Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Features

The Smith & Wesson M&P 15 is a perfectly acceptable AR15.  It comes with a 16.5 inch M4 profile barrel and doesn’t have the useless M203 cut, it uses a carbine-length gas system that sends enough gas back to the bolt carrier group to ensure reliable operation, and it uses Mil-Spec parts across most of the gun including an A3 style upper receiver.

Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Capacity

The Smith & Wesson M&P15 accepts all AR15 pattern magazines.  Box magazines are available with 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, and 100 round capacities while drum magazines are available in 60, 75, and 100 rounds.
The M&P 15 is Smith & Wesson’s take on the AR15 and is just as light, mobile and handy as any other AR15 with a telescoping stock.  Whether you’re walking through thick jungle whistling the intro to “Fortunate Son” or you’re running in a 3-gun match, this rifle is just as handy and reliable as any other decent entry-level AR.

Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Mobility

Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Ergonomics

The M&P 15 ships with the most standard Mil-Spec parts, and thanks to the modularity of the AR15 platform, parts can easily be changed out for the user to tailor the rifle to his or her liking.  The M&P ships with perfectly functional furniture that costs next to nothing by comparison, so it won’t hurt anyone’s feelings if you switch out the stock, grip, and handguard.  It has a Mil-spec buffer tube, so take note if you plan to replace the stock.

Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Fit & Finish

The M&P 15 properly follows Mil-Spec blueprints in its manufacturing process.  The sear surfaces in the trigger group are honed for a smoother trigger pull.  The receivers have a Type 3 hard anodized finish that hold onto oil very well and prevent damage from weather and wear.
