    Stiff RSA
I bought this model last year (2017) when S&W offered rebate. It was impossible to rack. I have 9mm everything from low end (ASTRA, TARUS) to relatively high end (COLT, GLOCK, SIG SAUER). Nothing comes anywhere close... to how difficult this is to rack. S&W sent new recoil spring assembly (RSA). Minor help. Ended up buying Handi-Racker and putting 1200 rounds through the firearm in hopes it would loosen up. It has not loosened up enough to trust as every day carry! Other than that, I give the gun high marks. Take a look at the forums. Hard to rack!! This problem goes back at least 4 or 5 years. Now you know why S&W developed 380 Shield E Z. more

    I love it!
I've had my Shield 9mm since 11-17, have put 1000's of rounds through it, and it has yet to have a single malfunction. Don't be put off by the fact that this is not the Shield 2.0. It is accurate, and eats 11...5 grain, 124 grain, and 147 grain in FMJ and JHP with no problems whatsoever. I've used Winchester, Remington, Blazer, Fiocchi, Federal, and a few other mfgs and all shoot well. I have not used steel cased ammo but I don't doubt this pistol's ability to handle it. This is my EDC firearm and goes everywhere that I go! At PSA's price as of 12-12-18, DON'T PASS IT UP. more

    Great Handgun...except
Really like this gun. It's the perfect size and conceals easily. It has never failed to feed, fire, or flip. And I've used several brands of ammo. The only gripe is the takedown procedure. But it's still a 5 weapon. more

    Pleasantly surprised..
Took to the range and put 150 rds through it with no failures. All my other handguns are single action so I was pleasantly surprised with the trigger. I have read where some replace it with after market. To me it is just... fine. I do have to say I have been spoiled with my handgun sights and I have already invested in some tijicons for this handgun. I caught on sale and Academy was also giving you 3 free mags with the purchase($90 value). So I feel the cost of the sights were justified in my book. Excellent weapon and buying experience
Very nice weapon. I purchased the 45 ACP model last year for Father's Day (when S&W was running the rebate) and kicked myself for not also getting the 9. When it came up for sale in Dec, I jumped on it. PSA is awesome now, very much improved from 2 years ago. more

    Great pistol for the money.
I have all 3 Shields. 1 in 9mm, 1 in 40 S&W, and the last in 45ACP. Fell in love with the way they fit my hand. That's why I bought the 3. Up until now I have only bought Glock's, which are really good pist...ols. But the Shield felt so much better. I could really get ahold of it. Because the Shields are small pistols, the recoil and muzzle rise can be a little intense, depending on the ammo you are shooting. Since I am not a young man any more and I am having old age issues with my hands, I bought and installed Threaded Barrels and Muzzle Brakes on both the 9mm and 40 S&W Shields. Was surprised by just how well the Muzzle Brakes reduced recoil and muzzle rise. I was able to shoot more ammo and my hands did not hurt nearly as much. Plus I was able to shoot better groups with the Muzzle Brakes on and still no malfunctions of any kind using a variety of different ammos.. Great pistols. more

    Nice gun
Without going into an in depth right up let me just say this is a great gym that was purchased for a great price. Minus one star due to apparent finish wear. Not sure if it was a demo piece or what but some of the finish... was worn on the frame, slide and barrel. For the price it was totally acceptable but since it was listed as new I have to take a star. more

    Awesome gun
I have arthritis in my thumbs which make it hard to rack a slide on a 9mm or other handgun. The slide on this is so easy, loading the magazines are easy, cleaning is easy well just easy LOL Love going to the range to sho...ot and can't wait to carry (awaiting my ltc). My significant other agreed to purchase this gun for me when I passed the ltc class. Actually it was on sale about a month ago at your store and he went ahead and purchased it. Needless to say I passed the course easily. Recommend this to anyone with low hand strength or arthritis. You won't be sorry. more

    Great CC gun
After researching several 9 mm guns I decided to go with The Shield. So glad I did! I love it! Easy to conceal, fun to shoot and super accurate. Very thin and undetectable when carrying. I love that Shield
I love that Shield. It is my EDC pistol. Light weight and compact. My only concern is the very stiff recoil spring. Makes it difficult for an old guy to rack the slide. It is not a problem on the range but I would be in ...trouble if I were injured in a SHTF situation. Looking for a more flexible after market spring. Durable M&P Shield
I purchased this firearm from Academy about three months ago. I kept it in the bottom drawer of my dresser next to my bed. About two weeks after I bought it my house caught fire. The fire started in the bedroom and destr...oyed virtually everything, especially in my bedroom. After the firemen had put our the fire the inspectors and Police officers rummaged through the debris. The only thing they recovered that hadn't been burned or melted was my Shield and a Catholic Bible. Despite intense heat of more than 2000 degrees the Shield survived. more

    Defective new out of box
I bought this shield 9mm new from Academy. Went to test fire it several times and it would not go into full battery mode and the rounds would get caught in the chamber. I shot around 300 rounds and the same thing every t...ime you would chamber a round the pistol would have about A few mms to get to full battery. I took it back to send in for repair and they sent it to the wrong manufacturer. They got it back and they finally sent it to Smith and Wesson. Smith and wesson has had it for about 2 weeks and still hasn’t worked on it. Almost 2 months later and still don’t have a pistol I paid 400 dollar for. Disappointed in this product and the time that it has taken to get it repaired. more

Shield .40 and 9mm easy concealed carry
I use both for concealed carry. The .40 is slightly more powerful but has 1 less round ; both are 100% reliable out of the box. Both take the Crimson trace green laser grip/ holster combination which allows easy IWB/OWB ...carry. They are light and do not chafe the skin after all day carry unlike heavier pistols. I use the .40 because of its higher power level while another family member uses the 9mm . It takes +P 9mm loads with little recoil. Either version is great. more

    Must have
Most accurate concealed carry gun for me. Super light, easy to put shots on target, great gun for your LTC. I read bad reviews concerning stiff slides on this gun, people fail to understand that there is a break in perio...d with all new firearms. I want a stiff slide starting out, that's what I look for. However, I didn't notice any significant difference between this slide and all the other guns I own. Far as ammo goes, do NOT buy Hornady Critical Duty hollow points. The round is almost the same size of the barrel and will jam 100% of the time when de-chambering. more

    Very impressed
I have several larger Smith and Wesson M&P pistols. Had no intention of buying a smaller one but when Palmetto ran it with the rebate a few months ago $199 delivered to my door was too good to pass up. All my other S...mith's have been retrofitted with Apex triggers which are fantastic. This Shields trigger out of the box was better than my others were stock but still somewhat gritty. After examining it I decided the grittiness was all in the slide and action. Removed the rear sight took the components out and polished them with jewelry polish and a small Dremel. Big difference !! Pull is now a smooth all the way through. Gun is amazingly accurate for such a small package out to about 25 yards. I also added a Pachmyer rubber grip wrap because my hands are pretty large. Have fired around 1200 rounds through it with two ejection problems on a box of cheap aluminum case ammo. Jams cleared immediately. Carry ammo is Underwood Extreme Defender which it eats along with everything else flawlessly. Could not be happier with my purchase and trust my life to it anytime. more

    Best small conceal carry gun
I have bought Smith & Wesson SD9 and SD40VE which are good value guns, but the M&P Shield is a true top notch gun. Heavy duty (hence the heavy slide) solidly built, this gun did nothing but perform right out of t...he box. Zero issues. The sights are actually great, easy to see in all light conditions. The trigger is awesome, perfect reset for fast follow up shots. It will take some break in to ease up the slide and slide lock as well as the springs in the magazines. If you are looking for an ideal conceal carry gun or a small reliable nightstand gun this is it. Extremely pleased with the quality and performance. more

    Excellent Choice
This is my 3rd purchase from Academy. Easy transaction. Great pistol for conceal carry. The slide is very stiff. The remedy is to add a ArachniGrip sticker to the top of the rear slide near the sights. Nothing, oil, soap..., water on the grip will stop you from racking the slide. Everyone will benefit from this grip. Easy to apply, heat/seal with a hair dryer and you are good to go. The new magazines are also stiff. Buy a reloader and save your fingers. more

    My Third M&P Shield
I have three M&P 9mm Shields. I have a great Performance Center Shield that I bought 18 months ago. It was my CCW but it had a thumb safety. I then bought a 9mm Shield from PSA without a thumb safety. I like it very ...much - S&W advertised a 6.5 pound trigger. This Shield has a 9 pound trigger pull. I thought the deal on Shields was too good to pass up and ordered a 9mm with thumb safety at the end of June from PSA to take advantage of the price of $199.99 which can't be beat. I took the Shield to a gunsmith who tested the trigger pull. He could not get it to register as his device only went to 12 lbs of pull. He estimates the pull to be between 12 and 13 lbs. He said he would not be able to overcome a pull that strong. I have not shot the weapon. I will call Smith & Wesson tomorrow and see if they can send me different springs. If that fails I will have to get an APEX solution. That negates the savings. I have total confidence with Palmetto State Armory and have bought four pistols from them as well as magazines and cases of ammo. They are not responsible for a S&W product that advertises a 6.5 lb. trigger and has a 12 to 13 lb. trigger. PSA is a great company. I will continue to purchase items from them! more

For the reduced price it's ok.
I guess you get what you pay for. I went for the recent $274.99 deal. Sure glad I didn't spend $400 on this. The fit and finish is lacking. It seems like a factory second compared to two other SHIELD 9 pistols I' had in my hands. There is a noticable gap between the magazine base and the grip. The recoil spring base was bent. The roll pin aft of the safety was not fully seated providing a sharp edge for my thumb. The safety lever ridges are marred like it was hit with something.I feel certain it will operate as expected. The internal mechanisms seem solid. It's just not as polished as expected when compared to ones my friends purchased a few years ago. more

    I stumbled onto a jewel
The price made for a quick sale. The reviews were mostly good but several negs had me only mildly concerened. This is a fantastic deal on an excellent pistol. The clip spring is already easier to compress. The slide is o...nly a bit stiff. Man hands have no issues with these afforementioned strong springs. I wanted a carry pistol that I would actually carry that was a little beafier than my very convenient LCP. I wanted my edc to have tritium sights so I was worried about the install of the Ameriglo SW-745 already on order. A brass punch set from tractor sply and a four lb. sledge tapped them right out and in with the four folds of electrical tape serving as a keeper for the spring I was warned about on the right side of the rear sight. Out to the right and in from the left was good advice. I told every one I could about this deal and could not believe the sale went on for so long. The ext. clip is great at the range and the 7 rnd. is an ealy carry. Very Happy! more

    Unreal value for the price
I had to have the Shield for the $199.99 price point after rebate. I was not expecting to choose the Shield over my XDS for carry but the Shield is lighter thinner and just felt better in my hands. I had an issue of acti...vating the slide lock on my XDS if I was not careful but I have no issues with the Shield. The Shield is now my EDC handgun of choice. Combined with my Alien Gear IWB holster the combo is hard to beat. more

Great deal after rebate but would've been disappointed that I paid full price
What a deal for $199 after rebate. But there are a couple of things that I'm not crazy about first of all the magazines are ridiculously hard to load and when I compare the recoil to my Walther PPS which is very Clos...e in size and weight it definitely has more recoil. Had I not got this on sale and had the rebate I would've been disappointed but for the price that I paid I can't complain that much. more

    M&P Shield 9 and 45
Back from the Range and I have to say for the money and concealment I got me a gem. Both weapons functioned flawless. Basic S&W box with no frills. You get 2 Magazines a lock and manual. That's it. Now cool plast...ic box. Anyway I worked the 9mm a little harder than the .45 because it will be my wife's CCW. I ran 4 boxes (200 Rounds) through it without a hitch. Gun ran as I wanted it to. Felt good for a single stack and extremely accurate. Still a slight issue with the tight spring and useless slide release. You will have to just charge the weapon after a Mag change. You really should be doing that in combat anyway. Maybe the spring will eventually loosen up but it's not enough for me to condemn the gun. The .45 was a beast but not as much recoil as I expected. It too was accurate and I was actually able to work the slide release with my thumb. If I were in a combat situation and sweaty then forget it. Trigger is crisp and feels good on the finger on both guns. I have to give the Shield big marks for concealment very clear sights and accuracy. Also ease of take down and cleaning. I am on the border about that spring. Overall I'm impressed with the performance of the small but accurate gun. Honestly my only issue is I should have purchased two of each. more

    Great for the Price
Bought one Dec 2016 for $379 for my 83yo Reverend friend who felt he needed to start carrying. That was cheapest I could find then though saw it $349 a month earlier.I did not want/nor need one as I have a PT111 I love an...d has been flawless for 800+ rounds but Icould not turn down $199.99 after free shipping $75 rebate and free FFL thru my club.Have not shot mine but liked shooting my friend's.Note about tight Mags any good mag should be tight when new. I just loaded my new ones w/ my UpLULA mag loader and had no problem (worth the $25 on sale).I usually leave them loaded a week to 'condition' the spring. As for Slide lock not being a true slide release like on every pistol I have (7) - contrary to an earlier snide comment from AZHTfreak to us "Dufi's" re: it being a 'non-issue' - it IS an issue for those of us that normally close our slides w/ that release.I like using the slide release as I can keep the firearm on target with both hands gripping the firearm when I release the slide with my thumb instead of taking my grip support hand off the grip yanking back on the slide which takes the pistol off target then putting my hand back on the grip and then putting the pistol back on target; seems like an unnecessary and time consuming step to me.Some may say that this assures a clean round feed/chamber and close of the action; which may be true.I have yet to have a jam by closing the slide w/ seated round by releasing just the slide release.Obviously we will have to learn the slide rack technique with this pistol just surprised M&P needed to be different. more

Best deal and best shooting gun
I was in law enforcement for many years. I was on SWAT for many years and have extensive training in various weapons. I carried a Kember 45 1911 ($2500) with all the bells and whistles. I carried a variety of Glocks (172...219) just to name a few. My kember had a 2 pound pull and was very smooth. Until shooting this Smith & Wesson MP 9 mm shield I thought the kember was the best over all the guns I've had the pleasure of shooting. After running my own 50 round course on the range starting at the 3 yard line and ending at the 25 yard line I held a 6" pattern. Prior to this SW my best was on average a 10" pattern. I am overly impressed with the action trigger pull how the gun fits in my hand (very comfortable) and it was extremely accurate. This size is comparable to a Glock 43. But this SW has an external thumb safety near the rear side and of course the glocks safety is in the trigger (still bugs me). The SW is a little tricky to break down but after some practice it wasn't too hard. It's a perfect concealment carry gun and fits in the pocket discreetly if so desired. I carry a paddle outside the belt holster with no problems. Overall this is been the best shooting weapons I have had the pleasure of shooting to date and the most accurate. I use hornady 135 critical duty for concealment carry. But shoot 115 FMJ for target practice. This weapon is light and after the rebate you are basically getting the gun for free. Before shooting this weapon I thought the Kimber or Glock was the best shorting gun and I've shot other pistols and I am still surprised that the Smith & Wesson has been the best I have ever shot. I know this is a long review but I am just that impressed. Btw I've shot the Glock 43 and Bodyguard which do not come close to this MP Shield. more

    Clinton stock?
This must have been left over pre-election Clinton stock! I wasn't in the market for a new carry gun but couldn't pass up this deal. I went to my local FFL to see if they could price match PSA and I got laughed a...t. So I watched my favorite you tubers for a review and made the purchase. What a sweet gun! Nice trigger feels good in the hand easily concealable with my galco king tuck. So nice to shoot that I purchased bulk ammo for some range time. Excellent carry pistol
The Smith and Wesson Shield 9mm is an excellent carry pistol. It holds more rounds than the Glock 43. Is available with a safety if you feel more comfortable with one. The trigger is nice and more comfortable to use than... my Glock 43. The Shield is an accurate pistol more accurate than you would think for a small carry pistol. It handles recoil well. I highly recommend the Shield 9mm especially at PSA's pricing. You will love the gun. more

    Awesome little gun
I own two of these weapons. I love the fit, the way it handles, that way it's easy to conceal... what I don't like, or didn't like when the gun was new, was how hard it was to handle the slide. This thing very, VERY hard to manipulate the slide when new. What I did was buy a pair of heavy work gloves and just racked the slide several hundreds of times. Just wreck it numerous times while you were in bed watching TV! I also think it takes at least 200-300 rounds or so before it will break in. Once I got through this initial new stage, I've had no issues. But trust me, I was thinking about returning that gun because of the difficulty to rack it! The second Shield own, I purchased used and didn't have to go through breaking in period. I am quite tall and slender and like how I can conceal the weapon (IWB)with no issues. I can carry it on my ankle if positioned right and even drop it in a pocket if I have baggy shorts. I've had no issues while firing this weapon, it looks good, feels good in my hand, and fairly accurate. I think those with weaker or smaller hands will enjoy this weapon ONCE you get over the initial stiff stage of racking it. This gun is worth the money and worth buying two. The box it came in isn't worth anything, but the gun itself is recommended. more

    Stress test
I purchased one last week. Actually, this is my second Shield 9mm. I collect and usually have 2 of everything that is worth having. That explains my opinion of the gun. As usual, first thing is to run 1000 rounds to test the piece. It performed with no hiccups and digested Federal, Remington, Hornady and Winchester ammo perfectly. Smith and Wesson truly did their homework on this gun and other brands are playing catch up. Design is simple, easy and comfortable for personal carry, can be disassembled in the dark with ease. I really hate to say this, but the 3.1 inch barrel holds a tighter group at 25 feet than any of my Springfield compact handguns, such as the XD (S) 3.3 inch barrel. Only 2 disadvantages I have ever found on the Shield is the 3 dot sight. Many brands come stock with fiber optic type, so 3 dot isn't across the board standards anymore. Secondly, the Shield has a site window, or peep hole that serves as a loaded chamber indicator, thus meaning it must be daylight to check. Springfield has notch on top that can be felt for chamber indication. Much more user friendly. Overall, this is an excellent gun. more

    Tight slide release and magazines
I bought the M&P after shooting one that my son had purchased. I liked the groups better than the Taurus PT709 "Slim" that I was using as a carry gun. Before the purchase I did read about some of the issues... with a hard slide release. When I first tried it out the hard slide release was found to be true. What was also strange was the magazines would not fill to the 7 or 8 capacity as advertised. I am familiar with 9mm hand guns having owned the Taurus and a CZ75 and a Browning HighPower. The new 15 round magazines that I purchased for the HighPower allowed me to fill them to the stated capacity with out any problems. I ended up having to trim the spring on both the 7 round and the 8 round magazines to get them to take the full capacity. Having only fired about 100 rounds through the M&P it is still too early to give a 5 star on it especially after having a FTF on the second trip to the range. After firing 2-3 rounds it went "click". On ejecting the unfired round it had no marking on the primer. It was reloaded and then it did fire. There is hope that it will get better with more ammo run through it. This gun would be recommended with some reservations. more

    Save your money!
First time to the range after purchase and had problems. Couldn't even make it through the first 8 rounds!!!!!! After the third shot the slide catch activated and wouldn't release. Fired another three shots and... again the slide catch activated as if the gun was empty. After the seventh shot, the slide catch could not be released. The gun smith at the range could not get the weapon to return to battery. I have since sent the piece of junk back to Smith and Wesson and I'm waiting on the return. Do yourself a favor and save your money. There's a reason I have trusted my life as a LEO for the past 12 years with a GLOCK!!!! more

I bought my S&W M&P Shield about 2 months ago. I am a woman with small hands and a new shooter. The gun is initially very difficult to rack. I'm glad I didn't let that stop me from making the purchase. ...If you keep working with it and put the suggested 4-500 rounds through it; you'll find it gets much easier. This is a great gun. New M&P Shield 9mm
I have always been a huge 1911 .45acp fan. Just recently I opted to try the Smith and Wesson Shield 9mm and compared it to the the Glock 43. For my every day carry ccw the shield was the winner. Simply stated, wherever I... pointed the shield would connect. The recoil was minimal for a 9mm. Ease of ccw is very easy especially when compared to the following pistols; 1911, XD, Revolvers all in the small of the back and appendix style. If you're in the market for a ccw single stack you can't go wrong and you'll be very happy. more

    Absolutely Flawless Firearm!
This is a must have 9mm! First of all, it feels awesome in my hand (to each their own). Recoil is little to none even with heavier grained ammo. Will eat anything you feed it. Excellent EDC
Bought this just before Christmas this year. Discounted price plus gift card promo made it hard to resist. I own an M&P full size 9, and while the gun has functioned flawlessly the factory trigger was absolutely terr...ible. After replacing it with an apex kit, however, it became one of my favs. Figured I'd have to do the same with the shield, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the factory trigger on mine is quite good. Gun was definitely stiff at first, but has loosened up well after a few range sessions. Very fun and surprisingly comfortable to shoot for such a small pistol. Accuracy was spot on out of the box. Comfortable and highly concealable in my blade tech IWB holster. Love it! more

    Almost Perfect
I have the Shield with night sights and comes with 3 mags. Sights are small to see. Very good gun and shoots very well. Recoil is not bad at all. Great looking gun as well. I applied a rubber grip on mine and it makes it... even better. Easy to take a part and clean, then put back together. My problem is I'm 64 with problems with my hands which makes this particular gun extremely hard to rack the slide. It was not bad at first but has gotten worse. I bought this gun several months ago to fill the gap between my .380 Body Guard and my Springfield XD mod 2 9mm sub compact. It was a perfect fit. I am 6'5 and 230 lbs and have no issues with the size and feel of weapon. The Shield is my everyday carry. I shoot at least one magazine daily as I live in the country and can walk out my door to my shooting range. I also practice from my truck as I leave for work each day. Several thousand rounds with zero malfunctions. Easy to field strip and clean. The spring and lock back lever were stiff at first but have smoothed out nicely. Great weapon and highly recommend it. Very enjoyable pistol
I have a large collection of various companies in my 2 favorites, Which would be the 9mm and .45acp. The Springfield XD line happens to be my particular favorite. I purchased this S&W Shield 9mm 2 years ago. I shoot ...around 200 to 300 rounds per week. In comparison to the Springfield XD ( s ) 3.3 9mm, the Shield holds a better group at 25 feet than the XD. Much tighter indeed. I've compared side by side with Federal ammo 115gr in clean bore, clean x 1 fouling, hot barrel and cool barrel. A magnificent gun. Most small 9mm are very snappy and not much fun to shoot. Smith and Wesson really put the research into this gun. Highly recommended. more

Perfect single stack 9mm about to come in .45acp!
I bought the 9mm S&W Shield and it is the best "carry" gun I've ever owned. The barrel is only 3.1in so I'd prefer to have .45acp. That being said this 9mm shoots unbelievably well. The Shield is ...Single Stack, under 20oz and the barrel is just a tiny bit over 3 inches but I don't miss with this gun at 20 yards or less. The only Single Stack Polymer I've thought was comparable was the Springfield XDS, and that is because it ha a rail and the barrel is slightly longer at 3.3 inches... And Springfield Armory had a single stack in .45acp unlike S&W, Beretta or Glock. Well now S&W is making the Shield in .45acp, so I went ahead and bought a Beretta Nano 9mm and will be selling my 9mm Shield to my brother. The .45 Shield ALSO has a slightly longer barrel, at 3.3 inches which is perfect IMO. I've already put a $50 deposit down on one with night sights and I cannot wait to take it backpacking. more

    Love this gun
I bought MP Shield 9mm in July 2015. Since then I have put 1000+ rounds though it with zero jams or problems. I have shot new as well as well as re-loads with no issues. This was my first gun, and I did a good deal of, firing a number of different makes and models before settling on this. I was looking for a good C&C weapon. 8 months later I very happy with the purchase. At first I was firing low and left, but after working with it for a bit I can now pretty much put it where i want up to 30' out. After 30' I start to spray it a bit. I did have one problem with the gun. The slide spring broke 30 days after purchase. The spring came out in pieces when i was breaking it down for cleaning after a trip to the range. The S&W people were very helpful and friendly and shipped out a new spring super fast. They even shipped me an extra--no charge-- so I have a spare in stock. I would recommend getting night sights which make a huge difference when trying to lock on the target quickly. more

The most common complaint I’ve seen is the stiffness of the recoil spring and the “slide release”. Th...e spring was very stiff and few hundred rounds it smoothed out. It’s still a heavy spring but I wouldn’t want a <10lb spring in a carry gun. Would I recommend it yes, I’m . For those people out there who are having problems with the slide release double check your owner’s manual this gun does not have a “slide release” it’s a “slide lock”. Meaning its only purpose it to lock back the slide not to release the slide. The owner’s manual never says to depress the slide lock to release the slide it says “Pull the slide to the rear and release it, allowing it to carry fully forward.” Most M&P pistols have this same feature to reduce weight and overall size. more

I purchased this pistol for my wife and she loves it. It's a perfect size but will bite whatever you need to get off of you. I use Hornady Critical Defense ammo and have not had any problems in over 300 rounds. I...39;m getting another one next month as my HiPoint 40 and 45 are way too big to carry everyday. You can't go wrong with this strap! more

    A compact in denial
Except for the expected recoil from a short barrel, this pistol performs like a full size pistol. I have rather large hands so I prefer to shoot with the extended 8 round magazine (as pictured in this posting). However, ...when shooting with the shorter mag there is no noticeable difference. I waited to post this review after I had a chance to shoot over 400 rounds. I have had no misfires or misfeeds during any of my sessions at the range. I have heard several people complain about the fact that it has a safety. I prefer to keep the pistol fire ready so I simply ignore it. If I want use extra precaution, I don't chamber the round. The only thing about using a safety is getting in the habit of releasing it when it counts. The way that this gun is designed, it is easily disengaged by your thumb when gripping the pistol. So If you prefer to have a gun that is carried against your body to have a safety, this gun will work quite well. The only negative thing I can say about the pistol is that I have a little difficulty engaging the internal slide release mechanism when breaking the gun down. Its not that big a deal but it is a little hard to see and engage the first few times. With good lighting and the right tool, it gets easier with practice. more

    Love this weapon !
I purchased this about a month ago for my wife.Shot great right out of the box. When you get it, put about a hundred rounds through it. Store it with the slide locked back. Load full rounds in the magazines and set them ...up somewhere safe. After a week take it to the range again and put another hundred down range.Perfect ! Smooth and accurate. My wife couldn't even charge the first round when I gave it to her, but now, she loves it. more

extremely stiff slide and lock release
Bought this two weeks ago for wife...almost impossible for her to work the slide and lock release...So I tried the slide...have not shot in a few years, but I have six or seven pistols, formerly in the 82nd is very difficult to operate..took to a friend, West Point graduate and big guy, he said something wrong with this slide and especially the release...stiffest ever experienced..He showed me his pistols, to include two 1911s, that were much smoother...will take back to store and see what the problem is... more

    Very Satisfied
First of all, I analyze things to the extreme when making a purchase so I looked at all the options for quite some time. I was looking for a single stack 9mm but found it difficult to find one that fit in my hand well as... I'm a male with larger hands. With the extended clip, this gun fits perfectly. After taking it to the range, I was very pleased with my accuracy with this gun. more
