For over 230 years, the name Springfield Armory has been associated with proven combat arms. This storied tradition continues with the all-new SOCOM 16 CQB. A modernized descendant of the distinguished M14 and M1A rifles, the SOCOM 16 CQB is designed for serious defensive use as its Close Quarters Battle name implies. Nearly ten inches shorter than the M1A standard model, the CQB offers quick and easy handling for defensive use indoors or out. The authoritative .308 chambering with optional 20-round magazines wont leave you wanting more fight-stopping effectiveness. If youre looking for a defensive rifle, youll find the CQB outfitted right out of the box with the features that can make all the difference when it counts. The adjustable buttstock, with 5 position length and 2 position adjustable cheek piece, is mounted on a standard AR-type commercial buffer tube, so you can always choose the perfect stock for your needs from hundreds of AR-compatible stocks. The AK-style pistol grip places the exact grip angle and distance desired between the hand and trigger, and the CQB accepts any standard AK-style replacement. The CQB stands ready for the addition of your favorite gear with the M-Lok compatible system. One seven-slot and two three-slot rail segments, factory installed, that can be mounted at the three, six, or nine oclock positions. Also there is a fixed top rail that provides the perfect location for a scout optic should your needs dictate engaging from a distance. Out of the box, youll be ready to hit your target quickly day or night. An XS front post front sight with tritium insert appears effortlessly through the aperture rear sight, and an optional factory CQB rifle comes equipped with a proprietary Springfield Armory clip guide red dot mount with a Vortex Venom Red Dot sight which enables fast target acquisition indoors or out. Not to leave out the finishing touches, weve packaged this new SOCOM 16 CQB in a custom ballistic nylon tactical case complete with internal supports, owners manual storage, and pockets for up to three magazines. When it comes to protecting the ones you love, trust the First Name in American Firearms, Springfield Armory.
How would you like to rate Springfield Armory M1A SOCOM AA9611PK?
With proven 1930‘s technology comprising of the bolt action and mechanics – along with upgrades of the of the well-known M14, the M1A CQB is the latest and most compact version of the M1A (2nd only to the Juggernaut Bullpup by half inch in length). This weapon is NOT primarily a close combat (rapid fire) weapon. Instead, the M1A CQB is predominantly a MEDIUM range, power-shot rifle with limited close and long range capabilities. The power shot of this rifle almost sends a shockwave of force with each pull of the trigger. Uniquely loud, it is impossible to fire the weapon in-doors or in confined quarters without potential for hearing damage. Slow reload time also impacts fighting capability with limited 20 rd magazines (the 50 round drum available for purchase is too cumbersome for an already-heavy battle rifle). Some velocity is sacrificed for more maneuverability with the short-barreled battle rifle. With the red-dot sight, you lose long range potential – however, aiming is more suitable for medium and some close combat scenarios. Biggest limitation: no folding stock for transportation (backpacking) and storage purposes. Archangel could and should have developed the folding mechanism on the left side of the rifle (opposite of the op rod). Most appealing attribute: the intimidation factor. The M1A CQB looks, feels and sounds like a truly fearsome battle rifle – unique the typical weapons like ARs and AKs. One shot, one kill – no screams of pain and suffering. In addition, M1A CQB has the ability for AR-like customization: the stock is adjustable with a pistol grip, picatinny rail attachments, and built in holes for QD sling attachments. Although the rifle is extremely tight in first disassembly for cleaning/lubricating/greasing – I bonded with my rifle by feeling the same parts and mechanisms that operated in various wars throughout history (and there are even M14 variants still in operation today!). Overall, I am very pleased with this battle rifle. It will serve as a family heirloom for worst and best scenarios: apocalyptic situations (total breakdown in civilization) and family bonding activities (gatherings at the gun range and boar hunting). ...more
This is a true piece of work right here, new to the gun world and this being my second rifle I’m beyond excited to take this to the range. When I first got it delivered to my FFL I was skeptical the pawn shop would maybe try to steal the red dot sight or maybe the bag they send it in opened the red dot box and sure enough it was missing. But to my surprise the red dot was already pre mounted on the rifle ! So other than the micro heart stop this is agood high quality rifle. The bag that it was shipped in isn’t to bad I’ve seen people complain about it but I think it’s great light weight has a nice padding on the inside and some good straps to keep it nice and secure. The only problem I have with it is the 10 round mag I’m not sure if it’s me or the gun but it seems like the 10 rn mag is too short for me to feed it in properly but practice makes perfect. The red dot sight is great and even better when I can switch it out for my everyday carry and put it back on my rifle anytime. This is a solid 10/10 gun and comes with a lot of very detailed information about the gun and its history. ...more
