Yes, the .357 works great for hunting deer sized animals. Some states have regulations on minimum barrel lengths, so be sure to check out your state's hunting regulations before purchasing.

David, Yes. Have put Buff Bore 158 gr JHP at over 1400 fps and Buff bore 180 gr hard cast that is slower no problem. This big gun will handle big ammo

Taurus M66 vs M627, redux

Submit
unnamed user 1 year ago

I would go with the M66 James. It will more likely than not be the best for what you need in a revolver. The M66 is built like a tank as well and will "Live" with high power loads comfortably.

Taurus M66 vs M627

Submit
unnamed user 1 year ago

the 627 is a compact frame the 7 shot cylinder is lighter than the 6 shot cylinder the grips are lighter ported . The 66 is a Medium frame heavier grips cylinder is heavier. It all adds up and I have found that the manufacturers weights are not the most accurate specs. For normal use I don't think you would ever wear either of the Taurus revolvers out

22 ammo

Submit
unnamed user 1 year ago

yes it shoots both 22lr and 22 mag you do have to switch cylinders to go from 22lr to 22 mag and back again (comes with a 22lr and a 22 mag cylinder) most people who have them love them and they are very accurate

Taurus 627 frame vs. 617 frame

Submit
unnamed user 1 year ago

Both the 617 and the 627 share the same Frame" size. Larger than a S&W® J frame, but smaller than a K frame. The only difference between the two is barrel length (2¼" vs 4" vs 6½") and their sights. The 66 & 627 TRACKER™ have adjustable sights, the 617 is fixed sights.

Bigger grip

Submit
unnamed user 1 year ago

Your best bet would be a nice set of pachmayr grips. They work great and have different sizes available, They also offer finger grooves as well. I have bigger hands and I have pachmayr grips on most of my revolvers including my 480 ruger and they work and fit great. Hope this helps.
