    Great Pistol
I own two of these pistols and have never had a single problem with either one of them. I also own a Ruger LCP2. The Taurus has a much better trigger, has smoother edges and is thinner. I love the TCP.

Excellent pistol for concealed carry in hot weather. Light and small. Put 200 rounds through it the first day without a problem (both JHP and FMJ). Very accurate at 20 feet.

Opinions are like raindrops and are as numerous. My opinion is this gun is the best for concealed carry. I have it in a "Sticky Holster" and carry it in my right front pocket. Absolutely concealed. The sticky holster pre...vents "printing" and is also great for use in a purse. One of the primary reasons I bought this gun is the lack of external safety as the only safety on a gun is the loose nut behind the trigger. Great firearm for concealment. more

    One shot wonder
Hand charge the first shot and it misfeeds all the next shots in the mag. Pretty much useless as anything but a single shot pistol.

The transaction with my Taurus 738 was as usual exceptional. I like the layaway program. Just took the Taurus 738 TCP out today and shot 150 rounds without a jam. Nice little gun it's a conceal carry for sure and will ta...ke some range time as the sights a very small. I bout a Houge grip for it which made it fun to shoot. more

I've had this gun for about three weeks. I've put 300 rounds through it and I haven't had any problems. I love the conceal carry size and the ease of operating the slide. It's a great little carry gun and it's fun at the... range also. Break down and cleaning are a breeze, actually kind of fun. Go for it... Joe Blackwell more

Poor quality control - Decent trigger
I have mixed feelings about the TCP. On one hand it fits nice in the hand and conceals very easily. Reliability has been sketchy, however. Mine had issues out of the box. The feed ramp and a few other spots on the barrel... were machined poorly. The feed ramp in particular had a divot on it that would scratch a deep cut into the rim of any cartridge fed into it. The weapon would routinely have rounds jam on the feed ramp (both FMJ and HP). more

Below entry level... Bought this with the hopes I would get my wife to shoot at the range (still waiting). I was expecting a somewhat accurate little gun since the barrel is almost flush to the sight. I was wrong. To mak...e it worse the magazine keeps failing to feed causing jams. I do not recommend. more

I wanted a good pocket pistol for concealed carry in the summer/backup gun, and this gun fit the bill. It{14f7dcaa410f4955a29dadccee14bd0b3dbe47045a3827cbf9b0f0ec96936107}u2019s perfect for concealed carry due to the siz...e and it fits most pockets, but I would avoid front jean pockets. Due to the size of the pistol I added a grip extension so I could get my pinky on it for better control. When I took it to the range for the first time (uncleaned) it fired smoothly and it has more of a kick than you{14f7dcaa410f4955a29dadccee14bd0b3dbe47045a3827cbf9b0f0ec96936107}u2019d expect so adding the grip extension was a good idea. I ran 100 rounds through it and the only issue I had was FTE on the 98th round, so for the first time around I give it an A-. Overall I{14f7dcaa410f4955a29dadccee14bd0b3dbe47045a3827cbf9b0f0ec96936107}u2019m pleased with the purchase, buds delivered it to my FFL in a timely fashion, and I had no issues with payments or receiving the gun. more

This is an excellent firearm. I enjoy conceal carry with this more than I did the Ruger LCP I used to carry. Both are excellent and reliable, however this "feels" less noticeable in my waistband in terms of less printing... and comfort for me. I've fired 100 rounds through it with no malfunctions. Good accuracy for me out to about 15-25 feet knocking down tin cans at a friends range. Taurus is making some great firearms right now. Buds is always easy to work with and offers great prices. Dissapointed with this pistol
I purchased this pistol as a summer pocket pistol. Price was an object in my decision which I now regret. The pistol is small and light which are positive features of the weapon but when I first test fired the pistol I g...ot off only one round as the firing pin/striker would not hold a full cocked position to fire the next round. I returned the pistol to the factory and upon return it fires reliably. Accuracy is very good at 10 yards but you have to do your part, the sights are small as is the grip. This along with a long stiff trigger pull makes it a pistol you need to practice with a lot to be proficient enough to depend on it for self defense. In doing my own target practice with the pistol in less than 50 rounds the take down pin slid most of the way out. I still have the pistol as it has little trade in value but you should spend the money and buy one of the Rugers. more

I ordered this 380 Taurus back in December 2017 from Buds .Well today 1/17/18, I took it to the range and put 50 rounds thru it.Well my 1st 20 rounds, I had 2 FTE, and FTF. Well after about 20-25 rounds,I had no issues. ...This Taurus 380 has a little kick to it, but what do you expect from a small Cal. Pistol. The accuracy was right on. My 1st 5 rounds was grouped ,but it was grouped low. After finding my sweet spot, I nailed my target. Once again ,another great purchase from Buds, and the best part about it.........Grrrreat Price. So if you're looking for a small pocket pistol that is very dependable, give this gun a try. You will like it. Good job Buds more

Highly recommend this pistol. Only caveat would be to use brass cased ammo.Have put hundreds of brass cased round through it with no issues. Have had 2 or 3 FTE's with steel case ammo in maybe 200 rounds. It may be getti...ng broke in since I put several mags of the steel case ammo through it without issue last time at range. In any event, your defensive ammo is going to be brass cased hollow points, and with that it is highly reliable. Not a ton of fun to shoot since its tiny, but it is accurate. Trigger is OK, and to me, if you shoot a gun enough you are going to get used to the trigger. Take down and cleaning is simple. Very impressed with this little pistol. more

I am so disappointed with this pistol. I really wanted to like it, but it's essentially a single-shot derringer. Its been back to the factory, but still has many FTF errors with multiple types of ammo. It will not make i...t through a full mag. Unreliable firearm, unhelpful customer service.
Purchased October 2017. After a good cleaning, took it to the range. The gun failed to extract at least once per mag with 7 types of ammo. Went home, cleaned it again, polished the feed ramp, but still had a lousy perfor...mance at the range. Taurus customer service asked me to mail it in. They've had my gun for three weeks and haven't even started working on it. Customer service employees are rude and hold times are long. I spoke with a manager Tammy who was no better. Asked for a call back from her supervisor Jamie and have not heard back in 3 business days. The gun also had issues with the disassembly pin popping out when firing and magazine dropping out when firing. I would not recommend this gun and intend to sell it when and if I get it back from Taurus. Cabela's should at least offer an exchange on firearms if they are going to sell a garbage product. more

Say what you will about Taurus. Love them or hate them. But this little .380 adds options to my repertoire of concealed carry handguns. I put 100 rounds through her at the range after receiving it, with zero malfunctions.... I'll put several hundred more through it in the coming weeks. It's small, lightweight, and doesn't have anything that hangs up or snags in conjunction with my concealed carry options. more

    Had for years, no failures...
Bought this gun a little over three years ago. Added a laser and bought a couple holsters and carry it all the time. It has a little over a thousand rounds through it (not a range gun so it gets 100 rounds at the range e...very few months or so) and I've never had a single failure with any ammo. I even leave all the pocket lint and stuff in it (collected from months of pocket carrying) when I shoot it and that's never caused a failure. I have nothing bad to say about this gun. more

    Thumbs Down
I like the small size but I have fired this gun less than 50 times and now it is jamming every single shot. It is very frustrating when the slide jams with such frequency that it is undependable. I really am disappointed... what do you expect for such a cheap price. DO yourself a favor and spend a little more and purchase something that "if needed" you can rely upon. I would hate to think that I pulled a gun to defend myself or family and it didn't fire. I personally thought it was a faulty magazine but I have tried three separate magazines and the same result. JAM JAM JAM. I DO NOT recommend buying this gun for personal protection!!!!!!! more

FTE after FTE. I personally like taurus firearms, accept the 709 slim and this one, the 738 tcp. It wasn't ammunition because it had the same failure with JCP AND practice ammunition, the gun wasn't accessively dirty, an...d it had been "broken in" on the previous range trip with about 200 rounds. It wasn't a magazine issue because I had three different magazines with all the same failure, and it wasn't limp writing because I intentionally put more of a firm grip while firing than usual and still got the FTE. unless you want it for the price, and don't mind only being able to use the first maybe two shots I would stay away. Maybe mine was defective. more

Bought one of these online in July of this year and picked it up at the Bud's. I have owned several of the mouse guns and this one seems to be as good as the Ruger LCP and the Kel-tec 380. I have had one of these several... years ago and sold it to a friend who still has it. he loves it. I like the slide lock on the Taurus and the ease of takedown maybe a little better than the others. This little gun shoots great and I have never had a ftf. or a fte with hardball ammo, haven't tried hollow points yet. If you need a small pocket gun that is light and dependable then you might consider the Taurus 380. you can't beat the price and the warranty. I am totally pleased with this purchase. Took this gun to the range today and fired 100 rounds with no problems. Surprised at small amount of recoil for such a small gun. Sights are small, but dead on. Perfect for a "Sum...mer attire" pocket gun. Most gunfights take place between 3 & 8 feet and last only a few seconds. This gun fits that mission perfectly. I was in the market for a pocket pistol for summer carry and deep concealment. I knew I didn't want to go less than .380, but wasn't exactly set on a .380. I ran through a bunch of local stores, and watched a ton of revi...ews before buying, and ended up going with the TCP. The only thing I wish I had done differently would have been to go with the next model up with the stainless steel slide. The alloy slide on this is not a problem by any means, but in my mind it will need more care. Fortunately for me I maintain my guns. After getting the pistol, I proceeded to put some rounds down range and I was impressed. The trigger pull is LONG, but smooth and crisp. It doesn't seem any longer than it's counter parts such as the LCP and bodyguard, and I'd argue it is a bit smoother than the LCP. I had no malfunctions, and to my surprise, it was no where near as snappy as the reviews I had seen seemed to imply. Quite to the contrary, it shot smoothly and relatively flat. Maybe this is because I shoot a compact .40 on a regular basis, but it really is a pleasure to shoot. Size wise, it literally fits in the palm of my hand, and is no thicker than my wallet. With a pocket holster it looks like I'm carrying a 2nd wallet when it's in my back pocket. All in all, I'm really pleased with the pistol. more

I picked up my ACP. I wasn't expecting perfection from a Taurus, but the finish of this gun was worse than I expected. It has very clear and obvious scratches on both sides of the slide. I know it wasn't my FFL, because... I watched him open the mail package, and I opened up the gun box and spotted the scratches. What I do like about this gun is that it can easily be dropped into a pocket holster and taken anywhere with ease. It is SMALL, and that's what I was looking for. more

Very nice gun compared to close competition, and I like it a lot except mine is not reliable. Far better trigger than any of the polymer 380's I have tried. Easy to shoot and seems very durable. My gun has been and conti...nues to be problematic. Originally it would not chamber the last round in the magazine and would jam with the slide half open. If was difficult to remove the round, but often I could beat the slide closed with the palm of my hand and then fire it. It would jam about 5{471342c87c94ce724415987e805fcba22639e830ccf6ddbe35f8eff30522d3bd} of the time otherwise. Also the spent casings were always bent and when I ejected the unfired rounds, the top of the bullets were gouged. Taurus agreed to have me ship them the gun, and they made some repairs. It appears that they polished the slide and trimmed back the slide lock open tab. I suggested that the extractor pin locked bent but they decided not to do anything about it. The gun ejects the casings straight up into the air and they come down on my head - it does not eject then to the right as most guns do, though the extractor is on the right side and should pull then that way. The repair took eight weeks, which is about 4 times longer than other warranty repair I made with 3 other manufacturers - and I do not believe it was really fixed, but they did pay the shipping and made an effort - so that is something. Before I sent the gun in for repair it was very inaccurate - 20" groups at 10 yards inaccurate. I believe the bullets were being damaged in chambering the round and this was affecting trajectory. When it was returned the accuracy was fine, 3-4" groups at 10 yards which is as good as I am, so they did make an improvement. I could overlook the casings hitting me in the head, if the gun were reliable, but mine is not, even after being repaired. It jammed 3 times in shooting 80 rounds since being repaired - which is unacceptable to use as my CCW as I hoped. The rounds were brass cased FMJ round nose factory loads, nothing that would be difficult to feed. I would tend to suspect I was just unlucky as I cannot find complaints exactly like the problems I am having on the internet. Maybe Taurus will send me an extractor and let me replace it myself, as I think that is probably the problem with my gun. But I really am disenchanted with the entire experience with this gun and Taurus CS is not the easiest to work with. more

A disappointing purchase. After breaking in the gun with the 350 rounds of different types of quality ammo (all around 95 gr), I can report numerous failure to feed, fire and eject issues. Summer is coming and I wanted a small (micro) gun for CC.I know this caliber has been considered marginal by some but new defense ammo makes it worth consideration especially if wardrobe makes you think of not carrying a...t all. I bought a Bersa Thunder 380CC which is an incredible bargain for a great gun. Left me enough money left over.to get the tiny Taurus TCPas well! I wanted something really small and looked at bot KelTec and Ruger LCP. Two features the Taurus has made the difference for me. It has a slide lock and the slide locks after final round. Even on a small gun like this, I can't imagine fiddling around racking the slide to change magazine! Been to the range twice shooting Magtech FMJ, Liberty Civil defense and PolyCase APX with no problems. The grip is small even for my small hands but ii's easy to adjust to. I used a paint pen to enhance the tiny sights. Accurate at defense distance, comfortable to carry, and can conceal easy in a pocket holster. Surprising low recoil for such a tiny gun. Love the gun and Buds got it to me in one week. What more can you ask. - See more at: https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/13692#sthash.foZ9p4ZD.dpuf more

    DO NOT BUY THIS!
This is junk. I gave it all the second, third, forth & more chances i could.I had ejection problems at first and Taurus sent me parts and I had a local gunsmith install them and it will eject some rounds, but it still ...jams constantly.I have bought over $400 dollars worth of ammo trying to find some that it would feed and eject and it still is unreliable. The paper weight of a gun is so bad i do not have the heart to sell it to anyone or even trade it in for something different because I do not want someone to buy it and think it will protect their life. This Gun is cheap junk and I can't believe Cabelas is still selling it. Someone from the company should contact me and i will turn it into to them as long as they promise to have it destroyed because none should trust this firearm to save their life. I ended up buying a higher dollar pistol from Cabelas and now have something to protect me and my family. more

This is my second pt738, the first one, a B series had feeding problems until I widened and polished the feed ramp. I traded it for a S&W revolver. I missed not having a pocket pistol, so at $175.00 I got another and onc...e took the Taurus gamble. To my surprise the D series seems to be more refined. I still widened and polished the feed ramp. on round 20 the slide jammed open, I smacked the gun back into battery and kept shooting problem free. 150 rounds. today was round 2, I fired another 100 round of 90 gr perfecta ammo trouble free. 250 rounds 1 hick up, not bad. When I came home I field stripped It and noticed VERY little wear on the rails. Taurus has REFINED this little beauty. I'm gonna keep this one. Oh yeah, Buds was Great, BIG surprise. more

I'm a dealer and sell more Taurus PT111 G2's than anything else. They've all been quite flawless, with triggers varying between very good and unbelievable - I never have to touch them. I bought the 738TCP for my granddau...ghter, expecting the same quality, but was disappointed by the condition in which it arrived. The slide release was a crude stamping with a huge burr on the edge that bears against the slide, so it was impossible to disengage. I had to file the burr off (with some effort, since it was hardened) and stone it smooth before it would work. Also, the magazine which is supposed to hold 6 rounds would only accept 5 at first, even after I lubricated the follower. When I finally succeeded in getting 6 rounds into it at the range (using a Maglula loader), the spring bound up and the gun was useless. I had to cut 2 coils off the spring before the magazine functioned properly. Both these problems were probably due to a failure to adequately monitor parts providers. A common issue with these little blowback-operated pistols is that, in an effort to minimize overall weight, the slide is made as light as possible - so the recoil spring needs to be extremely stiff. Neither my wife nor my granddaughter could succeed in racking the slide (but men didn't even notice this issue!). A slightly heavier slide would have allowed the use of a weaker recoil spring. The GOOD news is, when the gun was put into proper working order, it worked flawlessly and the accuracy was outstanding. My EDC is a Sig P938, which uses a locked-breech recoil system and consequently has a very soft recoil spring. I decided to get a P238, the .380 version of that gun, for my granddaughter. Of course, it costs 3x as much as the Taurus, but she loves it. more

One of the best pocket 380's for the price. I have put a couple hundred rounds through this gun without a single malfunction. It has a smooth trigger pull room for 2 fingers on the grip, and seems to be very accurate. So...me problems with the gun are the small sights and a false trigger reset. Now on most false trigger resets you can't pull the trigger and drop the hammer. But on the TCP you can. It is not true DOA because the slide must be cycled to re-engage the trigger. When you pull the trigger on the false reset it will fire sometimes but most of the time just give you a light strike. more

Did not fill in my contact information correctly, buds customer service was very helpful getting the correct information and moving my order along. Gun did come with some surface rust on the barrel, which I want to happy... about. Nothing a little fine steel wool couldn't clean up. The gun itself is surprisingly accurate for it's side and minimal sights. The magazine stop does have to be filed down slightly or rounds will contact it resulting in the slide loving back with a round or rounds in the magazine. Overall I do like this gun and it has not had any malfunctions since taking the slightest amount of excess metal off of the slide release. more

I own both the Taurus TCP 380 and the Ruger LCP 380. From what I understand, the LCP was modeled after the TCP, and they are both very similar. While I like the look of the Ruger slightly better, I think the Taurus is ea...sier to shoot and feels better in my hand. The Ruger tended to hurt my trigger finger a bit until I added the Hogue 8100 grip (highly recommended). At the end of the day, the Taurus was cheaper and with the added finger clip extension and Pachmayr grip this will be my every day carry gun. Brand new - jams last round of EVERY magazine
Purchased this as a pocket pistol (all my other pistols are just to big). Have had Taurus' in the past in larger versions and never really had any problems with them. This one is unreal..... Cleaned and lubed it per reco...mmendations before the first firing. Took it to the range and fired 6 fully loaded magazines and several partially loaded mags (various numbers of rounds). On EVERY MAGAZINE fired, the last bullet jammed the slide in the partially open position. The rounds were the recommended type and weight so it wasn't the ammo. The internet says to either polish the ramp or use a pliers on the mag's ears. Will try these ideas next time. If no luck, this thing goes. What good is a CC pistol that jams? more

It's only been four mags worth so far but I couldn't get thru one previously. Great pocket gun.
I got this gun for cc during the warmer months. Compared to a lot of the other 380's it feels good in my hands. I have to say for a pocket gun it's recoil is not bad. I have put around 300 rounds through it without any i...ssues. I've used cheap rounds to high quality and hollow points and it took them all. It's very easy to field strip for cleaning. One thing I really like about this gun is the slide stays locked back after the clip is empty. My wife can even handle the recoil on this gun and she's pretty picky when it comes to that. I did have my daughter put bright fingernail polish on the front sight which helps it stand out. I really like the trigger on this gun as well. Has a nice pull to it. It's a pretty accurate gun for a pocket gun. I highly recommend this gun. Can't beat the price either. more

First purchase through Buds, easy transaction. The Taurus TCP is as described, & the reviews seen on other sights are pretty much on target. The pistol has shot with out failure using 3 different ammo brands. This can be ...concealed easily, it is so small I can cover it with my hand. The sights are difficult to pick up, I plan to add some color to them. Also the barrel & slide have some play, don't expect a tight fit. Mags are easy to load, although the10 round mag would not feed. Check out Hickok45 video on this Taurus 380. more

Great Price! The price point was the main thing for a concealed carry firearm that is reliable. I don't think for $185 you could find a better pistol. I just picked the Taurus 738 TCP from my local ffl dealer. I haven't ...shot the firearm yet but will in the next week or so. The gun is very small which is a plus but with large hands like myself Ican barely get two fingers around it. I also bought a tactical grip for it that will be home delivered this week. I would recommend buying this to anyone who buys this pistol since both me and my fiance will have one. The other thing I plan on buying is the magazine extender to allow for a extra finger while firing. The reviews I have read before buying the pistol we're biased on either a magazine problem which isn't a big deal & not being able to fire the weapon. I hope those few people knew how to properly clean the firearm before firing. (Hint) "There shipped with packing grease and have been test fired so a good cleaning and CLP makes wonders. I have also read on here also about the feed ramp may need polishing but other than that it is a sound little pistol fo ra great price. Nothing a few hundred rounds can't do to break the pistol in and it will be reliable and polish the inside. I will reply with my thoughts on the gun whenever I send some rounds thru it. Thank you Buds for a great priced firearm! I will be buying a Mossberg Maverick 88 next here soon! more

Speedy shipping! Great little pistol. Grab one of these while they last at this price. First day we disassembled and cleaned, then hit the range. Performance was as expected at close range for this type of pistol - very... accurate when handled properly. Absolutely no issues with FTF during break in with range grade ammo. Drew interest from range attendant when they could not identify the make/model. Got the impression they were going to buy one for themselves right away after checking ours out. It is a nice looking weapon as these things go. Weapon was suitable for a lady and those with weaker hands. For a man with large hands the grip is such that you can fire the pistol easily so that you don't get "bit" when the slide action moves back on firing. I've had issues with the Beretta's where the slide is so close to the grip you almost can't avoid it. Very pleased with purchase and would highly recommend to anyone looking for this type of weapon. more

After so many positive reviews I decided to buy a Taurus TCP 738 over its competitors. I guess my expectation was too high this being my first Taurus. Buds shipped the gun very fast and I am very happy with their price a...nd service however during my first day at the range with TCP I noticed the factory Taurus magazine and a promag kept falling off after the first shot. I thought I was accidentally pushing on the mag release as I was firing but it was not the case since I tried shooting with my thumb on the slide stop to see if it is the case. I even try wiggling the magazine while it is sitting in the gun and it turns out both the factory magazine and the promag were so poorly retained in the magazine well, even so mild wiggling cause them to come out loose from the gun. Very poor magazine retention design I have to say but I guess any manufacturer have to cut corners to make a such tiny gun. I have made a minor adjustment on the magazines by bending out the magazine retention hole a little bit to increase positive retention in the gun and it so far seems to work because I can't wiggle the magazine out of the any more but I will still have to go shoot a couple of hundreds rounds to see if this fixes the problem. Just be aware of this before you buy a TCP over a Ruger LCP. Something makes me think that I would not be having this problem with a LCP. On the positive note, TCP shoots very accurate and it has a very good trigger so I will try to make this work for those two reasons. more

Have not had my TCP long but have shot about 50 rounds through it. So far so good, I shot a variety of rounds and it handled everything I threw at it. Accuracy was good at 21 feet; but the sights are hard to find when tr...ying to fire rapidly. Heavy loads induced heavy recoil and was uncomfortable to the palm of my hand. Trying to unload the pistol is the only complaint I have. No matter what type of round was in the chamber it would not fully eject a loaded round. It made unloading a two person project. The round hangs up in the ejection port. No problem with ejection when shooting, only when clearing a loaded round. I measured the rounds and they are all proper length for a 380. The pistol is light, shoots well and small enough to conceal in pants pocket. For a small compact carry pistol it serves its purpose well; thus I would by it again if I needed one; you can't beat the price. Buds was good as always. more

This was my 3rd purchase from Buds, great service fast shipping. with in the first 100 rounds the gun failed to feed 5 times, a number of forum's posted quick fix's I didn't trust. One guy sent his gun back 4 time's and ...it still failed to feed. So I took matter's into my own hand's, I notced the ramp was narrower at the chamber (top) than the bottom. All my other guns ramps are the same with top & bottom. Now I don't recommend any one try this, but I took a dremel to wide'n the top of the ramp. problem solved. I just got back from the range. Fired 200 round's thru it with no problem's, the last 25 rounds where hollow points that wouldn't feed into a clean gun. I also put a dab of paint on the almost non-exsistent sights. With that I got a 3 inch grooping at 25 feet. Not bad for a 2.84 inch barrel. I can now trust this gun. It's small, light and fun to shoot. I would buy one again more

Took possession of this lil" beauty on 8/31 and put 75 rounds through it that day. Since I have put another 50 with no problems at all. The last 50 was remanufactured ammo and she ate it like candy. The small lightweight... frame is perfect for pocket or ankle carry and so far very reliable. The only drawback is it coming with only one magazine. I purchased another brand 10 round magazine that seats but it will not feed. I had to go with the Taurus factory 6 round magazine to get it to work properly. It will fit your hand much better and absorb some of the kick if a grip extender is purchased for the magazine. I have yet to shoot any hollow points, but I racked out an entire magazine of hollow point self defense ammo with no feed problems. Bottom line; for the price and the carry benefits of the 738 TCP380, I would definatly purchase it again. Buds is a great place to purchase firearms with a very smooth buying process. more

You get what you pay for NOT a good CCW
I purchased the TCP 380 brand new thinking it was going to be a good little carry gun, I liked the size and price, but was very disappointed with the quality and reliability.During the initial break in period of fewer th...an 150 rounds fired the internal hammer started sticking causing a delayed in firing, (that’s very bad) and the magazine was falling out when the rounds advanced up it. So after what seemed like a hundred phone calls to get through to Taurus they had me send it back. After six months and a few more calls they couldn’t fix it so they issued me another brand new TCP (I had to pay the FFL transfer fee out of my own pocket). So the new pistol has about 300 rounds fired out of it and no matter what ammo I use the last round jams and the mag still releases now and then. All of the reviews I read and saw on you tube recommend this pistol. I don’t !Stay away and spend a little more money on a higher quality 380 pistol especially if you are using it for a CCW. Look at (Smith, Glock, Kar etc.).YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR !!! more

First, props to Bud's for a very competitive price and fast and excellent service. Took the gun to the range with Sellier and Bellot 92 grain FMJ for break-in, and Hornady Critical Defense for practice with the actual am...mo I would be carrying. The Taurus worked perfectly from round 1, no jams, or failures to do anything for 150 rounds. I even mixed the S&B and Hornady loads in the same magazine - no problems. Accuracy was fine with many holes touching (at 5 and 7 yards) despite the very low profile sights that are almost invisible when focused on a small black target. A few drops of white-out should solve that nicely. It's no secret that Taurus has problems with the Millenium class pistols, and a mixed reputation for initial quality control and customer service in general, but this pistol is a winner. It is much more controllable than a Keltec P3AT or a Ruger LCP, equally accurate or better, the bolt stays open on the last round, there's a bolt hold open tab for cleaning and inspecting (a feature several competitors lack), and most important in a carry gun, it was utterly reliable with the FMJ and hollow point ammunition I tried. Conceals easily in a pocket - no reason to ever leave home without it. And last but not least, it is a very handsome pistol. . more

I was unsure about this gun. I have owned other Taurus pistols before and they were just ok. This gun fits that bill for the most part. Great pocket concealment. The recoil is pretty snappy but manageable for the most pa...rt, the sights definitely need to be painted but seem to be accurate. I can only run about 100 rounds through it before my hands are shot though. The only downsides are the trigger: the trigger has a very long pull to break but it is smooth. If you try and stage this trigger you will inevitably shoot like crap. But if you do one consistent pull its a nice shooter. The only other real downside I have is the extraction pattern. IT'S ALL OVER THE PLACE. Brass fly in every direction without much rhyme or reason, including back over my head every once in a while. I have put around 3 or 400 rounds through mine and just now cleaned it. I might have had one FTE in that whole time. Don't expect to shoot distance with this gun but it definitely functions and conceals well. The gun has functioned flawlessly and I wouldn't have much of a problem throwing it on my person and carrying it. more

A REAL SLEEPER - BEST VALUE IN 380 - Made in USA

Worst part of the transaction was having to wait 5 days for my debit transaction to clear. When I want something I want it now. Once my money cleared after 5 business days it took 2 days to get to my FFL. The TCP is pret...ty small and light, exactly what I was looking for. Internet forums tend to bash this gun and most don't seem to own one. I had a Taurus Millenium in the past and it worked flawlessly. For $199 I was willing to give it a shot. I put about 125 rounds through it out of the box with not a single issue. The majority of ammo I used was PMC and also put Hydra Shocks through it. The HS has some kick. It shot very accurately for what it is. Trigger reset is completely releasing the trigger.cThere is a click which I thought was the resettable about half way, but it was not a reset. So far I am extremely happy. more

I bought this with the idea of a backup carry option. To be honest I was very skeptical of Taurus but for with money being very tight a Walther PPK or Seecamp 380 were out of the question. Nothing too special opening the... box when I got it. The magazine wouldn't drop free and it almost took two hands to drop the slide release on initial inspection. So off to the range to get the feel before it went into my pocket. It shot accurate and felt recoil was nothing next to other mouseguns I have shot. The trigger surprised me, its great! Smooth pull and crisp clean positive break. After about 100 rounds the magazine drops free and the slide release operates easily with my thumb. Pick one up and be sure to break it in before judgement. Great little defensive weapon. As for Buds, great price and fast shipping. I will buy from you guys again! more

I have to begin by saying this was my first order with Buds for a firearm, and it was smooth, easy, fast shipping, and did I say easy?? Now , on the Taurus. Very nice. However, I did have to do a little filing and finish... stoning on the slide, opposite the ejector. It wasnt machined quite enough and the rim of the cartridge would stick. Once I took it down just a hair and polished it up with a fine stone, it not only ejected, but ejected like a champ. I also polished the ramp and its has worked with the Defense hollow points and Remington fjm ball rounds I have fed through it. For the price, I cant complain at all. more

Very nice pistol with a very good fit and finish. The action on this gun is smooth and easy from the factory and in topical Taurus form it did have a bit of extra grease on it. After a little wipe down it was clean and s...till very smooth. The trigger is light enough but not too light for a gun with no safety, and the pull is very smooth too. I was a bit disappointed that this was listed as a normal TCP PT738 prior to my purchase but then when I got it there was no second MAG or the carry case. After the gun shipped the listing was updated to show that but it was not like that when I bought the gun. All in all I am very happy with this pistol as Taurus puts out a pretty nice product. more

The guns shoots. If you were in trouble, it could be of use. If you to shoot someone from any distance beyond 15ft, you may need to just take cover. While I had no hiccups with it, it is just a bit too snappy from such a... small round. Yes, its small, but the turbulence of the recoil is enough to really get you off target even on a tight grip and trained aiming. It does what its supposed to (close quarters combat/deterrent) but I like a weapon that I can shoot from a safe cover distance, not just spray and pray. more

I go back and forth on this one. It was my very first gun purchase (I now own 8) 2 years ago. I got my concealed carry license and bought a couple of in-pocket holsters for it and carried it with me almost every day. It... is a PERFECT size for a pocket pistol. I could easily carry it in my front jeans pocket, but it really fit best in the front top pockets of my cargo shorts. Very nice summer-time CC pistol. Unfortunately, it managed to malfunction twice while at a gun range. The first time it malfunctioned was after about 200 or 300 rounds (total, not that trip) - it stopped extracting some of the spent rounds which caused an FTE and a FTF. I shipped it to Taurus. They examined it and determined that it was a problem with the extractor, which they replaced. Received my gun back and it fired like new again. The next time was after about 700 rounds. Heard a weird "pop!" when I fired it and the entire gun was jammed. When I pulled out the magazine a small piece of metal (a piece of the actual gun, maybe?) fell out. I've shipped it back and it's waiting for repair. Sure, the repairs are free. But FedEx wants $69 every time I ship it since they will only send firearms overnight. So I've invested $138 on shipping a gun in for repair that only costs (at the moment) $180? If I have to return it a third time I'm in the red. I ended-up purchasing a Sig Sauer P238 as my every-day CC. I'll keep this around as a spare gun to have laying around the house but with the issues I've experienced I just wouldn't trust my life to it. more

As always Buds did a great job of delivering the gun to my FFL at a super price. I really like this gun and plan on using it as my primary concealed carry firearm. But it does seem to be picky about ammo. I've run 150 ro...unds of magtech 95 grain ball ammo through the gun and it consistently fails to feed this ammo. The slide will hang up and I need to manually pull the slide back which will then chamber the round. Now with all Hornaday hollow point (XTS, critical defense and zombie) the gun cycles perfectly. Looks like I'm gonna have to shoot the more expensive ammo at the range while practicing. Gun has very manageable recoil, very accurate for such a small gun and the trigger is very smooth. Mine is a keeper. Cycles quality hollow point ammo perfectly. Just doesn't seem to like cheaper round nose ammo. more

Bought this gun approximately 15 months ago & found a FACTORY mag at a pawn shop. Polished the feed ramp on the barrel & lightly polished the inside upper most part of the magazine lips on both FACTORY and 2 Pro Mag maga...zines. Added a Pierce mag extension along with a Pachmayr grip sleeve. Carried it to the range approximately 3 months ago to test the firearm and as long as I used the FACTORY mags,, the gun worked flawlessly with both PMC fmj's and jhp's. The gun was not "snappy",was a joy to shoot and was surprised at the accuracy of this little pistol! Own numerous Taurus handguns and so far have no complaints. Phenomenal Pistol!
First of all, I have rather large hands, but, even so, this pistol fits in my right hand just fine! I had an issue with the lack of white dots on the front, and, rear sights, so I bought me an oil-based fine pointed pen,... and, added my own White dots, onto the front and, rear sights on this Taurus TCP38, and, "wow," what a difference it made on the pistol's accuracy. As for the trigger pull, after checking a number of .380 caliber small pistols, this Taurus, felt the best, at least to me! For some reason, out of all the pistols that I own, my Taurus pistols shoot the most accurate? I plan to add a Red Laser attachment to the trigger guard as soon as I can for added protection, if and, when needed, especially, after the sunset hours. Now, if I can only find some spare magazines for this pistol (two of them, at least), and, I'll be one very happy camper! A great pistol! You can't go wrong with it. more

Shot it the day after I ...got it. Recoil is not bad at all for a gun that light. Front sight is a little hard to see but a little white or bright yellow paint will take care of that. Stay away from this dead stick
The gun is not one you can trust as a personal defense gun. Do one thing and you will see why.If you go to a range that will let you try one or have a friend that owns one. Fire the gun, let the trigger out until you fil...l a reset of the trigger.( about half way out) then pull the trigger the rest of the way. You will have a dead gun. You will need to clear that unfired round before the trigger will reset. If you can keep prefectly calm and the the trigger all the way out you will be fine. In the heat of the moment not something you want to chance. more

This little Taurus was guite a surprise. It's ultimately carryable, but the real surprise is how well it shoots. You do have to concentrate just to see the sights but with a very comfortable grip and a great trigger it's... really accurate. It can be ammo sensitive but I found this mainly with the after market mag I purchased. With the stock magazine, even when using hornaday hollow points I've had no failures through 150 rounds. So if you want extra mags I'd get the Taurus mags. This one is a nice surprise, very fun to shoot. more

Great feeling gun! I had read some mixed reviews about this gun. Some love it, and others wouldn't buy it again. The gun has a great feel to it. Mag release shoots the mag out great. The gun surprised me as to how accura...te it was for being a small gun at 7 yards. The recoil is not bad at all on this gun for being so small either. One thing that I do dislike about this gun is how it comes apart. The barrel can be a little tricky when putting the slide back on, however this isn't necessarly enough to bring it down a star. It is a great gun for the money so far. Granted I have only shot 50 shots through it, but I only had 2 that didn't feed all the way...I was shooting full metal jackets, and they say that this gun doesn't like to feed them correctly all the time, but will feed the others just fine. Overal the gun has a great feel to it, pretty accurate for a small gun, and a great concealable weapon! more

    close carry
Although I have owned several Taurus handguns, this gun is not what I would call dependable. While being very compact and light, being so makes it hard for it to handle the 380 shell. I will admit that when it is clean a...nd loaded with personal protection ammo, it will fire all rounds ok. That can get expensive for practice or understanding how the gun will act. That is if they are hollow point and more cone shaped at the bullet. It is not a practice gun. When loaded with round nose range ammo it tends to jam, at least twice through a clip. Clears easily, because it kicks the magizine out into your hand. My 45 nor my LC9 do that. I have mixed thoughts about this handgun, but I am going to keep working with it. Taurus builds a good handgun, (both revolvers function perfect), but I don't think they got it right with this one. I am not sure if it is just my gun or a nature of the design, but I will keep it in the glove compartment as a backup. If you know someone that has one, give it a try with several different types of ammo before you buy. My thoughts. more

    Very Happy
Bought this as a concealed carry weapon. Wear it in a inside the pants holster over the wallet pocket. Very comfortable to wear. Upon purchase I disassembled the gun, cleaned it and the mag, polished the feedramp, lightl...y lubed everything and reassembled. At the range it handled hollow points and fmj with equal ease, and no problems. I have added a mag extension and grip jacket, these make it nicer to hold and fire. This is a well made handgun, functions well and is comfortable to carry. As noted by others it is a 10-25 foot center of mass shooter. Highly recommend. more

Smooth Trigger * Eats Everything * SS Model
This review is for the All Black Stainless Steel Taurus TCP 738, Made in USA. Bought this used from a fellow who claimed that he had put 100 rounds through without a hitch. Clean as a whistle. I put two mags each of WWB,... MagTech, Federal American Eagle, and Remington UMC with only one caveat. All 50-count boxes. Had one slow-burn with the WWB, but I'm fairly certain it was a failure on my part to reset the trigger fully. WWB has a flat head, as you know, and fed perfectly. I'm not reporting on several-hundred rounds; my hands can only take so much at one sitting. Gun shoots really great at 15 and 25 feet. Did not try beyond that range. Trigger is immaculately smooth--nicer than my wife's Ruger LCP, a gun I happen to like quite a bit. Reset is a little long IMO, but I knew this to be the case, and the Ruger LCP or the BG380 are no better in this respect. I highly recommend this particular Taurus. I shoot it better than the Ruger LCP, which as I said, I also like. more

    Very good quality compact gun
I have had this gun now for about 1 year and it is my concealed carry weapon. I have shot it several hundred times and it has always functioned perfectly. I have never had a jam or misfire. Before I bought it, I had read... reviews saying that ammo would sometimes not feed correctly because the feed ramp needed polishing. So, before I ever shot it, I took it apart and cleaned it very good and I polished the feed ramp. The gun it light weight, so light that I sometimes forget that I have it in my pocket. I would definitely buy it again. more

    Broke out of the box
Day I purchased the gun, took it to the range, it would not fire nor eject, very disappointing. I took it to a gun shop, I was advised to send the gun in for repair as the problems were gun related (not ammo). I called T...aurus, they emailed me a label to FedEx the gun to them, entire process took 7 days (I'll say this, Taurus was great and a very fast turn around. I shipped on a Monday, got the repaired gun back the following Monday). The firing pin and ejector were replaced as they were found faulty. Now the gun fires fine, no further issues as of today. I'm disappointed that the gun had issues out of box so I wonder about quality control in Taurus. This will likely be the first and last Taurus I purchase. more

Great little conceal weapon. I wear this inside my waist band on my back and often forget it is there. I have put about 200 rounds through it without issue. Consistent center mass grouping at varying distances between 10... and 25 feet utilizing just a point and shoot aim. I have large hands and thought having only a 2 finger grip would be awkward but no so with this 380. It has a long trigger pull but I like that because it reduces the chances of an accidental discharge when drawing the weapon. more

Love the Taurus TCP .380 SST
I gave it a 4 only because initially I had some feed problems with round ball and hollow points jamming up on the feed ramp. 5 minutes with a light duty dremel brush and a little TLC, it shoots great. No more feed issues... so far. Most likely had I just shot it more it would have been fine without the little bit of ramp work. I have put approximately 300 rounds through it now.It fits my hand much better than the Ruger .380 compact. I also bought mag grip extenders for 2 of my 4 mags. I carry it using the mags w/out the extenders added. The little Pachmayr grip is a nice addition for shooting and looks. It does shoot a little low (good groups at 20 ft or so). Saving up for a laser sight to solve that issue. more

I had an issue with proper feeding from the first magazine and after finding a video on YouTube I found that the feed ramp was at the wrong degree to properly feed rounds. I sent the gun back to Taurus who had it back to... me within just a few weeks with that issue and a couple more they found that I was unaware of corrected. Now the gun feeds and shoot very well for an inexpensive gun that is perfect for conceal carry. If you don't want to spend nearly double to get a Ruger LCP that is not nearly as good as this gun. Buds is awesome to deal with and I would recommend buying all of your guns here. more

Good budget gun, disapears in your pocket.
I too had issues with the gun jamming until I did a lot of research. I found out that if you do not have a clean trigger pull & release (not letting go of the trigger immediately after firing a round), it will jam on... occasion which is unacceptable for a CCW! But once I realized this was the issue & practiced a clean fluid trigger pull & release, I have not had a single jam yet. Remember, this is a budget gun, for the price, I love it. more

Buds was great. Expedited shipping, had it in 4 days. The gun on the otherhand is a piece of junk. I do not recommend it to anyone. Spend a few more bucks on a Ruger, S&W, or even Kel-Tec if you want a dependable quality... firearm (I own pistol from all 3 manufactures). I sold it at a loss after FFL fees. The shipping was amazing on this product! I ordered it on a Friday and picked it up from the FFL dealer on the following Tuesday. I did not want to compare this to my LCP but I immediately found myself doing it. Right ou...t the box, this pistol is much more inferior in overall looks than the LCP. It looks like Taurus gathered their cheapest metal to make this gun. I don't mind too much about that though because for the price, it is an amazing pistol! The overall feel and grip is more preferable to me than the LCP though. I also enjoy the trigger pull on this one. With the LCP, I have to squeeze the trigger 3 quarters of the way back before I begin to actually aim! The polymer on this is also very cheap! My first attempt at removing the pin and the polymer bent. I quicky YouTubed pin removal for TCP and there is a lot of videos about it. The best method is to take string and pull the pin out that way. Like I said, I paid $200 for vs. $300 for my LCP. They both came with 1 clip but the Taurus came with a plastic case, against the Ruger's cardboard one. For $300, no question about it, the LCP is superior. For $200, this gun cannot be beat! more

Shot the the TCP this weekend and it performed flawlessly... Loaded chamber indicator does not work.. I think it is supposed to protrude a little which it doesn't do but I love this little pistol. Nicely accurate, slide ...holds open, and I got it for 200.00. It does a have a fair degree of muzzle flip but holds target well due to the smooth predictable trigger. I would recommend this little pistol to anyone. I wanted the LCP but did not like how it felt in my hand. TCP felt way better in my hand and it has better sights with a last shot hold open I took this one instead of the LCP... This is the best pocket pistol I've ever carried or fired. It's far better 'polished' than either the Kel-Tec or the LCP, and shoots better than both. The trigger is excellent, very smooth and intuitive, and much lighter... than an LCP. Mine breaks at approximately 5 pounds. It's a hoot to fire, the first pocket pistol that I've ever actually enjoyed shooting, and has digested every kind of ammo I've thrown at it without a single hiccup (Federal, WWB, & Remington). I haven't tried wolf due to the horror stories, and probably won't. Everyone that has shot this, both experienced and new shooters alike, have been pleasantly surprised by it. I could not give Taurus' TCP higher praise! more

    Good Buy
Purchased a TCP 738 last Friday. After reading the Owners Manual I see why some people had trouble with the 738. It says that after each round to allow the trigger to return completely forward or the round might or might... not fire. As for the break down pin, I had no trouble with it at all. Put it back in just as the manual instructed. Took it to the range Monday evening. It worked flawless through 50 rounds. Would bet my life on the little sidearm. more

    Many Issues
This is the only sub-compact that fits my arthritic hands. On other similar guns, the trigger is moving when I insert my finger between the trigger and guard. Great value. After ordering I read many reviews. Early ones complained of feed issues, and a poor finish on the feed ramp. My FFL said he liked his, and that he had sold about 20 of them to that point. The first thing ...I noticed during inspection. A polished feed ramp. Taurus is listening to it's customers. I fired winchester FMJ, Cor Bon high velocity HP, and Hornady critical defense HP's. All ran flawlessly. I tried TulAmmo FMJ's The gun jammed badly. It appeared that the case wasn't sized properly. I let my daughter fire it. It was her first time shooting. she fired one shot, and put it down. I noticed it didn't feed the next round. So... a firm grip is important. (as with any blowback design) I only fired it at the 7 yard bench. But, the groups were very tight. Bottom line. Loaded with Cor Bon, or Hornady critical defense. I would trust this gun as a CCW, or nightstand gun. This coming from someone who only trusted revolvers so far. more

Bud's service is very quick, thorough and efficient - their communication from the moment of purchase until the item leaves their warehouse is top notch. This being said, Taurus QC leaves quite a bit to be desired. The ...money you save by purchasing a Taurus handgun is a trade off, as receiving a quality, reliably functioning firearm seems to be hit or miss. My TCP was shipped with a defective barrel. This defect causes difficulty chambering a round manually. (You'll be able to turn up some details on this problem with a google search.) Unfortunately this was not something that I was able to discern at my FFL, so I took the item home and now I have to work directly with Taurus. Their turnaround time is 3-4 weeks. Their customer service people are friendly enough, but in an ideal world, I'd not have to deal with customer service at all. Taurus's friendly employees and lifetime warranty save them from a 1* rating here. If I had it to do over again, I'd look to another manufacturer. more

First off, Buds shipping was very fast as expected! The gun has its issues but are easily fixed with some know how and dremel. Before shooting the gun I sanded (600 grit) and polihed the feed ramp to a mirror finish with... some Flitz. This also helps with the angle of the feed ramp, which is the main problem. I then sanded the edges of the top of the magazine and the mag follower, also another issue. But after all this was done I have had not one problem with the TCP at all after 150rds so far. I think this gun is a great and cheap CWP weapon. Thanks Buds! more

    I'm selling it!
Issue #1. I tried to carry critical defense loads in it but by chambering a round in it everyday it pushed the bullet back into the case and failed to feed. If you only fire hardball this will not be a problem.Issue #2. ...After using the gun for about 6 months (I had previously fired around 300 rounds through the gun) I tried to fire the gun at the range and the trigger would not pull the hammer back far enough to release the hammer. The trigger pin worked out and contacted the frame not allowing the trigger to be pulled all of the way. I pushed the pin back in and it worked out again.Since I carry this gun for defense there will not be an issue #3 because I'm selling it! more

First off I love Buds. This is the 3rd order for me and they were fast and the cheapest I could find. Now onto the gun. I have to say I love the gun it shoots well, doesn't recoil too badly, and is reliable. I shot 50 ro...unds of Remington 95 grain fmj and several rounds of Hornady Zombie Max 90 grain jhp with absolutely no problems. So why did I give it a 4 and not a 5? 2 reasons the point of aim and point of impact are a bit off (rounds impact 3" low at 15 yards) and no one offers an extended magazine (yet). At this point I really like the gun and even with the sights being off it isn't a huge issue as it isn't meant to shoot more than 7 yards for me. more

I would like to start by saying buds was great fast shipping as usual and great communication. I like the size and weight of the gun. But I can not shoot it accurately to save my life the recoil it worse than any hand gu...n I have ever shot. This is probably due to the size of the gun so I bought a grip extention and have not been back to the range to try it out. good quality
I have not run any rounds through my pistol yet. I can say this though, after reading all the negative reviews I have gone through my pistol and have found most of the negatives unfounded. The slide staying locked back w...hen only the clip is in, there is a small lever on the inside the clip pushes up on that allows this to happen, hence why it has to be manually locked back without the clip in it. Rounds not feeding up, yes it does have an issue here but I have found by dry running round into the chamber repeatedly it gets better. Also I have a good friend who told me to use valve lapping compound to polish the load ramp. So in all do not these two issues suede you from purchasing this firearm. more

It was still misfiring and the slide still would not stay locked open. So, I sent it back to Taurus again with a letter telling them how disappointed I was with the firearm and their service. I got the gun back about 4 days later, and so far it has been working alright. I had one fail to extract in 50 rounds, so I can live with that. very unimpressed. Bought one from buds last month -- the transaction with Buds was fine -- they are a great seller. However the gun arrived at my local FFL defective. The gun would not work; you loaded the clip and it re...sisted going into the gun and felt loose then popped out, and when the magazine did stay in and you pulled back the slide to cock the gun - the first bullet would jam in the gunand the slide would stay open with the first bullet partially ejected. I sent it back to Taurus they (really sucked their quality control is so bad that its defective when its brand new) they claim to have fixxed it but the magazine sticks out a full 1/4 of an inch from the bottom to the frame. I'd expect that of a China or Jennings gun but not of a Taurus. It jammed when I took it to the range and shot it after the 2nd and 5th round. I switched ammo to another mfgr. and it jammed on the 1st shot, I reoiled the gun and tried anther mafgr, this time hollowpoints and it jammed in the slide just like before. Can't wait to sell this junk gun. If you buy the 738 be prepared for real disappointment. It jams, is not black stainless, its' paint chips so easy and the build quality is that of a 1994 hyundai excell (remember the engine fires and no recall) or the Yugo. A cheap gun yes -- But I got a lemon and its so Sour -- Hate this gun hate Taurus and all their BS. And to seal the deal they sent it back fedex and never even sent an email to the effect that it was being returned to me. fedex came twice and of couse I did not know - the poor customer service at Taurus Failed BIG TIME !!! -- I had to take a day off work -- lose $300+ in earnings for an unplanned fedex pickup. more

If you are planning on getting this for your wife or girlfriend you may want to think again. I just bought one for my wife and the spring in the slide is so stiff that she cannot pull it back far enough to chamber a roun...d. I am 6'3 and weigh about 240 and it about takes everything I've got to do it. Also the latch pin that you have to take out to disassemble the firearm is almost impossible to remove and just as hard, if not harder, to put back in. The gun performs alright on the range but not so good that I would trust my life to have it be my only ccw. Like can happen with anything else, I may have just gotten a "lemon" but I just thought I would give fair warning to any potential buyers. I'd rate it higher but...
It has a good trigger draw. Unlike most other light pistols, the draw of the trigger is steady and smooth. It is easy to shoot and easy to recover the sites back on the target. I kept my grouping within a 6" diamete...r immediately upon firing and there was no getting used to the recoil of this. My biggest concern is that it does tend to jam up if you use the low-end ammo. Use only brass cartridges and pay the extra dollars for the better brand rounds. Even then it tends to hesitate as the first round is entering the chamber from the clip. more

Zero malfunctions! Great pistol for the money!
I recently purchased this gun like about three months ago. I have never shot it untill three weeks ago or so. I have read all the reviews about this gun after i bought it. Not knowing what other people are saying about t...his gun. But it seams to be half and half or so. Saying good things and bad things about this pistol. So i was a little worried about shooting it or having this pistol as a back up. So i went out to the open range, aka "middle of no where", shot 100rds of winchester white box FMJ 95grs. and a mix of 50rds of old and cheap hollow points made out of aircraft aluminum, and some winchester rangers SXT LEO ammo. And not one FTF, FTE what so ever ZERO! Yeah thats not a broken in gun, But i have to say that i am very impressed with this gun! Trigger pull is great, locks back after every last round, sights are better than rugers, and shot it at 25 yards and had very good accuracy! The recoil was very manageable, felt great in my hands and winchester white box are dirty rounds, and those SXT's are very high powered bullets. If a gun cant shoot dirty, than dont trust your life on it. This gun shot everything, DIRTY! I Have shot my uncles ruger LCP, hurts to shoot after extended periods of time, sights not that good, not stainless steal, it rust during summer, or when ever you are very active with it on your person, trigger pull is very hard, But it does shoot everything you put thru it! And is a up close and personal gun as with the TCP! Im not a ruger basher! But as for the taurus tcp, overall it is a great gun for the money! If you can find it at a reasonable price. And yes i would trust my life to this taurus tcp that i own! Please read the manuel, follow instructions! Read warnings! And its not a +p gun. And safe shooting! Hope this review helps you decide on purchasing this gun or deciding on passing up on this gun! Thanks for reading this short review and safe shooting again! more

    TCP 380 WORST EVER
This was my first handgun purchased after getting out of the Marine Corps 20 years ago. I've been disappointed with gun ever since. The darn thing jams all of the time. I've tried different ammo's different grain weights..., clean the gun before every outing. I can sometimes get off a whole clip of 6 before the next clip jams. I've even had 2 smiths look at it and they couldn't fix it. I still carry it because I haven't been able to sell it. I hope others don't have these problems. more

Failure to eject, extract and misfires
I bought the Taurus TCP .380 brand new a few months ago. The Taurus TCP .380 is very easily concealable and very lightweight. It is for that reason I purchased the gun. It is also decently accurate. Fit and finish is nic...e. HOWEVER, I cannot get through a magazine without at least 1 failure. Sometimes, 2 failures in the same mag. In other words, 10-15 jams out of 60 shots. I have tried two different mags and different brands of ammo, gun still "jams". I am glad that some of you are enjoying your TCP, but mine is worthless. If my life depended on it, the Taurus TCP .380 cannot be trusted. Maybe I got a lemon, but for now I would not recommend this gun to anybody. more

    Great little gun.
I was a little hesitant to buy this. It was my first 380 and my first Taurus. I have put 200 rounds through it in less than a month. They have been FMJs. Traditional hollow points that were several years old and some Hor...nady Critical Defense. Everything I ran through shot flawlessly. I had one FTF but I am positive I limp wristed it. Great Gun, and Great value. The only catch is you can't get extra mags yet. more

    PT738 380
I bought this pistol after seeing it advertised in Cabelas 49 Anniversery flyer for a great price. For concealed carry I believe this pistol is about perfect. Reliable, lightweight and good looking, it fits in pockets an...d is so light I can forget it is there. With around 200 rounds through it so far I have had only 2 malfunctions and they were early on. Twice the slide locked open with one round left in the magizine. A quick hit to the slide release and the pistol chambered and fired the last round. No other trouble occured. The low profile fixed sights cause it to shoot low at extended range but this is not a long range pistol. A reliable pistol, two magizines, 6+1 capacity , a belt pouch and a great price, what more can we ask. more

Taurus TCP Great Concealed and Carry Handgun
Taurus TCP This is a great gun for CCW use. The small size is great for front pocket carry. The gun is easy to load so far. Just pull the slide back and let go, The spring has enough power to load the cartridges I have h...ad trouble with the L&B cartridges stove piping on me, but no trouble with USA made ammunition. I had trouble with the Take Down Pin at first. Then I started putting the pin in the frame before putting the slide and barrel back on the gun. Made it a lot easier to put back together. This gun does not have Ambidextrous Magazine release. I'm Left Handed and that was one of the selling points that I liked. After getting the gun home I couldn't change the release. I called Taurus and they said that it is not Ambidextrous. I still like the gun. I use the Galco Pocket Pro Holster ( Ruger LCP w/CTC } is the size you need if you have the Crimson Trace Trigger Gard Laser on your gun as I do. This holster has no padding so it is slim looking and the leather rib at the top of the holster helps to break up the out line of the gun. The Crimson Trace Laser is a great add on. You can keep the gun close to you body and still make a good shot. And the Bad Guy can't push the gun away while your trying to aim the gun with arms out in front of you. Can't go wrong buying this gun. Made in the USA. more

    great little gun
I was buying the pink framed one for my wife and the black one came in so I decided to go ahead and keep it for myself and get the pink one reordered and boy o boy am I glad I did. I love packing this gun as my cc gun, t...he holster that comes with it is good for keeping the gun protected but kind of awkward and a little difficult to get the pistol out of I would recommend a different holster. The gun shoots great not real accurate after about 20 yards but that’s to be expected from such a small frame gun. Not a real good gun to just go out plinking with cheap ammo because it does jam quite often but with good quality ammo it does a great job. The trigger pull is definitely long but smooth and consistent; the recoil is a little rough for my wife but great for keeping in the night stand or glove box. more

    Not disappointed
I haven't had a chance to shoot this gun too much yet but I wanted to get another review out there (only 4 so far) to help others in deciding between this and the Ruger LCP.I was able to compare this to the Rugur LCP at ...the store. I'm glad I got to see them both because I went in planning to get the Ruger based on reviews. After handling them both there was no question I preferred the Taurus. For me, the Taurus had sights that were easier to see, a much better trigger pull, and felt slightly better in the hand.I have shot about 50 rounds thru this gun so far. Three different brands and three different bullet designs. Not a single fail to fire or loading or ejection problem yet. Not a very extensive test but off to a good start.I was shooting at about 12 feet and was hitting about 1 inch to the right and 1 inch down from point of aim - probably due to the way I was holding to manage the long trigger pull. Group size was about 3 inches with any of the ammo (not being expecially careful - just plinking). The only problem I can see so far is that it seems a little bit difficult to get the first round to chamber after inserting the magazine. I takes a decisive snap of the slide to get the shell to chamber - sometimes a second attempt was needed. I hope this will improve with use. My wife has not tried this gun yet - I'm afraid she may have a little trouble with getting that first round chambered. This gun is very small but still easy to handle. I have large hands and I think my wife will find it a good fit as well.I have carried this constantly since purchase (in the bulldog holster that came with it) and hardly know I have it.I recomment this in spite of the chambering issue which I think will improve over time. more

    NOT a mouse gun!
Best pocket pistol ever!!!! True, sights are trying, but better than the competition. If you think your Taurus 738 is a "mouse gun", go buy yourself some Buffalo Bore .380+P rounds (Cabelas sells them). You wil...l think again, my friend! If your .380 can take them (the Taurus 738's LOVE them!), Buffalo Bore rounds make your little .380 ROAR! 267 FPE! & the Taurus loves them! Accurate to boot! Super neat little pistols! None better, none equal. This line of pistols deserves far more than 5 stars. more

    Great little pocket pistol
I purchased my TCP 738 on Saturday, even after reading many of the negative reviews on other websites.Once home, I tried to cycle some Winchester SuperX JHP’s through to make sure they would feed. Instant jam.I polishe...d the feed ramp slighly, chamfered the leading edge of the take-down pin (to make it easier to get it past the spring that holds it in place) cleaned everything up and reassembled. At the range on Sunday, 100 rounds of MFS FMJ and 20 rounds of the Win Super X JHP. NO failures, whatsoever. The slide did lock back on every empty mag. After dropping the spent magazine, placing the 738 on the bench hit the slide release enough to release the slide. The sights are small and difficult to see, but good enough to hit the aimpoint at 20 feet. The trigger pull is long, but consistent. Recoil is about what you can expect from a sub-3 inch barreled gun that weighs 10 ounces. My wife enjoyed shooting it as well, despite the recoil.Overall, the TCP738 will serve nicely in a pocket holster or ankle rig. more

    Taurus TCP .380 Outstanding
I recently purchased a Taurus TCP .380 to be used as a concealed carry defensive weapon. I own pistols of almost every caliber and have purchased Taurus handguns for several years. I researched .380's and after having ch...ecked all of them out in person, I decided I liked the trigger pull of the Taurus better than the others, plus the very reasonable price and of course the lifetime warranty. I took it to the range and put a couple of boxes of .380 FMJ through it with no problems and less recoil and more controllability than I had anticipated. I then tried critical defense rounds which are optimized for short barrel autos with more velocity and less recoil and of course the flex tip which improves penetration especially through clothes.I was very pleased with this gun and believe that with this ammo it will be an easy to carry and effective defensive handgun. I saw recently in a major gun magazine that a well known company has come out with a laser sight custom made for the Taurus TCP making it an even more desirable purchase. more

    Perfect Concel Carry Gun!
I was trying to decide between the Ruger LCP, the Micro Eagle and this gun (Taurus TCP). First off this is the only one of the three that has the action open up when you have spent all of your bullets. I think is an impo...rtant feature when you are in a self defense situation. I also liked the trigger which is very smooth, much smoother then the other two I was comparing it to. The weight is almost identical to the LCP you can barley feel it in your front pocket. The sights are still not that of a full sized gun but they are better the the LCP and about the same as the Micro Eagle. (they take a little getting used to) The other thing I liked is that it was made here in the good ole USA! more
