Bloodied Hands and Nothing to Show For It
I spent seven years in the Army, never had any trouble with any firearm....until this one. Just took it out of the box, my hands are covered with blood and I still cannot operate the slide release one-handed. Taking the ...weapon apart still eludes me, the detailed, photo-laden instructions not withstanding. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE! more
Love at first squeeze
I have very wide palms and short fingers and am picky about my guns and knives, well I choose m&p over a 1911 any day. I've put 5000 rounds through these beauties without so much as a hiccup( i do thoroughly clean af...ter each use). And it fits my hand like its custom made for me. more
Best Feeling, Shooting, Reliable Gun.
You can trust a Smith & Wesson M&P handgun with your life! Easy to take apart to clean. Very accurate. Very smoothe- shooting. Only Beretta 92, 96 will have a feel in your hand like this. It feels like you've alw...ays owned it. If you don't believe me, try to find a friend that already has one and shoot it or try handling one at the store. I have had the .45, .40, and 9mm of this gun many times. (I have a bad habit of selling & trading my guns) but, this one I'm keeping. It is now the only handgun I own for home and carry. more
Smith & Wesson mp9
Great gun, very reliable, very accurate. Another great product from a great gun manufacturer.
I have found this SW pistol my favorite SW pistol. I just like everything about it. How it feels in my hand, shoots well, reliable. Better than some women I have dated BEFORE I was married.
great first pistol
I purchased this gun for plinking, 9 mm ammo is a lot cheaper than my 44 mag rounds. Out of the the box 2.5 inch group @15 yes. Not bad for a novice pistol shooter.300 rounds no fails, and real easy take down and cleaning.... Very happy! more
Bought the m&p 40 and I love it. I took it out to the range today and fired it for the first time. Functioned flawlessly and is accurate. Couldn't ask for more
Best decision yet
Just picked up this gun before Thanksgiving and I'm glad I did. I've been looking for a reliable full size hand gun and being a large man (6' 5") I wanted something that fit in my hand and didn't feel lost. This has... the size and weight that I was looking for as well as the power to stop whatever I need to. more
S&W M&P 9 Pro
Very pleased with this gun. Really like the feel and accuracy. Very accurate and easy to shoot. I went to Cabelas on a Saturday and they only had the display model left. The salesperson suggested that I order one at Cabe...las.com and have it shipped to the store. I went home and ordered it on Saturday and it was delivered to the store on Monday and ready for pick up!!! Excellent experience with Cabelas and this firearm. more
Recently bought this pistol from Bass Pro and right out of the box it shot great! Shot a few different brands of ammo thru it and it shot flawlessly with each one. Pistol comes with two mags and 3 interchangeable back st...raps to customize a perfect grip. The CORE is a great shooting gun with that great feel. You will not be disappointed with this purchase. I already own a couple M&P 9c's, happy to finally add the CORE to my collection. more
I purchased the 9mm Core. I mounted a Vortex Venom on it, and it has become my favorite handgun. I own 4 different m&ps. Everyone that has shot this gun loves it. It's comfortable to shoot and very accurate. I wish t...hey also made the CORE in a 45 acp. If they do, I'll be getting that one too. more
Great pistol for the price!
Coming from the military, I've had the opportunity to shoot just about anything you'd want to shoot and I must say that I have been extremely impressed with this pistol. I've put around 6,000 rounds through mine as of no...w and I've had no issues at all. Simple to field strip and clean, and it doesn't mind any type of ammunition. more
American made! Flawless function, different size back straps for a custom fit. Over all a very dependable gun. Best of all, What makes a gun accurate is sight picture and trigger function as it relates to each individual... shooter. There is a lot of after market stuff out there for this popular gun. Which is a plus to make this fit each shooter. I made a few changes in the trigger and internals added a rubber grip wrap and a different front and rear sight to fit my personal needs. Which made this an extremely accurate pistol given my personal variables. more
Excellent Hand Guns
I have a M&P compact in 40 cal I purchased 7 yrs. ago and like it.Excellent accuracy.Especially like the trigger, best I've found in a semi-auto.Don't know how many rounds I've put through it--all I know is that it fu...nctions flawlessly.Good, solid firearm that I would trust in any self defence situation.I purchased a M&P Shield recently also in 40 cal and can say the same things about it as I said about the M&P compact.Great handgun. The Shield is more slimmer & shorter which makes it more comfortable for carry which is why I bought it.Love the 40 cal cartridge. The only complaint I have is the Shield magazines. Why S&W put such stiff springs in them is beyond me.You could replace the front springs in your 54 Chevy with them and not know the difference. You need a mag loader to load the mags or kiss your thumbs & nails good bye. more
The people at Smith and Wesson take all there hand guns very seriously. This hand gun is great I would not recommend M&P40 I would insist on it for your home for the range for your life. Go ahead and buy another hand... gun, but if your life depends on what is in your hand when trouble comes your way. There is no other option .This hand gun will give you years of trouble free service. Just clean it periodically. more
Very nice shooting gun
I was a little concerned about the recoil on the 40 m/p but I was surprised how manageable it is. I thought the slide was a little to hard to pull back but after 2 trips and 200 rounds it is a lot better. loading the mag...s is another story very hard to load I bought a speedloader which I highly recommend or have very sore fingers. Overall I love the gun more
Great Pistol, Great Value
I'm a bit of a re-entry shooter so took my time trying to find a good modern 9mm handgun. Glock was an obvious one to look at as they are popular and my father has a Glock 17 that is a real nice weapon. I looked at them ...all. The guy helping me the other day at BP was a young nice patient guy that let me take my time and look and hold everything. He steered me a bit towards the Glocks and the Springfield. I was mulling that over and started looking at S&W and ask him about those. He smiled and said, "Yeah, Smith & Wesson! Gun felt great. Felt heavier but better balanced than the G17, not sure if it is heavier. I took it to the range with my pop and we had a ball! He liked the M&P over his G! So did I! Seems easy to take care of and like a good book I can hardly put it down! Dead accurate, less kick than I thought. more
great first gun!!
I have had my M&P .40 for two years now. I have put about 2000 rounds down range. Not one failure. This was my first pistol, so i did my research. glad i did. GREAT GUN!
I'm very happy with this purchase. I haven't had a single issue with my m&p core. Its shoots perfectly. I would recommend this gun to anyone
I have the 9mm version and absolutely love it. It is extremely accurate and a fun pistol to shoot. I bought this to use in competitions. I installed a Doctor Red Dot sight on it, which was very simple to do with the base... plates that come with in the box. Not only is this pistol a great shooter, but with the sleek lines and the red dot it looks impressive and I get a lot of questions about it at the range. more
Very Reliable After 2000 Rounds
I've had this handgun for almost 3 years now and I love it as much as I did on the day I bought it. I shot over 2000 rounds with it and I never had any malfunctions with any 9mm ammunition that went threw it. It's also e...asy too clean, very ergonomic and very accurate. more
Best 9mm Auto for the money
I've owned Ruger, Tarus and Remington Pistols But my M&P is the Best one I've ever owned right off the shelf it was well sighted in, the interchangeable grips is fantastic and really comfortable and rock solid and I ...like the way I recover my sight window quickly after each shot. It's really comfortable to shoot, well made and priced just right. Best investment I've ever made. more
i love this product! its a great gun and very accurate.
Best 9mm auto
I have owned and shot many 9mm auto's including Glock, Springfield, Kahr Arms, Ruger and Rock Island.
I now have three M&Ps. All in .40 S&W. Sub-compact, compact and full size. I like these guns so much that I will be purchasing another in Pro Series C.O.R.E. Plan on pitting a Leupold red dot on it. As some compl...aints state, the trigger pull is a little heavy. The M&Ps were designed this way. With no external safety, the trigger is considered the safety. I have never had a problem with miss feeds in any of my M&Ps. The interchangeable back strap is a big plus. Allowing you to fit the gun to most any size hand. Most of the other complaints have some validity. Just remember, you are purchasing a factory mass produced firearm. If you want something super smooth in all features, go ahead and spend 3-5 times more money on a custom firearm. For the money, you can't go wrong with an M&P. more
Bought the full size 9mm and couldn't be happier. Shoots like a dream. Flawless. Bought my wife the M&P shield 9mm...same thing. Both are outstanding in every way. Going back to Cabela's next weekend and bringing hom...e the M&P .45. I'm sold. S&W nailed it with this gun. more
5 stars for M&P!
I've had this firearm for 2 years now shot around 1000rds threw it never jammed had no misfires used all different cased cartridges for it just haven't had any issues. Really easy to clean, fit and function are great. I'...ve tested and tried other models in this category and I like this one the best. Very accurate! Also like the sights and the selection of sm, med and lrg palm grips and metal magazines. Just a great gun! Highly recommended! more
BANG! for your buck!
I picked this up from the LaVista NE store. Staff was awesome.
Had mine for 2 years and beat it ... it is ,Light, Powerfull , Accurate ,Durable, Reliable , Looks good ,Fits in the hand, easy to take apart and clean ....GET ONE in range kit ....super deal!Nicer than a Block !I trust m...y life with this gun more
A real workhorse
I purchased this model in 2010 and could not be happier or more satisfied. Out of the box, it required minor adjustment to be dead-on accurate, and it's remained so to this day. I've put in excess of 50K rounds through t...his weapon, and it has jammed only twice--both times after it had been fired in excess of 200 times, and both times with (perhaps substandard) hand loads. It has always performed exactly as it should. more
great bang for the buck
shoots well, comes with case, extra grip inserts and 2 clips. Shoots great, feed everything without malfunction. Very accurate. Only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the trigger is a bit funky on this one. A little cl...ean up and de-burr and its wonderful. more
I have been shooting pistols since I was 12 years old and anymore, not easily impressed. I look at every handgun and want to know how well it will group. Sometimes it is a waste of money to find out first hand. With the ...C.O.R.E., it is definitely not a waste. It is a fun pistol to shoot. I just shot a 4 inch group at 45 yds. with a 25 mph side wind. I have a Burris Fastfire III on it which was also a great addition. Sure the trigger isn't like a Sig, but it is striker fired with the safety built in the trigger. You will overcome it. I purchased this pistol for a critter gitter, not self defense, paper shooting, or shooting competition. I plan on taking it 'yote calling next winter for anything under 50 yards. I know a lot of people write reviews and I am about as particular as they come. You won't be disappointed if you buy this pistol. more
Great gun, not so great trigger
Pro: This is a great deal, comes with an extra mag, mag holster, gun holster, and loader. Also very easy to field strip and clean.
Great gun, my primary home defense gun..
This gun is great. Feeds/shoots every brass ammo I have ever put in it (about 2500 rounds so far). Very reliable. Hold the gun properly and it will never have failure to feed, fail to fire, or failure to eject. It shoots... about 1"-1.5" groups from 10 yards all the way 30 yards with my experience from using it overtime. more
SHOOT ALL DAY
Interchangeable grip sizes allow for a simple free way to custom fit to your desired size. The Range Kit is the only way to buy, all the extras supplied save at least a $100.00 plus.Maglula Uplula speed loader makes loadi...ng the 3 magazines a breeze.Affordable enough to shoot all day at the range and not break the bank. more
Smith M & P CORE 5" is the Real Thing
I have several M & P pistols, but everything about the 5" barrel CORE model reigns supreme above the others. There is a balance to this particular pistol that the 4.25" pistols do not posses. It is light fo...r a competition handgun, but it shoots better than most modified 1911 style pistols. The iron sights are amazing, and from personal experience, they do co-witness nicely with the S & W recommended optic choices. Even the enhanced grips prove worthwhile. If you do compete, there are reasonably priced trigger improvement possibilities that will take the trigger pull under 3 pounds...and go for a reflex sight. The slide is already milled for it. Your groups will instantly shrink. Can you carry with an optic? For sure! There are many holsters that leave a deep enough cut on the front to allow for the optics. With optic battery life up to 4 years, left on full-time, there is no reason not to go red dot--and if the battery goes away, you can still see your iron sights. Awesome! S & W scores 100%. more
Excellent Choice in competition pistols
This pistol has it all. It is competition optic ready. If you don't need optics, you probably shouldn't consider it. The iron sights co-witness the optic in case of a battery failure during competition. The factory trigg...er pull is a miss for a competition oriented pistol so designated as C.O.R.E. Trigger work is inexpensive in relation to having a standard Smith M & P slide milled to accept a reflex optic. Smith includes mounting plates for 5 different sights, but all of them are pretty high-end. Seems like a mount for a Burris Fast Fire III should have been included. more
I've shot lot's of different guns since I was twelve years old, but this was my first purchase. I bought the 9mm full size for my concealed carry, thought it would be difficult to conceal, but I was way wrong. Even durin...g the summer with just a t-shirt, my wife couldn't even tell when I was carrying. I bought this gun back in June, have put close to 1500 rounds through it, not a single jam yet. It's also incredibly easy to take apart and clean. I use some CLP and it cleans it up good. Love this gun! more
Finding a Fit
My interest in semiautomatic handguns gets renewed ever couples years only to be met by the disappointing reality that I just can't find one that fits my hand. You see, not only are my hands small, my index finger is onl...y 2" long (birth defect). It's a real challenge to be able to hold a handgun properly and reach the trigger with enough surface area of my fingertip to get a steady squeeze. The only success I've had in the past was with my Smith & Wesson J frame fired with the hammer engaged in single action mode. A local indoor gun range advertised that they had several rental guns available to "try before you buy" and I thought this would be a good way to satisfy my curiosity. The gun guys at the range were very patient and helpful. It took a while but I tried 9 different pistols in 3 different calibers before arriving at a winner. Although I desired a full-size/high capacity service style pistol, my assumption going in was that the slimmer concealed carry style would be my only option. I was pleasantly surprised to discover some new designs that were realistic candidates. I started with the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm and liked it from the first shot. The grip fit and the trigger had a very clean break. The shots weren't in a tight group but better than I'd ever shot with a semiautomatic pistol. My next trial was to be the Springfield XD-S 9mm but, unfortunately, they didn't have any Springfield XD's to try. Apparently, there is a major safety recall and all their XD's had been sent back to the factory for a fix. Hmm... So, next I tried a Kahr CW 9mm and a Kahr CW .40S&W. Already owning a Kahr K 9mm, I thought this would wind up being the perfect choice. However, after shooting the M&P Shield, my performance with the Kahr's was disappointing. I hit the target but shots were spread out and it just didn't feel right. Trying the same gun in .40S&W was interesting. The recoil didn't seem that bad but the pattern on the target proved that I had less control. At this point, one of the gun guys suggested that I might try the Smith & Wesson M&P Compact model even through the grip was wider than on the M&P Shield. I had serious doubts but figured this was the time to find out. They gave me a Compact 9mm. It felt awkward in my hand as it had a thicker and shorter grip - my pinky finger was dandling. I shot it better than the Kahr's but not at well as the Shield. However, it did prove that I could reach and squeeze the trigger even with the wider handle. I told the gun guy thanks but not for me and moved back down to the concealed carry sizes. The Walther PPS 9mm was next on the list. It's a funky little gun about the size of the Shield but with unique european styling. I didn't like the way it operated. The groups were not as good as with the Shield. Probably a very good gun but just not my taste. Then I tried the Sig Sauer 938 9mm. It's a beautiful gun that looks like a baby 1911. In fact, it has the exact same single action of the 1911 that so many swear by. I really wanted to like it more. My finger easily reached the trigger and it was pretty accurate. In the end though, the single action is not what I'm looking for right now. Someday I'll probably have one but not now. I was about to give up when the gun guys said that if I liked the S&W M&P Shield but didn't plan on using it as a concealed carry weapon I should really try altering my grip a bit and shoot the full sized M&P. Okay, let's go for it - let me see the big M&P .45auto. Surprise. I can handle it pretty well but nowhere near as comfortable to shoot as the small Shield 9mm. Step down (not really down - more sideways) to the M&P .40S&W. Wow. It shot it even better than the .45auto. Finally they hand me the M&P 9mm, with a knowing grin. Groups better than the Shield 9mm, feels like a real gun and holds 17 rounds in the magazine. So, armed with this experience, I made the trek to Cabelas. It was a real struggle deciding between the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield and the full size M&P 9mm. The Cabelas exclusive kit that came with the full size service style M&P was a good deal and that's what I bought. Next day, I went to the indoor range and fired 200 rounds through it. So far, I'm thrilled with the gun. It's easy too shot, had no jams or problems at all, and I could hit the broadside of a barn with it. In fact, I tried shooting out to 15 yards with the last magazine and actually hit the 10" Shoot 'n See target a few times. That's something I would have never thought possible for me and a hand gun. The loading device that came as part of the kit (and I had dismissed as a gimmick) made it almost too easy to keep all three of the 17 round magazines full. It's amazing how quickly one can burn through the ammo shooting a high capacity semi auto. Glad I bought a can of 500 rounds and a cleaning kit when I got the gun. Be safe, have fun, shoot hard, shoot often. more
Bought the M&P 9 about 6 months ago and love it. Went in wanting to pickup a ruger sr9 but were sold out. Sales staff in Mitchell, SD was very helpful and knowledgable about all their guns and recommended the m&p.... It has performed beautifully with tight groupings. Muzzle flip is nonexistent. My 80 lb. 12 year old son can pop off 2-3 quick shots with ease and be right back on target. Shot nearly 1000 of cheap $10/100 rounds through it with absolutely zero issues. Thanks to the Mitchell staff for directing me to this gun. more
Very well made pistol, feels great in your hand and is easily concealed. Has an ambedextrious thumb safety for added security unlike the Glock, huge benefit in my opinion and comes with 3 interchangeable palm swell grip ...backstraps that can be changed out to fit most any size hand comfortably. My only complaint would be the trigger pull is too heavy, otherwise would be a solid 5 stars. more
Love this gun
I have put 500 rounds through this gun without one problem. I bought the 40 cal. The range kit is excellent with the extra mags & holder. The holster is perfect fit and holds the gun snug and comfortably. Easy no too...l disassembling and easy to clean. I use the large grip back strap. it fits my hand perfectly. more
After a 6-month long search for the best handgun for me and its intended protection/defense uses it came down to 3 choices for my first handgun. It was not until I went in and handled all 3 that I decided the feel of the... gun in my hand and the Smith&Wesson M&P-9 was for me. Good balance, nice fit, and the slide lock on both sides was an added bonus. First trip to the range and all 100 rounds hit the target and there was very limited kick or sway, then a basic handgun class where it went great! Shot 200+ rounds without a single problem, and the instructor even gave it a few shots and proclaimed it was a great engineered gun and a great choice. Now my wife wants a S&W M&P-22 as her first gun. more
Excellent Hand Gun
I bought the M&P 40 two tone. What an awesome deal for the price that includes: Gun, 3 Interchangable Grips, Gun Holster, 3 Magazines, 2 Clip Mag Holder, Ammo Speed Loader, Gun Case, Gun lock, and Manual. Took it to ...the range and put about 500 rounds. The first 50 were off just a little. It was getting broken in and after that it shot like a dream. Not a single problem with it at all. Feels good, low recoil, sounds good what more can you ask for. If you don't have one get one you will not regret it. more
Just bought this yesterday and put 200 rounds through it. This is an awesome gun for a new or veteran shooter. Not one problem with it, and I specifically shot some cheap ammo. It was very accurate and had a nice trigger..., (better than most out of the box) This is my 3rd M&P and I hope to soon have it in 45. more
I have shot around 1000 rounds through this gun and it works every time. M&P is a great USA made handgun.
S&W M&P 9mm Excellent first gun
I bought this gun less than a month ago. It is the very first firearm I have ever owned and think it is a great value for the money. I have put 500 rounds through this gun in the past few weeks with zero FTL or FTF issue...s. I bought this for home protection as well as fun at the range. The 9mm is perfect as it doesn't kick as hard as I'm told a .40 or .45 would so the other half is comfortable firing it as well. A .40 or .45 might have been too much for her. I'm really enjoying this gun and looking at concealed carry options such as the S&W Shield as well. more
I am very happy with this smith m&p 9mm. It shoots well. I've had no malfunctions after putting 500 rounds thru it. It feels excellent in my hand. The back straps are great and I like the 17 round mags. Its very easy... to field strip and clean. The trigger takes a little time to get used to. Overall, very happy with this gun. Thanks Cabelas in Gonzales, Louisiana for the easy transaction. more
As good as Glock
I have over 2000 rounds through my M&P9 without one failure of any kind. It is not picky with ammo, points naturally, feels great in your hand and is as accurate as the shooter. I have sold my Glock 17 & 22. Look...ing to get the M&P40 soon. more
one of my favorite guns
I love this gun! The 2 tone looks great and it's a straight and comfortable shooter. it's the best deal in the house when you consider you get 2 additional back straps, 3 mags a holster and a mag holder all Included.
not a plinker
This is a big handgun (I use the 40 cal.) but not nearly the kick I was expecting. First hand gun I've used in a very long time. Fired 650 rounds in two day training for work. I don't own one (yet) but will likely do so ...shortly. The gun is set up for either right or left handed and can be broken down quickly and put back for either hand. Comes with three grip sizes for pretty much any hand size. I have the largest size but trained with a very small gal who is quite comfortable with the smallest size. I found the mag release a bit awkward to use quickly for a fast reload but not too bad. I've talked to some who switch the mag release to the opposite side and use the index finger to release. Don't know how well that works and we're not allowed to do that at work. Quite pricey to use at the range, even if you do your own re-loads but I for one don't intend to make it a regular habit of shooting a lot with it at the range. Nice feel and balance, not too heavy and, as stated, not a whole lot of recoil. more
M&P 9 Full Size
I was torn between this and a glock, and am glad I went with the M&P. Feels Good in the hand with interchangeable grips and beaver tail. Has much better three dots sights than a glock, and has options. I went with an... ambidextrous thumb safety which is optional, and is capable of firing with out the magazine in it which is also optional. It has a good trigger and is able to switch the mag release to either side. I also love how simple it is to dissemble and clean. PS also comes with two magazines. more
M&P 45 Full size
Bought a new M&P 45 Full size and cannot be more pleased. Excellent ergonomics and shoot ability.
Can't shoot it enough.
I bought my two tone M&P at Cabela's about a year ago to add to the full size M&P I already owned, and the Shield I bought last Spring. The two tone is set up with a Streamlite TLR-1 and Blade Tech tactical holst...er. I also had S&W send me some flat earth palm swells as I prefer the monotone look, like the VTAC model. My other full size M&P carries a Crimson Trace laser and CT Lightguard which came with a slide holster to fit. Both are great bedside and carry guns. I do find myself carrying the Shield a lot as well, as the tacslide holster fits it well. All 3 are 9mm. I'm looking to get the M&P in .22 for my son. He's a lefty, and it's the only .22 I've found with a reversible mag release and ambi slide stop. By the way, I can't remember having a problem with any of them, with somewhere close to 10,000 rounds put through them together. more
I was on the market about a year ago for a handgun and looked at the M&P line. After reading other reviews and looking up videos of testing with them I decided to get one. When I found the 2 tone kit at Cabelas I fel...l in love with it even more. I have had the handgun for just over a year and have about 1000 rounds through it with no problems. The range kit is a super deal with the 3 magazines, 3 back straps, and holsters. I have been looking for a M&P 40C or even a M&P 40 SHIELD for a cary gun. I would recomend this to anybody and everybody that wants a great firearm for an amazing price. more
my first pistol
I bought the M&P 40 full size several years ago for my first pistol. I'm a petite woman, and wish the compact size was available when I purchased this gun. It has been a great gun. I absolutely love it. Only malfunct...ion I had was an end of spring broke off when I disassembled it. I contacted smith & Wesson and replaced it without any issues. more
It's a keeper
I had tried three other major brand striker fired .40S&W handgins, and I kept one fo them for a long while. It served me well, but after shooting a friend's S&W M&P40, I decided to sell mine and buy one of th...ese M&P's for my own. Had I bought this one first, I would have never tried the others. I decided on this Dark Earth Carry kit because I liked the looks and 3 mags is a plus. The holster rides a little low for my liking, and doesn't have that "snap" I'd like from a kydex holster. But as for the pistol:This is the softest shooting .40 S&W handgun I have ever shot or owned. I use the smallest palmswell adapter as I have very thick hands and that is the one that works best for me. I don't know how else to describe it but it just is an amazing fit for my hand. more
Great & Reliable!
Purchased the M&P .40 two tone for my 21st birthday. I have many pistols that have been handed down, but this was my first actual purchase. Did the research, M&P stated that it was rugged, durable, and reliable- ...all these claims are true. I've since fired about 1,000 rounds through it, never a jam. I do clean it every trip though. more
Smith & Wesson M&P Pistols are awesome!
The M&P line of handguns are one of the best production lines I've seen from from S&W in a while. I am very impressed with the design and ergonomics of these weapons. The ability to change the grips out in order ...to better fit your hand help tremendously. These guns are also very accurate right out of the box too. In addition, I will have to say that S&W has one of the best customer service departments in the business. I recently had some magazine springs go bad and they sent me the replacements free of charge and without question. You won't go wrong with purchasing an M&P! more
I am very happy with the M&P 45 cal pistol. It is a very comfortable shooting pistol, and very accurate gun.
I purchased the 9mm right after Christmas, I have put 400 rounds thru it. I used 4 different manufactures ammunition including an aluminum case, 115gr and 147gr, this gun took everyone of them with no issues or jams. The... trigger does take a little bit to get use to it, As far as using the sears deactivation lever, I didn't have a problem with, I liked the safety feature of it; you don't need to use it if you don't want to. For my carry weapon I will look at the SW M&P 40 compact. I would recommend this gun to anyone, I too went to cabela's to get a clock, but once I picked this gun up, it was a done deal. more
Perfect gun for the price
I purchased this handgun this weekend and have shot a box of shells threw it. It shoots amazing, and its very accurate. The staff at the cabelas in Hazelwood MO was very helpful and kind on helping me find wich pistol I ...wanted. I highly recommend thsi pistol especially for a first time pistol buyer. more
Picked one of these up a few days ago and took it on it's first run today. 150 rounds(50 115grain fmj and 100 147 grain fmj) out of the box without a single problem. I'll admit I walked into Cabela's to buy a different b...rand 9mm but this one really sold it's self. more
With the changeable backstraps you can find the right size grip for the right feel in your hand. 40 cal. handles like a dream, great crisp trigger, very accurate. I got mine with night sights. The staff at Hamburg, PA, C...abela's was very helpful. This is my carry piece, so the .45 stays home for home defence. But my favorite is the S&W M&P .40 FS. It just that good of a pistol. more
BEST PISTOL PURCHASE EVER!
I had previously owned a Glock23 / .40 cal., a S&W 686 plus .357 Magnum revolver and a Beretta FS92 INOX 9mm. After doing much research between the new Glock GEN 4's, Springfield Armory XDM's and the M&P's and re...ading review after review I finally bought the M&P 40 almost 3 weeks ago. Of the 3 pistols I have owned this is hands down the best pistol I have owned and shot. It feels very comfortable in my hand with the factory medium grip and is very accurate out of the box. I have put over 400 rounds through it without a hitch. This feels to have less recoil than my older Glock 23. I am planning to switched to small grip to see if I can tighten up grouping which is about 4" at 15 yards. Keep in mind I am not an avid shooter, but plan to practice much more. Cabela's was extremely helpful in the purchase process and going through the features of the 3 manufactures I was looking at. I plan to get another M&P, the Shield in 9mm or maybe the 40, for the reviews are very good on it as a concealed pistol. Likely the 9mm though, just like to have more rounds if I plan to carry concealed. You will not regret buying a M&P! Bottom line try all the pistols you think you like and close your eyes and buy the one that feels the best in your hands. You have to feel comfortable with your choice, my was the M&P series and no regrets! more
M&P .40cal - Outstanding Pistol
I couldn't be happier with the performance of this handgun. Smith & Wesson has done an outstanding job with the engineering and construction of this pistol. I haven't found anything that I don't like about it. I've c...ycled hundreds of rounds through this gun so far with a variety of ammo and have not had one malfunction. Also, the sights were accurate out of the box. I'm very happy with my purchase! more
