The Bersa Thunder 380 is a blowback-operated, double-action/single-action semi-automatic which takes its design cues from the Walther PPK, famously carried by the fictional secret agent James Bond. dissapointed..................
I bought this doing some extensive research and maybe I got a bad one? I took this to the range to show a friend how to shoot and the safety failed me. I was showing the safety features along with how the de-cocker works... and it completely locked up on me. I could not for the life of me get it unstuck until I got it home and disassembled it. Before I took it to the range I took it apart and cleaned and lubed it. it failed after 100rds. But, when I did shoot it, it never FTF or FTE. no jams whatsoever. I was disappointed because I love the ergonomics, the feel and recoil. I have since corrected it and I'm weary about it being a carry gun. if it happens again ill send it off to be fixed and trade it in. more

Bought this firearm for my wife . We shot it for the first time and it jammed up twice . Not a good look in front of the wife who I’m trying to convince to carry.

    Shoots great, when it works.
I bought this 2 years ago. It was already in the shop earlier this year for a complete rework, new barrel, firing pin, etc. Got it back and it worked great, for the 2 times I shot ir afterwards. Now the spring or mag wel...l is bad and it will not pop open after emptying a clip, but sometimes I will. Not to mention I’ve tried 5+ different types of ammo, one being Winchester, and it hates 99% of them. I’ve found only Remington ammo works in it. It constantly misfires. I’m getting rid of this gun very soon! more

Low recoil, accurate, nice grip, great concealment
I bought this gun about a month ago, an I've put more than 600 rounds through it, hasn't jammed nor have I had any problems with it while shooting. It has low recoil, and is pretty accurate, I've read onli...ne that it apparently shoots low, but i haven't had that problem at all. Awesome gun perfect for concealment, feels great in your hand, light trigger pull when the hammer is cocked. Comes with 1 clip(8 bullet capacity) and a storage box(at least at the academy i purchased from. The only "problem" I've had is when I disassemble the gun. I couldn't put it back together. It felt like I was forcing it, it wasn't locking back into place. It wasn't til I put the clip back into the gun that everything smoothly clicked back into place. Which was very odd, but I thought id share since I read online that a couple of other people had problems reassembling, an putting the clip in then reassembling works every time for me. more

    Decent.
Good gun. I'm writing this review to correct the specs above. First off, this gun has a capacity of 8+1, when using the standard Bersa clip (after market was only 7)(Promag). Second, I have yet to fire it but all ev...idence leans toward this pistol being a single action, which of course would also make it a double action. I will update after firing. more

    Great concealed carry
I bought my wife a Bersa Thunder on a recommendation and the great reviews this gun gets. I liked hers so much I went and bought me one. The Bersa Thunder is well made and has some wieght to help with recoil and accuracy... from a small hand gun. They are very accurate and with the right ammo, perfect for CCW. I highly recommend the Bersa Thunder as a carry gun when you need something smaller. more

    Perfect CCW
My son bought this for me for Christmas a year ago. This weapon has replaced several other weapons as my conceal carry. The greatest feature is when the safety is on, the trigger is released and will not fire. Flip the s...afety and it's ready to go, double action. Very accurate (my family shoots a lot), dependable and will perform flawlessly on the cheaper ammo from Russia. more

    Great pistol!
Purchased the Bersa Thunder 380 along with a Smith & Wesson SD9 about 6 months ago. Both pistols are great and I have enjoyed them immensely. These were the first handguns I have ever purchased. I had a few fte but m...ore related to me and the ammo used. Easy to clean and put back together. Academy's price was also great. Really like this gun and would be even better if two magazines were included like the SD9. Well made and completely satisfied with my purchase. more

    solid piece of machinery
Purchased this little gem about 2 month back for something a little smaller to conceal. From the very first shot I was able to stack 2 inch groups at 20 feet. I have put 750 rounds down range and never had a jam or malfu...nction. This Bersa .380 also has a very good feel/handle to it. I would definitely recommend this gun. Excellent fire arm and very accurate. more

I have had my thunder 380 about 9 months great gun, very accurate and reliable. Only problem out of 500+ rounds was 3 stove pipes from 1 box of blazer brass. Ever thing else runs fine.

    Good, almost great!
Love the pistol - very comfortable to hold, balanced and very accurate to shoot. If you're trying to decide between this and the CC version - well consider the differences carefully. This one is a great gun to shoot... at the range or put it in your car or home - worth every dollar. If you are looking to carry a pistol with you -- this one isn't it. The tail and the pinky extensions don't make it into a comfortable carry pistol so consider the CC version instead. more

    Waste of Money
First, this is not an accurate gun. Its light weight allows for a lot of muzzle flip unless you put a death grip on it. Second, as a result of the muzzle flip, it jams...frequently. Mine averages at least one jam per mag...azine. My FNH FS 9mm is far easier to shoot, is significantly more accurate, and is cheaper to shoot. You get what you pay for. more

    Has metal frame very accurate
I bought this bersa 380 two tone pistol about 3 years ago. It's the first center fire I've owned but I have tried several other pistols from, 380 to 45 cal. This bersa is all metal frame it is very accurate and... really fun to shoot it has about 4 1/2 lb trigger pull its in the same place every time you pull the trigger. I've had better luck with winchester and target rounds. Any of the higher priced rounds do better. I think for the money it is the best concealed 380 out there. more

I purchased one of these pistols a few months ago for my everyday CCW. This gun fits my hands quite nicely (I have issues with holding most gun grips). I especially like the safety on this pistol. I very highly recommend this pistol for concealed carry! more

I have the early version Bersa 85,love it. Well thought I would buy a newer lighter version Bersa "Thunder" .380, my old 85 holds 13rd. The new Bersa "Thunder" holds 7rd. BERSA THUNDER is an EXCELLENT weapon!!!
I have a Bersa Thunder with the "ceracoat" finish. I have found it to be a "top shelf" precision weapon. I would put it up against ANY weapon in it's class of .380 handguns. It has performed flaw...lessly with the right ammunition. HOWEVER...I would recommend only top grade type ammo from Fiocchi, Federal, or Remington for use with this weapon because the firing mechanism is tight and just like ANY other weapon made, will jam with cheaper ammo that doesn't "ramp" cleanly. more

    Bersa Thunder 380 Fragged
I bought the Bersa a couple of weeks ago, and when I took it out of the box I heard something rattling inside, (didn't hear it at the store). Broke it down for a cleaning and inspection. The piece of metal was a cre...scent shape. I looked the pistol over and found no evidence from where it came. Took it to the range and halfway through my second magazine, the gun jammed, the slide locked back and started to 'self disassemble'. I removed the slide and cleared the jam. This time 2 more small pieces of metal came out. When I got home I tore the gun down and found the slide stop (just below the barrel) had fragmented, and the mating part of the slide was cracked and dented. The slide had hit the slide stop that violently. Contacting Bersa for warranty repair. Beware. more

    Bersa Thunder 380 Fragged
I bought the Bersa a couple of weeks ago, and when I took it out of the box I heard something rattling inside, (didn't hear it at the store). Broke it down for a cleaning and inspection. Great pistol, great price, great experience!
I was at a gun show in San Antonio months ago looking for another of this pistol and didn't like any of the prices I saw because I knew what it was supposed to be sold around. Great reliable carry weapon
Bought this gun three months ago. Had a few FTEs however the more I shoot this Bersa the better it gets to where I can't remember the last time I an FTE. Very accurate and pleasant to shot. This is my 2nd Bersa. The... first Bersa 22 Firestorm saved both my wife and my life as we were attacked by 2 pitbulls and a rotweiler at our country home. Killed the 1st pitbull which backed the other two off. Bersa makes fine reliable guns of which I can personally attest to. more

    Not cheap, economical.
Just recently sold my Firestorm (Bersa) 380 after about 10 years of ownership. No problem with the pistol, just developed lack of confidence in the capabilities of the .380 cartridge. To the best of my recollection, this... is the only pistol I have (well, up until I got the M&P Shield) that had zero, yes zero, failures to feed, fire or eject. Not picky on ammo and I thought it was a very comfortable shooter. I can only assume the posters giving this pistol one star don't really know what they are doing and may have used cheap ammo, limp-wristed while firing, etc. I would absolutely recommend this pistol and, actually, am going to save a little money and re-acquire a Bersa .380 in the concealed carry model. Safe shooting! more

    Quality and Value
I purchased the Bersa Thunder .380 about a month ago, and to date have put through about 350 rounds. Initially, it would not feed flat-nose or hollow-point. After breaking it in with about 220 rounds of round-nose Reming...ton and Federal, it now feeds everything without issue--including hollow-points. The gun is extremely comfortable to shoot, the trigger is very smooth, and it's easy to break down and clean. The slide is also easy to rack, which my wife likes. Bersa paid attention to the little details on this gun: groves on the front strap, back strap, and trigger guard; no-glare checkering on the top of the slide which creates a nice "runway" between the front and rear sights; there is an appropriately-placed thumb rest; and the decocker has a positive feel. Besides all that, it is accurate. If you do your part, close groupings are quite attainable. Prior to this purchase, I had always purchased American-made guns. After a lot of research, I decided to take the plunge and I am very pleased with it. The Thunder .380 is a very solid, capable gun. more

    Accurate little pistol!
I've had this gun for almost a month and have put about 300 rounds (of various brands of ammo) through it so far. Had a bit of trouble with it jamming in the beginning, until I realized that my extra mags had a ton ...of grease and needed a good cleaning. Since then, it works like a dream. The fixed barrel makes it very accurate. It fits my hand perfectly (I am a woman). I love this pistol. more

I had a Browning 380 and like a dummy went and sold it. But when I went to the gun store to see what 380 was available the sales person steered me to the Bersa. Nope I ain't getting rid of this 380, recommend you buy one if you want an old school type 380 that has a visible hammer and shoots single or double action. more

    First pistol
This is the first pistol purchased. Have had it 3-4 yrs. now. If you limp wrist it, it will jam or stove pipe, if you do not seat the magazine firmly, you will have failure to fire. Pistols require you use pad of index f...inger to pull the trigger for an accurate shot. Clean & Lubicate before shooting. Most complaints are due to shooter error. I know because I made most of them myself. Bersa .380 is what I used for Tx Concealed Handgun License range, passed with flying colors. Awesome .380
This is one .380 that is hard to beat. It is very accurate for the barrel length. It is light, compact, and feels great in your hand. The grip just fits my hand perfect with the finger grip on the magazine. I also bought... 2 extra ProMag clips for it and they functioned flawlessly. This is the best all around .380 acp I've held since the Browning BDA .380 ceased production. more

    Great gun
I bought mine about 2 years ago and instantly it became my favorite carry gun. I can't count the number of rounds I have put through it but I have only had 1 malfunction and I believe that was due to a burr on the h...ollow point jacket. The round hung up nose down in the mag when I dropped the mag the round had a sizeable burr, but these were cheap reloads that I bought at a gun show. It is probably the most accurate handgun I own. I can consistantly put all 7 rounds in a playing card at 10 yards in semi rapid fire. I have large hands and the gun "just feels right" while my wife with really small hands says the same thing. I bought a ProMag mag for it even though the reviews I read were not very good. So far with a couple of hundred rounds through it, it has been reliable. I do have to push the mag release button, however, to seat the ProMag more

    Works great, when it works
Bought this for my wife, she loves the size and feel. Shoots very well. Accurate with not a lot of recoil. However, it tends to stove-pipe a lot, regardless of who shoots it, so I don't think it's from limp wri...st. The trigger malfunctioned and had to send it in for repair after two months, and the same thing has now happened again a few months later. Less than six months and twice back for repair. Bersa is a blast
I've put 100 rounds of Tulo .380 in my new Bersa and can easily say it's worth every cent I paid for it. Pleasure to fire and quite accurate. For a 17 oz pistol, recoil is not bad. It feels right in your hand. ...No stove-piping, no excess fouling. And perfect for C&C. more

Quite a "Bang" for the buck
First of all... regardless of the description on this site, this is not a double action gun only. Only the first round is. All the rest are single action. If you cock the gun first with one round in the chamber, it is to...tally single action and the trigger pull on single action is no less than beautiful. Do not expect to hit your target on the first round if you leave it in double action mode. I've shot about a thousand rounds through this gun using different manufacturers' ammo.... only one kind of ammo jammed once in a while, and that was Walmart's PPU FMJ. Everything else went through without a hitch .. even cheaper and reloaded ammo. It is not the smallest 380 and it is not the largest 380; but it conceals well ... and with a little practice, you can hit any target all the time at 10 yards. If you cannot, it is not the guns fault ... it's your fault. The recoil is much more manageable than just about any other gun in its class It feels good in your hand or hands( the trigger guard has a rest for your other hand and the magazine has a rest for your pinky.). It is very accurate, very reliable, and has the finish of much more expensive guns. It is also probably the safest of semi's on the market.... with the magazine out, it will not fire no matter what you do. (You can override that if you wish.) It also has a combination safety and de-cocker, and the double action trigger pull on the first shot is very hard. If you should discharge this gun inadvertently, you should not be owning any semi-automatic. Highly recommended if you want a 380 more

    Excellent CCW
Purchased this weapon about a year ago and have run over 1000 rounds through it. The only problem I encountered was some stovepiping with a box of hollow points I bought cheap - probably junk ammo - not a single problem ...since. I have large hands and this one fits in nice with no fingers hanging off the grip mainly due to the extension that is attached to the magazine. Purchased a ProMag for my 2nd mag and have had no problems with it either. This is an awesome CCW pistol and works well with an "in waist band" holster with little to no bulge. 7+1 - How much more do ya need? Highly Recommend!! more

    Good value in a .380
If you think it looks like a PPK it should. It was made under license from Walther. It is lighter though, but very reliable with FACTORY magazines. Don't waste your money on after-market mags like I did because you ...just end up throwing them away after it shakes you confidence in the gun for a while. I've had my Bersa for about 3 or 4 years and have put at least 1000 rounds through it trouble free (with factory magazines). Not fussy about ammo and it's a such a pleasure to carry I find myself carrying this more than I planned. One thing I didn't like was the lack of night sights so I recently bought a set of Meprolights. Expensive move on my part. The Academy version has different sights than others so the Meprolights won't work. Ended up costing an extra $50 to replace the slide so I could get the night sights installed but all's well that ends well I guess. more

This little guy is a bargain!
I had the two tone model, not all black.......same thing right? This use to be my everyday carry, about 5 years ago. I switched to .40, then 9mm; But the Bersa still has a place in my heart. Ended up giving it to my dad ...because he wanted a gun that had good point and shoot ergonomics and a bullet that was easy to control. So What did I like about this pistol? - Low price - Extremely reliable - Super accurate - Small and Lightweight - Easy to clean I had a Sig P232 stainless, about 7 years ago, that can be compared to this gun. The Sig has a great reputation, super tight fit and finish, and much more sexy styling than this Bersa, or the Walther PPK. Unfortunately the Sig did not shoot as well as the Bersa......Go Figure. If you want an all metal .380 acp that's easy to shoot, accurate and reliable, then buy this gun. Simple.

Great Gun!
I don't write many reviews, however, this little gun didn't get a fair shake here. I've shot many different pistols, and of course, there are better one's out there. In my opinion, this is the best .3...80 out there for the price! I've owned one for over 4 years, and I've NEVER had a problem with it. I've fired over 1,000 rounds through it, and I find it extremely reliable. If you don't believe me, do your own review research. You'll find that I'm not alone in my opinion. more

    Worst Gun Ever!
Do NOT waste your money on this! There are much better options in a 380 than this piece of junk. Never got any use out of it as it kept stovepiping.

Looks and shoots like a Walther PPK
Bought one two years ago to teach wife and daughter how to shoot and as possible concealed carry. Love the double/single action, smooth trigger pull and little kick. For the money you can't beat it, very accurate on...ce you break it in. Don't limp wrist it, or it will stove pipe or jam, but with a firm hand, it is trouble free, dead on reliable with almost any ammo. I also bought a Bersa Pro Thunder 9mm which is everyone's absolute favorite range gun. Like the 380 it has silky smooth DA/SA trigger and very little flip/kick. Can you believe you can buy such a high quality piece for so little $$? more
