This pistol is smooth accurate and loads of fun to shoot. I just got it about 2 weeks ago and have put about 250 rounds thru it with no misfeeds no jams no problems. This gun is a dream to shoot and great for a CHL carry! LOVE IT. ...more
Although competition is the model name this XDM .45 5.25" can fill any role you apply it to. Plain and simple this is an awesome, full-size, .45 ACP that can do it all, accurate, controllable, pleasure to shoot. If you like big .45s don't hesitate to add this one to your collection. ...more
I had the subcompact version. I really liked the fact that it came with a compact magazine as well as a full size sleeved magazine that gave you a larger grip - very clever! It was very reliable, very accurate, and well made. The sights did their job well, and the grip fit my hand much better than any Glock. I sold it after trying an experiment to see how easy it was to produced a (simulated) negligent discharge while holstering. I saw a video on line in which a Glock negligent discharge were blamed on loose holster leather getting into the trigger guard. I used light cloth from my shirt rather than leather, and was shocked at how easily I got the striker to activate. I sold the XD-40 subcompact, and now only carry handguns with a thumb safety or a double action trigger. If you're comfortable with not having a safety or DA trigger, you'd probably give this pistol at least 5 more points, but I'm not, so 90 points it is. I know I'm going against the conventional wisdom these days, but one's choice of carry gun safety system is very personal, and this is mine. Other than that concern, this is an excellent pistol. ...more
Thanks Santa!! Me Like! I was looking for something with a bit more power than my 9mm but with good feel, well made, etc. (My 9mm is a PPQ, and while the haters are gonna hate, I have found it to be nothing short of highly reliable, accurate, and well made and with the best factory trigger I've ever encountered). Anyway, the .40 cal XDM has a lot of power - just what the doctor ordered. I prefer the way it breaks down to field strip with the disassembly lever instead of a difficult push down thing. For firing, I'm not crazy about the trigger, but the Walther has really spoiled me. I find the XDM trigger to be a little wonky; doesn't always seem to reset in the the same spot, also not as smooth as my PPQ. I was expecting more consistency from a striker fired pistol. Sights are, ehhh, okay. Need to change them out for maybe a Dawson precision set of sights or Trijicon, but I've never heard of factory sights that anyone has ever been satisfied with. I'm also going to look to replace the recoil spring -- a good bit of kick to this puppy. All that being said, I still love this pistol. Accurate, well made, feels good in my hand, beautiful with the bi-tone, great ammo capacity, and the Bud's price was right. No regrets. Fine piece of work from Springfield Armory. ...more
