Sighted in at 50 yards with custom made ammo.Hornady bullets and Hogdon powder.Three bullets can make a large hole when I do my part.Confident that similar results may be obtained at 100 yards.

I've only fired 15 rounds through this rifle so far, but I am thoroughly impressed. It took me 3 rounds to zero it at 100 yd. I then fired four 3-round groups, all of which could be covered completely by a dime. I mounted a Burris scope and a Harris bipod on it, and I used Federal Gold Medal Match rounds.rnrnThe bolt action is very smooth and quick to operate. The rifle is light, but the recoil is surprisingly minimal. All in all, I'm very pleased. ...more

Right out of the box with a Burris scope I mounted and bore sighted. This rifle had group of about an inch at 100 yards. After adjusting it was a half inch. Love this red beauty.

This was my first purchase from Bud's and it was hassle free with fast shipping. I am very satisfied with Bud's and would highly recommend them to anyone.

This is a good quality, precision based firearm that was super easy to order from Buds, delivered in a reasonable amount of time, at a price point people can afford. Easy to put together and the options I purchased elsewhere were a perfect due to the reliable information provided. I would like to have seen a precision rifle shipped in a hard case rather than cardboard, however no damage was on the firearm when it was delivered. Been doing business with Buds for years and Highly Reccomend then to anyone. Be sure to look at the picture closely. The picture of the gun I purchased had a square ended surpressor, however it arrived with a roind one. The square surpressor added so much to the look. ...more

What can I say other than the fact that, for me, this is the most accurate out of the box rifle I have ever shot. It is well built, sturdy, heavy for reduced recoil and the muzzle brake is an added bonus. The rifle was in great condition from the shipping and arrived as expected from Buds, cheaper than any other place I looked. The rifle doesn't require a break in, as per Ruger, just clean before use and then use it normally, which breaks with tradition of a "barrel break-in" procedure but I found it to be unnecessary. 3 shots to get to the bullseye then trying out 3 different types of ammo ( Winchester Match 140g (6 shots), Hornaday Match 147g (5 shots), and Hornaday Match 140g (5 shots)) with no break in between, the hornaday 140g was shot last and still had all holes touching in a 5 shot group at 100yds. If I was a better shot, all 5 would probably be in the same hole. This is a great rifle for anyone wanting to get into long range shooting. The only negative is the bolt is finicky and is hard to retract at times, I expect with more use it will get easier, however I am not a fan of the plastic rear part of the bolt. This has no negative impact on the performance of the rifle for long range use, however it may impact those who might need quick follow up shots. ...more

Does it shoot 7.62x51 Also?

(Unknown) 1 year ago

Him sure it will, but if it is not stated by the manufacturer you should be careful not just for your safety, but you can potentially void the warranty if something should happen to the firearm.

Since this is bolt-action and does not have a high-capacity magazine, it should be fine for California.

308 or 6.5

(Unknown) 1 year ago

Eli, 308 would be the logical choice due to ammo availability and weight range of bullets. 6.5 can be gotten later when ammunition choice and availability ramps up. The 308 is an old race horse that is still very much in "The Game" Sir.

Pros and cons Ruger precision 308 vs 6.5 creedmore

(Unknown) 1 year ago

Accuracy is even for each cartridge's effective range Mike. As you stated the 308 is a staple round that is very versatile, accurate and can be found everywhere at a moments notice. The 6.5Creedmoor will buck wind and have way less drop past 500 yards so your choice should be decided by the distance you will ultimately shoot. That said, I would choose the 6.5.
