This is an excellent rifle. The stock is more comfortable than a Howa in my opinion. The weight of the rifle is good, not too heavy, and not too light. The trigger out of the box was at 3.5 pounds so it was more than adequate. Accuracy for the weapon is good, well I should say very good for the price. The rifle is rated at sub 1 1/2 groups at 100 yards using 180 grain stock ammo. I was able to obtain these results myself shooting the cheapest ammo I could find. The taper of the barrel requires a set of high mounts and rings (leupold) if using any scope with a 44 mill objective or larger. In 300 Win Mag, the kick is not too bad, but it will make you hurt after 7 or 8 rounds. I am having a muzzle break added to mine and the trigger pull taken down to 3 pounds. Overall, for the money you cannot buy a more accurate, more durable, or better shooting rifle. Period. ...more

Smooth purchase as always through buds, but the gun has not performed as should. I have shot 4 different types of ammo through this rifle so far and I have yet to group under 1%u201D at 50yds. Not worth the extra $$, I hav a Ruger that will out shoot the Weatherby RC any day.

I have not had the rifle to the range yet, but based on initial impressions I am satisfied with this rifle/scope package. This is a BEAUTIFUL rifle, most notably the high grade, high-gloss finished walnut stock. The Rosewood forend cap and pistol grip cap with the maplewood spacers really make it stand out. Fit and finish is top notch - what you would expect out of a Weatherby rifle. The scope that this comes with is a a Leupold VX-2, which is a highly rated (based on many reviews i read) upper-entry level scope from Leupold that apparently has been discontinued for about a year. This scope is thought by many to be superior to the VX Freedom series which is what replaced the VX-1 and VX-2 series. This is a great opportunity to get your hands on one of these scopes that won't be around much longer, especially considering its paired with such a great rifle. This rifle and scope combo has got to be one of the best bang for your buck out there. One important thing to note - at least with my experience - this rifle came with the satin blued barrel finish, as opposed to the high polished blued finish that is stated in Bud's description as well as the description on Weatherby's website for the Vanguard Deluxe model. This wasn't a major deal for me, as I actually prefer the satin finish anyway (matches the scope which also has a satin finish), but I could totally understand why this could be a deal breaker for some as this is a "deluxe" feature that was not included. Would probably be worth giving a call to Bud's to inquire about this for anyone interested in this rifle/scope package. My experience with Buds was great - ordered it on a Saturday, and it arrived at my FFL here in Florida the following Wednesday. The only thing I would recommend to Bud's is to put a little more information in the description, particularly regarding the scope, and if these rifles are not coming with the high polished blued finish, please clarify that in the description as this could be a significant factor for some. ...more

Although advertised as a “True North,” the box states it is a “Cerasport.” From what I can tell, a True North is a Cerasport made in standard cartridges and exclusive for a store in Canada. Both have a 24” barrel and cerakote finish, but it is a Cerasport not a True North as advertised. Great rifle though. ...more

Had been eyeing one of these for a long time. A very long time. I have weatherby vanguard series one in .270 Winchester. Love it. So my wife bought me one for Christmas 2017. Long story just now getting time to actually shoot it. First thing trigger is wonderful for production rifle. Makes me not like my other rifles. Second the recoil is non existent with it in 25-06. I put a leupold vx3i 3.5-10x40 on it. It obviously needs more glass. That’s in the plans. Third once you find the ammo it likes watch out. I wasn’t able to find Barnes vortx in 100 grain at first so I tired several other premium brands and did ok but not lights out. Well let me tell you today I got out with the Barnes that the factory target said it was tested with. Well it said it printed .88 I was able to beat that I printed a .750 today. And I’m terribly out of practice. I will post a flow on review when I get more time behind gun. All can say is the deer are not safe in my neck of the woods. ...more

I bought the Stainless version IN .243 when it was referred to as the "Sub MOA" a few years ago now as I had a teenage son looking to bag some medium game. The load testing I did was very brief, it shot everything I loaded and fed it into the same hole. It has in the years since collected numerous deer, Boar and Goats. Never needs to be re-sighted (except for the time I used it for a snow ski when falling in a rock scree on the side of a mountain), even then it was only a few shots getting on the mark again. The carbon stock apart from surface scratches was fine and it is my go to rifle for some fun on novelty targets. A great investment for any Hunter, Shooter. ...more

I've had this Vanguard over a month now and can tell you it's fit and finish are what one would expect from Weatherby all good. I did however have a hard time finding a load that would group well out of the rifle. After trying nosler 120 gr and Hornady 129 gr bullets which were reloads I finally found something the rifle liked .. 140 grain hornady match with 38 grains of H380. I now get constant 1/4 or less 3 shot groups @ 100 yds.. So far I have not shot it past 100 yds, it is toped with a leupold vx 5 hd which is a great scope. I have just now had the time to really work up the load and finally get the rifle shooting like I expect it to and will be shooting out to long range targets in the future. Rifle is not too heavy to hunt with and I will be using it during deer season this year. I would recommend the rifle and feel it is a good deal for the price, as I don't think even high dollar rifles are going to get much better groups. The stock is also a Bell and Carson type fiberglass stock which as alum. mounting blocks. All and all I like the rifle and would recommend it to someone else. ...more
