Bought this before the combo deal, without the Accu-trigger. Zeroed my old Simmons scope that morning, then went for an evening hunt. Took my first 3x4 buck two years ago...on the first shot. Have since replaced the scope with a new Weaver (I compared it to my buddy's Nikon & could not tell any difference). Went to the range this last Spring and grouped shots in 2.5 inches at 100 yards. Can't wait to go again this Fall. Thank you Savage! ...more
First let me say its a good rifle for the price. It handles well in the field .I have only been out twice since I bought it.First to zero it in and the second to set up targets for this fall deer hunting.I am very pleased with the rifle and plan on buying other calibers in the savage arms axis xp models
Based on the comment posted to my account I am only allowed to write a review based on the product . The product was received and and inspected . It was found to be in excellent condition and it came with a nice Bushnell CF500 scope already mounted . This rifle is also eligible for the manufacturers 60.00 rebate .
Pretty good deal for the money, so far has been very accurate and precise. Will absolutely melt fox with 0 for damage and pretty sure it would take down Bobcats and coyotes with well placed shots. Only 2 problems I have with this firearm is that the bolt is not very smooth and very stiff in closing. The bolt handle is formed in a manner that, coupled with the loose bolt, gives it enough space to rub on the scope. If the action was tightened up it would solve both problems and result in a 5 star but 4 is as good as I can give it right now. ...more
Concerning my purchase of a Savage Axis ll XP 25-06 Woodweaver from Buds gun shop. The purchase went thru with no hassle. The rifle actually delivered ahead of estimated delivery. The rifle and packaging were in great condition. No issues at all, The rifle is a Christmas gift so it has not been fired yet, but I feel there will not be any issue at that time either. This is my second purchase from Buds and both times were perfectly fine, and I also plan more purchases from Buds. ...more
Very nice rifle
I bought one of these in the last week of October and harvested a trophy ten point in Missouri on the opening weekend of gun season a few weeks later. I'm mad at myself for not getting one in 308win. at the same time when the price was knocked down. But at the $429.00 price tag it is still worth it.
Completely satisfied.. I paid $371 for the gun and mounted a $220 Nikon Prostaff 4-12 on it. The only reason I bought this gun was for a bet with a longtime friend on who had the most accurate gun at 500 yards (at the time I had never shot a rifle at that distance). My friend had wrapped up close to $3200 on a "higher end" .308 gun and scope. My Savage and scope were under $600. While I lost the bet by 1/2" on a 3 shot group, I proved you don't need to spend big $$ to get good accuracy at 500 yards, you just need to buy a Savage. This is my third one and all three have been incredibly accurate out of the box. ...more
