  • SAKO A7 ROUGHTECH BIG GAME RIFLE
A satin smooth trigger and an action so slick you think it was lubed with butter are the hallmarks of a Sako rifle. The Roughtech stock is made from an aluminum reinforced frame covered with a high tech polymer interlaced... with a subdued spider web pattern for positive grip in all kinds of environments. This design makes it very light and abundantly strong to avoid potentially accuracy-impeding flex of the stock.A high recoil dissipation butt pad comes standard with two butt pad spacers to adjust overall length of pull. The single-stage trigger on the A7 is user adjustable from 2-4 pounds of pull. It is finely machined and has nearly zero perceptible creep. Each press of the trigger is crisp with just enough over-travel to provide sufficient follow through for an accurate shot. This gun is more than capable of sub-MOA groups and consistently reaching out to distances in excess of 1,700 yards is well within its range given the use of proper optics and ammo. The A7 comes with a three–round (3+1) detachable polymer box magazine designed to prevent accidental dislodgment. For years, the fine craftsmanship of Finland’s Sako Rifles has been the go-to choice of professional shooters intent on performance, and the A7 Roughtech Big Game continues that reliability and delivers consistent accuracy shot after shot. more

  • HomeReviewsRifles Sako A7 Roughtech review
The A7 Roughtech is a very strong, dependable rifle which should give good service even in the most arduous of environments, though it is perhaps a little heavy for mountain stalking.

  • Sako A7 Review
Sako A7 Big Game is certainly well balanced, with a slim profile, comfortable in-hand feel and pointable nature. According to the Sako specification, the synthetic stock is made of a glass-fibre reinforced copolymer poly...propylene. It is finished in a soft touch coating, with integrated stippling where the chequering would be found on a wooden stock. It is far superior to the cheap-feeling stock on a Tikka, and similar to the synthetic offering on the 85 – with the exception being the rubberised inserts. more

    SAKO A7 LR
I own this rifle 7MM Rem Mag but mine is the LR version so it's heavy and no fun to carry in the mountains. That said I carry it anyway because it is deadly accurate. I'd venture the ejection problem noted by another rev...iewer is easily fixed by replacing the extractor. I had a similar experience with a Fierce Fury - pretty sure it's the same action. Anyway contacted Fierce and they sent a replacement extractor - switched it out and it's worked perfect since. Dad in TX contact SAKO and I bet they'll get a replacement out to you and solve your problem. more

Buyer beware especially with long actions
I bought the Sako A7 big game in 7mm rem mag and mounted a vortex viper scope (30mm tube) with Talley medium rings. when cycling action spent shell casings hit the scope windage knob and bounce back in to action and jamb... gun. I moved the scope forward and backward and could not get shells to clear the scope. I also shimmed scope up to mimic Extra high rings and problem persist. This problem may not be as pronounced in shorter action calibers if scope knobs are far enough forward but potential buyers should be warned. more

    Sako - Simply The Best!
I bought the Sako A7 Roughtech in .270 Win caliber. I mounted a Leopold 2.5-8x scope on it and took it to the range. I then shot 1/4 MOA with factory Hornady Custom Lite ammo. Ridiculous! I have owned many, many rifles o...ver the years. Several custom rifles built by big names. NONE of them shot as well as this rifle. I also own two Tikkas- one in .270 and one in .300 and they both shoot sub-MOA with factory ammo. In my experience these rifles coming out of Finland are, by far, the best rifles on the market! If you get one you will love it. more

    The Perfect Rifle
This is quite literally the perfect bolt rifle. The accuracy is outstanding, but what's truly impressive is the weight, balance and modest recoil of the package, given its weight. For field use, the rifle is perfectly ba...lanced offhand shooting. more

    Solid build, quality rifle
I purchased this in a .270. Using factory ammo (Federal Premium) I was able to get 1-1.5" groups at 200yds. Their 5-shot, 1 in group at 100yds guarantee is legit. This thing is a tack driver. I had a warranty issue ...with a warped stock but I'd still rate this rifle 5 stars. more

    Nice rifle!
Not only is the A7 a good looking rifle, it is extremely accurate right out of box. Barrel tolerance is very tight, so I reccomend an aggressive break in process cleaning the barrel frequently during the first 10 to 20 s...hots. more

    Very Accurate
Very well made rifle by a high-end manufacturer. I bought the 7mm rem mag version and the accuracy is very impressive. Bipod stability at the range is helpful. Substantial recoil with the 7mm magnum round, but the rubber... recoil pad is helpful. With a Vortex 6-24x50 scope you can't miss. Very tight grouping at 100 yds. more

    Amazing Rifle
I purchased this rife in a .270 during the spring of 2016. Firstly, and most importantly this rifle is ridiculously accurate. Using factory ammo (Federal Premium w/ Nosler tip) I was able to get a 4-shot, 1" group a...t 200 yards. I gave it only 4 stars because I had a warranty issue with a crooked forearm that took 2 months to fix. Also, it weighs slightly over 7lbs, not the 6.8lbs as advertised. Other than that, I would highly recommend this rifle to anyone. more

Accuracy right out of the box
I purchased the Sako A7 Big Game in 7mm Rem Mag. The 2nd type of factory ammo I tried, produced a .75" 100yd group. 162gr Hornady SST was the ammo. I would definitely recommend this rifle. Can't wait to see to see t...he groups after barrel break in, and hand loaded ammo is used. more

    Smooth, Accurate
I got this in 7mm rem mag and took it to the range for break in and sight in. It was hitting five shot groups at 1/2 to 3/4 moa consistently. The action is silky smooth and the short bolt lift helps in quick follow up. T...he trigger pull was easy to adjust and it breaks crisp and clean. I like the feel of the stock and the way it fits my shoulder. Can't wait to get it out on a hunt. more

    Awesome Accuracy
I bought this in 300 win mag, in 2014, right before big game hunting season. Took it to the range and tested different types of bullets in it. Using a specific bullet, I was putting bullets in the same holes at 100 yards..., then shot my deer with one clean shot. This rifle is the best I have owned. It has performed flawlessly for me. I would recommend it to others and I plan on buying the same rifle in other calibers. more
