Best carry gun on the market!
Bought my shield in 9mm over a year ago and couldn't be happier. With the extended 8 round mag it is ergonomically perfect for my hand. Easy to aim, nice big sights, super thin single stack. Mine has the thumb safet...y but it is no issue at all. If you chose to, you can ignore it. It's out of the way and the whole pistol is shaped and rounded for a snag free draw. I might upgrade later with some night sights but I am perfectly happy with the sights supplied. Recoil is very manageable so I would save your money if you're thinking about the ported Shield with High Viz sights. You can find regular 9mm Shield on sale for as low as $299.00 with factory rebates. I've run all grains and configurations of ammo through mine without a hiccup. When new out of the box, field strip, clean, and LIGHTLY oil before shooting for the first time. Keep it cleaned and lightly oiled and it will be a dependable means of self protection. After all, isn't that why you bought it? more

    Junk
Brought this last June. Went to the range first time Spring broke in second clip. Brought it back to Academy . Good thing the manager let me exchange for the Glock 19. Because it's a defected gun. Love my Glock 19. ...Stay away SW gun. more

    Love my shield
I bought this a few weeks ago for my concealed carry pistol. I have already put about 500 rounds downrange with it after two trips out. I specifically bought different types of rounds to make sure it would fire with what... I wanted. No change from steel or brass. Great pistol more

Better than Glock 43 and the best single stack 9
I own a Glock 43 and wish I owned a shield 9mm without thumb safety. Having shot both extensively and having shot plenty of Glocks I can say without question that this is the superior pistol between the Glock 43 and it. ...I am a Glock fan as I own and love the 19, 26, and 43. Sadly, Glock just didn't get it as right as S&W did with the single stack. Read reviews, watch videos and reach your own conclusions, but for me, I'm getting a shield (and keeping the other Glocks, obviously). more

    9mm M&P Bit the bullet
I bought this two weeks ago and I had to send to Smith and Wesson because Academy will not take a return on firearms. Smith and Wesson will repair the defective firearm but refuse to process a refund. Basically, after th...e third round fired through the pistol the slide locked behind the slide lock lever and I had to clear and breakdown the pistol to free the slide lock. Changed the magazine and tried a different brand of bullets. Third round same thing occurred. Sent the pistol back to S&W and it has been three weeks now and I have fired 6 rounds. This is a piece of junk. more
