Springfield Armory Saint Description

The next generation of personal-defense rifles, Springfield Armory's Saint Semiautomatic Tactical Rifle achieves a higher level of uncompromising reliability, accuracy and overall performance. The 16" chromoly-vanadium Melonite-finished barrel, chambered in .223 Rem./5.56 NATO with 1:8 rate-of-twist rifling, increases your mark-hitting accuracy. Built with a direct-impingement midlength gas system for smooth shooting, less recoil and shot-after-shot reliability. Proprietary, enhanced micropolished, nickel-boron-coated, GI-style trigger group provides a smoother and more consistent trigger pull. The type-III, hard-anodized, corrosion-resistant, 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower receiver maximize strength while remaining lightweight. The M4 feed ramps on the upper and barrel extension ensure even more reliability, especially with M855 ammunition. Bravo Company black polymer pistol grip, buttstock and handguard add optimal control and support, and the BCM handguard has a heat metal shield to protect against barrel heat. Equipped with Springfield Armory's low-profile, flip-up, dual-aperture rear sight for electronic-free target acquisition. Available with a 30-round or 10-round Magpul PMAG® magazine.

    Best gun I have bought
I am very happy with this purchase. Well built ar with the right upgrades. Comes with a good rear sight. My only complaint is that the hand guard is shaky. Which is something I have heard from a lot of people.

BEST AR I HAVE OWNED TO DATE
When I first got the saint I really questioned if it was going to be worth the money. I soon found out it was. After breaking the barrel in with several rounds and cleaning I wanted to see how the groups were. Not bad fo...r an AR I thought, but the real change came when I took off the factory flash suppressor and put on a nice muzzle break. My groups really tighten up, I believe this was making the barrel stiffer at the muzzle end therefore taking some of the whip out of the battle at the working end. In other words tuned the barrels harmontics. This was pure accident because I just wanted the muzzle break because it looked cool. LOLI have shot this rifle out to 735 yards successfully, Great gun. I have the P-223 Nikon tactical scope on mine and my hobby is long range shooting.. I did a custom camo job on mine. more

    Great product!
Bought my Saint back in November when they first hit the market. I have shot several hundred rounds through it since then with out any issues what so ever. I've been waiting for Springfield to get into this market for 5 ...years and the wait was well worth it. So much more bang for the buck! All I added was a magpul sling and a vortex red dot. It's pretty much ready to go out of the box. more

    SA "Saint" AR-15 rifle
I purchased my SA "Saint" in February but didn't have a chance to take it out to shoot before the end of March (had a case of pneumonia to deal with). First thing I did when I got it home was clean the bore and... BCG and lube it so it was ready to go. I decided to bore scope the barrel after I cleaned it to see what it's condition was like "new". Boy was I surprised at what I saw. 30% of the barrel, from the mid length to the muzzle, was covered in heavy copper streaking. Closer to the muzzle it was heavy enough that in some places you couldn't see the rifling. 1 hour of cleaning with Bore Tech copper remover and brushing with M-PRO 7 hardly touched the stuff. I've always had great success with Bore Tech on my Rem 700 .223 bolt rifle which does copper foul but always cleans up nicely afterward. Needless to say I am quite concerned. It shot well the first time out for about 15 rds. and then the groups started to open up significantly. I was shooting Hornady "Black" & PMC M-TAC 62 grain 5,56 NATO rds. If I can't get it to shoot decent groups the second time out I'm going to send it back to SA. It's as if the last 4"-5" of the barrel has a smaller dia. restriction causing the significant copper fouling. I also noticed the crown looks like someone was chewing on it. Rough and uneven all around. I could clean that up with a 45 degree crown reamer but that would mean removal of the flash hider and reinstalling with a new crush washer. I could see doing that with a rifle after 500 or more rds. if necessary. But with a new rifle? I like the rest of the rifle for it's mid-length gas system, the Bravo Co. furniture and the over all feel / weight of it in my hands and how it rests at the bench. I'm going to wait and see how it performs on it's second outing. If it doesn't perform well I will have to contact SA and have it worked on. A new barrel would be my estimate of what needs to be done. Wish I had my bore scope with me when I bought the AR. Would have shown the condition before I signed for it. more

    Saint review
Purchased in March put 200 rounds through the rifle without issue. Rifle is accurate right out of the box. Like the fact that I don't need to change any of the furniture all quality. If you want a rifle that's good to go... out of the box at a good price, the Saint is for you. more

    Great AR, no upgrade necessary.
I ordered mine online at cabelas.com and 5 days after, I have it in my possession. Afterwhich, I did 100 rounds to break it in. I was amazed how smooth and accurate this AR from SA. I will recommend this AR to those who ...love to have an AR that is good to go out-of-the-box. The built is so great that you don't need to upgrade such to make it look good, it looks great already. My new favorite
I bought this rifle from Academy about two months ago. This is one of the best AR's you can get for it's price. Many say that not only the furniture is manufactured by BCM, but probably the bolt and receivers t...oo. I'll take a BCM rifle with the Springfield brand on it for that price any day. The hand rail is not bad at all. It pairs well with the BCM gunfighter vertical grip. Never jams, easy to clean. Eats all the ammo I've put through it. My 3rd Springfield firearm and my first AR. Now I see why they're so popular. more

Equipped with a keymod rail system and bravo company equipment all I did was add o...ptics to which the Iron sight cosign with perfectly. Nice iron sights. case is nice . love the Bravo Co. furniture especially barrel shroud it really fill's good in the hand. This AR-15 is well worth the money because you don't have to replace part after part to make it nice after all it's a "SAINT". I would recommend this AR-15 to any one looking to buy a AR-15 man or woman can shoot this AR-15 with confidence. shoots very smooth, no malfunctions with 5.56 or 223 amo over a 1000 rounds so far. fit and finish very nice. more

    Best Entry Level AR15
I've been waiting to buy my first AR for a few years now. When I saw Springfield entered the AR market, I didn't hesitate (and I'm glad I didn't). The gun isn't a basic platform to tear down and ...rebuild. It comes complete with Bravo Co. furniture, high quality iron sights, and a very crisp, nickel boron-coated trigger. Even the hard-sided case it comes in is top notch. I highly recommend this gun not only to beginners, but to anyone looking to step up a notch in the quality of their rifle. more

this AR is the bee's knees at a price that smokes the others the quality is great the rifle is accurate to a 1/2" @ 400 and that's the only range available to me put an swfa 10x scope which is a great scope. its light we...ight and very durable (the gun that is) I recommend this AR over all the others that are twice the price. more

I purchased a new SA "Saint" rifle back in February. I've always been impressed with the quality of SA pistols and own several of their 9mm and .45 acp 1911 pistols. After reading the informative article about the new "S...aint" in the January 2017 issue of the "American Rifleman" magazine I decided to purchase my first AR rifle. I was deciding between the SA and the Ruger SR-556. I decided to swap out the OEM "GI-Style" single stage trigger group (not that it isn't a good trigger) with a Timney "Targa" 2 stage trigger assy. (I really like a 2 stage trigger over a single stage), added a Nikon P223 3x9 BDC AR scope w/ Burris P.E.R.P. scope mount and a new Bravo Co. medium sized charging handle to accommodate the scope. I haven't had a chance to put my new rifle thru it's paces due to continued winter weather and personal illness. Looking forward to some good shooting time with a quality built (tweaked to my specifications) SA "Saint" rifle in the near future. more
