Heckler & Koch VP9 Info

The VP9 uses HK’s ergonomic handgun grip design that includes three changeable backstraps and six side panels. Molded finger grooves in the front of the pistol’s grip also instinctively position an operator’s hand for optimal shooting. All controls are completely ambidextrous, slide releases are present on both sides of the frame and magazine release can be easily activated by left or right handed shooters. Pistol features an extended Picatinny MIL-STD 1913 rail molded into its polymer frame for mounting lights and accessories. The VP9 uses the proven P30 steel magazine, with 15 or 10 round capacity. The trigger has a consistent pre-travel pull with a positive wall/crisp break. Shooter has a less than noticeable pre-travel pull until the trigger reaches the engagement point of the fire control parts prior to trigger break. VP9 ships with 2 magazines.

Fit and finish are flawless. Accurate. Smooth running. Comfortable. Great trigger. With the smallest grip panels installed, this gun and the Walther PPQ are the best double stacks I've ever encountered for someone like m...e who has short fingers and difficulty reaching the trigger on most. The VP9 has different size grip panels for the back and both sides and you can match them or, if you like, mix them to change the shape of the grip or make it a right or left handed gun. Keep in mind that you are the only external safety on this gun other than the trigger blade. The trigger pull is neither long nor difficult. Very well made and a pleasure to shoot. more

Best handgun I own. Takes some time to get used to the mag release but now I like the mag release better than all others. HK or Glock? I choose HK no contest.

Love my new HK VP 9MM. The shopping process was simple and easy purchasing through Bud's. I was referred to Bud's by my son and you did not disappoint! Hand gun shipped to my local dealer, went in and walked through the ...process, got verified and off I went. Thanks so much for your professionalism and ease of doing business! I will refer all my friends purchasing firearms to try you before making any other purchase! more

This is a amazing gun. The ergonomics are tremendous, and it has a great trigger pull. This gun is also fully ambidextrous, so it handles extremely well. I really don’t have anything bad to say about it. Great quality ...inside and out. more

I got to shoot this this past weekend. It is a really good pistol. the only issue is the location of the magazine release, but once I got used to it (using my index finger), it worked well.

Wow.... just wow! Traded a FN FNX-45 that I was unhappy with for this weapon. Out of the box it looks like perfection. Great finish and noticeably very well made. The weapon was well oiled but not covered in lubricant as... some weapons come. I took it to the range a few days after receiving it and was completely satisfied. The first round I fired was a failure to eject. The following 199 cycled perfectly. I was shooting Herters brand brass casing 115 grain range loads. The HK ran through them with no problems. The trigger on this weapon is very nice. There is a very small bit of creep but then the trigger tightens and is as smooth as butter. The reset is not terribly short but I would consider it short. All in all I consider this weapon to be an excellent sidearm and after 200 rounds it also seems very reliable. It is also deadly accurate. As I mentioned the trigger is very good and the pistol fits my medium sized hand very well. Love this weapon, I could not be happier. more

I did a lot or research before putting the VP9 on layaway. After I made that decision, I began to find many reviews about it being finicky about the type ammo it was fed. I even considered changing my order to the FN 509.... I decided to stick with the VP9 as I've always had good experiences with H&Ks. I have since put over 500 rounds of various FMJ, HP, p, etc, in a variety of bullet weights and have yet to find anything it doesn't like. I have not had the first FTF or FTE. My only issue, and one which needs to be resolved, is that slamming a new magazine in when the slide is back will often release the slide and chamber a round. Not good for any weapon, especially unexpected on an HK. Otherwise, my rating would be 5 stars. more

Previously, I owned a VP40 and enjoyed the features. However, the ammo was becoming expensive and, therefore, I sold the gun. Because of my previous experience, I took the opportunity to buy the VP9. Frankly, I have a pe...nchant for German and Austrian hardware. I owned, for a very short time frame, a Beretta APX and a CZ P10c. I discovered that they online raves were nothing more than "hype." And thus, I sold those guns in order to purchase the VP9. The price was great and so is the weapon. The VP9 has a great feel and a very nice trigger right out of the box. It doesn't take much effort to make the trigger even better with an after-market spring set. I had installed such a set on my VP40 and installed the same set on my VP9. It makes a good trigger even better. The VP9 is a good example of exemplary German engineering. The look is good and the feel is good. The dual paddle magazine release at the base of the trigger guard is a very nice feature. I really cannot give the VP9 any bad marks. more

    Great gun!
Was looking at the VP9 and the SigSauer P320 9mm. Both are great guns with many excellent features. I shot both at a gun range to compare them. The VP9 was more comfortable in my hand (love the grip) and a little more ac...curate in my hand. (Your mileage may vary.) The VP9 came with glow-type night sights, 2 mags, spare sized grips (the ones on the fun fit my hand fine so these remain in the case), and a plastic lockable case with lock. The gun was on sale at Academy so value was even better. I read a lot of reviews comparing the VP9 and Sig. The split on which gun is better was pretty even. Passions ran high! I would happily own the Sig, it was a great gun too. But my personal preference was for the VP9, if I could only buy one. The night sights that came with it are ok but I may choose to switch them out in time for tritium night sights as these on the gun are not at that quality. more

Excellent firearm and great buying experience from Buds. I opted for the electronic check to get the cash price so the funds clearing and shipping took almost an entire week but it was worth the wait. I saved about $120 ...compared to local gun stores by choosing Buds. The VP9 is just an excellent firearm, in fit & finish, performance, reliability, accuracy, etc. I have about 500 rounds through it so far and not one failure. Only thing I will say is it’s a little ammo picky...not in feed but ejection. No failures but the Federal Champion ammo my Walther had no issues with ejected very weak from this particular firearm. It really launches NATO ammo but even regular Winchester/UMC/Armscor/Fiocchi run just fine. I really enjoy the user customizable backstrap & side panels. I don’t have huge hands, usually wear a men’s large glove, and a lot of reviewers seemed to leave the medium backstrap & side panels (which are factory installed, small & large in the case). I found that with the medium backstrap and side panels my finger was resting on the trigger right on the crease of my knuckle. Once you push out the roll pin and remove the backstrap you can remove the side panels and everything does snap back together enough to test the grip without the roll pin inserted. I’m right handed and found the large backstrap, large right side panel and medium left panel to be absolutely perfect, as if it was molded to my hand. Put the pad of my finger right on the trigger face. I shoot every weekend, sometimes Saturday and Sunday and I’m a decent shot, but this gun makes me look good. It’s like you can’t miss. I can’t say enough good about it and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, reliable, accurate striker fired gun. Next step is to get the VP9SK for concealed carry. more

Buds shipped quickly. prior to ordering I had asked chat services what package the gun came as...keeper box? how many clips? etc. was disappointed that the rep couldn't answer me but referred to the manufacturer instead.... As expected trigger, light, quick, took me a few rounds to settle into the sights. Ammo...it is ammo picky, perhaps after it's broke in things will be different. I was using cheap aluminum rounds and had 5 jams in first 32 rounds. No problem after changing to brass Remington's. Loud! lol. Will use buds again for price and fast shipping more

Bought the VP9 as a Christmas gift for my son after extensive research. I have several other 9mm pistols, so wanted to get a new manufacturer into the family’s collection. H&K and its VP9 quickly became my first choice.... Strong, positive and unsolicited comments from a knowledgeable retired police officer and staff member at my FFL when I took delivery of the gun further confirmed my choice. I took the gun to the range to check it out because I got it in Oct, and knew my son would probably not get an opportunity to fire it until Jan or Feb. I have had to send two new guns back to big name manufacturers for adjustments/repairs, and I wanted to be sure this gun was in good working order. I fired 50 rounds through it, and knew immediately that I had chosen a hands-down winner. What a superb weapon! Extremely easy to shoot with minimum recoil, hits exactly where it’s aimed, and has the smoothest slide action, extraction, and ejection sequence I’ve experienced. I ran a combination of 25 commercial rounds from three manufacturers and 25 rounds of my reloads through it without the slightest hesitation or malfunction. My experience with the VP9 convinced me that an H&K product is my own future. And, as always, my experience dealing with Bud's with this purchase was as smooth and professional as were the previous twelve purchases. more

I own a home based tactical business and own several firearms, but the VP 9 is without a doubt my favorite ! I purchased my VP 9 about a month ago and it exceeded my expectations on many levels. Trigger pull is very smoo...th and crisp, reset is phenomenal , muzzle jump is minimal, much more so than my G17 with 3.5 lb disconnect. I can't say enough about this firearm. It is now my every day carry. Even at $100.00 or $150.00 more, it would be an excellent purchase. more

This is a fantastic striker fired pistol. It is very comfortable to hold and control for even small hands and it comes with different size grips and back straps. It is well made and fires very accurately as I compared to... the Sig Sauer 320 and the Glock 19 and easily had tighter groups with the H&K. The “back on target time” between doubles or rapid fire seems good in my hands, as the recoil is light and the sight picture stays steady. I highly recommend this pistol if you are looking for a fun, accurate, quality pistol for your collection. more

I've put 350 rounds thru this pistol so far, used several brands and types of ammo including FMJ round nose, different hollow points, reloaded plated hollow point and reloaded polymer coated round nose. I had a few failu...re to feed with my plated reloads within the first 50 shots, then no problems at all as the gun broke in. I always clean a new gun as soon as received, this one had heavy grease and oil when new which is a good thing but needs to be cleaned and lightly lubed. As others have stated, the trigger is REALLY nice and the whole pistol appears very well made. I've looked at many reviews here and elsewhere and have yet to read to find a bad one. This is the best striker fired handgun I've ever tried. more

This is what a 9mm striker fired handgun should be
I purchased this handgun on August 4th. The clincher was H&K was offering 4 free additional magazines and the Academy was running a $50 off sale. After I got it home, I proceeded to "customize" the grips wit...h the 3 sets of grip sides and also 3 backstraps. These are great, you can mix and match and end up with a darn near perfect fit. Then I put 100 quick rounds through it. No problems and the weight and balance are exceptional. I can already feel that this pistol will take the place of my favorite Sig P226. If you're looking for a full size , striker fired 9mm, here's your gun. Highly recommended. more

Fit and finish on H&K VP9 is flawless. In your hand it feels like you would expect a high quality German firearm to feel. The interchangeable grip plates & back straps allow you to customize the grip to your hand size. I have put 1,200 rounds down range with this gun. I also own the PPQ, FNS, M&P AND GEN 4 G19 & G17. I Prefer a trigger with a short take up, a wall and a clean break. If that is what you like than this gun has the best t...rigger on the market. The PPQ has more of a competition trigger, take up, slight wall and break. The VP9 has quickly become my favorite handgun, it really is a joy to Shoot and train with (at Front Sight and else where). It excels at quick follow up shots, clearing malfunctions and reloading ( the slide automatically charges the gun). I upgraded the sights with a set of Truglo TFX pro sights for night shoots. The only grip I had was the bottom of the trigger guard has a groove with sharp edges that can irritate your trigger finger after 100 rounds or so, took a dremmel to it, smoothed the groove down some. The gun is perfect now, for this price it's a steal, I paid 65.00 more. Oh yea, I did shoot distinguished with It. Can't wait for H&K to come out with the competition long slide version. more

With anything I review, I used it thoroughly. After a little over a thousand rounds, I believe I can reasonably review this pistol. With the grip options this is very comfortable to shoot. I'm hitting the 3" plate at 15y...ards fairly consistent. (your mileage may very) On only 3 occasions did I have an issue with it locking into battery, however it must be noted this was ONLY due to cheap loose box bulk winchester ammo, and NOT a flaw of the pistol. I should also mention this was 3 out of 250 rounds of the Winchester. Those three rounds would not load in anything we had at the range. All other ammo functioned flawless. Even cheap Sellier & Bellot. (great cheap ammo) I'm still not sold on the "wings" on the slide. I suppose my only real use for them is if my hands are really cold and I'm having issues gripping. After my experience, this is now my EDC pistol. Very happy with it. This is a fantastic firearm. more

    Extremely Comfortable
I have put around 1000 rounds through this firearm without any failures. By no means am I an expert nor have I fired anything but a glock 17 (through training courses), a Taurus pt111 g2, and a Ruger 9e. I can honestly s...ay from the average shooter that this gun feels premium. When you hold it in your hand, you know that it is just plain comfortable. There are so many options with the grip inserts that no matter your need, it will accommodate you. I make it a point to get the cheapest ammunition that I can find to see if it'll run through and I have yet to be disappointed. I run this with a bravo consealment holster as my edc and am perfectly comfortable. The only apprehension that I had was the mag release. Now that I have grown accustomed to it I don't know how I would live without it. I use my trigger finger for the release as well and it feels very natural. There are articles that I've read that a glock17 plus a trigger kit and aftermarket sight will bear this firearm out. That's wonderful but I got my HK for $550 on sale which is comparable and don't have to pay someone to install all of those parts. Go to the store and hold one, I think you will agree with me. more

After doing a lot of research I couldn't find much not to like on the VP9. I wanted a quality polymer and although Glocks are great, I never liked their triggers. The VP9 arrived quickly from Bud's and I put 100 rounds t...hrough it. It is outstanding --- very accurate, excellent trigger, no FTFs, minimal recoil, and it's easy to break down and clean. I had a bit of hesitation when I read about the unique HK magazine release but it's no big deal and easy to use. It's also ambidextrous. Various grips come with the firearm so you can tailor it to fit your hands. If you want a high quality and accurate polymer with a wonderful trigger, I highly recommend the VP9. more

    My New Favorite
Been in the market for a new firearm and read several reviews, but in the past it was either a Glock, Sig Sauer or CZ-USA. So I just ship and bought the HK VP9 Tactical, the gun did not disappoint, awesome trigger, group...ing and take down. The only issue is the threaded barrel is for left hand threaded, and the magazine release is euro style, below trigger guard. Will recommend to friends and family. more

The VP9 is one awesome handgun. The Heckler & Koch quality is obvious! I've run about 300 rounds through her so far, not one single issue. She'll put 14 rounds in a 2 1/2" cluster at 30', I can't take credit for that acc...uracy! The trigger is amazing, and I love the 3 dot sights. Extremely well balanced, and easy to maneuver for a full size pistol. This my 1st H & K, and I can promise I will be a repeat customer. I would give this 6 stars if possible. I can honestly recommend the VP9 to everyone. more

Best Striker Fire pistol on the market!!!!
If your a fan of polymer striker fire weapons then this gun is for you. The grip and look is almost like a walther ppq but has a more modern look to it, like it was designed for Batman. This gun is very accurate, I shot ...15 rounds from it and a Glock 17, Walther PPQ, and a Sig P320 with the same exact ammo and my grouping was better with the HK. The grip just feels much better in my hand than the others and the factory sights are better than the others as well but still are not the greatest. I have shot all guns in the same categories and I think the trigger, grips, and recoil, sights, and appearance are the better on this gun. more

The trigger on the VP9 is much better than previous striker fired pistols I've purchased. It fit me very well and I assume it fits everyone well with the different handgrips supplied. The night sights provided are very b...right, and have so far not had any problems with accuracy, It is very close to my CZ75B, and with a shorter barrel and no hammer I was pleasantly surprise. I consider myself a "placement" shooter for self defense and believe this will now be my every day carry. Thank You. Also, the pistol arrived a full 2 days early, Sportsmans Guide is the only way to go! more

Best striker gun on the market
I've had my VP9 for 18 months now and it is hands down the best handgun I've ever owned. Dead on accurate and absolutely as reliable as the HK brand is known for. I love the fully adjustable grip and ended up set...tling on large panels all the way around. I haven't even changed sights on it and normally that's the first thing I do with a handgun. I carry this handgun daily and shoot between 300-500 rounds a month. I will tell you this gun does not like cheap ammo. The chamber is very tight to exact Luger spec so some of the cheap brass will hang up on ejection because it over expands. Shooting 124 grain American Eagle Freedom Munitions JC Arms & Ammunition Geco Lawman even Blazer runs great. Winchester White Box had 1-2 FTEs per magazine. Since everything else ran flawlessly I'll chalk it up to crap ammo. I absolutely LOVE this gun and am planning on buying more HKs - P30 and a USP Tactical maybe even one of their rifles. more

SAME AWSOME PRODUCT THAT H&K ARE KNOWN FOR.
AFTER REC. MY VP9 I WAS NOT SUPRISED BY THE QUALITY OF THE PISTOL.I OWN SEVRAL OTHER H&K PRODUCTS. AND MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THEM SPANS 30 YEARS OF OWNING AND USING H&K RIFLES AND PISTOLS.THEY ARE AND ALWAYS H...AVE BEEN "TOP SHELF" FIREARMS. I HONESTLY CANNOT FIND A THING TO COMPLAIN OR EVEN BE SLIGHTLY DISSAPOINTED WITH. I AGREE 100% AND THEN SOME WITH THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS.I'M NOT SURE WHAT ONE REVIEW WAS REFFERING TO WHEN THEY STATED THAT THIER PISTOL HAD MACHINING MARKS INSIDE THE SLIDE.MINE DOES NOT. NOR DO ANY OF THE OTHER H&K PISTOLS I OWN HAVE THAT "ISSUE" MY VP9 IS VERY PLEASING TO THE EYE AS IT IS ACCURATEDEPENDABLEAND MOST CRISP TRIGGER OF ANY STRIKER FIRED PISTOL. AND I HAVE TRIED MOST ALL OF THEM. I'M A NRA CERTIFIED PISTOL INSTRUCTOR AND HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO HANDLE AND FIRE MANY TYPES OF PISTOLS AND NONE OF THEM ARE AS WELL MADEACCURATE AND RELIABLE AS H&K. SOME COME CLOSE BUT IMO NONE ARE AS GOOD AS H&K. MATTER OF FACT SOON AS FINANCES ALLOWS I WILL BE ORDERING THE VP40.I HOPE MY REVIEW WILL HELP ANYONE THINKING OF PURCHASING THIS OR ANY OTHER H&K. ANOTHER MAJOR POINT ON THE VP SERIES OF PISTOLS IS THAT MOST PEOPLE WITH MODERATE FINANCES CAN NOW OWN THE BEST.!SO IF YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH H&K ORDER THE VP SERIES WITHOUT CONCERN. I WOULD PUT GOOD MONEY ON IT THAT YOU WILL BE VERY PLEASED. more

    Wow!!!!!!
I've had my vp9 for 6 months and getting close to 1000 rounds. This pistol is amazing. No problems and I tear up center of the target. I don't even have to death grip it to hit target. Medium grip pressure seem...s to do fine. I've had glocks, beretta, fn ,s&w,ruger, and 1911. This may be the closest striker fired pistol to a 1911. I haven't had to modify it in any way to make it shoot right and don't plan to. The grip is amazing. I use a medium back strap, a small left side grip and a large right side grip. The large right side grip panel fits the cup of my hand and seems to mold the pistol to my hand. The trigger is amazing. If you're looking for accuracy, the trigger is very important. Most pistols need trigger jobs to make them shoot good. This pistol shoots great right out of the box. I'm waiting on h&k to make small version of this pistol. When they do I will be in line to snatch it up. more

    A surgical instrument
I purchased this pistol at Academy 2 months ago and it was one of the best, if not the best gun-buying decision I have made. This pistol is superlative in every way. The aesthetics, the ergonomics, and the incredible acc...uracy are mind blowing. I have shot many pistols in my day (sans the $2500-$3000 custom jobs) and this pistol is far and away the best I have ever fired. After the first two mags I put through it at the range I just laid it down on the bench and stepped back a bit with my mouth wide open at the accuracy of this fine surgical instrument. The trigger is as smooth as butter. The Euro-style mag release is the bee's knees, let me tell ya. It has a natural pointability and fantastic feel in your hands. Also, to break it down for cleaning is a breeze. This gun will make average shooters better and good shooters great. I am very serious. I know this sounds like alot of hokum to some, but I just urge you to go try it out at a range yourself if possible. You will buy it as soon as possible, it's that good. Plus the service I received at Academy was aces! more

Best Striker Fired 9MM Polymer Pistol on the market today.
The VP9 is another masterpiece of HK engineering from fit to finish. From the numerous ergo (grip) configurations to the ever so smooth travel of the factory trigger (right on par with the PPQ M2 for best available) HK d...idn't disappoint with the much anticipated VP9. It wasn't voted best new pistol of 2015 for no reason. If you have ever owned an HK you are well aware that the machining they use will often leave very small circle traces in the inside of the slide and on the outside of the lower outside barrel. I'm not sure why this is such a sore point to the jesse reviewer but it is not a negative and has absolutely no adverse effect on the pistol. I have a USP .45 that is 18 years old has had 25k rounds through it without a single failure of any kind and there are numerous small machining "circles" in afore mentioned areas. HK also has fantastic customer service a reputation they have rightly earned over the years.I have put @5k rounds through the VP9 now since purchase and not so much as a hiccup. It is a joy to shoot extremely accurate and a true 5* example of a pistol. PSA was extremely fast with the shipping (it was out the next day)as they always are...another great hassle free transaction. more

    Absolutely in Love
I recently bought this gun and all i can say is wow. I was in the market for a new gun and after weeks of researching and testing guns i couldn't find anything i liked until a friend recommend this gun to me. Had a ...chance to test it and immediately went and purchased this gun and have no regrets what so ever. Love the magazine release which i believe is a european style mag drop which was i huge plus for me as well. The ergonomics of the gun is very good, fits like a glove and has interchangeable grips incase you want to tweak and get a better feel for the grip. Trigger feels amazing out the box. No jams or quirks with the gun at all. The quality of the machining and craftsmanship is just second to none. I can't say anything negative about this gun. If you want an amazing handgun and don't have to think twice about, then this is your gun. more

    Great firearm Great price
I am a bit of a 9mm junkie. I like to stick with the 9mm cartridge so I can buy ammo in bulk for multiple weapons. Needless to say I have quite a few 9mm pistols and the VP9 is by far my favorite. The trigger is very goo...d and it's an HK so the quality is phenomenal. It is engineered to perfection and shoots like a dream. I'm just praying that they will come out with a sub-compact version to carry in the warmer weather. I carry the VP9 currently and it is a little large to conceal in the summer time. I've owned and shot plenty of 9mm's from the Sig P226 to the Glock 19 and they don't have anything on the VP9. Both are great handguns but I'll take my VP9 over anything. You won't regret buying this gun. PSA always has great prices and their customer service is excellent. You won't be disappointed. more

Great pistol for a great price
The VP9 brings HK's quality to a price point that a lot more people can afford. It is an excellent pistol. It is built extremely well- the quality is evident when you compare it to some other polymer framed pistols.... It also has one of the nicest factory triggers out there (a smooth, quick 5 pound pull or so)- about the only thing that can touch it is the Walther PPQ, and the two are on par with each other. It is extremely reliable. I have yet to have a failure of any sort after 500 rounds- not even during the first few mags like I have come to expect with most pistols. The VP9 comes with two 15 round mags, a loading tool, cable lock, a pretty nice foam cut case, and an HK sticker. It also comes with three sets of grip back straps and side panels so you can customize the feel to your preferences. One thing that people will criticize about this pistol is one of the reasons I like it- the magazine release. It uses the European style mag release at the bottom of the trigger guard. Give it a chance- it is faster than a standard push button release. You can drop a mag with your index finger (which should be off the trigger during a mag change anyway). For me, it works well. Overall it is a great pistol and comes in at a great price- right in line with offerings from most other companies instead of being priced 30 to 40 percent higher like a lot of the previous HK products have been (granted it was not an apples to apples comparison, but neither is this- the VP9 blows the others away). I'm glad to see Academy carrying the VP9 and hope they pick up more of the HK line. more

I just came back from shooting my new VP9 and my new PPQ-1.. Both shot perfect, both about 1 1/2'' high. All the talk about the triggers, here is my take. Just dry firing them both the PPQ takes it ...BUT I like the VP t...oo, the take up is different , once you do the take up you know exactly where its going to fire every time. The trigger is better on the PPQ but you don't know for sure where it goes off. But they are both two of the best guns on the planet. But there is no gun that feels better in your hand as the VP9, perfect balance, but the PPQ is a close second. One other thing the SW MP 40 cop trade-ins are the deal. I got 2, ($349) they have good night sights 3- 15 shot mags the gun looked new...Both of them....You could tell they were fired only by the mags and very slight sign on barrel where the slide rides on it. more

The Best Polymer Handgun I Own
Several weeks ago a friend of mine told me about the H&K VP9 handgun and said we have to get one of these pistols for combat type competition. OK I am always skeptical of a firearm until I can actually put my hands o...n one. I found one in a LGS and as soon as I put my hands on it I knew I had to get one! This was the best feeling pistol I have ever held as I have a small hand and short fingers. The VP9 was perfect. But I did not want to pay almost retail price and I checked PSA. They were not in stock so I clicked to be notified when the arrived. On 07/04/15 I received a notification they were back in stock. I was on the phone to my local PSA store and they did not have them yet so the sales person advised I order on-line and I did. I was able to pick up the new VP9 on 07/11/15 at my local PSA store.Once I got home I looked over the outside finish and it was perfect absolutely no flaws. I field stripped it and again the internal machining was perfection. All the stamped parts were properly de-burred there was sufficient lube on all areas as noted in the Instruction Manual. All finishing of parts were perfect. I am not a big fan of "striker fired" pistols but I can live with that. The trigger was better than I had expected and smooth. The first stage of take-up was good the second stage to fire the pistol was 5 lbs. with my gauge. It did have just a very slight mushiness but the drop was perfect. The trigger pull is the best I have found on any striker fired pistol. Now time to fire it! After just shooting about 25 rounds to get accustomed to the pistol I fired at a target with excellent results; all five (5) rounds were within a 1 1/4" circle at 10 yds. This was point shooting only using the front sight as a reference.I can only do nothing but highly recommend this handgun and Palmetto State Arms has the best price I found! more

I love this gun. I've put about 1200-1500 rounds though it and it is accurate and ergonomic. Some people complain about the trigger reset but I don't see what the issue is. Also there is a paddle mag release which I love... but others find annoying. It is light and above all accurate with excellent sights (why I chose this over the Walther). I also use this for concealed carry (but I had to buy bigger shirts). I feel more confident with this gun than any other. The only drawback is that this is a relative new product as of writing this (2015) and accessories are limited. It took me 2 months to find a company that made a holster for it. more

I have to start by saying Bud`s is the s***! Where else can you get this firearm at such a great price. It took a little longer to receive it, I went the cash route, but well worth it. As for the tool itself, wow. I am a... lefty and wanted something I could easily manipulate, found it. I thought the slide release on the right side was going to be bulky, I was wrong. Its perfect. Just the right ammount of depth to be in full control and not get in the way. The interchangeable grip is fully customizable coming with 9 different pieces. As always I love the paddle mag release on the trigger guarde. Love it on the WaltherPPS even more. At the range this thing is a beast. Ate everything and wanted more. Shot 400 rds mixed ammo, fmj and jhp. No failures...none more

nice pistol circular tool marks all over slide
Pistol shipped the same day I ordered it good job p.s.a. and I really like the pistol with all the grip options and the trigger is great. But the circular tool marks on the outside of the slide on top and sides are inexc...usable. I own glocksfns&w and others and I have never seen tool marks like this the strange thing is the inside of the slide has no tool marks at all just the outside called HK {Was on hold for over a hour} I ask if they have had any problems with tool marks on the outside of the slides he said they make there slides different than everybody else and use a cicular cutter and that HK don't warranty the finish just the functionality of the gun now I see what HK means by a{limited}lifetime warranty. they did say I could ship the pistol to them to look at but since finish is not covered under warranty they probably won't do any thing to it and I have to pay the shipping also. Well all I can say is this will be my last HK and if they want to make it in the very competitive u.s. market they will have to do better than this in finish and customer service more

This is a magnificent pistol, streamlined, well made as any HK product is and very accurate. The pistol minimizes the kick and rise of the weapon, which actually improves my accuracy substantially. I highly recommend thi...s pistol if you are considering a 9 mm, spend the extra few dollars over S&W, Springfield, Ruger and step us to this. You wont regret it. I didn't mention the lower tier entries such as Taurus because its not even close. Buds communication was excellent, however I will say if you want to take advantage of the cash price, you send a MO or certified check. Other wise you are going to add a week to delivery time. I chose to send a personal check, so I cant/wont ding Bud's. more

This is my third gun that I have bought from Buds and just like the other transactions, the gun arrived in less than 10 days, another good purchasing experience. Now the gun! I had difficulty in deciding between the Walt...her PPQ and the HK because of all the hype about the PPQ trigger. So I decided that I was going to eventually buy both, but the VP9 would be first. First of all, the feel of the VP 9 is perfect the way it came to me so I need to make no changes in back or side plates. The quality and finishing of the steel slide is as good as any gun I own. The sights were set at the factory so I was prepared to make a windage adjustment with the front sight, and nothing to elevation in that it is fixed. Did not matter. First time shooting this gun at 21 feet, I put all 15 rounds on top of each other in a 1.5 inch bullseye! Amazed me because I am not that good due to bad, old eyes. Anyway, when I do get the PPQ from Buds in a few months I hope that I will not be disappointed because this VP9 has set a new standard for me. more

The Hk vp9 has quickly become my favorite handgun. I was extremely blown away by the ergonomics as well as the fit and finish. The trigger is the best of any polymer handgun on the market. I prefer the feel of the vp9 tr...igger over the Walther ppq and Sig P320. I have about 500 rounds through it and It eats whatever I feed it. I mostly shoot cheap and dirty ammos which are known to be unreliable however, it keeps running. With zero malfunctions or failures straight out of the box its clear the vp9 is engineered to perform. I'm not a large guy but the the right belt and holster makes this gun disappear on your person. I have shot a lot of glocks and have many friends who swear by the glock platform. The vp9 has made them all converts. My buddies are selling there glock 17s and 19s to get there hands on the vp9. You will not regret purchasing this gun. Also buds gunshop's customer service and delivery is far superior than any online gunshop i ever experience and will surely be a regular customer for sure after this pleasant experience. more

All I have to say is WOW!!! I traded a Glock 17 Gen 4 for this and I was wondering if it was worth it before I got it. It definitely was. The trigger is almost perfect for a handgun, smooth as butter pull, a crisp break,... and a nice short tactile reset with blow back recoil which keeps the muzzle down. I am not an expert shooter and I was getting very tight groups out of the box--literally. I fired right after I got it. The weapon feels absolutely perfect in my hand and the grip is excellent. The gun is not really that large and it is possible to carry it on your person for those with a carry permit/off duty. I don't miss my Glock 17 at all. If you're in the market for an extremely reliable striker fired pistol, I highly recommend this. more

This a great gun. Trigger is mooth and has a short take up and crisp break. The little "ears" at the end of the slide are a little weird, but they can be removed. Has the same grip as the P30 (uses the same mags) so that...'s a plus. I've noticed a lot of people compare the VP to the PPQ but the VP is closer in size to the Glock 17. If you're wondering if the VP9 trigger is similar to the PPQ, it is not. The PPQ has the smoother trigger and the shorter reset. All in all the VP is a nice Glock 17/XDM alternative. Not much not to like. Have it and the PPQ, probably the two best polymer guns on the market. more
