    Model 60 with box magizines.
I ran 150 rounds total so far. Ate everything except sub-sonic ammunition. Contrary to what people say, these rifles are fairly customizable, with a suprisingly crisp one stage trigger. Factory sights are good for about ...30 yards, so you might grab a scope on the same day. more

    Great rifle for the price!
I bought this rifle for my 9 year old son and he loves it! After adding a scope he has been very accurate and comfortable shooting long range targets. The only thing that I would improve is the 10 rd mags, wish it came w...ith a larger capacity. But overall I'm very satisfied with this rifle. more

    Excellent and reliable
Put about 1000 rounds through it first week I had it, all different types and brands of ammo, it ate it all up no problems from the gun what so ever, only misfires I had were due to bad primers not the gun, it performed ...flawlessly, I'd definitely recommend this rifle to anyone interested in a semi-auto .22 rifle more

Love this rifle for the price
Bought this for shooting with my son . I have larger rifles and am prior military and leo and thought this one would be strictly for teaching my kid but I think I had as much fun shooting this as he did. Ammo is cheap an...d this thing eats it up. I chose mulitple different ammo brands to see which brand it liked and all performed no problem. Standard velocity cci seemed most accurate. No fte or ftf functioned flawlessly. Shot 500 rds first time out. This one is a keeper. Two things I will be replacing is the trigger as the one it has just has zero feel, and the stock with a Boyd's Woodstock as the stock one feels like cheap plastic. But these issues if you can even call them that are minimal when You consider it's a 144.00 dollar gun. I may buy another for my wife. One thing to note my 10 year old says it's too heavy and it seems it's too big for him even with the 18 in barrell. Just something to keep in mind if buying for a kid. I will likely buy a smaller gun for my son. I had an old Simmons 4x28 mini .22 mag scope I stuck on it that works really well. more

    Incredible rifle
This is my first rifle. I'm twenty years old. I bought this rifle about a year ago but didn't get to fire it until earlier today. I started with some old ammo I had lying around witch kept miss firing. I tried ...using some better ammo and not a single problem. This rifle fired beautifully. The recoil, using 40 grain ammo, is less than my BB gun that I got when I was twelve. It's a joy to shoot. If you're looking for a rifle that's good out of the box and is just fun to shoot then this is it. I'll take this over a 10/22 any day. more

One of the Best, Most Reliable .22LR Rifles
In my opinion, this is one of the best entry-level .22LR rifles you can buy. It is a fantastic starter rifle for children, and EXTREMELY accurate, even at 100 yards. It's good for plinking, or dispatching varmints a...round the house. There are many upgrades available for this rifle. The only drawback I see is that you cannot get this rifle in a threaded barrel version. But I had the barrel on my Marlin 795 threaded so I can use a muzzle brake or suppressor. HIGHLY recommend this rifle, but not over the Ruger 10/22. If you are into customizing your guns, get a Ruger 10/22. But if you want a fantastic rifle for a very affordable price, the Marlin 795 is the gun I would recommend to anyone. It remains to be one of my best firearms I own. more

    Excellent 22
I bought mine from Academy 2 years ago, and have used extensively for squirrel & rabbit hunting, ridding varmits from our land and plinking. I have used a variety of ammo from Remington Golden to CCI and never an iss...ue. Accuracy is top notch...shot a squirrel right in the head at 80yds with Nikon scope and tripod...properly zero a scope on this .22 and it's deadly accurate. more

I would give this gun 5 star's, if it wasn't for the fact that it's so hard to find stuff for it, and that it doesn't have fiber optic sights other than that it is a really fun gun to shoot, and ammo f...or it is cheap. more

    Very cheap sharpshooter
I bought one of these in stainless steel a while back from academy and oh boy was i happy. I have put over 2,000 rounds into mine and have never had a problem with it. This gun for the price can out shoot just about any ...other .22 on the market. The 10 round magazines are very reliable and this thing shoots awesome groups with cci ammo. more

    Great Value
This thing is awesome. For the money this is one of the best .22's I have shot in a long time. Trigger is great, gun weight is very light, and as fast as you can pull the trigger is as fast as this can shoot. The on...ly problem (like most semi.) they can be picky about ammo, no shorts in this one or it will start jamming it up. I highly recommend this for first time shooters, plinking, etc. We go varmit hunting down at my buddies ranch and have ran this thing in all types of mother natures elements and it keeps on going. Happy plinking! more

    Accuracy on a budget
I bought this late last year. I added a Simmons 3-9x scope, a cheek pad to align my eye with the scope, and got a hold of a couple of the ProMag 25-rd mags. Got it boresighted courtesy of a laserlyte, then waited until s...pring when both work and weather allowed me to get out to the range. Man, was it worth the wait. The boresight was nearly perfect. All of my bench groupings were extremely tight, using bulk ammo. I was shooting a full mag at a time and pretty much just got one jagged hole at 30 yds . Shooting from the shoulder was comfortable with the light recoil you'd expect from a .22, the rifle is light and ergonomics are fine. All in all, an extremely pleasant and satisfying shooting experience. If you're in the market for a .22, I'd put this up against just about anything else out of the box. You might be able to better it after sinking a bunch of money into aftermarket parts for a 10/22, but why? The 795 does it all without breaking the bank. more

    GREAT GUN! FUN TO SHOOT!
I bought this gun a little over a year ago and have had no problems at all. It doesn't have near as many after market mods available as the 10/22, but it's $50 less and functions just as well. ProMag has a 25 r...ound magazine for this rifle and cycles well. more

I have only shot a ruger 10/22 and this marlin, but this 22 is great. Lighter than the ruger And accurate. The safety is convenient to switch over when ready to fire. I put 300 rounds thru it in a few hours and no jams o...r double feeds. Worth the 150$. more

DON'T LET THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS GET TO YOU......!
I BEEN SEARCHING FOR A DECENT .22 AND I CAME ACROSS THIS MARLIN. I READ SOME REVIEWS AND THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE IT A TRY. I DID A QUICK SEARCH ON GOOGLE AND FOUND MAGAZINES AND OTHER ACCESSORIES OUT THERE.....BOYDS STOCKS ...EVEN MAKES A STOCK FOR THIS MODEL. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE TO MAKE SURE MY STORE IN CONROE, TX. HAD IT IN STOCK.....AND TO TOWN I WENT. I PURCHASED THE RIFLE AND THE BSA Special 4 x 32 Rimfire Riflescope.....TOTAL CAME OUT TO $189 AND SOME CHANGE.......45 MINS LATER I WAS HOME CLEANED THE GUN AND TO THE BACK 40 I WENT. 5 ROUNDS LATER SCOPE WAS SIGHTED IN AT 50 YARDS....SO I MOVE TO 100. ALMOST DEAD ON AT 100 YARDS AND THE GROUPING IS RIGHT ON..........VERY PLEASED WITH MY $189 .22 RIFLE AND SCOPE COMBO. more

    Okay rifle
Was a gift that sat for a few months before I was able to sight. I like the weight and simplicity but had immediate hammer problem, aka, NO FIRE. I had cleaned and re-oiled as suggested. The hammer has side to side play ...and will not stay centered. Once I discovered and corrected, I could get 1 or 2 rounds fired before it drifted off-center and then NO FIRE again.. I have a solution and I am certain I can correct the problem. My issue is that Marlin QC should have found this at factory and it should have never left in this condition. Before you ask, no, I have no receipt/paperwork. As I stated at the beginning, it was a gift. more

This is an awesome .22. Every bit as accurate if not more than a Ruger 10/22, at a much lower price. The Ruger has more aftermarket parts, but if you are looking for a very well made accurate .22. This is for you. I put ...a cheap Tasco .22 scope on it, and it'a a real tack driver. more

    Great Deal
I've put over a dozen different types of ammo through this firearm, everything from heavy sub-sonic rounds to light high velocity rounds, and the firearm has functioned flawlessly. The firearm is also very accurate ...with the right ammo even out past 100 yards. I've also used the larger 25 round magazines without any problem. The firearm is very light and has a dovetail rail on top to facilitate the mounting of an optic. Very good firearm for just plinking around or even for varmint hunting. Marlin is a very good and reputable firearm company, you can't go wrong with a Marlin. more

    Nice 22
I bought this over six months ago and have put over 3000 rounds through it.  First, it likes certain ammo, so far the best was Federal 325 in the round tin.   Second, it is awesome to plink with.  Little r...ecoil, even my wife had fun shooting it and she hates guns.  I also have to say she hit the can at 25 yards on her third try.    Third, it only comes with one 10 round mag (bummer).  I have found some after-market mags at reasonable prices.   Finally, you will get plenty of use with the gun, strip it down for cleaning every 700-1000 rounds and your will not be disappointed. more

Great gun but almost no accessories
Great gun... at first it is real picky with ammo. Fail to feed and fail to eject with bulk ammo. CCI minimags, Winchester superX are great when gun is new. Accuracy is awsome... way better than my brothers stock Ruger 10.../22. But for accessories... not much... not even spare magazines. Oh yeh... there are some that make accessories...but you will not see them in stores...and getting online is challenging. Great Gun.. but if I had it to do over... I might get the ruger 10/22 for its availabe accessories. It is sad because Marlin is as good as it gets.. just a shame that just trying to get spare magazines is nearly impossible. more

    Little Rifle That Could
Being a 1" shorter, removable magazine version of the Model 60 from Marlin, I knew purchasing this would not be a mistake. Sure enough, after mounting and sighting in my BSA Huntsman RGB dot scope, I found this rifl...e to be nothing but superb in terms of value, accuracy, and function. These guns HAVE to be CLEANED inside and out before you can shoot them. They come packed with a bunch of gritty grease crud that will make the rifle jam and hang up. It took about 500rds to break this gun in, and in my book, that says it's going to last forever. Mine eats everything, including the dreaded Remington bulk ammo. It would occasionally jam with cheaper ammo in the beginning but that has since been a thing of the past. more

    Very Accurate
This rifle is very accurate out of the box. No misfires with around 100 shots fired with cheap Winchester target loads. put a cheap tasco $8 scope on it and could hit the straw out of a cup at 25 yards. Not as many "...;upgrades" available as the 10/22 but if you want a .22 that looks like an AR just buy an M&P. I bought this one because of price and the fact that you can find some aftermarket magazines. Stock does not feel cheap like I thought it would and will be light enough for my kids once they get to be a little bit older (currently 2 & 5). 2 cons, I wish they would blue the magazine for cosmetics only and the trigger could be a bit lighter. more

    Great little plinker!
I purchased my 795 from Academy late last year and used the rebate offered by Remington for $25.00! That made this a super cheap .22 rifle to own. I love how light weight it is and I couldn't believe just how accura...te the 795 really is. I've owned a S&W M&P .22 and this is just as accurate, but less picky about the ammo you use. It was much more accurate than my buddies Remington Speed Master! The only down side to this rifle is there isn't much after market like the Ruger 10/22. Nobody makes a quality hi-cap magazine for it. Still though its a great little rifle for the price and an excellent first rifle for the younger shooter! more
