This is a nice little gun for the price. I ran thousands of rounds thru it before it stopped shooting and I had to clean it. After cleaning it it started shooting just fine. The stock rubs the barrel a little but for the... price I think it is a good gun. Just what I wanted for plinking around the farm. more

The Savage MKII FV-SR has been a lot of fun. I almost always shoot this gun suppressed... When suppressed, it is very, very quiet. Accuracy and consistency is amazing considering this gun is less than $250! Occasionally,... I'll experience a jam when loading while using the Savage 10-round magazine - the bullet will jam into the bottom of the chamber instead of inserting into the chamber. I've noticed that holding the bolt handle at the base (as close to the bolt as possible) will eliminate this problem, but have never understood why. I don't recall this ever being an issue with the 5-round magazine that comes with the gun. The size of the gun is great for adults (I'm 6'2") as well as for women and children (several 4 year old kids have shot this gun using a rest). I feel this is a great rifle... It has left many smiles on many friends faces as well as mine. more

I've had a lot of simi auto rifles in my 60+ years but this little Savage Mark II .22LR bolt action is buy fare the most fun to shoot. With its bull barrel it is extremely accurate at 50yd using CCI .22 Stingers (that's ...the farthest so far I've been able to try it out at). I love the matt black finish and composite stock because both are rugged. Buds guns offered fast friendly service at a very competitive price. Thank You Sincerely, Edward M. more

Bought the gun and the blogs/reviews are right - gun is very accurate and the stock seems cheap. Not sure what people expect for $249? Gun is solid, very well made and shoots very well. June squirrel season opens up for ...a couple weeks and I plan on introducing the squirrels to my new .22 lr rifle. Buds was OUTSTANDING with this delivery. My first purchase using Buds and I can not be happier, one of the easiest things I have bought on-line. Will be a Buds customer from here on out, very good prices and very good service. more

AMAZING! Just using regular $0.04 ammo on this rifle and the accuracy is just superb! 25 yards and that same cheap ammo will hit a dime for sure. @50 yards, I have just a little spread of over 1{c87abe738ea2b7dfb21b78e09...2d55e4fccdd16c143630959f774d13751d916e7}u201D. Great value for someone on a tight budget wanting a nice platform for an accurate suppressor ready 22 rifle. We have three copies of this rifle in our family. Plus, a 93 in 22WMR variant . I do not care for Savage's plas...tic stocks and have replaced them with Boyd's. I stoned all contact surfaces of the bolt with outstanding results. All wear Leupold EFR 3-9X33AO scopes in Burris DeeZee rings. The "Sparrow" suppressor and CCI Standard Velocity is quieter than air rifles. This combination makes for one fine critter getter. For those with issues/problems with their rifle Savage Customer Service is outstanding, at least in my experience. more

Love the accuracy & features of this rifle...
I'm a fan of the 10/22 and have a few... However, this rifle is different. It's a heavy threaded, scope ready, large bolt handle... With a great trigger. Only thing I would xhange is the stock, which is fixed with a chee...k riser... And... the mags/clips are very "Questionable" for a gun like this... Hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. more

Wow, such a great shooter and the best kept secret regarding 22lr's! A bolt action, heavy barrel, suppressor ready with an accutrigger? Here take my money! The only CON I could scratch up: I am unsure why savage sells th...is particular rifle with a stock clearly not setup for an optics only rifle. The chin weld needed for a scope is a bit irritating and will ultimately require an aftermarket stock. more

This was my first purchase from Buds and was it a smooth and easy transaction. I will be be buying from Buds again. I bought a Savage mark ll 22lr with threaded barrel. Love the rifle. The only thing i don't like is the ...bolt has to be open to insert a fully loaded magazine. Maybe a little time and wear will remedy this problem. more

Waited a few weeks to write the review to get a chance to really shoot this rifle. It's already been well reviewed by several trusted online outlets. I'd just like to add an extra positive comment. The finish on these r...ifles is a little rough. It feels kind of like a parkerized finish. The magazine release is a little steel tab. It was definitely built to be inexpensive. And it's great because of it. This is a great accurate .22 for a relatively small price. It's has a short overall length, it's designed to be used with a silencer. I took it out with my 10/22 and this was definitely more fun. The five round magazine runs out quickly, but it gives the barrel time to cool a little bit while you're reloading. This is a great little .22 that's fun to take to the desert shooting without worrying about beating it up. more

First I would like to thank Buds for their great service. Ordered on Wednesday and picked up from my dealer on Friday .Thanks Buds This rifle is excellent. This little .22 is the most fun gun I have purchased in a long t...ime. Fit and finish on the gun is very nice ,stock had some sharp mold lines in it but a few minutes with a sharp Exacto knife and its nice and smooth. Most of the reviews I read before purchasing this gun said the stock was too cheap and flimsy so I thought I would have to replace the stock. But it fits perfectly on the gun and the barrel is free floating all the way to the receiver. It matches the gun, has nice checkered panels on it for good grip and I see no reason to replace it. Accuracy is outstanding, one hole groups all day long. Bolt was a little stiff at first because of the finish on it but it is breaking in nicely and getting smoother every time I shoot it. The Accutrigger is the best part of this gun ,light and crisp. I have rifles that cost way more than this that I wish had this nice of a trigger. Great job Savage on building a fine little rifle at a reasonable price. more

This savage rifle is very accurate! It is the perfect suppressor host. You wouldn't believe how quiet this is suppressed with standard velocity .22LR ammunition. You need to shoot sub-sonic Ammo so that it doesn't break ...the sound barrier to get the most out of it. The rifle functions flawlessly. It looks and feels amazing. more

I read all the reviews I could find, before purchasing from SG, because of price, and reviews. Here is My assesment. I was immediatly impressed when I pulled it from the box. It fits a grown man or teenager fine. The Com...b IS a little low, but Not such a big deal for me. My stock fits fine, and not so bad for a "cheap plastic stock", it does show mold lines, but again,"no big". It is light, but steady, and balances well. Molded checkering, fore and aft. Hard buttptate..I like the 16"partially,shallow depth, half length barrel fluting and THREADED BARREL w/ cap! WHY I bought this. I t comes with a Picatinny short rail mounted. The Bolt slides as slickly as expected, for a New,"Basic" Bead Blasted, Matte Finished firearm. Its unique shape makes it more user friendly for a "Lefty" especially.. Im waiting for my Burris scope to show up, so I mounted the rings only, screwed on my Suppressor, and went to work. I "aimed" through the rings (no sights), and was hitting the can consistently at 20yds, many in the same hole! You Talk about QUIET!. Even with High Velocity Ammo. No ear plugs required. As Quiet or more so than my Sheridan air rifle. My ONLY Gripe, is the Savage website, talks ALL about Made In America since 1870s and all american, this and that.... Rifle came shipped in a BOX" that said "Made In USA", but the Rifle is Marked, "Made In CANADA". Hmmm, Ill give 'em a pass. Excellent little .22lr. The trigger, action, and barrel on this firearm are vdry good, especially for the price. The stock leaves quite a bit to be desired, but overall you can't beat this rifle for the price. The oversi...zed bolt handle is a great touch, and the threaded barrel is a nice feature. I have placed the gun in a Boyd's Thumbhole Stock with DIP trigger guard and bottom metal kit. In addition, I placed a DIP 25 MOA rail and Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44 scope on it. The rifle is extremely accurate with the right ammo and is capable of MOA groups at 100 yards in the right conditions. Yesterday I used some inexpensive Aguila subsonic "match" ammo and was able to group around 3" at 100 yds with a variable 5 - 9 knot wind. I use the rifle primarily as a trainer for my Savage 10FP in .308, so I use it almost exclusively at 100 - 300 yards. If you want a great little shooter that can help you push the diminutive .22lr to its limits, this is an excellent option. more

Took my new Mark II FV-SR to the Range. Paired up with a Nikon P223 3X fixed power scope. After 4 Shots to Zero @25 yards, shot a 3/8's inch, 5 shot group with bulk .22. Spent the next hour shooting 1 Inch groups @ 50 an...d 1.5 inch groups 100 yards. This rifle is more accurate @ 100 yards than my skills. The rifle is perfect for field work. Light weight, maneuverable and above all accurate. Tactical Bolt handle is excellent. No issues with FTF or FTE. Value far exceeds cost. more

    fantastic rimfire
After having owned this gun for some time now, I can honestly say it's the best rimfire I have ever had. It's lightweight and very accurate. The oversized bolt handle is great, and the built in scope rail is also a nice ...addition. And yes, being a bolt action, it suppresses well. Only giving 4 stars was due to the stock. It's adequate, and like other savage rimfires, but I think this model deserves a better one. more

Stock: You have got to upgrade this to make it shootable. I knew I was buying a 22, but the stock on my BB gun is on par with this one. I upgraded the stock and added nylon spacers. Trigger: really, surprisingly good. I'...ve shoot geiselle, volquartsen and timney and this one is good. It is better than expected. Action: sticky, not like my remington 700, but I can't and shouldn't expect that out of a 22. It's sufficient. I think it will wear in. Accuracy: once I got the know the rifle, I was dead on at 50. I punched one ragged hole in the bullseye after 4-5 mags. Magazines: buy some ten rounders. I've got no beef with the mags but am not going to rave about them. I've no failure to feeds and the mag seats well. It is a little awkward to get in and out. I'd say they are less than expected. Bottom metal: I upgraded with dip products. The bottom metal was really flimsy and I needed the upgrade with the new stock. That's another $40. Threading: clean. Metal finishing: it's ok. It's rough, but looks durable. I'll end up rattle canning it. Upgrades: You're limited on types of upgrades (the 10/22 seems endless when shopping for upgrades for this gun). Though it's a $200 gun, you will put another $120 plus into the stock and $40 into bottom metal. Without the upgrades, I wouldn't shoot it much. With the upgrades, what a shooter! So much fun! It's a great price if you like projects like this. more

Best bang for you buck. This rifle keeps on going up and up in price so you better purchase it before price is too crazy! I added a BSA Sweet 22 scope and it works great with this rifle. Sighted it in within 8 shots. I d...idn't even clean it like some people say you should when I first took it out to the range and my results were crazy good. This is my first rifle I have ever owned so I am no sharpshooter. After sighting it in I shot a nickle sized group with my first 5 shots at 50 yards, using Blazer Ammo. I shot several groups and it kept the same grouping. I shot some cheaper Winchester 333 bulk ammo and the groups opened up to about a quarter size. Still decent for cheaper ammo. I had some CCI RN 40 gr but I did not shoot groups. However I was having fun with the CCI shooting cloth hanger pins at 50 yards 6 out of 6. I want to try some standard velocity next, which Ive heard is even better. This gun with a suppressor would be awesome, but havent got thru the process of getting on yet. You can shoot zombie heads at 100-150 yards with ease and they will never know where the shot came from. Any prepper would be proud to own this gun! Now finding ammo is a different story! Great rifle!!! more

Crazy accurate! I have a "few" rifles in my gun safe and this little gun out shoots them all. I've probably not completely broken the gun in yet, but after about 75 rounds through it all I can say is "wow"! I shot my fir...st 2 rounds at 25 yards to tweak the bore sighting and 3 rounds to sight in at 50 yards. The first 5 shot group at 50 yards was about 1" with CCI Mini Mags. Next, someone left 6 clay pigeons set up at the range at approximately 140 yards. The first shot on the clay birds was low only because I didn't hold over enough. The next 6 shots broke 6 pigeons! Lastly, this gun LOVES Federal Premium Match 40 grain. With this ammo, I shot a five shot group at 50 yards off a bi-pod with a cheap 3x9 scope under 3/4" center to center with 4 of these 5 shots less than 0.15" center to center and lets just say that I'm not a marksman by any means. more

This gun is scary accurate. I sited it in at 25 yards with 6-24x50 scope and was getting 5 shot groups that could be covered with a dime. Action is smooth. Stock does have a little wobble near the barrel, but this is the... case with most free-floating barrels. My only complaint is that the magazine will not seat with all 5 rounds loaded. You have to have the bolt back to seat the magazine, making it 4+1 instead of 5+1. Overall, a great little gun. more

You cannot touch this gun for the money anywhere. I will not... even tell you what the groups were because you would not believe me. I will tell you that you should try Wolf ME ammo in one of these :) Okay, I will tell you but I warned you: first 5 shot group measured with caliper : .106" (with .224 taken out for bullet size) and the second was: .196" I told you! **this measurement gives you an accurate center to center group measure** Buds was awesome as usual. The Savage MKII FVSR is great little rifle! I am very happy with it. With a cheap BSA 3-9x40 scope I am getting 1/4" to 3/8" groups at 50yds with CCI Standard Velocity .22LR and Eley Club. Other European ammo also shoots... 1/2" or better @ 50yds. It shoots best with Standard Velocity ammo and Subsonics, but also likes CCI Tactical. Have put about 1,400 rounds through it so far and I think it's getting more accurate every time I go to the range. Also like the Accu-trigger. I highly recommend this model or any other Savage Mark II because they all share the same action and trigger. Get the 10-round magazines if you can. At first it would only feed with 9 rounds in them, but now that the mags are broken in, I can shoot with 10 rounds in all 4 of them. I highly recommend this gun. I was shooting just as good (actually better than most) than other .22 shooters at the range with more expensive .22 guns (CZ 452 was the cheapest there besides my Savage), so that tells you something about the Savage Mark II. It's no match rifle by any means, but it is one of the greatest and classic Sporting rifles out there. more

Fast shipping. The Savage FVSR is a nice little suppressor ready .22, for an excellent price of 249.99 shipped. It is hard to beat 250.00 for a gun of this quality. The action is great, the picatinny rail on the receiver... is a nice addition. My only complaint is not with Buds but with Mossberg, when they speed up the process of producing it seems they cut corners, and the crown of this barrel was a little "rough", but it is nothing that can't be fixed with a few turns of a barrel reamer. more

I wanted to like it but: I heard how accurate this rifle is for the money and liked the idea of a bolt action for working with the kids. Mine just groups very inconstantly. Cold bore shot is always way off. I'm not a new... gun owner, and I know how to shoot. My gun just sucks. I tried a bunch of different ammo, including expensive stuff, and get the same results. Hundreds of rounds later no improvement. Mine just groups very inconstantly. Tried different scopes, checking tightness of the barrel nut, taking the barrel nut off, checked the looseness of the mount, checked the internals and barrel, and found no improvement. I have let others shot it and get the same thing. To top it off the factory mag is loose and sometimes sprays the bullets out if you don't squeeze it together frequently. I know that I can fix that but I don't feel like I should need to. Fit and finish are OK, but the top receiver cut out looks like it was done with a hacksaw. more

Excellent value for a 22lr which includes a mounted rail and threaded muzzle. Quickly slapped a scope on the included rail and I was in business in minutes. Barrel also fluted which was a nice surprise for appearance. Fo...r a suppressed 22lr rifle platform, it's hard to imagine a better setup out of the box. Tested with a few dozen rounds, and no issues. Did experience some feed jamming when not racking the bolt firmly - cycle the bolt assertively. Probably user error. Came with a 5 round magazine, I also ordered two of the factory 10 round magazines which ran fine. Highly recommended rifle. more

Nice gun, plastic stock is fine with me for a $200 gun, finish is okay. Action rough but smooths out quickly. Very nice configuration with the barrel, bolt handle etc. One major catch - the factory magazine will probably... be complete trash. Mine was cheap, poorly made and impossible to fix. It wouldn't hold bullets, you get a couple in and then they shoot out all over the place. There is a guy on YouTube that shows the exact same thing. Rifle: Excellent, great for the money and somehow managed to put 3 rounds inside an inch at 100 yards which is unbelievable! Just know that the rifle is small feels a little like a youth rifle, also, rail sits high so ge...t low profile rings unless you have a monster scope, otherwise you will need a butt stock cover/pad to raise your line of sight. Buds: Ok, not my first or last purchase, but unfortunately they dropped the price by about $60 immediately after I ordered it, and wouldn't offer my any kind of discount - should've denied the transfer.... They said there costs change frequently, well, I'm sure it does, but a {d26c460b807a632827b7e5c64d75b704ecb8758fa3e0bd8dd27214df9ba61eaa}20 decrease in price is ridiculous. more

I took this rifle to the range for the first time this afternoon. I added a scope and sighted it in at 50 yrds. Once sighted in I began the testing on fresh targets. It is a very accurate rifle. I am new with this rifle ...but I still was able to hit 5 rounds in each of 5 - 2 " targets. That's a total of 25 on target hits. I have a target 22 that I use for shooting at local matches. This rifle is close to being as accurate as my more expensive rifle (at 50 yrds). I think that once I match the right ammo with the rifle it will be a true winner. Unbelievable!!! This rifle is AMAZING!!! Waited a while for this to come off of back-order and glad I was patient. Took it out to the range this morning just before sunrise (hey, its hot here in the summer!). Set up with a Millett TRS-1 4-16X50 30mm mil-dot (.1... mil adj.). Put on paper at 25 yards with the first 3-shot group, slid back to 50 yards and tightened things up with two more 3-shot groups, then put back at 100 yards and zero'd it in with 3 more 3-shot groups. Spent the rest of the morning putting 22 rounds in the same hole, or very very close (Federal Automatch and Wolf Target). Consistent time after time after time for each 3 shot group downrange. Frankly, I couldn't be more happy with this little gun. Shoots tighter than my 10/22 with 18" Green Mountain BBL. This is one fun little 22 bolt action for under 3 bills. This is my 3rd Savage owned (2 from Buds). Accutrigger on this one was a bit heavier from the factory than either of the other two Savages I own (.308's), but it was not an issue. If nothing else, I'd say it was even more crisp of a pull than the other two. I'll be picking up another Savage in the near future. As a reference, the picatinny scope mount that comes with the FV-SR is from EGW (standard, not the 20MOA unit). Next time out at the County range, I'll be trying it at 200 yards, but I've got a feeling that I may need a 20MOA mount for that. As with all of my previous Buds orders, Buds rocks. more
