For the money, there are better options...My first Ruger, and maybe my last. First impressions were OK, but after several magazines it started jamming and failing to feed (both Winchester and CCI). The feed ramp on the b...arrel needs to be polished (or cleaned off with your finger every few mags).Be careful when cleaning the magazines. If you don't reassemble them exactly, they will fail to feed properly. The follower can go in several different ways. The "no warranty" thing bothers me as well, though I have yet to need it. more

    Great little gun
I purchased one of these over three years ago for my wife to start shooting pistols. We have loved how fun this thing is. I have had a couple short cycles with the gun, but only when shooting the bulk cheap ammo. Very to use controls, nice trigger, and recoil is super light. If you are looking to introduce someone to the shooting sports, I absolutely recommend starting them on a .22. This little gun is great for learning, training, and just plain fun. more

    Mixed Bag
I like the feel of this gun as. It’s fun to fire. Out of the box the sights needed adjustment - fired high. Within first 200 rounds (I use CCI mini-mags) the gun jammed - round failed to chamber. I called Ruger and the...y said the .22 does that and if it does it more often, like every magazine, than return it. Uhhh, really? more

    A fun little plinker
I have the 3.5" and have been shooting it for about a year now. I shoot it on a fairly regular basis with whatever ammo I find on sale. For my purposes it is a great little item. The interchangeable grip is nice, I 6"2' and it feels good in the hand with the larger grip. The controls are a little funky to me, swipe up is hot, the DA trigger pull is pretty bad, and the SA trigger pull is alright but nothing to write home about. Only ammo issues I have had is with CCI Stingers and Rem Vipers, if I chamber one and do not fire it they tend to stick in the chamber when I rack the slide to clear it. Keep that in mind when unloading ALL THE TIME with this gun would be my advice. 100% do not recommend as a self defense piece but is a great one for target and a woods/fun gun. Shoot safe, Shoot Straight! more

    awesome little 22.
I have owned this nice little gun for around a month. It did fine, however, during the first 100 rounds it did misfire 2 times. I did not clean the gun before I shot it so maybe that is why it misfired. I am still it in so I have to consider that and ammo type as well. Other than that, it has performed great and it shoots smooth and does not have a heavy trigger pull. It was easy to disassemble but a little difficult to reassemble the firearm, that's just me though. So far very accurate gun, very nice and light, and if your thinking about purchasing this gun than I support it. more

    Nothing but problems
Failure to feed, double feeds, jams and failure to extract from day one. Fired about 500 rounds. Tried several brands of ammo including mini mags. Very frustrating.

    Excellent Semi-auto 22 LR !!
WOW, what a piece of fine-tuned machinery !! Bought the SR22 (3.5" threaded barrel) in Dec. from another dealer. Hundreds of rounds of CCI MiniMag (close to 1000) not a single misfire, or any other problem. The sigh...ts are very easy to pick up and the grip allows for great instinctive shooting. The pistol is very light/compact. I am considering using it for concealed carry. more

    Great gun but defective

Five stars. Haven't had it long. Only 400 rounds through it but they consisted of multiple velocities above sub sonic. CCI, Remington and Federal from 1050 fps up to 1500 fps without a single failure to feed, fire or eje...ct. Very easy to dis-assemble / re-assemble. Accurate enough, 1.5" at 10 yards. Very ergonomic, my wife loves this thing. Heck, I love it. more

After buying a Sig Mosquito I thought I'd never buy another 22 but to save money on practise I did buy one the SR22. I've only shot about 300 rounds with it but I'm very happy with it. 20 rounds broken gun
Took my new pistol to the range and on the 3rd round out of the second magazine, the slide has locked open. I do mean locked open. It is seriously jammed up. Using CCI standard velocity which I use in all of my .22's. I ...have owned several Ruger firearms and never had an issue. The gun will be taken back to Cabellas and hopefully they will assist in shipping it back to Ruger for repair or replacement. Shocked and disappointed in this gun. more

Over 1 year and shooting Great
I have had this pistol for over 1 hear now and it is still going strong and regularly goes to the range. It is also good for target practicing doesn't break the bank and fun to shoot. more

    nice but has issues
I must say this is one of those love hate guns. It shoots great, takes a variety of ammo, lightweight, all those things I was looking for in a 22 carry gun. The down fall, it has an aluminum slide and steel slide stop. A...fter less than 500 hundred rounds, it developed a large burr on the side of the slide stop. I sent it back to Ruger which replaced the slide for free and sentit back to me in less than two weeks. Cudo's for the great service, but this is going to happen again. After a few mags thru, I can already see the slide marring from hitting the stop which is steel. You decide, from now I am counting rounds so I keep one in the chamber and then reload. more

    Great purchase
It's been 2 months since purchasing my Ruger SR22, and I still love it. It is easy to shoot and easy to clean. Breaking it down for a deep cleaning the first time made me a bit nervous, but it was all for naught, it ende...d up being a lot more easy to break down and put back together than I thought it would be. I take it to the range five days a week and have not been disappointed with its performance. It's not too big and bulky, can be carried in comfort. more

    Ruger exceeds expectations again!
I compared this Ruger to many different other manufactures and shot several at the range before buying this pistol. Hands down the most accurate and fits my rather large hand very well. It will shoot whatever ammo you pu...t through it unlike a lot of the other brands I shot. If you want a great gun for a reasonable price this gun would be the pick. Ruger has done it again with out of the box accuracy. more

    Awesome 22 Pistol
First off, I have about 600 rounds through this bad boy and only had one malfunction very early on: failure to chamber a new round and that seemed to be cause by an under-powered cartridge. I have put 300 rounds of 25 old Rem Thunderbolt, 200 rounds of Rem Golden Bullet HP and over 100 rounds of CCI Mini Mag HP and Velocitors through it without issue. The gun is inherently accurate (w/ fixed barrel) and it depends on the shooter, although the shorter sight radius makes it tougher to achieve tight groups. I also own a 6" Beretta Neos and a Ruger Mark II Target and this SR22 is so much more fun to shoot than either of those. Although the Mark II is crazy accurate I feel like I'm holding up a clothes iron when I shoot it, for rimfire its so heavy! Not so with the SR22, I've spent hours at a time shooting it and takedown and cleaning are worlds easier than any Ruger Mark. more

    Could Be Better
I purchased a Ruger RS22 LR SA fm Cabelas. Next day I went to range, loaded 9 rds of .22 CCI LR, 29 Grain rds. Released slide and first rd chambered. Fired, casing ejected but slide failed to chamber next rd. Pulled slid...e to rear and then released; chambered and fired rd. Did same thing again. Switched mags and same result. Changed to Winchester 40 grain rds , experimented with # of rds in mags. Will fire without a problem with 7 rds.Anything over 7 will not chamber next rd. Tried CCI 40 grain rds at 7 rds per mag; Worked great. Tried the 29 grain Rds (CCI) again with 7 per mag; Had nothing but problems with rds failing to chambered.. If I could have test fired this wpn I definitely would have not purchased it. I have a Beretta SA made in 1966-chews thru any type .22 LR without a problemholds 15 rds in the mag. U would expect better quality fm Ruger. more

"Swat" the other one and go with the Ruger. This thing eats any ammo I've thrown at it while my buddy messes with FTEs constantly on his "competitor's" model. There is no competition in this price as far as I've seen. Tons of fun to shoot. more

    Best 22 out there
We shopped for a handgun for my wife and everything kept leaning her towards the Walther P22. Then she was able to handle the Ruger SR22 and she was hooked. The two grips for size difference, the two clips were just on the cake. She shot it for the first time and loves the feel, more solid construction and great to shoot overall...........Great for Target Shooting and I'm sure the 22LR will deter an intruder if need be.Recommend to all first time shooters who think a 9MM is the only way to go......Too bad its so hard to get ammo.............but its not the end of the world. more

I did a lot of research before choosing the Ruger SR22. I examined the Browning Buck Mark, Beretta Neos, Ruger 22/45, Sig Sauer Mosquito, Smith&Wesson M&P22 and 22A, even the Walther P22. After weighing the pros ...and cons of each, I drove to Bass Pro Shop and purchased the SR22. I am very happy with the gun and would tell anyone that it's the best 22LR pistol for the money. The gun is built well with excellent fit & finish. It is accurate and has fully adjustable sights. It comes with two 10-round magazines. The pistol is simple to take down and clean. Shoots great! Doesnt cycle too well with Federal Champions or Winchester 333/777s. Haven't had any no fires with CCI mini-mags and Remington Golden Bullet. I love this gun!
Like many people, I recently started looking for something fun and less expensive to shoot than my higher caliber handguns, and a couple of months ago I bought my SR22 for that purpose. I love being able now to go to the... range a time or two each week and not spend a fortune in the process, while having a blast each time. Along those lines, one of the SR22's particularly great features, as many reviewers have stated before me, is that this gun doesn't care much what you feed it, and that's a great trait when ammo is still so hard to find. But in truth, all of its features are great: incredible accuracy, superb ergonomics, light-weight construction but extremely sold feel, hassle-free takedown and cleaning! Oh, and I almost forgot, the three-dot sight system is hard to beat. Even in poor light, without any of the enhancements of fiber optics or other techier add-ons, this little gun provides a clear and fast sight picture that lets you hit and stay on target round after round. Maybe this isn't literally the perfect fun gun, but if it isn't, I don't know what is! more

    Not so Great
Purchased this pistol about 2 months ago and have taken it to the range 3 times. First time out it would not make it through a single magazine because the tabs on the magazine that keep the magazine safety off were not l...arge enough. I bent them out and the next time I went to the range it shot great for about 100 rounds. Then i noticed the shots were 'keyholing" the target. The guy next to me was shooting a 45 and I was putting bigger holes in the paper than he was. After 100 rounds the barrel was extremely fouled with lead. It took 30 minutes to clean the barrel out. Took it out again and the same thing happened. Ran the same ammo through my Ruger 10/22 with no fouling. It was cheap ammo, but thats the point of shooting 22. Dissapointed in this pistol more

Great Gun Even with Cheap Ammo!
I have put over 2,000 rounds through this gun and it fires great! I have fired both the CCI and the cheap-o bulk ammo and very little issues ever! Never a single FTF with CCI! Make sure you oil and clean the gun as the ....22cal rounds are very dirty and eventually will cause the occasional FTF with the cheap bulk ammo. The only ammo that caused many FTF was the Auto-Match ammo, they are garbage. There was 1 FTF for every 5 rounds. My buddy has a Sig .22 cal and he had almost every round FTF, so proof that the Rugar does better than any other .22cal with cheap ammo. I bought this because it is highly rated with cheap ammo and they were not wrong on that. It's like a purse dog
I purchased the SR22 for my kids and wife. They like it because there's less recoil & noise and it looks like dads gun. We've had a few FTF and misfeeds, but after 500+ rounds, it's getting better. I was told it will... eat bulk garbage and they're right. If your looking for accuracy, go with the Ruger Mark III. My uncle has a Mark III and it shoots like the solid gun that it is. I also have a Ruger Single Six and it too is a better gun than the SR22. Another Great Ruger
I purchased this pistol as just another pocket, easy to use pistol. I've run more than 5000 rounds through it with no problems. The magazine is a staggered style. If you have the slide locked back and slam the next magaz...ine in the pistol it is possible that the top round will jump up a little and try to feed high. That's not an issue to me because you really have to slam the magazine in hard to get this to happen. I have read other issues people have with ejection failures. I can tell you that I have large hands and when I grab high with my left hand, my thumb sometimes drags the slide and fail to eject all the way. This is not the pistols fault but the operators. I do tend to lube my slide rails rather heavy on all my pistols. This is the life of your firearm and a little extra Extreme Weapons Lubricant (EWL) or a good synthetic grease will cure any problems. My little guy is so accurate I am amazed every time I shoot it. Our home made 2 inch square spinners are nothing to hit at 31 yards. Rarely do I miss more than twice with a 10 round magazine. The only thing I'd change is the safety. You push it up for fire. That's a little backwards but so is my CZ 452 HM2. I would recommend this pistol to anyone who loves to shoot a lot and accurately. It is fun, small, easy to clean and I haven't had a problem with the take down lever as someone else mentioned. I'm not sure what the issue may be there. I've had it apart to clean it 8 to 10 times and the barrel takes nothing to clean. more

    Great 22 pistol
I bought one of these when they first came out. I Love this pistol, I am an NRA pistol instructor, and 4-H shooting sports instructor, and I used this pistol a Lot with many people, and women and kids, everyone shoots it... well. It is very reliable, and will shoot any bulk pack ammo. The fact it comes with 2 mags is also nice. I am sure mine has over 5000 rounds through it, and it has been flawless.. more

    absolutely love this gun
I bought this gun a few months after getting the wealther p22. I love the Ruger so much more. It's more user friendly (safety and mag releases location). And it came with 2 mags. Highly recommend it. Great starter gun or... just for fun. more

Very accurate and super fun shooting paper
Picked this up as a range gun and also because my wife doesn't like shooting larger calibers. I was torn between the Walther P22, the SIG Sauer Mosquito, or just buying a conversion kit for my Glock. After reading the re...views online the SIG was my choice going into the store. This Ruger wasn't even on my radar. more

    First Time Gun Owner
I purchased this gun after a friend introduced me to hers. I wanted to learn how to use a gun, but was not ready to use a bigger caliber so I decided to learn on this one. Its a lot of fun and easy to use and easy to car...ry! My only issue is that sometimes the cheaper ammo shells get stuck in the chamber. I have not had any issues with the CCI mini-mag bullets. Over all, I am totally satisfied with my purchase more

    Small issues but love it!
I bought this for my wife and enjoyed it so much I had to get another for myself. Its light weight and easy to conceal. After 400 rounds, only 1 FTE and 1 FTF with bulk Remington ammo. Everything else shot fine.

    Ruger SR22
I got this gun for myself for pinking around. Had my wife shoot it and she has now laid claims to it. This is by far the best 22 pistol on the market.Highly recommend.

    What a wonderful little gun!!
I purchased the Ruger SR22 as a handgun for my wife to shoot and boy does she love it!! This gun is accurate and will shoot just about any ammo I use. I buy the bulk Remington 36 grain ammo from Cabelas and this gun just... loves them. I have put about 500 to 600 rounds through the gun so far with NO FTE's, FTF or any other type of problems. I let a friend of mine shoot this gun (she owns the Walther P22) and she is considering trading her gun for this one. Ruger has a winner with this gun!! more

    Made me smile
I purchased the Ruger SR22 last Friday at the cabelas Dundee Michigan. I just took it out to the range for the first time today. I did a lot of researching on 22 pistols, and this is one of the few that all the reviews s...aid would handle both premium, and bulk ammo.I shot about 3-400 rounds today of Winchester high velocity that cabelas had on sale, and the salesman recommended, plus another 40 rounds of bulk Federal I had around. I had no FTF, or FTE's with the Winchester, and only 2 fail to load on the federal, but I probably limp wristed it on those two.I spent and hour at the range and had a big smile on my face the whole time. I was getting nice tight groupings, and I by no means am a marksman. I looked at the Ruger, the SW MP22, the ISSCM22, and I really like the Ruger. Add to it the fact that the grip can change out to best fit your hand. This gun with the bigger grip was extremely comfortable in my hand,m and felt perfect. Overall I could not be happier with this as my first handgun purchase. more

    Great Gun & Reliability
Purchased this gun in an effort to save some money at the range and get my wife interested in longer shooting sessions w/ a lighter recoil pistol. I own a SR9C also and after considering all my 22 options, purchased this... gun due to other reviews and overwhelming satisfaction with my other Ruger. I have been very happy for the price. Fired approximately 2,000 rds thus far; less than 10 FTF (I believe this is b/c I've been shooting cheapo bulk stuff and not the fault of the pistol) and NO FTE!!! Action cycles fine even on the occassional round that barely makes a puff. Wife likes it too which is never a bad thing!! Highly recommend this pistol. Fun to shoot, reliable, and cheap ammo!! more

The gun feels and looks great. When it comes to shooting it does alright it is picky on ammo which isn't that big of a deal. My biggest complaint is that theallen head bolt that holds the barrel lossens after only a coup...le of magazines. I tightened it numerous times while at the range and then came home and put a drop of mild locktite on the threads. Went back to the range and same thing happened only it held for about 200 rounds. I used some medium grade locktite the second time and it worked so for. I prefer my walther p22 over my ruger for shooting and design although when it comes to cleaning the ruger doesn't use a slide guide to reassemble so you can clean it anywhere whereas with my walther you have to carry around your tool which is a hassel. Overall it is just another average 22 hangun with its own set of pros and cons. more

    Simply Awesome.....
Great little hand gun.It came with two ten round magazines, I purchased and extra one. The gun will pop off as fast as you can pull the trigger. It was accurate right out of the box. Ruger has done it right with this lit...tle 22 caliber. I had to wait about 3 months before I could find one, but well worth the wait. I am very happy that I did not give in and purchase something else. 400 plus rounds and not one hick up. What more can you ask for................ more

Excellent enough to be a true conceal and carry!
I had this gun about 2 months now. I go out and shoot about every week. On average I shoot about 100 rounds. I would shoot more, but you get tired loading the mags. 10 round mag is too few.

    Fun To Shoot!
What a great little gun, I bought this Ruger SR22 for my wife on Mother’s Day. We put about 600 rounds of Winchester M*22 through it so far without a failure. It is light, easy to shoot and accurate out of the box, tak...e down and cleaning was a breeze. It was fun to shoot!Would like to see a larger magazine and she was wondering if the interchangeable grips would come out in pink, lol. more

    Great little shooter
Bought this pistol after doing some research online, could not be any happier with it. This thing is very accurate and I have yet to have a jam after 1050 rounds. You can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger and ther...e is almost no recoil. Also very easy to strip down for cleaning. Nice that it comes with 2 different grips and magazine ends. I opted to use the larger grips and the gun feels great. Would 100% recommend this pistol. more

    SR22 blows away the P22
I've had my SR22 for several weeks now. I purchased it because I'm fed up with my Walther P22, which I've had for well over a year. The P22 has been nothing but on-going problems (FTF, FTL, etc), unless you use the more ...expensive ammo like CCI MiniMag. The SR22 is so much better in that it loves ammo like Federal Bulk 525 and Winchester Bulk 525. I thought I could trust the various reports from "+++ Tests" magazine until I read the April 2012 report comparing the Ruger SR22 and the Walther P22. That article #in my opinion# spews of bias for some reason for the P22. Also, I thought I had my ammo problem with the P22 solved by going to the CCI Blazer Bulk which has 40gr round nose non-plated lead bullets. That ammo cycles just fine through the P22, but after two or three hundred rounds, the lead builds up in the barrel and than the bullets topple #end over end) instead of spiraling, and all accuracy is lost. Use plated bullets to keep the lead from fouling the barrel. more

    Ruger SR22
I bought this little gun on thursday, took it out shooting Sunday. I shot over 200 rounds through it, some winchester, mini-mags and federal champion bulk. Of the over 200rds, I had 1 FTF on the very last round of the fi...rst magazine, after that it shot smooth and accurate. My friend that I was shooting with had his Walther P22 and we shot about 200 rounds through that also but it FTE or FTF more than 10 times shooting the same ammo as we shot with my SR22. The SR22 is a little heavier but it was more dependable and it was surprisingly accurate as well. I like the ajustable sites and I can't wait to get it on paper and get it perfectly sited in. Over all I think this is a great little gun. If you're looking for a plinking gun or small game hunter this is the gun to get! more

    Fun gun to own
I purchased a Ruger SR22 hand gun recently and just came back after my first outing. I fired over 300 rounds (cheapest available at 3 cents apeace) and never had a jam or failure to fire. Very good safety features and op...erates similar to my XDM but very economial to practice with. It does have a 3" barrel so it hones your skills holding tight groups. At 20 yards half were in the black, at 10 yards 80% were in the black. Good adjustable signts. Fun gun to shoot, seems very reliable and comfortable to handle and shoot. more

overall a good handgun for target practice
this was my first gun purchase, i wanted something small and inexpensive to target practice with. i am a short person with small hands and the gun fits perfect. I shot off the first box of 525 rounds and not one glitch w...ith the gun. however, when i used the next box they were lead tips and the gun kept jamming. went back to the other bullets and the gun is perfect. more
