Taurus PT 1911 Pistol came when promised. Operates and shoots great. Sights are lousy. Tiny metric setscrew and dovetails milled too large. Shot 10 rounds and front sight was loose. Set screw would not tighten. There is ...a hole for the setscrew but it is in the middle of dovetail and does not allow drift adjustments and th pistol shot right. 30 rounds and the rear sight was loose. Also would not tighten. CalledTaurus and a nice young lady agreed to ship a new set of sights at no charge. Have not arrived so I tried to tighten dovetail with punch. Almost got it dialed in with Blazers and the front sight came off. Will wait on the new sights and try Lctite. Pistol short stroked a few cheap rounds- probably my shooting grip. Love the pistol- hate the sights. Kinda like my Harbor Freight drill press - great press, needs a better chuck. I more

    Excellent the Perfect handgun!
I bought the firearm on my wish list and I have no regrets. It is easy to disassemble and clean, fires perfectly, sighted in and target is neutralized with precision.

This is one of the best shooting 45s I've fired in a long time! It was just as accurate as match grade 1911s I've shot in the past! I bought a second one for a spare! Highly recommend this one!

For the money its a good buy if you're looking for a reasonable 1911. Seems well built, heft of a solid 1911, nice sights and lots of firepower. Can't go wrong.

Great 1911 at a bargain price
Bought this gun 6 months ago on sale for $449 and got another 10% off plus a $10 in-store coupon for a total of $394! So far I have about 400 rounds both factory and cheapo reloads thru it with no problems except the rea...r sight loosened up and I had to tighten it down. No biggie. This gun is tight with no rattles. But as others have mentioned it is a heavy gun. With an empty magazine according to my kitchen scale it weighs in at 41oz. The only thing I may get worked on is the grip safety. It seems to have a pretty stout spring and starts to get annoying after awhile. Again no biggie for a new $450 1911. Definitely a nice of gun for the money. Thumbs up. more

Great firearm!! My first time owning a 1911 of any kind and I'm in love. Great shot accuracy. Took it to the range for the first time this weekend and it fired with no malfunctions like a well oiled machine.

First off buds was awesome and shipped my gun quick and fast. This was my first online gun purchase and more will follow for sure. Okay I have put 212 rounds though this gun so far. 1st off there is no Taurus bill board ...on the side. 2nd it only comes with 1 magazine. 3rd the gun cycles like a champ. I've put brass, aluminum and steel through it and all ran good, with only 1 malfunction due to limp wristing. 4th the barrel is not stainless steels, didn't realize that till I opened it. The hex key it comes with is too small for the rear sight and two big for the front. My front sight was not centered, but it was an easy fix. It's my first 1911 and i will definitely be customizing it but for the price it's hard to beat. Would buy again for sure! more

took to range today and was thoroughly impressed. u cannot go wrong with this firearm. holds excellent groups using federal 230 gr ball ammo, ran almost every brand but federal along with browning held the tightest group...s by quite a margin but even the worst shots all landed on paper at 30yrds. i reviewd a zillion 1911's befor choosing the pt1911 and hv zero regrets. this is my first 1911 and i feel like this pistol will last for many years.buds is also shipping the new model pt1911 and i have to say it looks awesome without taurus stamp on slide, instead just has logo in black and 1911 stamp on opposite side of slide and is black as well. thanks buds for the best prices and awesome layaway plan. more

Buds is shipping the "newer" PT-1911 design without the big/obnoxious "Taurus" tattooed on the slide. Very nice. This is my first 1911 and, after talking to an owner at a local shop about his great experience with Taurus... PT-1911, will likely be a keeper. First trip to the range did not disappoint. One hundred rounds, no failures, very solid, was on target out of the box. This isn't my first Taurus, and I'm happy to say I've not had any issues with my Taurus pistols. more

Very reliable. Have not had 1 FTF with this in almost 1k rounds. Also has a nice trigger. I put on new grips and upgrades recoil spring to handle heavier loads. So far performs flawless.

    Just enough problems
Bought it two weeks ago at the hot deal price of $449.99 with one magazine. While disassembling the pistol to clean out the shipping grease, and you really need to clean that stuff out if you want it to work, I noticed t...hat the firing pin stop is an extremely tight fit. I had to stick a punch into the hole and hammer it out. Then I had to hammer it back in after cleaning the slide. I'll probably replace it eventually. Put a hundred rounds through it last Wednesday with no malfunctions. Can't say how it shoots because the rear sight worked itself loose, so my rounds were all over the target. Unfortunately, the rear sight set screw did not fall out, as often happens with Taurus pistols. It's stripped. The pistol is down until I get that fixed. Really hope I don't need to send it back. So, while the PT-1911 looks good and fires reliably so far, it has just enough problems to make me wish I'd tried another brand. I give it three stars because it'll get fixed eventually. I don't recommend it to anyone who can't disassemble a 1911 for cleaning and parts replacement. You'll wait forever if you have to send it back to the manufacturer. more

Love the way it feels in the hand
Comfortable gun, very accurate. havent had much range time with it yet, but i put 50 rounds through it with absolutely no issues. Feels great in my hands, being a person with bigger hands this was a big deal for me, and ...incredibly accurate. do have a few cons, but they aren't necessarily deal killers for me. No.1 its Heavy. (duh i know, but heavier than you might expect.) No.2 only comes with the one magazine. (though just about any 1911 magazine fits fine) All in all i would definitely recommend to anyone who asks, and loves the iconic look of the 1911. more

I always wanted a 1911. It was had to choose one with so many on the market. But I got this hand gun. Based on the Taurus wepons I own. I did not go wrong with this purchase from SG. Taurus PT 1911 FS Mine came without the large billboard on the slide much to my delight. Gun feels good and solid. Everything is nice and tight. Just feels good in my hands. Great sight picture. Dead on accurate right ou...t of the case. Smooth trigger with about a 4 lb pull. Really nice case however only came with one mag. Picked up a Mec - Gar mag for 19 dollar shipped as that what came with the gun. I have fired about 400 rds through it both FMJ and JHP and not a single malfunction. Changed out the grips for wood grips and it is a really sharp looking 1911. Its not a Kimber but its not suppose to be. However it shoots and functions just as well as a Kimber. Have no regrets. more

When I decided on the Taurus, most reviews described the fit to be tight (no rattle), and the finish to be gorgeous. The matte finish just seems incomplete. The slide to frame fit seemed tight right out the of the box. B...ut after a good cleaning and removed the thick grease used at the factory, the fit was not nearly as tight, offering a slight rattle even before any ammo was run through it. With the negatives out of the way, I will say that I still find this to be a great value- all off the upgraded options that it comes with, and a decent trigger. I would recommend this firearm, but with the understanding that you're getting a budget, customizable, 1911. more

As always Taurus has a rock solid product and gives a 5 star show. Of the many pistols that I have shot including some very nice name brands this preformed as well as the high dollar ones and better, all around, then most... . As far as an out of the box shooter Taurus is HARD to beat providing a solid tight, pistol that feeds well and smoothly with about any shell that you can put in it. One that can shoot the X's out of your targets with little to no "adjustments" and being a long time Taurus fan I can say that they will keep on doing it day in and day out. more

    A Kimber at 1/3 price
A lot of people purchase this pistol as a base gun and build it up. What most don't understand is that the Brazilian Subsidiary of Taurus invested in all new CNC machines while Colt and other still repair WWII machi...nery. This Taurus is locks-up tightly; eats any sort of ammo I feed it. It shot more consistently than my equivalent Colt and the same as my CDP II. Max. 6-in. groups at 50 ft. Colt was twice as much, Kimber 3 times. $495, out of the box. Most cost-effective .45 1911 available. Above average magazines. more

This has been my "trainer" for the 1911 platform. I put wooden handles on it to give it a more attractive look. I've field stripped it 50 times, and lube it with Militech, a dry lube, heated with a hot hairdryer. Since I...'ve broken it in, it is 100{af6dcbd769c3e95298420f64eba5f2ddab95ff22e4f1df465daacb0512c67c89} reliable. The "blueing" is a little worn, and I've added some idiot scratches of my own. In short, I've learned to love this gun. I carried a 1911 in the military, and now understand what an icon this is. After shooting it, tighten sights and grips. You'll like this gun. more

This is my 5th handgun from Buds very clean and nice to shoot. I usually allow 50 rounds before logging any problems. This pistol did not have any problems no failure to feed, no failure to eject, or any stove pipes. Use...d army 230 grain ball ammo to loosen up the slide, very successful day at the range When I cleaned the pistol I used my micrometer to measure the frame rails and the slide these were within .001 tolerances, used a feeler gauge to measure the frame rail gaps to ensure that they were also in specs everything measured out all within tolerance I did notice some sloppy machining on the upper part of the frame where the hammer fits into the frame ,some light stoning with a Brownells hammer stone cleaned the marks right up and since it did not create any firing difficulties so be it. This is considered one of the nicest 1911s that I own,no matter what the cost most 1911s will always need some loving care to always come though when you pull the trigger. I have 6 of them and I will never buy anything else. From a custom Caspian 1911 to a Girsan 1911. The 1911-45ACP is the only handgun that special ops still use. more

    Great features, quality gun
The PT1911 was an unexpected buy. It makes the seventh 1911 pistol that I own. Went into Academy Sports, did not plan on buying the gun, but found it on sale so I bought it. I was looking for a range gun. So far, at 200 ...rounds with no reliability problems, I am very pleased with the gun. The guide rod has a horse-shoe part that rides on the barrel that was spot welded to the rod. I noticed the spot weld broke so I called Taurus right away. With no questions asked, they expedited me a new guide rod at no expense. I was very happy with their customer service. The features of the pistol are just outstanding, and boy is it fun to shoot at the range. I would recommend it to anyone. I have Colt and Ruger 1911’s, but the PT1911 is easily on par with quality and very well made. the pistol has a very clean appearance with the new subdued roll marks. Very clean. The Novak sights are very accurate and the front grip checking goes a long way toward controlling recoil. It included a high quality case and one magazine, a very well made and highly polished Taurus eight round clip. I found it as nice or nicer than any aftermarket clips I have seen. Well done Taurus! more

    Must Have
The Taurus PT 1911 is a well matched pistol. After 500 rounds breaki in Period the 1911 became very smooth. Academy prices for this side arm are the best I've found. So proud to own a 1911. Seems to me every America...n should have one. more

I'm a Taurus fan and when I decided I wanted a 1911, there was not other place I wanted to look. I own a 709, 738, and two PT111s. All are awesome guns (especially at their price points). Having said that, I'm 90{ab980...61e2f92e66863be98be3e79d6b4a2bd8cb775396c35f539cbf3dc811b10} satisfied. First, the gun as covered in shipping grease (first Taurus I've seen like this). Second, grips are really cheap plastic. I will be replacing those. Trigger is gritty per other review. Finally, finish is pretty weak (already starting to wear). Having got my gripes out of the way, for the price (as usual), it's a great gun. Mechanically, a great gun. Just be prepared for some clean up and I think you'll be happy. more

Great Transaction from Bud's as usual. Before a start promise to read the entire review so you don't miss my true feelings. This is a Great pistol from Taurus. Built well and fit and finish is pretty good. Came with Nova...k sights and no "taurus billboard logo". the pistol i got only has very small Taurus logo on the left rear of the slide and a nice looking 1911 roll mark on the right side. all were gold laser etched and look very clean. Pistol shoots great and I had no issues with the function in the first 200 rounds. I do, however, doubt the claim that they are all meticulously smithed by the "pros" at Taurus. My trigger was a Gritty 8.5 lbs out of the box. I had to strip it to the frame and clean all the shipping grease and polish what I could and obtained a slightly creepy 6 lbs. I put 100 rounds through it and decided to take it to my LGS and let them finish the leaf spring, sear/disconnector and hammer. I now have a very classy metallic blue finish 1911 with a crisp 4.5 lb trigger and some "VZ operator style" grips i picked up on EBAY, all for under $550. IMO thats more than you can ask for. For the money this is a completely acceptable entry to mid level 1911 that I'm sure i will own for a long time. With the trigger work and the upgraded grips i absolutely love this pistol. Just remember that a 1911 is kind of like buying an AR platform rifle. Enter into it knowing that you are going to tweak it, polish it, and add a variety of extra bits and pieces over time to make it your weapon of choice. Don't hesitate on this one, buy it while the price is good. more

    My 5th 1911
I purchased this weapon last year. I immediately took it to the range and put 150 rounds of Federal 230 grn ball ammo through it without a hitch. Very accurate out of the box. I took it back to the range a couple of week...s later and shot 100 rounds of absolutely wretched Russian ammo through it without a jam. This ammo was the nastiest, dirty like mud ammo I have ever found and it performed perfectly except for the rear sight getting a little lose.I have put about 150 rounds a month through this pistol since I purchased it and had only one jam caused by a bad mag. I carried a 1911 on duty for 20 years and carried nothing else off duty throughout my career as a peace officer. I have Colt, Remington and Taurus. I carry the Taurus. I recommend this weapon to everyone. more

Outstanding Pistol- This gun lives up to all the reviews. I bought it after reading all the glowing reviews on it. I inspected it for safety and then fired it right out of the case the way it was delivered. This gun ran... flawlessly through 200 rounds of varying ammo. I shot the cheapest lead ball to the best Hornady I had. Not one malfunction. Right out of the gate I was shooting sub 2 inch groups at 15 yards and rapid fire was exactly that. Nothing hung up or was slow in cycling. I used the Taurus mag that came with it plus Para USA and Chip McCormick Custom mags. All the mags inserted, fed, and dropped out perfectly just as you would expect from a quality 1911. The quality and craftsmanship of this gun is as advertised by Taurus. You could tell the components had been hand fitted together. Everything fit like a glove and there were no hangups or ill fitting parts. The finish was flawless too, not an errant mark on the gun anywhere. This is a lifetime keeper. A beautiful gun. Can's say enough good things about this Taurus. Buds was great to deal with too. The gun shipped immediately when the purchase was complete and I had it in the morning on the 3rd day, right in the middle of all Christmas rush. This is the best price I've found on the gun too. The first of many I'll be buying from Buds. more

    Best bang for the buck!
I did a lot of research on this gun before I bought it. It stands to be reliable throughout the years of use without malfunctions or misfires. For the price, you get all the bells and whistles that of different 1911'...;s which cost twice as much if not more. This gun is just as accurate as any other 1911. Taurus did a spectacular job with this gun, highly recommended! Feels great and built solid. You won't regret purchasing this gun, that's for sure!! more

So I received my Taurus PT 1911 today. It came in a decent amount of time as usual. But I will say this it was dirty dirty dirty. This by the way is my first 1911 and I will say I do like it. It has a nice weight to it n...ot heavy at all like some people say 1911's are nice tight construction too little to no wiggle or slop I guess so.e people say. I haven't shot it yet so no comments there. But its a pretty nice looking piece I must say I'm not a 1911 fan but this won me over. So I recommend you all try it out. more

Finish is above average. There are a few machining marks, but nothing that disturbs functionality. Fit and finish are more than acceptable. I have run a few hundred rounds through the gun. The ammo represented a variety ...of manufactures, loads, steel & brass. Honestly, some of the ammo was pretty rough. It has cycled every single one, without a FTF or FTE. This is what a 1911 is supposed to do. I seriously doubt that my Colt 1911 Series 70 could function as well. Recently it was disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Nothing out of the ordinary to report. I like this handgun. It was great value for the price paid. more

bought this during the summer blowout sale. nice looking pistol and it came in the taurus box with one ACT mag. full length one piece guide rod and a take down wrench made of nylon. mine had the taurus billboard slide. w...as hoping for a plain one. at first glance the pistol looked fine. a trip to the range showed the pistol was not quite as good as it looked. the first issue was the barrel bushing it was very loose fitting as the slide slot was machined a hair too big causing the bushing to move forward as much as 2mm. the trigger pull on this example seemed OK at first --but after firing a few rounds it seemed to get very hard-- the firing pin stop was froze to the slide--LOL the slide to frame fit had a small amount of slop in it-- nothing major but enough to notice if you looked hard. the safety hole in the frame is also a tiny bit too big when the in the safe position showing a bit of exposed hole when on safe. it had some problems feeding JHPs too. nothing wrong with the taurus plastic grips but i replaced them with some cocobolos, a change to a wilson hammer and sear solved the trigger problem. the frame seems to very good with the exception being the JHPs . after the tune up is has been 100{dfa74769c50856090fe52ca2f44628a2d60f9e7515c30f16ac30a1005b6b2444} reliable with FMJs it seems to be very accurate. put in a new oversized barrel bushing solved the walking out problem-- a little polish on the ramp may fix the problem with the JHPs as it is very close to working with them.. i thought the double safety might be a problem but i have grown to like it. the grip safety fits and functions perfectly. be aware these are series 80s. with extra safety things like plungers and levers. the one i got really wouldn't do a first time 1911 owner. too many little problem areas. they may not all be like the one i got so YMMV. for what this sold for though i have no complaints as the pistol is mostly a in spec 1911 --the only thing being the trigger has a smaller bow than a regular 1911 has --but if you have done the 1911 thing for a while your going to be pretty comfortable working with the PT1911. and all i have spent was $30 for the grips , the rest came from my spares box and this is one sweet shooter now-- now it shoots like a expensive 1911 with a big name , trigger smooth as sild and the thing cycles perfectly--the taurus barrel seems ver accurate and hits to POI and is dead on with the sights. -- and i barely got a bit over 4 bills in it. in spite of a few issues i can't complain!! more

The PT1911fs, at the time I ordered it, was way too good a price to pass up. Even at it's regular discounted price, I feel it's an excellent gun. To my surprise, it came with a nice hard plastic case. I was expecting a c...ardboard box. It came with only one magazine, as was described in the specs. I believe the only things that separate the fs from the more expensive PT1911's is that it comes with one mag instead of two, and the finish is bare bones. The finish is matte, and doesn't look bad on this style of gun, but there were a few scuffs on mine, some of them conspicuous. Nothing major, didn't bother me, but I could see that some people buying the gun at a higher price ($500 ) might be a little disappointed. On the other hand, the scuffs may be why the price was cheap, which is fine with me. It has worked flawlessly for the first 50 rounds. Very smooth, and as accurate as I allowed it to be. I can see why the 1911 format is so popular. I expect that it will be a nice gun to shoot over the years. The Taurus magazine worked great, but the Chip McCormack mag that I bought as a second mag didn't work at all. Wouldn't even load the first round. Interesting, because I've only heard good things about those mags and they're supposed to work well in Taurus 1911's. Maybe it just needs adjustment. If not, I'll order another Taurus mag. So the gun is great and I would recommend it very much, based on my experiences. more

Usually, I'm not a huge fan of Taurus semi-auto handguns, but I got this from Bud's on sale for a pretty great price. Out of the box, I was little bummed that it only came with one magazine, but for the price that I paid... for the gun,I couldn't be too upset. There was some grease on the gun, which is to be expected, but not as bad as I thought it would be. After field stripping it, giving it a good cleaning and oiling, I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the action is on this gun. When I took it to the range, I liked it even more. The recoil isn't as bad as I've had on other 1911s. Plus, this gun is extremely accurate. No site adjustments needed out of the box. I put 150 rounds of reloaded brass through it, not one single issue. Granted, this gun isn't as pretty as Sigs, Kimbers, Colts, and the high end Springfields or Smith & Wessons. But if you're looking for reliable, straight forward, no nonsense 1911, I high recommend the PT1911. more

This is the first pistol that I've owned. The gun comes in a good case and one magazine. After I got, field stripped it and cleaned all the excessive "new gun" lubricant off, I took it to the range. I put 100 rounds thro...ugh it with out any problem. The only problem that I had with it, is you have to push the magazine up really hard to get it to lock in. Its really not that big of an issue once you know. A few days later I took it out again, and put another 100 rounds through it. I did have one jam, the eighth round not feeding properly, other than that no problems. I'm pretty pleased with this purchase. more

Great firearm and that price can't be beat either. I gave it 4 out of 5 because of the fact that it does fail to extract live rounds from the chamber. They jam up the slide. However this is not a problem if your using th...e gun for self or home defense as it will only be extracting the cartridges. The finish is good. The only thing I was dissapointed in was the grips. They're plastic and do not belong on a 1911. Easily remedied though with wooden grips. The gun is very accurate. more

I'm a first time firearm owner so this review is going to be through the eyes of a total newbie. First off, budsgunshop was awesome. I had some strange issues with shipping and buds was awesome. The customer service rep.... I talked to (patrick, I think) was amazing. The PT1911 came as advertised. The day I picked it up I put 24 rounds of CCI Blazer 230 grain FMJ ammo through it without a problem. It's fun to shoot and I'm guessing will serve me for years to come. Thankfully, I have a friend that owns a springfield armory 1911 and has shot a bunch of different models including some of the higher end custom brands. His immediate criticisms were as follows: 1.) the firearm was covered in a type of oil he said was known for causing issues. Upon further research it seems to be a rust preventitive. He called it something specific, I just don't remember what it's called. Anyway, he cleaned it up and used some hoppes elite on it. Looked much better. :) 2.) He said the slide had a lot of wiggle. Not too much, but it was more than what the premium 1911s come with. From what I've researched, it shouldn't be a problem with what I'd consider to be a normal amount. 3.) He also wasn't a big fan of the trigger. He said it felt too rough. My newbie observations: 1.) The ONE magazine it comes with does seem to be of good quality. 2.) Out of the box, it was what I consider to be accurate as I had no issues placing rounds near or on top of other shots. This was the first .45 ACP firearm I've ever fired so I felt that was pretty impressive, even if it was only about 12 yards. 3.) I'm not a huge fan of the "blued" matte black look. It seems to scuff pretty easily and just isn't very attractive. It's a minor complaint considering it's reliability placing and firing a .45 round is all that matters really. It seems to shoot really well and is real joy to take to the range. My only major complaint is that .45 acp ammunition isn't cheap and I don't have near enough time to take it out! more

Also the price of the gun dropped by 40.00 Dol...lars and the buysafe guarantee kicked in. I paid 399.00 after all was said and done. Looked a the same gun at a gun shop and I got a steal. Awesome gun for the money. This is my 1st 1911 and I did not want to spend a lot of money. I was not super happy about my 1st 1911 not being American made. I think this is a well made gun. I replaced the plastic grips wi...th Hogue. Then put about 250 through it. I did not have time to go to the range so I shot on a buddys land down in the woods, in a valley. It seemed fitting to shot my 1st 1911 that way. The gun performed well. I did have two jams while performing a double tap. Both jams happen with McCormick clips, so it could of been the clips or the ammo. I was somewhat accurate with about 5 inch groupings. I could not double tap with any accuracy on the 2nd shot. For this kinds of money, this gun is unmatched. I am really happy I bought this gun. more

Bud's was great as always. Awesome price and painless purchasing process. The PT1911 arrived in great condition, exactly as described. Took it home and fully cleaned it and headed to the range. First the trigger pull is q...uite gritty and unmeasurable on my trigger scale. Also the supplied magazine has a weak spring and will not lock back the slide after the last round is fired. Shame because if you fight the trigger and manage to keep the sights on target this gun is quite accurate. This gun is definitely worth the $399.00 I paid for it. After a little tweaking and tuning this will turn into a pretty good pistol. more

Or maybe its sapposed to be this way on the FS model . Shows it on the Taurus website catalog for this model . Pick another manufacture !
I purchased this gun last year Fathers day, I fed only 300 rounds thru it before something broke internally, I sent the gun to Miami for repairs, this took about 3 weeks. The repair done to the gun was the replacement of... a safety, I took the gun to the range and fired two magazines thru it without any problems but when I racked the first round of the third mag , the gun broke again with the same problem. I returned the gun again to Miami and it sat for seven weeks waiting for a slide to be shipped from Brazil. I called at least 10 times trying to get some idea on how long it was going to take and no one had a clue. I told them I was tired of waiting and Taurus agreed to send me a replacement gun. I received this gun three weeks later, it was one of the new 2014 additions and I like it much better. First thing I noticed that there was a dent in the frame just below the trigger and the rear sight was almost hanging off the right side of the slide. I decided to try it out and see if it shot ok, the gun was quite accurate and had no feeding issues. When I field stripped the gun to clean it up, I noticed a chip in the breach face from the barrel making contact. I sent pictures to Taurus and they were reviewed and was told this was normal, I did not like the decision so decided to email the CEO and send him the pictures. I received a call within the hour and was asked to sent it back for review. The gun sat in Miami for four week under review before I again called and asked what was going on, fix my gun or send me another. I was told another gun was being sent to my gun dealer on May 10, , I called ten days later and was told the same thing, this went on for another four weeks until I called the CEO again. I should receive my replacement gun Thursday. Their CS is the worst in the industry. more

Bought it two weeks ago at the hot deal price of $449.99 with one magazine. You'll wait forever if you have to send it back to the manufacturer. more

I purchased a Taurus 1911 almost 5 years ago, and it was an amazing pistol. Never had a single issue with it. It fed any ammo without a single feed problem. These pistols are a different story. The fit and finish aren't ...nearly as nice. My guns (I ordered two) have numerous burrs and machining marks left on them, and although I haven't fired them yet, neither chambers or extracts loaded rounds well. I'm disappointed in the decrease in quality. BOTTOM LINE: These aren't the same Taurus 1911's that have great reviews in gun magazines and across the internet. more

Sending Back to Taurus strait out the box. Wont feed. Get what you pay for when you buy a taurus.

My first 1911, this has become my new favorite carry weapon. Finish seems a bit thin but an overall great firearm. Bud's service was excellent - timely status updates provided and quick shipping.

Ive owned a lot of guns in my time. Several 1911's. Including a Taurus just like this one. I bought a number of years ago when they first came out. It was a fine weapon. This one not so much. I am an experienced 1911 ope...rator and have worked on numerous guns throughout the years. I have to say that this is possibly the worst example of a 1911 I have ever seen. The monkeys who put it together used some heavy handed tactics and very little skill. There is nothing that cant be fixed but frankly who wants to do that to a new gun. I truly hoped that this one would be as nice as the original but unfortunately It wont be even close. more

    Great price and awesome quality
I also own the pt 92AF and just like the 92 the 1911 is built very nice, honestly not a single complaint with the 1911 so far. The 92 started dropping the mags every 3rd or so round. Right at exactly 4 weeks from the day... I shipped it to Taurus to it being back in my hands and they even replaced the slide for a front sight dot drill a mm or 2 off center. Taurus mags are at best ok ish, the 1911's mag has a metal follower and you can feel the friction. I immediately bought a Mecgar and Wilson Combat mag for it and it runs like a diesel motor.. Forever... Reliable feeding with HP's as well. The factory grips are like cheese graters they will leave your hand a little raw. Id suggest some hogue rubber grips for it. more

Excellent weapon for the price and it certainly includes a lot of the features a $1,200 top of the line 1911 will have, this is a great deal!. As any weapon from Taurus, it comes with a really thick protective grease. Th...en, you need to completely clean off before you shoot for the first time. Took it to the range, after a good clean and it performed flawlessly, I'm extremely happy with my PT1911. As usual, you can't beat Buds on service and price! Thank you guys. more

    Solid, dependable workhorse.
Bought it a few years ago, and feel this is a best buy especially when compared to the top 1911 makers. It hits what I point at, and shoots when I pull the bang switch. Not finickey and eats anything I feed him. If you l...ong for a 1911 thats a great deal with all the extras at a great price, here you go Airborne! more

This is the second PT1911 I have owned. This gun has fired 100 rounds without any failures. All workings are crisp and all surfaces seem well finished. The only complaint I have with it is the trigger is very heavy. I ad...justed on the spring some and it helped some. It was around a 10 pound pull and is now down to 6 or 7 pounds. I have no clue what is causing this extreme trigger pull. I will let someone else do some more in depth finishing of the trigger or just replace it. The other PT1911 I owned had a great trigger. For the money I still think these are hard to beat. It shipped fast. more

Taurus 1911 - with one magazine and case. I wanted a 1911 with the extra features without the price tag. I GOT IT!!! Took the gun to the range and it performed flawlessly. Picked up an extra magazine to go with it and I ...am very happy. This was my first purchase from Bud's and I have to say it won't be my last. more
