of the box. Do your research and see for yourself. A Marlin 60 is far more accurate "out of the box" 95% of the time. Sure you'll get the "golden one" occasionally but as I said, your chances of getting an accurate one out of the box are MUCH better with a Marlin, savage, browning, Henry etc.. I believe the 10/22 stands for "you'll spend 22 dollars for every 10 you thought you would". Sure it's got all kinds of replacement aftermarket parts......because IT NEEDS THEM! i.e. replace the barrel to make it accruate #but of course now you can't shoot stringers#, replace the 15lb trigger to be able to shoot it etc. What good is a hammer forged barrel if it's not accurate? That said, they are built well ....as long as your target/game is going to be shot VERY close up the 10/22 may be for you. Last but not least, the 10/22 is NOT the most popular 22 ever sold. Again, do your research. Marlin 60 is top seller of all time and always will be #and ~100 cheaper#. more

    Nice plinker
Purchased this gun to go with my Mark I pistol, I am very happy with this gun I have had it about 6 years now. I recently have put a Vortex scope on it and it has been very reliable and fun addition to my collection. I d...on't know if it is as accurate as my old Remington bolt action but it is close. I have two aftermarket 25 round magazines that required a little filing around the lip but they work flawlessly now. Many things you can do to modify this rifle, I don't think you can go wrong with it. more

    Very Good First Gun
This was my first hunting rifle that i received for Christmas. I recently tested the Ruger at the shooting range by me, and i must say it was definitely a great purchase. Without a sight, i'd say i was about an inch off ...the bullseye, at about 60 yards. Then i put on the Simmons 22 Mag Riflescope 3-9x32mm 511072 sight and shot perfect every shot at 60, 70 and 80 yards. more

    Great!
This is my first .22 rifle. I've taken it to the range a couple of time and put at least 700 rounds through it so far. I have to admit, I was expecting it to jam but it fed and ejected beautifully. Sights were spot on ou...t of the box. Magazine is very easy to load. I might even sell my .22 revolver because I expect I will only be interested in plinking with this rifle. Great purchase, I would definitely recommend. more

    Best .22 Rifle
This was the first gun I purchased to start my collection. Now I have two of them. I would say this is the best first rifle for anyone. They are easy to shoot and break down for cleaning and not too heavy for a kid to us...e. You can get almost any accessory you can think of and it eats up any ammo without issues. I recommend the new BX25 magazine from Ruger. They are flawless and don't misfeed like some of the aftermarket ones do. The price has gone up over the years, but it is still the best rifle for the price. more

Great gun with a bad trigger
This is really a great semi-automatic .22 but Ruger has burdened it (and their customers) with what is arguably the worst trigger in the industry! The Ruger 22/45 must have the same poor trigger. Depends on what your looking for
I've got MANY 22 S/L/LR rifles from those that are older than myself to less than a year old and like or love them all. Obviously my nickname should tell you what I prefer however. As reviews would indicate, the 10/22 is... not a bad rifle but it does depends on what your looking for. If your looking for something that you can turn into some sort of pretend looking thing other than what it is, the 10/22 is for you. If you are looking for REAL accuracy at a reasonable price get a Savage (my Mark IIs are best). If your looking for a semi automatic that's still pretty darn accurate get a Marlin. 10/22, contrary to it's claims, is the least accurate out of the box of all the forementioned choices. IMO the 10/22 is about $50 over priced. more

    Ruger 10-22
I bought this gun a few days ago and took it out today and shot it. I was looking for a new squirrel hunting gun and this is not it because the accuracy is simply not there. I used 7 types of ammo and CCI Blazer was the ...only one that would produce a group at 25 yards that was almost tight enough to utilize to hunt squirrel. ruger 10/22 takedown scope trouble
I loved my new takedown until I put the scope on it. Now, the base is too high and covers the iron sights up. You can't put the butt/receiver in the case with the scope and I had a terrible time sighting the gun in. I fi...nally got the adjustment ring tight enough that I could just barely put the gun together and it shot pretty well. Try to repeat the process and you better have 50 rounds of ammo to sight in again. I think Ruger and Cabelas would have been better off deleting the scope provision from this gun. I'm taking the scope and mount off so I have a reliable weapon. Oh, the stock plug in the pistol grip fell out on the first shot, wasn't glued in well. more

Not as good as they used to be
My brother has one that is about ten years older and it is of superior quality. His bolt is a much better finish and trigger housing made of aluminum not plastic. Trigger is very bad and an aftermarket hammer or polishin...g of factory components is a must. Polishing of all friction points is a must in my opinion. My dad gave me a Ruger 10/22 carbine for Christmas, 1965. At first I was disappointed since I had never heard of Ruger; I wanted a Winchester or Remington. Great gun to shoot. I've had mine for 11 years now and have probably put 150,000 rounds through it. After a while some parts ware out ( had to change the firing pin and extraction claw twice) You can easily find replacem...ent parts because so many aftermarket companies make parts for this rifle. I do recommend the magazines with the steel lips and an auto bolt release. The most reliable ammo I've found is the federal 525 bulk ammo or any other that is copper plated. Excellent after Minor Upgrades
This is my first rifle that I've owned, but not the first one I've operated. I was looking for something reliable that was inexpensive to shoot. The Ruger 10/22 Takedown fit the bill perfectly. The case is an awesome edi...tion, making it easy to transport. After getting annoyed by several jams, I upgraded the extractor to the Volquartsen and added the automatic bolt release as well. Shoots like a dream and the jams are gone. Added a scope and a couple of BX25 magazines. Inexpensive and fun. I put 50 rounds through a target the size of a golf ball at 25 yards. Still very good, but has cost-cutting changes.
When some say nothing has changed since the 60s on this rifle, they are quite mistaken. The basic design remains the same, however a number of not-so-obvious changes have been made.1) lower receiver/trigger/and guard is ...carbon polymer, not aluminum.2) receiver is not polished, is textured and epoxy painted.3) barrel is not blued and smooth, has fine turning spiral visible and is high-temperature coated black.3) breech-bolt is not polished on underside, is rough textured, but functional.4) barrel band is polymer. more

    Best buy for the money
I have the take down model, the best feature I like about this rifle is how fast and easily it breaks down, much easier and faster than my browning. Fit and finish is the only reason I gave the ruger 4 stars. The biggest... problem I have is my rear sights dovetail was not machined at the factory perpendicular to the barrel. You can see that it is visibly crooked. I put a small scope on mine so I folded the rear sight over and don't use it. Great rifle, Unmatched reliability
Recently acquired a ruger1022 and after shooting 500 rounds through it on my first outing, found it to be a very nice surprise, its simplicity matched with its reliability, the first 500 rounds out of the box without a m...alfunction, not to mention its light weight and simple good looks in my book make it an outstanding weapon, I am very happy with my purchase and thank you to the staff at Cabelas for your friendly helpful and prompt service. more

    Best quality .22 out there
I've had this .22 going on two years now and have had no problems with it. I payed more when the new model came out for the stainless steel barrel and it was totally worth it. A friend purchased one with the normal barre...l and even with good care already has rust on the barrel while mine stays spotless. completely reliable and good quality while still being crazy accurate. Personally, my favorite feature about this .22 is ability to customize it how you like, with hundreds of stocks, clips, triggers etc in the market currently. more

    new versus old
had a new one 33 years ago, it worked flawless right of the box. But my new one had issues, finish not as good and jammed first shot, turn out it had a metal burr on the bolt face and magazine would not release at times.... All been repair and works prefect. I must say a little dissapointed. I've had air rifles made better. It likes all ammo except one, Winchester LHP 333 bulk, i've had problems with this ammo in my other 22s. more

The best .22 you can get
If you want a .22 that will last, easy to maintain, and accurate this is the rifle you want. Yes, it does cost a bit more that other .22 LR but like it is said you get what you pay for. I was grouping 20 rounds in a 3 in...ch circle at 25 and 50 meters with a tasco 3x9 scope on it and easily hitting targets at 100m. I was shooting cheap blazer rounds out of it and did not have one jam. I have a good friend who has owned one for about 15 years now and it still shoots just as good as mine that is a year old. You cant go wrong with a 10/22 spend a little more and you wont regret it. more

Good Plinker lots of aftermarket support
The Ruger 10/22 is a good rifle if you want to accessorize it. but its accuracy leaves a bit to be desired. I own a cheaper Marlin Model 60 that drives nails at 100 yards but the Ruger hits near the mark. And with the re...movable mags its faster to reload and you can get high capacity mags for it. Just like every other .22 cal out there picky about ammo but its only .22 ammo its super cheap so get the quality ammo it does fine. more

    Ruger 10/22
Even though it is a little pricer than other 22 rimfires, it is worth every penny. The I have had mine for a year and it has never jammed, shoot every kind of ammo that I have put through it. The only drawback is the 10 ...round clip, I haven't had any trouble with it but when you are target practicing you can run through one really fast. I would recomend the 25 Round Clip made by Ruger, Cabellas now sells them to, it is very well built and I have never had a gam up with it. This is a great gun! more

I love my 10/22 for everything that it is: reliable, light, and easy to shoot. The thing that it isn't is super accurate. no regrets with purchase
I was contemplating between this Ruger and the Savage 64 G. I liked the Savage's longer barrel and I've heard it was also very accurate and came with sling studs all for $199. But after handllng both for awhile I found t...hat the Ruger felt more comfortable and well contoured. I also like the flush rotary magazine. Also, lots of after market parts if you decide to go that route. I put about 150 rounds with no jams. Very smooth, I had a great time. Very accurate out of the box with iron sights. I would have given five stars if it came with sling studs. That'll be an extra $50-60 to have a gunsmith do it. But other than this rifle is well built and very reliable. more

    Best 10/22 Ruger Makes
I bought the VLEH model with the bipod as a plinking/mess around rifle. I now use it as my GO TO gun for shooting prairie dogs, target shooting, and shooting any other small varmint. 175 yds, wind blowing right to left, ...I dialed in my Cabelas Tactical scope, and squeezed off a shot. Split the dog right down the middle. Set up some clays (ones we had missed while shooting my Ruger Red Label) and at 200 yds, I was able to put several shots right in the middle of these targets. If you want a 10/22, this is the one to buy hands down. The Hogue stock and Heavy barrel make this rifle feel like a centerfire tactical rifle, but allow you to shoot all day long without breaking the bank. Take one out while all your friends shoot their favorite 22 and watch them start wanting to shoot your gun!!! more

    It is what it is
Like an AK-47, the 10/22 isn't going to win any awards in the "match grade accuracy" departments or for ultimate fit and finish. This is a working tool. It is a product of the American industrial system, just a...s the AK-47 or AK-74 is a produst of the Russian industrial system. With standard or premium hunting ammunition, the 10/22 is utterly reliable and acceptably accurate. You can depend on it. It represents good value for money. Everybody into rimfire rifles should own a semi-auto rifle and a bolt-action rifle. The Ruger 10/22 is the best all-around semi-auto rifle, just as I feel the CZ 452 is the best all-around bolt-action rifle. The world tends to agree, as both rifles have been sales leaders for decades, and for good reasons. You can find better rifles in both categories, but not anywhere near the price. more

    Can't be beat.
For a semi-auto .22 this is as good as it gets. I have had mine several years and do not have a single complaint. I have owned many other types and they just do not compare. Has the accuracy of a bolt action, endless acc...essories, and is extremely reliable. more

    everyone should own one
this firearm is one of my favorites i have had mine for 10 years and it has held up wonderfully. there is an endless selection for after market parts. the gun is easy to clean and cycles well on most brands of ammunition.... every household should own one of these. the 10/22 is worth every penny and then some. more

    Untouchable
I have had my ruger 10/22 for about 8 years now and I have tried out quite a few different 22 autoloaders and nothing has come close to the performance of the 10/22. My favorite thing about the 10/22 though, is that you ...can buy everty single part, literally, aftermarket for it. Would recommend this as anyones first rimfire rifle. more

    Ruger 10-22
By far one of the very best .22 rifles ever made! Fun to shoot, accurate and tons of accesories on the market for this gun! I would recommend using quality .22LR ammo like the CCI stingers, they do not jam!
