    Very Happy
Great Ruger quality and it looks and feels amazing. I bought this gun a year ago and have had absolutely no issues. I get that feeling you get when you see a muscle car every time I pick it up.

    Ruger SR1911 10mm
This is my first RUGER pistol I have bought. This is an outstanding firearm. The fit and finish is top notch. This pistol has the best trigger I have ever felt in a 1911 style pistol. RUGER claims a 4.3 pound trigger pul...l. I will say that is dead on. Smooth and crisp break. Shot 2 boxes of jacked hollow points trough it. The pistol functioned flawlessly! The 10mm is a tack driver. The pistol shoots very well, manageable recoil. Has a match grade, fully supported, ramped Bull barrel. Also has Titanium firing pin. The pistol is all stainless steel. Take down is a breeze. I highly recommend this pistol. I'll put like this, I will trust my life with this pistol! No cons to speak of. Go and buy it you will not be disappointed! more

    Excellent fit and workmanship
I purchased a model 6700 (full size 45) when they were first introduced because it was one of the few 1911 style pistols out there that was traditional. No recoil spring guide and no front slide serrations. These are per...sonal preferences. The pistol was tight good slide fit to frame, barrel bushing fit and lock-up. This all before I left the store with the pistol. I purchased for personal defense and like the rear sight for carry. I'm a big guy and can get away with it. In first shooting the weapon I was impressed with the accuracy with an array of ammunition, ball, self defense hollow points, and cast lead target bullets. I'm an old bulls eye shooter and this pistol eats the center out of the targets at 25 yards right out of the box. With modern manufacturing methods the new 1911s are fantastic. more

    Mediocre quality
I was expecting better. Maybe I should not have. My other 1911 is the SA Mil Spec. Both are priced much better than the high end models. The trigger is not smooth, it clicks twice before the hammer fall. And after 100 ro...unds, the firing pin spring is worn. So much so that the firing pin slams into the receiver and sticks in the taper. It isn't bad, this is what I picture with something like a $500 1911. more

    Lightweight Lemon?
Bought the LW Commander (6711) on 11/17/17. Folks at the gun counter were nice enough to let me examine several that were in the box. Judging by the test fired casings, all were manufactured early to mid 2015. I research...ed this model extensively and have carried the 1911 platform on and off for 30 years. Fit and finish was good compared to the Colt LW Commander which was a rattle-trap. I would have preferred more of a positive click when activating the thumb safety. more

    Ruger SR1911 10mm
I bought the SR1911 10mm when they first came out back in June of this year. I will have to say that this is one of my favorite handguns that I own (and I own a few). I added a tritium front night sight and the dark wood... grips with Ruger logo medallion along with a flared magazine well. Accuracy of this gun is amazing. I am consistently shooting quarter to half-dollar size groups at 10 yards with it using Sig Sauer 180gr ammo. I plan to carry this handgun as a hunting sidearm as well. I am a big fan of Ruger and have always had good results from any and all of their products I own or have owned through the years. Being a fan of 10mm, I had been looking at the other high-end 1911 10mm's for some time, but just didn't feel good about letting go of that much $$$ for it. But as soon as Ruger released the SR1911 10mm and they were available for purchase, I didn't have to even think about it. Another excellent American-made firearm from Ruger! more

Great shooting and great looking firearm
Bought this pistol and instantly wondered why I had waited so long. Great feel, extremely accurate, recoil is smooth but firm, not snappy or violent. Great 1911
This was my first 1911. What a great gun ! You just can't miss with this and Ruger did a fine job. I loved the 1911 platform so much I went out and spent twice as much for a Kimber. The Ruger is a better gun, flat out. I... have not had one issue with mine and don't quite understand the negative reviews on this site. Send the gun into Ruger if there are issues. They are great as I have had to deal with them in the past. They will go above and beyond. I just might get me another ! more

    Excellent shooter
I have put ~250 rounds of 230 grain FMJ ammo through the Ruger. It has performed flawlessly even though it is still in what would be considered the break in period for a 1911 pattern pistol. I has shown good accuracy in ...my just returned to shooting hands. I need a lot of work, but I'm consistently getting 25 shot 5" groupings at 5 yards. The gun shoots better than I do. more

    A superb choice!
I carried a 1911 for a living in the Army, and wanted one for old times sake. The SR1911 has all of the modern updates while still looking and feeling like the service piece I remember. Light, Functional, Overall Very Nice
Slightly loose fitted slide, that and the integral feed ramp on the barrel may be how this pistol feeds many different shapes of bullets, right out of the box. The trigger has a little drag, and could use a little hand f...itting, but for the price I expected as much. Might be a great 1911 for those with dexterity issues, as the recoil spring is light allowing easy manipulation of the slide.Shot with acceptable accuracy with a variety of jacketed, plated and cast bullets. Not a match gun but a low recoil, light carry piece. more

    Awesome
I'm lucky to have the new 9mm lightweight commander and it's proven to be a very accurate and reliable gun. Perhaps the best choice of 1911 9mm on the market. Ruger comes through again
I bought my SR1911 when they first come out and I couldn't be any happier.I put a little over 1200 rounds through so far and no issues whatsoever. No jams or heavy fouling but, the trigger (skeletonized),has a wee bit of ...play (side to side) A little heavier than some but man, talk about the easy recoil. I love the fact I can squeeze off rounds quite fast and accurate with little to no hesitation at reacquiring the target .Disclaimer: I've been a longtime Ruger fan and 95% of what I own are Ruger. My dad and brother both went out and bought one after shooting mine. To this day, our SR1911's, are all of our go to guns. They haven't carried their old favorites since then. more

    It's a Ruger - It Works
Just got the SR1911 Commander as a birthday present a couple of weeks ago. I took it apart and cleaned & lubed it before going to the range. Slide-to-frame fit is tight, like the barrel-to-bushing fit. Once at the ra...nge, I had a couple of FTF's with my reloads, the kind that always chambered in my Colt 1991A1 Commander. Switched to different reloads using different brass, and the problem disappeared - evidently the chamber is a little tighter than the Colt but that's okay. The Novak sights are very good. The trigger pull is good, but I may play with the overtravel screw to see if I can improve it. Once I put a few rounds through it my groups began to tighten up; 100 rounds later it was dropping them right where I aimed, and some of the holes at 15 yards were touching each other. After the initial few rounds, I experienced no other problems. The magazine springs are STRONG; it's tough loading 7 rounds into them. more

    Really Nice 1911
I have owned mine since they first introduced this gun to the market. Solid feel and very accurate. Have shot at least 300 rounds through it with absolutely no problems at all. Plus with it being stainless it's very easy... to clean especially if your shooting dirty target practice ammo. Have had no problems with it shooting any brand of ammo through it. It really is a great gun for the price. Every now and then Ruger runs specials and you can get this gun at $599! You can't beat that for a very reliable gun. Ordered 3 different sets of grips for mine. Love it!! more

My first pistol -- I couldn't have chosen better!
I field stripped my SR1911, cleaned and oiled it before firing my firs box of 50 rounds, not a single issue. I pull the trigger and it goes bang!Out of the box the slide was so stiff and tight that when new I had to cock... the hammer to rack the slide. After 200 rounds it is much easier.I did purchase an UpLULA to ease loading the magazine. It is worth every penny. As a newbie I think 5 inch grouping at 10 yards is not too bad. I worked on my grip and the pattern really began to tighten up. The pistol is far more accurate than I am. more

    Excellent 1911
First let me start by saying yes, I am a female and I am a die hard 1911 fan. I found this one and decided to add it to my existing collection of 1911s (everything ranging from a highly customized Officer model, a Nation...al Match, XSE (the National Match and XSE are competition guns), a Ultra Raptor II (my carry of choice), and a Super Carry Pro). I love this firearm as much as I do my National Match and XSE (I was shocked). It is accurate, easy to handle and just a basic good weapon. For a female with a smaller hand it is balanced nicely and a comfortable fit. I thought I would buy it just to have something else to play with, but it is making me think there is a possibility it could be a reliable competition weapon. I want to run a few more rounds, but so far I have not been disappointed. Now if my Ruger Match Competition ever comes in I'll think I have died and gone to heaven! more

    Best 1911 bang for buck!
I was so impressed with both the "Government" & the "Commander" that I bought a pair of them! I took the full size gun to a PD reserve academy qualification shoot after only putting 50 rounds thro...ugh it. I ordinarily would not have done that with a new gun but, it is a Ruger! At any rate the outcome was a 495/500 qualifying score (1 in the 8, 3 in the 9). The other 46 punched out a single hole in the X/10 that you could put your fist through. Great purchase! After years of contemplating another sidearm purchase, I knew I wanted a 1911. Did some more research, and short of spending a lot more money, I decided on this item. American made, bushing and barrel mac...hined out of the same billet, features beyond any competitor in the same price bracket, and at the time of purchase, $75 off. I have had this sidearm for 3 months now, with approximately 250 rnds fed through it without a single hiccup. This is now my EDC. reliable, dependable, police duty worthy
Great gun right out of the box. This gun is now my police duty weapon, I'm a Reserve Officer. I have L.E. qualified twice with this weapon, once on an outdoor range picking up dirty ammo off the ground after tactical sho...oting drills and reloading, no malfunctions of any kind after over 1000 rounds. I was in a group of 9 officers, 4 were shooting Springfield XD's 40's and 45's, the other 4 were shooting Glock 40's full and midsize. All 4 shooting XD's had malfunctions multiple times, the guns were the cause not the shooters , 1 of the Glock shooters had a malfunction but it was him he admitted, not the gun. My Ruger sr1911 ran flawlessly, not a single problem. This gun will run fine even when filthy dirty, it has been machined with the tolorences needed for real life, in the trenches shooting. You have GOT to buy one
Started reading about this gun a couple of weeks ago and put it on my "bucket list"...Yesterday I happened to be down at Cabela's and looked down and there she was...they only had three in stock, now they only ...have two. Took it out to the range and -wow- was I impressed. Note I am NOT a good marksman, When I'm shooting my Glocks I'm lucky to keep ten shots in a dinner plate size group at 10 yards. Well right out of the box I was shooting this gun -way- better than I ever shot my Glocks. Ran 50 rounds down her and prolly 45 of them were inside of a saucer sized group. As for the fit/finish/appearance, I've read "professional" reviews that called this gun something of a "plain jane" 1911...Don't you believe it. This is a -nice- looking gun and has all the features you need and none of the "fluff" you don't. I highly-highly recommend this firearm to anyone contemplating a 1911 purchase...It's just awesome. more

    Ruger has a winner!!!! SR1911
I am an avided shooter of handguns and shoot regularly in IDPA matches. The Ruger SR1911 is one of the best 1911 that I have put my hands on and I am comparing it to pistols like STI and Wilson Combat which are considere...d among the top of the line 1911's. The Ruger is one of the very few pistols that needs no upgrades, its great right out the box. It will shoot sub 2 inch groups and has handeled several different rounds from various manafutors as well as hand loads with out a glitch. Many of my friends have been greatly impressed with this pistol. If your looking for a great 1911 that won't break the bank then forget those costing 1000's their really not worth that much money! You will not go wrong at all with the Ruger 1911 more

I am in love with this pistol
This is a fantastic pistol. I'm certainly no Annie Oakley, but I was shooting 2 inch groups at 45 feet the first time I took it out. We shot 200 rounds of reloads through it, and didn't have a hint of a problem cycling. ...The trigger is smooth and light. The balance of this weapon could not be more perfect.Overall, this beautiful, American made pistol is a joy to own and shoot. I I could not recommend it more highly -but good luck getting one. more

    Lucky stars
I thank my lucky stars that I got this gun before everyone found out about it. I've had Colt series 70 1911s and this beats it hands downs. If you can find one, get it before the price goes up. And it will go up when the... word gets out. more

    Love at first sight
My brother had been wanting one since Ruger starting making the 1911s. Hard to find. He FINALLY got it. He loves it. But-he may not be keeping it for long. I was always a rifle person myself till I saw it. She's pretty i...n the stainless steel and it fits my hand perfectly. Little sister is in love. He may have to go on a waiting list for another! more

    Entry level 1911...my butt!
First off, Cabela's was great. I ordered this gun through their central office. I was told at that time that there was only 3 in their entire system. But less than 7 days later, it was in Tulalip. Took it to the range wi...th some dreadfully low quality 45 plinkers - 230gr moving at a glacial 850 ft/sec. 100 rounds without a hitch. Hits were low and left, but groups were under 2 inches at 8 meters. Can't wait to put some higher velocity rounds through this badboy and track it up to center. Unbelievable feel to this gun. Great balance. Aims naturally, though all 1911s seem to have this characteristic. Love the feel of steel in my hand. Can't believe that I got this gun for less than half the price of other 1911s. I would strongly recommend this gun for its quality, value, and accuracy. more

The pistol you could have spent $2,000 fixing up!
I have a Colt M-1911 A1 that I spent at least an additional $1k improving the fit, trigger and function, and it still does not shoot as well as the out-of-the-box Ruger 1911.The first day with the Ruger 1911 I shot, free... handed, a 7-round group of 1.5 inches at 21 feet. For some bull's-eye shooters I know this is no big deal, but for me it was sensational.Trigger break was smooth and crisp, no creep or discernible overtravel, sights were natural and easy to acquire. We ran truncated TMJ's hollow-points, and ball ammo of various weights and there was never a bobble or malfunction. If you want a gun that looks great, and works as though you spent an additional grand or two tuning it up, but don't want to waste the money, just acquire one of these. Odds are that it'll last several lifetimes and be one of your favorites. Ruger's got a real winner here. more

    Great Gun
I've had my SR1911 since July but I wanted to wait til I had put more rounds through it to write a review. Over 800rds now and only 2 FTFs both from the same after market ten round mag. Never had a feed or ejection probl...em with the stock mags or any other mags, so I'm pretty sure its just an issue with that one mag. Gun looks awesome, nice fit and finish, feels great in the hand, looks awesome, shoots nice tight groops, and very managable recoil. more

The most bang for your buck!
I had been looking for a good 1911 for a long time but most of them were just too expensive for what I wanted. Then along came the SR1911 which has far exceded my expectations! I have put over 500 rounds thru mine with n...o problems what so ever! I did'nt even have to give it a break in period. Hollow points, full metal jackets, factory, or reloaded ammo it just did'nt matter it ate them all with no proplems! more

    Love This Gun!
I have been searching for the SR 1911 for about a year. The local shops in my area had been telling me that the wait list is so long not to bother or some of the shops just said they don't have the gun. I was very surpri...sed to get a call from Cabelas that my new weapon had arrived. more

    What a Gun!
Just got it yesterday, but due to weather, just got out today and put 100 rounds downrange. I know it's not much, but I was really surprised with shooting comfort and accuracy. Recoil was minimal, allowing for superb, co...ntrolled rapid fire groupings. Blew out the bulls eye on my first mag at 20 yds! It's a real confidence builder. No FTF or FTE. Fun shooting handgun. My wife even tried it. She calls it the "big gun that she can shoot"....she usually shoots 22's.Only problem is that I'm going through more ammo than I expected. The "gun-guys" at the Owatonna Cabelas said that I would like it and once again, they were right! more

    RUGER SR1911 - SIMPLY AMAZING!
I purchased an SR1911 from Cabela's last month. To say I love this gun would be an understatement. I LOVE EVERTYTHING ABOUT THIS GUN. It has a great feel, a great trigger pull and is truly a pleasure to shoot. It exudes ...quality and is a very elegant expression of an iconic firearm. After putting more than 500 rounds down range (without any FTF), I can't wait to get back to the range. RUGER did a fantastic job. I'll bet John Moses Browning would be quite impressed. more

Exactly what I was looking for...
After 3-weeks of being number one on the waiting list, my Ruger SR1911 came in. During those 3-weeks I kept looking at all of the American made 1911's and came really close to picking up a Springfield 'Loaded' model in s...tainless. I compared this Ruger with a Kimber Custom II and a Springfield side by side before committing. Fit and finish of the Ruger was every bit as good as the other two 1911's. The trigger pull on the Springfield was the best. The ramp and throating of the Ruger and Kimber looked perfect with the Springfield looking a little rough on the throating. All 3 of these pistols were very similar physically with the Ruger leaving me with a little more cash for ammo. The Ruger came home with me. At the range, 50 or so rounds through it with no fail to feeds or any other problems. Not a lot of testing, but I did manage to get a decent 15-yard group with 8-rounds. One high flyer when I realized the group I was putting together and got rattled. more

    Ruger 1911
I have been doing some research on buying a entry level 1911 and kept running into this ruger, how reliable it is, the sexiness factor is out the roof, I'm not a experienced shooter by anymeans, but this gun can make any...body a good shot. Unless you want a rail for a flashlight, or spending 1800 on a 1911 this is the best for the money. If you can find this gun, buy it. I have been looking for a year and finally found it, they got two of them in that afternoon, and as I was filling the paperwork out the other one sold.not even 5 hr.s of being on the shelf. I am 100% pleased with this purchase. more

    SR1911
Iv'e had mine since last June, went in to buy a different brand and walked out with the SR. I had been looking at it but due to the wait time I was going another route, to my surprise it was Ruger days and they had a few... extras whichone became mine. I love the feel , the balance, the trigger is very good. So far no FTF or FTE and I have run ball and hollow points through it. It's a tight gun and very accurate, 50 shots at 7 yards in a group that measured a little over two inches. From a rest at 25 yards it will surprise you. Best money I spent this year on a handgun and I have bought four of them including the Ruger. Worth the wait? I.d say yes, just hope they bring it out in other calibers I'd like to see a 38 Super myself. more

    Great 1911
I purchased a Ruger SR1911 from Cabelas in Kearney, NE. What an awesome firearm. This is my 5th 1911 from various manufacturers and this one stands at the top of the list. The fit and function is superb. It has most of t...he features that I want/like in a 1911. The front grip strap could use some checkering, but other than that it is perfect. I have put over 500 rounds with different types of bullets and have had zero malfunctions.....it works every time with several different brand magazines. Actually, I have yet to load up the two magazines which came with the SR1911, but I am sure they will function without incident.I highly recommend the SR1922 from Ruger and recommend you get yours when they become available. Furthermore, the staff at Cabelas in Kearney, NE bent over backwards for me on this purchase. I have had nothing but good things happen to me at this store. Highly recommended more
