SIG SAUER P938 Blackwood Info

With the P938, SIG SAUER offers the ballistic advantage of the 9mm cartridge in a platform similar in size to the best-selling P238 pistol. A single-action-only trigger, coupled with full-size X-Ray1 Sights makes the P938 handle like a much larger pistol, yet is still easy to carry concealed. With dimensions just slightly larger than its .380ACP counterpart, the P938 packs six plus one rounds of 9mm into an all-metal frame. The single-action trigger gives the P938 unmatched accuracy in a pistol its size. Fans of the 1911 will find the thumb safety, magazine release and slide stop lever in familiar places. An ambidextrous safety makes the P938 easy for left- and right-handed shooters. The Black wood features a natural stainless steel slide and black hard coat anodized alloy frame, paired with Hogue Black wood grips.

  • Sig Sauer P938 Shooting Review
The Sig Sauer P938 has been described as the P238s bigger brother. Chambered in 9 mm, the gun highly resembles its .380 counterpart. In fact, the two pistols share so many of the same features that when viewing the P9...38 from a distance, most folks swear they are actually looking at a P238. To handle the significantly more potent Parabellum cartridge, Sig Sauer had to do a little more work than just re- chamber a P238 barrel. Sig had to increase the frame size to accommodate a bigger magazine for the longer 9x19 mm round. Since the 9 mm is capable of almost double the energy, they also had to re-proportion the slide to handle the extra power. Finally, the recoil spring and guide had to be modified to buffer the extra pressure. more

The 938 Blackwood so like the other family of 938 pistols this is a compact piece or a micro piece in fact a great concealed carry gun. Its a 9 millimeter pistol and its the smallest 9 millimeter that sig makes so its a ...single action gun like all the 9:38 comes with the ambi safety on both side so for the lefties or righties, no big deal at all its carried locked and cocked so kind of like a mini 1911 hammer cocked back safety up. Have a nice crisp trigger on this thing so its coming in at about seven and a half pounds of trigger pull which is real pleasant gun and very safe for concealed carru up. more

    Great quality
I purchased my Sig Sauer P938 about a week ago. I researched this gun for quite some time. I am impressed with the way the gun handles and shoots.

    Sig got it right
I bought this pistol as a back up and off duty carry. It is small, accurate, and easy to carry. I keep it clean and have not had a malfunction in the 2+ years I've owned it. An outstanding pistol.

    Great EDC
I have had this gun for about a month and a half and have put a few hundred rounds through it. It has digested everything from 115 gr to 147 gr without a problem. When fired for the first time it seemed to be grouping to... the left and low, but I have noticed that the grouping is getting tighter and closer to point of aim as I put more rounds through it. Probably just me getting used to the small grip. The recoil spring and guide rod are a little rough to put back in after cleaning, but that too takes practice. Overall, I am very pleased with this gun and my daughter likes it to. more

    Own 2. Love them.
SAS and Army Green. Wood on former Sig Hogue on Army. Tack drivers. I'm not a great pistol shooter especially because of my older eyes (wear progressive lens eyeglasses) but by the 3rd magazine I was able o put all 7... in 1 hole at 25'. Recoil on all ammo 115 124 147 is quite manageable and I have a hard time telling which weight I'm shooting by the recoil...no biggie at all. Eats everything I've fed them no FTFs or FTEs. Very nice tight fit construction. Night sights are awesome. Trigger bites me a little at the bottom but doesn't bother me until about 40 or 50 rounds. I may put in an aftermarket trigger (at least 3 available) or just sand the tip down a little but haven't bothered to do either yet. Fits in a pocket or IWB with little to no trace. Full power 9mm take anywhere! Quite the little barker. more

    Great pistol
This is a great small 9mm pistol. I prefer the extended 7 round magazine. its accurate and easy to carry and conceal. The gun is tested with 147 grain and it works flawlessly with this round.

    Superb CWP Pistol
Sig includes a holster with the P938 that provides security and excellent concealability. The 938 is compact and accurate, haven't had a single malfunction with over 300 rounds expended

    CONCEAL CARRY GUN
THIS IS A NEW TEST RUN FOR A CONCEAL CARRY GUN. THE SIG DOES LIKE THE 124 GRAIN 9mm AMMO UNTIL YOU GET IT BROKEN IN. REALLY LIKE THE EXTERNAL SAFETY SO IT CAN BE CARRIED COCKED AND LOCKED.

    Feels Great In My Hands
I have not fired many rounds through it yet but really like size and how it feels in my hands so far. Cycled cheap 115 gr. ammo well the first time at the range.

I bought this pistol about a month ago and it is awesome. It is small enough to carry concealed and light enough to not bother you. The recoil of the 9mm this small is not a problem. I bought the extended clip because I ...have a large hand. It is a joy to shoot and will eat a variety of different ammo with no problems. I recommend this pistol looking for a pistol to carry for personal protection. more

Not as snappy as I thought it could be only weighing 15 ounces. Ran Blazer 115 grain target ammo through with no issues. Also fed a couple of mags of Geco 124 grain Hexagon ammo through. Night sights are very functional.... Accuracy was very good. My eyesight isn't what it used to be, still easily put all 6 rounds into an 8 inch target at 10 yards. Call me crazy, but I love the included plastic holster. It has an adjustment screw to increase or decrease the force required to draw. I also have an IWB leather holster from Paul at Holster Pro, but I find myself using the Sig holster more. The mag is a little tougher to load than other pistol mags, but that is about the only negative thing I can say about this gun. Favorite new carry piece! more

    Compact for a 9mm
Purchased two Sig 938 little over a year ago, between my wife and myself we have shot many different brands with the 115 & 124 grain bullets, over 1000 rounds between both of them. During this time my wife has had th...ree shells that did not fire on first try. The clips are a little hard to reload when new but did get easier over time, It took a little bit of shooting to get use to the trigger, a little heavy on the pull. more

    Solid CC
Best conceal carry gun I have found. Solid guns makes it a little heavy, but much easier to shoot accurately with little kick. I originally bought for my wife. I bought a second for me after taking hers to the range time... and time again. Have had it for a year with zero issues. more

    P938 Scorpion Review
Picked this up today and ran 200 rounds of Monarch 115G 9MM ammo. I experienced no failures that others are writing about. I picked this up to replace my DB9 and WOW, what a difference. The gun was very easy to operate, ...racks easily, it wasn't punishing to shoot like most small 9MM, probably due to to its all metal construction and overall weight. The gun has an ambidextrous safety that can be easily manipulated by your thumb or index finger. The gun comes with 2 mags, a 6 round and a 7 round, some guns have the tendency to experience failure if you try to run a gun with one in the chamber and a full mag. I tried this out with both the 6 and 7 mag and the gun had NO issues, it cycled just fine! Also picked up an Uncle Mike's IWB holster and so far this gun has been very comfortable to carry concealed. I still don't have the confidence to carry it with one in the chamber, cocked and safety on, which is how this gun was made to be carried. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, I think I finally found my conceal carry weapon. more

    great gun
I was told to only run premium ammo through this gun, did I listen? No. I ran 260 rounds of Monarch steel case ammo with no issues. I could care less for the flush 6 round magazine, so I purchased the 7 round extended ma...gazine and it still functioned flawless. This gun is so lite when I carry, that I forget I have it on. The gun is very accurate when fired from 10 yards. Every bullet went where it was fired. The Nitron finish makes this gun very easy to clean. Break down and reassembly can be tricky, but with practice it shouldn't be an issue. I can't really find ayn issues with this gun. more

    Great CCW
I bought the Nightmare version in April of 2013. I have run more than 1200 rounds of Winchester White Box 115 grain FMJ, 400 rounds of Remington 115 grain FMJ, 300 rounds of Blaze 115 grain FMJ and more than 100 Hornady ...Critical Duty 137 Grain +P I have had 2 FTE both with the Remington ammo. This gun is amazing. I carried a Walther PPS before but now this is the only gun I carry. I fire it at least once a month and most months I get out 2 or 3 times. I normally fire 100 or so rounds. The perceived recoil is far better than most small 9s I have fired. I am 5fr 8 and weigh 150 so I am small framed and my hands are small. This thing concels well and is very easy to handle. more

    Best CCW gun available!
I purchased the P938 from Academy several months ago after MUCH research, and I LOVE IT!  I have several CCW guns, but found that I rarely carried them because they were too big, heavy, or I was only wearing a t-shi...rt and worried that my gun would print.  I am happy to say this gun solved all of my problems.  It is very easy to conceal IWB or in the pocket of my cargo pants.  I also love that it is 9MM so I can always find ammo (and it is affordable to shoot).  It is very small, so expect a bit of a kick, but I am extremely satisfied with this gun and have not had a single misfire in 500+ rounds.   more

This is the best subcompact 9mm on the market. I don't know about the problems the other reviewers are reporting but, mine works perfectly. This weapon never fired consistently for me. I was shooting Remington and Winchester FMJs (not cheap ammo) and it would fail to fire 2-3 times per box. After 3 or 4 boxes I sent it back to the factory. They returned it a...nd told me to use different ammo. A $650 pistol should shoot anything. Great carry gun.
Bought this about 3 weeks ago to carry, and liked it immediately.  Feels great in the hand, as the one I got has the Sig rubber swollen grips and to me, is a much better grip than the wood panel and better control. ... I got the night sights and the are very bright.  Straight out of the box, it shot very accurately.  As with any new 1911 style, in the break in period, I had one stove pipe and one bad feed, but after 300 rounds, not a problem.  Breaks down just like a 1911.  It's certainly not the cheapest carry out there, but you get what you pay for.  Now just waiting for the RIP ammo to hit the market and I'll be set. more

    Perfect Gun for Small Hands
I have been searching for the perfect gun to fit my small hands. Being a petite woman, 5"1 and hands measuring 6 inches from the tip of my middle finger to the bottom edge of my palm, it has been a true quest to fin...d a pistol that would work for me. Anyone with small hands knows what I am talking about. Most 9mm or higher caliber guns are just too big. Holding the larger pistols properly, the tip of my trigger finger could not reach the trigger. I would have to compensate and adjust my grip to let my finger pull the trigger, then that would cause my aim to be way off. This gun has everything a girl could want! It is compact enough for small hands to reach the trigger and the magazine release button without effort. Perfect size to conceal and recoil is extremely manageable because its small size allows for the proper grip and control. I was worried that such a small pistol would pack a punch, but I was thrilled the first time I shot it that there was no noticeable recoil at all. The slide is also easy to rack, which I had problems with in the larger pistols. I have put about 300 rounds through it with no FTF or FTE. The Sig night sights are great, perfect for low light situations. Takedown was a little tricky and I found the instrucions a little vague. Reassembling the spring was no fun and it took me about 45 minutes the first time from start to finish . Now that I know what I am doing, takedown is a snap but reassembling the spring is still tricky. I watched a video on YouTube on how to field strip the pistol which was a big help. Bottom line, this is a great gun for concealed carry and for small women and the issues with takedown/reassemlby are worth it. My husband loved mine so much, he bought one for himself and it never leaves his side. I have the Blackwood model, my husband has the Extreme. The width of the grips on the Extreme are slightly thinner than the Blackwood, so if you have really small hands and need the thinnest model to improve your grip, go with the Extreme. Not sure about the width of the other model grips in comparison. The Extreme also comes two magazines whereas the other models come, I believe, with only one. more

It is the best quality single stack 9mm concealed carry pistol, hands down. The P938 is the only true 1911 in the subcompact 9mm class. It eats any type of ammo like candy.
