    Great gun for the price
Bought this a couple months ago, put a scope on it. Very accurate, however, it is only an 8-9 round rifle, at LEAST one round will jam out of ten, thus the 4 star rating

    Great little .22!
This is a great gun for plinking and small game. I stick to CCI ammo and have never had a failure! It is single shot only with subsonics, it won't cycle them. But i have yet to find a .22 that cycles subsonics well? I re...ally like this gun and for the money you can't go wrong. I have a scope on it and it's more accurate than my buddies 10/22. more

Not Bad just needed a little fix.
This is a great 22 LR but had problems shooting hollow point bullets especially Winchester X High Velocity. The reason was the nose of the hollow point would smack the bottom of the barrel. I was able to modify the entry... of the barrel by removing a small amount of material from the bottom of the barrel to allow the nose of the bullet to chamber without hitting the barrel first. This thing will shot anything now and works perfectly! Just make sure your comfortable doing it or I recommend taking it to a Gunsmith if you are not. Great gun though especially for the money! more

Amazing Value for a low cost Gun!
I bought this gun thinking it was bottom of the line for the price, but I was pleasantly surprised by its performance and accuracy. The only negative thing I can say is that loading the magazine would be greatly helped b...y use of a button to help hold the spring open while you loaded it up with the ammo. This is a great starter gun or general plinking gun if you don't have too much cash! more

    Rifle great, magazine so so
the rifle is a dream to shoot as long as you only put 9 rounds into the 10 round magazine. Bought two additional magazines, same result, jam every time if 10 rounds are loaded. No jams at all if only 9 rounds loaded.Just... consider it a great rifle/scope package with a 9 round magazine.Would be 5 stars if didn't have the feed problem with 10 rounds. It could be after loading the magazines a few hundred times they will feed properly with 10 rounds. more

    Great 22lr
I love this rifle. I've put about 200 rounds in it within 2 months. It has only jammed once but that's because of something I was doing. The only problem is that the one mag it comes with is just not enough and it's very... hard to find more. I put a nice little 22 scope on it and it is very accurate at 100 yards. Great gun. Great company. more

    Outstanding
Just has a good solid feel. Enough weight to give you a steady aim and semi-auto shooting if you miss the first shot allows you to follow thru on point. Nice and easy action weather at range or in the field.

    Great value rimfire rifle
Purchased two of these on sale for my nephews. Set them up with a thousand rounds of 22lr and let them have at it. Only ftf was after we built up an 1/8 inch of sludge inside the chamber. Gave the rifle a quick cleaning ...and continued on with the fun. Not the best sights or action, but for the money, can't be beat. If your looking for an inexpensive 22lr rifle that works well, this is the one. more

I caught this gun on special 2 years ago around Christmas for $105. It has been a great working gun! I’ve put 1,000 rounds through it so far of Winchester and Remington target ammo. I bought a 64 GXP model a couple of years ago with an included a fixed 4x Tasco scope. A nice little setup, to be sure, but this past summer I bought a budget 6-24/50mm AO (adjustable objective) scope from a large online... shopping website (which shall remain unnamed) and installed it. The dovetail rail was not a problem as 1" dia. rings are readily available. With this scope and CCI Standard Velocity ammo the Model 64 is incredible accurate at 25 yards. I will be moving out to 50 yards soon and then 100. I have every confidence that the Model 64 will be a highly accurate firearm. I'm glad I bought the Savage. What a bargain! more

    Great little .22
I bought this .22 a little over a year ago. I am well pleased with my purchase . It does a great job at hitting whatever I am aiming at . With just over 1000 rounds I only had a few jams and that was with cheap low power...ed ammo. By the way some of those rating this .22 Rifle need to learn what a clip is vs a magazine. Great Rifle from Savage
Bought this .22 and I'm impressed. Bought this rifle yesterday and couldn't be happier. I payed $119 plus tax. I chose this rifle over the 702 plinkster from Mossberg because it had a little bit more weight to ...it. The draw down is no high capacity mags are available for the 64 model and no dovetail to picatinny rail adapter as the 64f has a 3/8" dovetail rail incorporated into the receiver. The model 64f however feels good in the hands. The trigger has a little bit of travel till the wall then a nice crisp smooth trigger. This is a bang for the buck deal. The barrel is free floating straight out of the box. The Savage Model 64 felt better and more heavy duty then the Mossberg 702. This is a well made .22. The iron sights are good quality as well and is elevation adjustable. Some shooters might have an issue with is target acquisition since the sights are black. Not a big deal though and is fixable by painting the front sight with a bright color. I rated this rifle 5 starts because it is a quality made .22 cal. See for yourself and pick one up. Feels good l, shoots good and looks good. more

    Pretty solid rifle all around.
Picked up on sale for $99. Took it home, loaded the magazine, fired three rounds, and it nearly cut the fourth in half chambering it. Piece of cheap junk.
Sorry but this gun has issues. It hates lower velocity ammo and don't think of using Range Bucket ammo you will spend all day jamming and hand cycling. A comment here suggests there is a ton of aftermarket on this m...odel including magazines--that is a complete fabrication. In order to use a 20 round mag you have to do mods to the receiver and it never quite works out. You want a nice inexpensive but reliable 22 look to Ruger 10/22 or move up to an S&P 10/22--more bucks but they work, and in the case or Ruger--the largest aftermarket or ANY gun. more

I have had this gun for 7 years and have contacted Savage about this issue. Save your money for something else, you will soon regret this purchase. Giving it one star because I cannot give less. more

This is the worst gun Academy has ever sold me. Every other time you put a clip in it and pull the bolt back IT WILL JAM !! Trading this one off for sure. And by the way I was using Remington and CCI mini-mags so it was ...not the ammo.

One more thing I also have a 10/22 that I have dumped a lot of money in that shoots no better than my out of the box 64. more

Pulled out the mag, took a circular file, filed down the edge of the magazine slightly... to remove any burrs, and never had an issue with it again. Loaded it up and emptied the mags as quickly as I could with no jamming or misfires. For the price, I'll gladly spend 30 seconds fine tuning it. more

    Very accurate and reliable.
I bought this from Academy in NE Tarrant about a month ago and have since fired a few hundred rounds from it. It feeds reliably from the 2 magazines I own. A simple press on the mag release drops the box magazine. This f...irearm is more accurate than my Ruger 10/22, my opinion, and it costs have as much as the Ruger. It's a great value. more

    Alright features
I bought this awhile back magazines a little hard to pull out and put back in, other than that it's good for small game hunting and target practice.

    Nice starter rifle
I got this a few months back and comparing it to my Remington 597 I like the accuracy a little better but I prefer the Remington's magazines a little more. Easier to swap out. This one feels tighter or less smooth t...o remove and slap the next in. I like the price of this one better was lower cost. more

Great Rifle with a troublesome magazine
Purchased for an Appleseed event. Rifles did well, but our multiple magazines did not. They were problematic - no after market mags available at this time. Husband and self had three mags each to ensure the least amount ...of trouble during the event which we were thankful for. Rifle likes lots of oil, and to be cleaned every hundred rounds. more

    Malfunction from the box.
I bought this straight from the box jammed failure to eject. Contacted Savage arms. Customer service was not good they made me pay to send the rifle back and was very rude about it. I was planning on buying two more but ...not now not ever. We will see the out come. more

You want a nice inexpensive but reliable 22 look to Ruger 10/22 or move up to an S&P 10/22--more bucks but they work, and in the case or Ruger--the largest aftermarket or ANY gun. more

    Don’t waist your money
I have had several 22 cal auto rifles, this one is the worst. The magazine is hard to load and remove. The charging handle is too short and easy to pinch your fingers. Jams easily on low velocity ammo. Watch the YouTube ...videos on this rifle and remember you get what you pay for, lower price for a reason. more

Thanks Buds for fast holiday shipping ! Love the rifle . Have not been able to shoot it yet but did break it down and clean it. Polished the magazine lips as noted on forums. After assembly I cycled the weapon about twen...ty times with snap caps. She cycled flawlessly. Love the feel and weight. Quality is not lacking. Very pleased with it and Buds ! Would buy another one !! more
