    excellent except for mags.
I purchased yesterday but I find I am having a difficult time getting extra mags. There are some to be modified but weakness in those. The only ones that seem great are over 50.00 a piece. They are special order.

    Couldn't be happier
A week ago I had never heard of this item. Was impressed how it felt. Decided to do some research. I saw all the videos and feed back ( both good and bad). Went in today as soon as the store opened. They had no problem l...etting my disassemble one out of the box. I was happy with the inspection. Bought the gun, took it out to the property. Disassembled it again cleaned all the packing gunk off, sprayed it down with Rim Oil. I went ahead a set the gas setting to #3. Had a few failure to ejections on the first mag, then fired great the rest of the time. I tried buckshot, target loads, slugs, no problem. They all cycled. more

    Love this gun
I got this gun a few months ago. My first outing at the range I was shooting #8 low brass and it did have a few cycling issues. I how use 00, 1 or 2 and high brass and keep the gas chamber set on 1 for maximum life. usin...g this I have had no issues at all. I did put a holographic scope on it as well as a sling from a Mosin Nagant. Also I got a 10 round magazine from CS Specialty mags so it really is a good home protection gun. more

Great shotgun, rough looking.. but works great
I bought this on May 2018. I read all the reviews and videos on youtube about previous owners experiences. I sprayed the gun down dripping wet with RemOil, and set the gas tube to "3". I dont know what other pe...ople have done or not done to make this gun not work but mine works flawlessly. Ran 100 rounds through gun first day. Made sure it was nicely lubed with rem oil throughout firing. The safety is a bit rough, probably a good idea to file it down a bit to make the punched metal smoother or bend the safety lever outwards a little. I set the gas tub number to "3" to get as much gas as possible. BTW the gas tube setting is indicated by the top notch area of the barrel with notch towards the barrel) I used the white box winchester, 1200fps 8 shot target loads, they work just fine and cycles great. I know most people recommend 1250 to 1300 fps shells but regualr winchester clay target white boxes work just fine. Another tip from another user was to use ultra fine sandpaper 800-1000 grit to smooth out contact points on the bolt, and use a fine file to smooth out a small portion of the insertion claw to a 45 degree angle to allow for a better chambering of incoming shells. I'm not gonna try this because mine is cycling and seating the shells into the chamber just fine. But I will try to use a ultra fine sand paper or metal polish buff cream to smooth out the bolt and any other internal contact parts. hope this helps. more

    Awesome !!!!!!
I purchased this in February and I'm glad I did. Brought it home with a grin on my face. Cleaned the tooling and storage oil off, gave a good once over and stepped out back and fired several rounds, I had no issues ...with mine cycling low brass / low velocity after running 25-30 #4 high brass through it. It cycles the Winchester target loads #7.5 shot with ease on gas setting 2, and all high brass on gas setting on 1. It's built like a tank !!! And ugly as one !!! But has proved itself very reliable . My addvice is to not give up on right off the bat, shoot it, work the action by hand when done cleaning it . It does need a little " breaking in" but after that, it's good to go !!!!! The recoil impulse on the gun is amazing, it's a soft push to the shoulder, not a sharp jarring punch as most pumps and single shots are. more

Bought on sale two months ago for $399. You must use the high velocity, 1250 FPS or higher shells. I use nothing but slugs, set the gas to 3 and danm this baby hums. Over 300 rounds through it and never a fail. C-Spec ha...s nice 10 round magazines that fit and work perfectly. more

Seems to be built pretty solid. I just bought it about a week ago so I haven’t got a chance to shoot it yet. But all in all from what I can tell it seems to be well made.

Great Saiga clone that needs a little breaking-in.
I bought this gun last weekend at Academy on a Hot Deal for $399 and came home to shoot it right away. Pulling the gun out of the box, it had a fantastic heavy weight and appeared to be a very well-built firearm. The gun... came with two 5-round magazines that require some adjusting to get the magazine to lock into the mag well, similar to an SKS or Mini-14. On first shooting, I was very disappointed. First shot, and the shell failed to eject. The same thing happened for each of the five shells. I was using Winchester AA rounds, and scratched my head. After some reading, this gun has multiple gas port selector, and it needs to be switched to 3" for optimum firing. The AA shells were also a lower velocity, and this gun requires approximately 1250 FPS velocity shells in order to cycle correctly. After changing the shells the a higher velocity, the gun functioned flawlessly, firing 5 shells in a little under 3 seconds. I have ordered an SGM 12 round Saiga magazine after reading reviews that claim it works well with the JTS. To get a Saiga 12 Gauge for $450, this gun is a no-brainer, provided you do your research first and use high velocity shells! I'm looking forward to zombie killing with this one! more

    fun gun!
Recently bought one of these after doing some research on it, and like many say it is picky on ammo but I've found as long as it's 1250 fps or higher it cycles fine the academy monarch ammo works great and is o...nly $4.99. However the machine work on the bolt and BCG is HORRIBLE, I could see where the bit was moving too slow or was dull as it left deep circular marks in the metal and there are areas where it's pitted. All this can me fixed by using some sand papaer on it and being careful not to go overboard with it then polishing it smooth. more

Most fun I’ve had in long time
I purchased this shotgun about three months ago. Had always wanted a tactical style shotgun. Saigia was cost prohibited. I was very impressed with this one. Did my research first. When this came on sale for just under $4...00.00 at Academy I took a chance on it. Took it home dismantled it and lubed it up good. Read instructions provided. It fires low power loads at 3 setting as advertised. Buck and slugs at either 2 or 1 setting . In addition it is a awe inspiring site just sitting in my gun room. Lots of questions about it from my friends. Would and have recommended it to friends. more

New to AK and AR Styles
I have been interested in the AR and AK style guns for a few years now but haven’t purchased or even shot one. I saw this gun in Academy before Christmas and it caught my eye. After researching this gun, reading re...views, and watching some YouTube videos I decided to purchase one. I always clean any new gun I purchase. That’s what I learned in researching this gun: a good cleaning, oil, and feel the internal components for any metal bits or spurs. No spurs were found on mine when cleaned. I put a few Winchester 2 3/4 1B & Remington 3” sabot slugs through for my initial firing with the gas chamber setting of “1”: no problems, no hiccups, and no jams. Very smooth operations and a very happy customer so far. more

    Boom Boom Baby =]
I've had my ak12 for about 5 months now, I've put easily 400 plus 00BK through the gun. I would say it took a solid 20 rounds on the third gas port setting to get it broken in. NOTE: my FCG and carrier had burr...s from the casting. It would cause the carrier to be sluggish going into battery. Simple fix with a file, no big deal. I does not like most bulk box birdshot. (Heavier and hotter birdshot on gas port 3 is how I got my best results) It does however eat up the cheap surprema 00BK (gas port 2 and im 100% reliability) 3inch magnum ran like a boss (yea buddy that is definitely gas port 1 setting) I have yet to try any after market magazines so I can't speak on that. AK parts are not interchangeable. I bought this as a post deployment "Is good to be home and I'm worth it" gift to myself. I'm supper happy I did, 100% reliability with 00BK is awesome (honestly thats all I care about), I can deal with 85% with bulk birdshot. Buy one, it'll make your heart happy and make you feel a little bit more free and proud to be an American more

    Great shot gun
Bought myself an early Christmas present. Broke it down cleaned and properly lubed. Picked up 200 rounds of Winchester Super Speed 7 1/2 shot 1350 FPS. Expecting a long and hard break in I brought 2 twelve shot SGM Tacti...cal Saiga magazines along with the two 5 shot Mags that came with it. Started off with JTS mag. no problem shoved in 12 round mag. Still no problem. On my 5th box maybe a 120 shots in I had one shell didn’t go all the way into battery with the 12 round mag. Other than that this gun cycled flawlessly. I’m still smiling. more

Lots of value in this one!
Been looking online for a magazine fed semi-auto shotgun for awhile now. Wanted one which would take accessories from a premium brand (SAIGA) but at a price making it justifiable seeing as I don't go to the range or... land on a weekly basis. After much research, this one is now one of my favorite shotguns I own. First time at the range, we shot Winchester 1oz slugs, 00 and 000 buck. Didn't have a single failure to eject or fire. We did however have to shave down the magazines edges as were grabbing the high brass and causing issues. Once magazine was fixed, it now shoots fine in both rapid fire and 1 second delayed shots. We have also tried Winchester white box bird shot 7.5 and 8 load and they work fine also on gas setting 3. I have added a flashlight attachment with 500 lumen surefire and put together two of the magazines for home defense. It has replaced my Rem 870 express that's been by the bedside for years now. Great gun, great value. more

I took it home, cleaned and lubed, ran 75 rounds down the tube without a problem. First 25 were 00 buck and the next 50 were Winchester universal #8 shot. Gas setting on 3 for all. I purchase this AK-12 about a week ago.... After a lot of research I expected to have to shot a 100 rounds or more though it to break it in to my surprise I didn’t.... I know Saiga’s only like 3 inch shells....... I tried the cheapest 2 3/4 round I could get (Suprema) it a TulAmmo round also a box of (Federal).... I fired 60 rounds without a jam the gun hasn’t jammed not even once.... Very happy with my purchase!!! Stay away from the Saiga Promag magazines they fit the gun, but the one I got the shells got stuck in the magazine after about 3 rounds never tried to fire it with the Promag.... I ordered a SGM Tactical Saiga magazine for it today.... You can’t change the stock and it doesn’t take drum mags because of the mag well at least not right now the don’t make them.... more

    Great firearm I love it
I bought this just over a month ago. When I purchased it I had already done a little research, you absolutely can not beat the price when you compare it to similar shotguns. It took about 100 to 150 shots to break it in.... When I first shot it I only had 1100 fps target load and it absolutely wouldn't cycle, I know that it is recommended 1250 and above, so I used the single action setting on the gas system. Now after I broke it in, it shoots and cycles that same ammo with no issues. It's easy to break down just like a regular AK and easy to clean and maintain. more

Decently well made for the price.
The gas system seems to be well thought out and most of the features on this shotgun are very functional. Several known weak points on the Saiga-12 seem to have been resolved on this shotgun, the bolt carrier seems to be... a fully machined from billet part, which is a great improvement over casting. Something to remember is that this shotgun is heavily based on the Saiga and Vepr shotguns so a lot of information exists on what shells work best.. Box magazine shotguns need shells that don't deform easy otherwise they won't chamber correctly. Saiga-12 magazines are not a perfect fit, they fit very sloppy. There are a couple of aftermarket parts makers that are making corrected magazines. more

Gives me that nice AK feeling, full-figured!
This gun is fun. Wow! Big grins in the woods! It is built much better than other AK weapons I have owned, including the WASR, AMD, Gollani, and Draco. Thicker receiver, nice rivets, big, strong trunion. Srong bolt /carri...er and robust piston. Grips and stock are solid and good looking. Nice trigger! Little kick too. Chrome-lining and rem chokes are nice features too. Top rail is solid and optic ready. Swap out with wood furniture? It is possible with a little wood modification. How does it run? First, clean and lube your weapon first. Excessive cosmoline packing grease can be dangerous and is not intended to be a lube! Runs flawlessly with high brass 3" shells. Flawless with high brass 2 3/4" dove shot. Expect a break-in period with any AK. The bolt carrier needs to get its "groove on" with the rails it rides on, the pivoting piston rod also has to "find its way" as it moves through the reciever and gas block. Bad guy fighters are known to dump sand into their new AK 47s and force the bolt carrier back and forth to break-in their new weapons. Don't try this at home. Break yours in by cycling high brass shells, and adjust the gas setting as directed in the instruction manual. Eventually yours will run even cheap shells (perhaps a very quick break-in period). I can't wait to shoot it again! more

Have been salivating for a semi shotgun for the longest but the Saiga 12s price tag was ridiculous. Once I saw this I figured I would get a cheap entry level gun, WRONG!!! There is nothing cheap about it, first thing I n...oticed was the construction was rock solid. No rattling, no pieces needing tightening or ill-fitting hardware. Haven't taken it to the range yet so I can follow the advice of everyone who left a comment and clean/grease prior. The reviews here and YouTube videos give me great expectations. more

    Excellent and better than Saiga
Shot this today and no jams whatsoever and is accurate at least to 30 yards. Action is smooth and recoil good. I had it on #1 gas setting. I also Have Saiga and this is better but it doesn't take the drum magazines ...that Saiga uses but the Saiga 10 rounds work. The mags have to be pushed in and not quite as smooth as Saiga but no big deal. The price is good and never heard of this company but this is a solid semi auto shotgun that is accurate out to 30 yards at least. more

This gun is not only reliable, but it i...s absolutely the SOFTEST shooting, recoiling , pistol grip shotgun I have ever fired. Friends, I have fired single shots, pumps, bolt action goose guns, semi autos, all makes and models and this gun is the tamest of them all. Finally, have you priced Saiga 12s lately?! Absurd price gouging on these banned Russian products. $499.00 for a very well made Chinese weapon is too good to pass up. These people have been making world class AK rifles and scatter guns for a LONG time. I don't have problem with their nationality, and besides their food is GOOD too. Go for it. more

    Well worth the money!
I have read and heard a lot of people stating they were having trouble with this gun cycling and having to use #3 on the gas setting for everything. I can tell you that's not the case with mine. The key is to proper...ly field strip, clean, scrub and grease the gun before use. Many people just go straight to the range and wonder why there gun doesn't perform. Well after properly cleaning and greasing, yes you need to use grease on the bolt, bolt carrier and the rail that it slides on my gun had zero issues at the range the other day. I use #2 on everything I shot. I used both high and low brass, bird, buck and slugs and never had ftf or fte. The gun ran smooth like butter and I even was able to go down to #1 on the gas setting when using some high velocity Horanady 00 buck shot. I never had to go to #3 on the gas setting. People if you properly clean and grease this thing it will run smoothly and flawlessly. This is the best $499 I ever spent on a gun. Had a total blast at the range and cant wait to go back. more

    Not bad at all
Not a bad shotgun for the price, needs a good polishing and the gas chamber to be opened to "3" for it to function properly. Doesn't like the cheap Winchester target rounds but haven't had any problem...s with the federal and anything up in grain or shot from there more
